[Bug 818177] Re: boot failures as /dev is not transferred to /root (because 'udevadm exit' times out waiting for a deadlocked worker)
There are definatly corner cases of this issue still present in Precise. [Bug 905254] [NEW] Compiz's Desktop Cube plug-in only displays 2 workspaces when workspaces are arranged in a 2x2 grid
Public bug reported: When workspaces are arranged in a 2x2 grid (2 horizontal, 2 vertical) the Desktop Cube plug-in will only display the first 2 workspaces (cf. a 4x1 arrangement where the Desktop Cube plug-in will display all 4 workspaces). The reason that this is such an issue for me is that I use the Desktop Cube, Rotate Cube and Expo plug-ins and having a 2x2 arrangement of workspaces is the only way to get a space efficient 2x2 grid with the Expo plug-in. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set desktop to 2x2 workspace arrangement (CCSM General Options Desktop Size) 2. Enable Desktop Cube, Cube Rotate and Expo plug-ins. 3. Trigger Cube Rotate (see that only a sheet, with 2 workspaces, is displayed) 4. [Bug 817979] Re: [bcm5974] annoying random freezes
This is a problem , but I don't believe its because of the kernel module. I was playing around last time this happened and noticed that synclient |grep TouchpadOff gives me TouchpadOff = 1 enabling the touchpad manually made my mouse start working again. in the mouse properties applet there is a checkbox disable touchpad while typing i believe that it sets the touchpadoff = 1 when one is typing, and enabled the touchpad once one stops typing. [Bug 905271] [NEW] update-grub generates syntax error when in_submenu=true in 10_linux
Public bug reported: Because I wanted to boot my system with different kernels I needed to switch-off the submenu's in the grubmenu. (You cannot select a kernel to boot when it's in a submenu (GRUB_DEFAULT in /etc/defaults/grub)) To switch off submenu's I changed 'in_submenu=true' in /etc/grub.d/10_linux After running /usr/sbin/update-grub I got this error: # update-grub Generating grub.cfg ... (see attachment grub.cfg.new) I have patched 10_linux. The problem is (I think) that the variable 'in_submenu' is used twice for different functions. I also changed the meaning of in_submenu. [Bug 850649] Re: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 877438 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877438 Two answer from my side: I'm using twinview multi-head. I only experience it in Unity. Other programs redraw is slowed (for instance it was slow to type in firefox), but generally the issue was much worse in gnome-terminal than other programs. It only comes on some time after start, and sometimes goes away. Goes away quicker on later nvidia drivers (290.03) - on earlier drivers I would need to reboot. Started noticing as soon as I installed 11.10 (I generally reinstall rather than upgrade). I think it's mainly a compiz/unity/nvidia combination bug, but something is making it hit gnome-terminal worse than other programs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850649 Title: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/850649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 840823] Re: Problem at typing latest letter.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 880876 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880876 Drat. I've muddied the waters terribly with my comments above. In comments #35 and #36 above, I was NOT using iBus 1.4.0 (fujiwarat). I thought I was, but when I checked the ibus version (in synaptic) it was 1.3.99.20110419-1ubuntu3 (oneiric) again. I have absolutely no idea how or why my system reverted to 1.3.99 again. Now I've reinstalled 1.4.0-1ubuntu2 (now), with fujiwarat patch, according to #25 above, logged out and in, and my system is fine. I can call TeXstudio from a gnome-shell icon, and it accepts iBus input without error. Also fine are iBus input in terminal, gedit, and jabref (java), and in a Window program under Wine. At the moment, I can't find any problem. So, currently my system appears to be stable and to have no iBus problem. Apologies for all the false error reports in #35 and #36. In case it's relevant, my .bashrc file ends: # for ibus: export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus export GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus export XIM_PROGRAM=ibus-daemon -d export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus export LC_ALL=$LANG export CLUTTER_IM_MODULE=ibus ibus-daemon -rxd I've added the clutter line. Additional info: There are two buttons on the toolbar in Word 2010 – one changes highlight color and the other changes text background color (Word2003 has only one of those) 1. Make a document in LibreOffice that consists of 3+ paraghraph 2. Highlight ENTIRE central paragraph yellow 3. Save as DOC or DOCX 4. Open in Office 2007-2010 5. Anyway, most people, when they see highlighted text in MS Word, assume it is highlighted text, not text background... The sequence, highlighted by MS, which works (you can remove the highlight) is like that: {\rtlch\fcs1 \af37 \ltrch\fcs0 \lang1033\langfe1025\highlight7\langnp1033\insrsid5522236\charrsid3873419 \hich\af37\dbch\af37\loch\f37 This text has been highlighted with Microsoft Word 2007} The sequence that you cannot modify is this one: {\rtlch\fcs1 \af37 \ltrch\fcs0 \lang1033\langfe1025\chshdng0\chcfpat0\chcbpat7\langnp1033\insrsid5522236 \hich\af37\dbch\af37\loch\f37 This text has been modified and highlighted with O\hich\af37\dbch\af37\loch\f37 penoffice (version 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1, Ubuntu Linux 10.04 up-to-date). } Note that if I change \chshdng0\chcfpat0\chcbpat7 to \highlight7 in the rtf file, then MS Word can edit it correctly. The command: sed 's/\\chcbpat/\\highlight/g' in.rtf out.rtf makes a editable file. Saved my day.
