I think I'm kind of glad I waited to push it, if I hadn't, the next person to push this packaging (probably me) would have the problem with GCC 4.6.x. Just a quick note, the tree is still for the May Release. The actual proposal (the plan, at least) will be for the June release (after I/we test it) because of the improvements for Unity. [Bug 671065] Re: deliver broken because dovecot.conf uses !include_try
This is problematic because it lays a trap. Just because the special package sets up mailbox_command to do this doesn't mean the bug won't screw someone who thinks that deliver will obey inclusions. It's -especially- bad if someone tries to use virtual domains and hence removes that mailbox_command and thinks that their virtual-domain solution will work if they don't use -c in the line in Postfix's master.cf. It also screws anyone who happens to install Postfix, and then much later installs just the Dovecot package instead of the postfix-dovecot superpackage. Basically, it's totally fragile---if they don't install Dovecot in exactly the way you anticipate, or if they make what looks like a change that -should- work, it doesn't. I very nearly fell into this trap just now by rearranging some files; I only noticed the bug because I was trying to find a definitive syntax definition for how include_try was supposed to work and noticed this bug in Google. That one obscure comment in dovecot.conf is easy to overlook (I did, even though I've been making changes in that file for a week or two now), -and-, if you start from Postfix's main.cf entry, there is -no- comment warning you that you can't simply eliminate what looks like a totally wasteful -c /etc... and rely on the normal conf-file-parsing logic to include what you thought was the configuration for deliver. It looks like someone put it in there in a misguided attempt at efficiency (hey, why have deliver have to parse the whole file when it can parse just this piece?) and not because it's papering over a bug. So even though I didn't get zapped by this, it was only by chance, and I'd have spent a long time trying to figure out what happened if I had. There are fundamentally two bugs here: o The upstream deliver bug (doesn't notice include{_try}) needs to be fixed. o In -every single place- that Postfix's configuration file is explicitly rewritten to point to the included file directly, a very clear comment should be left explaining why it does that, probably pointing to this bug URL, so people know why and when it might have been fixed. Even that latter part doesn't help people who install Dovecot as its own package, unless there's some post-inst that tells them about it; I haven't checked. I don't have a good solution for that, except to make the deliver doesn't read includes comment in dovecot.conf -much- more noticeable, such as by putting it in uppercase and at both the beginning and the end of that file. (I was going to also say, and in deliver's manpage, but it doesn't appear to have one.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671065 Title: deliver broken because dovecot.conf uses !include_try To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dovecot/+bug/671065/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 807357] [NEW] Log Out / Restart / Shut Down dialogs can get lost behind other windows
Public bug reported: Selecting one of these options from the indicator-session menu: Log Out... Restart... Shut Down... gives you a dialog. However it is a modeless dialog so can easily get lost behind other windows. And they can't be found in the Unity Launcher either, because they're only dialogs. The fix: These dialog windows should be made modal. Further notes: The offending binary is: /usr/lib/indicator-session/gtk-logout-helper when run with either -l, -r or -s. Notice however that the package gnome-session-bin provides alternative dialogs which are correctly displayed as modal: gnome-session-save --shutdown-dialog gnome-session-save --logout-dialog ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: indicator-session 0.2.17-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Jul 8 13:52:35 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release amd64 (20110427.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_AU:en LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: indicator-session UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: indicator-session Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: indicator-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807357 Title: Log Out / Restart / Shut Down dialogs can get lost behind other windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-session/+bug/807357/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 522998] Re: XHCI (USB 3.0) kernel Module Prevents Suspend
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W510, and the following works flawlessly for me: 1) As root/sudo, create /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-xhci_hcd with the following contents: #!/bin/sh # File: /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-xhci_hcd. TMPLIST=/tmp/xhci-dev-list case ${1} in hibernate|suspend) echo -n '' $TMPLIST for i in `ls /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/ | egrep '[0-9a-z]+\:[0-9a-z]+\:.*$'`; do # Unbind xhci_hcd for first device :XX:XX.X: echo -n $i | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/unbind echo $i $TMPLIST done ;; resume|thaw) for i in `cat $TMPLIST`; do # Bind xhci_hcd for first device :XX:XX.X: echo -n $i | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/bind done rm $TMPLIST ;; esac 2) sudo chmod 755 /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-xhci_hcd I didn't need to create the /etc/pm/sleep.d/05_xhci file as suggested by @Gabou, nor did I need to do anything with /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist- xhci_hcd.conf or /etc/pm/config.d/unload_module, as suggested by @Martin. In fact, these three files don't exist on my machine. For other laptops that have ehci_hcd devices which cause suspend problems, I think this script will work by simply replacing xhci_hcd with ehci_hcd, although this isn't directly relevant to this bug report. This works even with two usb devices plugged into the ports when I suspend and then resume -- the devices work and don't need to be plugged in or out. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522998 Title: XHCI (USB 3.0) kernel Module Prevents Suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/522998/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
