[Bug 825825] [NEW] have DNS based verification occur by default

2011-08-13 Thread Anand Kumria
Public bug reported:

Hi,

openssh can lookup a host's key in the DNS (via the SSHFP record) and
use it compare hosts presented public key.

  VerifyHostKeyDNS yes

I believe that is the connection is secured via DNSSEC that this option
will allow for the host's key to be automagically accepted. However I
have not verified that myself.

However I have had this personally set to 'Yes' and for initial
connection to hosts which are NOT secured via DNSSEC I am prompted to
accept the key.

If you want to be more cautious with the change then perhaps setting
'VerifyHostKeyDNS ask' would be better.

Either way, I think that making this the default option will:
 - increase security for those who choose to deploy SSHFP
 - increased awareness of this ability

The only downside is that a connection will make external calls to the
DNS to determine if a SSHFP record exists.

It would be great if this change could be made before 12.04 is released.

[Bug 825872] [NEW] FTBFS with newer versions of heimdal

This issue is resolved in upstream commit r454. Oneiric package is a current

[Bug 763005] Re: Compiz's Sync to Vblank makes display stutter/slow with some drivers (like fglrx)

2011-08-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sorry to hear NVIDIA users are not benefiting. But I'm confident that
fglrx and some intel users will get joy from the fix. Because I've
tested those :)

P.S. NVIDIA users, I think you should be looking at bug 92599. That
describes the driver issue that tricks compiz into using the wrong
refresh rate. Sadly this fix is not enough to work around that NVIDIA
issue.

[Bug 235768] Re: Enhanced zoom not working with twinview enabled

2011-08-13 Thread Bazon
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 162396 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162396

I had the same issue in natty. For me, it was solved by not using the xorg.conf
(by renaming it) and setting twinview with the program disper and running
disper -c.
(the parameter -c clones the output on both devices)

I comment here (and not in bug #162396) because here solutions were
proposed and I'm not so sure about the duplicate status: for me, the
mouse didn't jump to the other screen, but simply disappeared.

[Bug 825681] [NEW] The timer in Sudoko is not reset when starting new game - it more looks like it's reset when old game finish

2011-08-13 Thread Mikael Hewel
Public bug reported:

Example:
I had finalized a Sudoko game. Application still open with the winning

[Bug 351035] Re: Recovery of documents opens 2 versions: last save and a restore

2011-08-13 Thread Ketil Wendelbo Aanensen
I'm sorry, but is there any chance that the above command will do anything with
this bug? I mean, the bug report is 2,5 years old, I'm several versions of
Ubuntu away, on a newer computer, and of course I'm now using LibreOffice.
A little late to the party this response, isn't it?

I love Ubuntu and open source software, but after 7-8 years of reporting
bugs, I'm almost put entirely off. This is one of many examples of bugs
being pushed around to confirmed (if even that), then nothing happens at
all. Not trying to start up a debate about this on Launchpad (because I
know it's not a forum), but I just think it reflects poorly on Ubuntu.

More in relation to this specific bug, I'm not going to vaste any time
issuing any commands (whether they work or not) for a trivial bug that
will not move any more the next 2,5 years.

I guess this can be changed to status
oldasdirtandnobodybotherswithitanymore, which seems to be a missing
option. (At least that would be tongue-in-cheek.)

Sorry about the rant.

[Bug 402233] Re: Display User bio, followers, friends lists... on UserPage when clicking on a View user profile open it directly

2011-08-13 Thread Xavier Guillot
Thanks for the answer : for ideas I love what is done in Hotot, for
example, where all informations are quickly visible (see picture
joined).

It would be great also to have in the top bar an icon to access to our
own profile, to see our tweets stream, favorites / likes on each
account, our friends, followings, be able to manage (unfollow, block...)
them directly in Gwibber interface.

And re-add the multi-column view (I opened another wishlist bug for
that).

Main advantage of Gwibber is that it supports more services (not only
Twitter Identica, but Status.net, Facebook, Digg, Foursquare, Flickr,
in the future Google+...) and allows to get all timeline in the same
interface.

We can see Gwibber progress at each update in the ppa, thanks for the
good work :)

[Bug 825689] [NEW] libqt4-dbus: contains an executable in /usr/bin, breaks multiarch, Policy 8.2

2011-08-13 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The libqt4-dbus package ships /usr/bin/qdbus, an executable that links
against libqt4-dbus but does not appear to be used by the library. This
contradicts Debian/Ubuntu policy 8.2:

If your package contains files whose names do not change with each
change in the library shared object version, you must not put them in
the shared library package. Otherwise, several versions of the shared
library cannot be installed at the same time without filename clashes,
making upgrades and transitions unnecessarily difficult.

 [...]

Run-time support programs that use the shared library but are not
required for the library to function or files used by the shared
library that can be used by any version of the shared library package
should instead be put in a separate package. This package might
typically be named `libraryname-tools'; note the absence of the
 soversion in the package name.

This also breaks multiarch, since /usr/bin/qdbus has to be a file of one
architecture or another, preventing installation of multiple copies of
libqt4-dbus.

This is the only program in any of the qt4 library packages, and I think
it was put there by mistake. Debian bug #391726 mentions that qdbus is
a nice to have, and the other tools that were packaged at the same
time were put in libqt4-dev instead. I think the correct course of
action here is to move the file to either libqt4-dev or qt4-dev-tools.

However, I'm sufficiently wary of breaking something here that I
hesitate to just upload the fix - so I'm raising a bug instead.

The bug is not related to totem only.

In general when you drag whatever onto unity dash, the error you are

For example if you try to add a custom launcher the whole compiz + unity

[Bug 823136] Re: Oneiric Ocelot, Alpha 3 - Still the display graphics on Intel i865GvHZ is not appealing (sometimes I see incomplete windows).

2011-08-13 Thread Praveen
Just found a scenario where the above behavior could be easily replicated. Lets
say we have 2 folders opened (1. external drive 2. home folder).
Now we minimize one of the folder and click on the home icon in the launcher.
This would bring up the workspace view where we have an option to select a
window from current workspace or from other workspaces. If we click on the
minimized window (which would be shown as a white window with home icon in
center) to bring it front, it would not be loaded completely. One needs to drag
the window to get this graphics issue corrected.

Thanks,
Praveen
