[Bug 911985] Re: configuration to default by reboot

2012-01-15 Thread korst
The ~/.config/dconf/ folder didn't exist. after I installed dconf-
editor(and ran it) and set the rights of ~/.config/dconf/user from 644
to 664. this fixed it for me.

I wasn't able to start the indicator from the command line, because I
didn't know how to shut down/kill the indicator.

[Bug 891620] Re: Add SUPER+TAB switching mode that enables the user to switch applications via the Launcher

2012-01-15 Thread Owais Lone
How does one escape from this? It looks like once you initiate super+tab
switcher, there is no way to come out of it without launching something.
There should be an easy way to come out of this mode without launching
an item.

[Bug 891620] Re: Add SUPER+TAB switching mode that enables the user to switch applications via the Launcher

2012-01-15 Thread Owais Lone
Another major issue I noticed with this is that the it's not circular.
Once you go down to the bottom, you need to shift+tab to go all the way
up. I think making this circular would really really improve the
experience.

Also, if this is termed as a switcher, then I think it should start
from the current active app not from the top.

[Bug 880435] Re: gmusicbrowser does not start

Sorry - md5check seems to be correct. IHMO

achim@L2G2:~$ md5sum /usr/share/gmusicbrowser/plugins/mpris2.pm
dfe2306837104691869482b9d7dd724d  /usr/share/gmusicbrowser/plugins/mpris2.pm

Tryed the fix several times.

I do not often use gmusicbrowser, but if I try to open (Panel, Terminal

[Bug 916906] [NEW] When gparted opens some mounted internal volumes will then show as unmounted in nautilus be removed from unity launcher

2012-01-15 Thread Doug McMahon
Public bug reported:

Attached video will show
As gparted finishes scan the Device list in nautilus is refreshed, some
mounted volumes will return as mounted, some will not

In the example here the 'Vista'/ntfs always properly returns, the '32GB
FileSystem'/Ext4 always returns as unmounted even though in fact it still is
mounted.
The 32 GB volume can't be 're-mounted' from nautilus unless one first truly
unmounts the volume, either from gparted or otherwise or does a log out/in

Others have reported multiple volumes being 'unmounted' consquently
disappearing from unity launcher, I don't have the space to test more
than 2, 1 ntfs, 1 ext 4

[Bug 916903] [NEW] [Kubuntu PPA] Some required packages are not covered

2012-01-15 Thread Ernesto Manriquez
Public bug reported:

This is solely a packaging bug, but it's the root cause of a lot of bugs
for users with the Kubuntu PPAs. Three more packages are required to be
managed in a PPA fashion:

- Akonadi. Oneiric features 1.6.2. That release causes trouble with the
Akonadi-Nepomuk Feeder present in KDE 4.8 RC2. Mail can't be indexed properly.
KDE SC 4.8 requires Akonadi 1.6.90, but that release is not provided through
Kubuntu PPAs.
- Strigi. Oneiric features 0.7.6. There is a 0.7.7 release fixing the indexing
of compressed streams and improving a bit performance. Although no bugs are
caused by it missing, Kubuntu would benefit greatly from an updated Strigi
package in their PPAs.
- Soprano. Oneiric features 2.7.0. That release can't index Nepomuk elements
properly, without leaking memory in dbus-daemon. All the dbus-daemon memory
leak scenarios were fixed in Soprano 2.7.4, but I can't find that release in
Kubuntu PPAs.

Without the proper management of those packages, Kubuntu users will get
a subpar Nepomuk and Akonadi experience, and will suffer from bugs,
memory leaks and performance losses.

shows the change but after I log off and then log on the Wicd icon is
not in the tray. When I open dconf editor, the change I made is gone.

[Bug 841362] Re: [regression oneiric] Impossible to connect to bluetooth devices, bluetooth-applet goes to 100% CPU

2012-01-15 Thread drhex
Slightly different symptoms for me.
I try to connect via bluetooth to a Nokia N900 phone (which worked in Ubuntu
11.04).
The pairing of devices works in 11.10 (get the same 6-digit number on both
devices, confirm and it succeeds).
Browsing from ubuntu 11.10 of the files on the N900 fails with no cpu-hogging.

dmesg gives this line:

[Bug 908766] Re: byobu changes background color in applications

2012-01-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package byobu - 5.3-0ubuntu1

---
byobu (5.3-0ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low

  [ Daniel Hahler ]
  * usr/bin/Makefile.am:
- fix safe link creation

  [ Dustin Kirkland ]
  * usr/share/byobu/profiles/tmux:
- add some whitespace
  * usr/bin/byobu, usr/share/byobu/profiles/tmux: LP: #908766, #900309
- TERM must be 'screen', to work with: a) 256 colors, and
  b) vim/mutt with bce; tmux does not support bce properly
  * usr/bin/byobu: LP: #914424
- use READLINK
  * usr/share/byobu/profiles/tmux:
- add some comments
  * usr/lib/byobu/ec2_cost, usr/lib/byobu/network: LP: #914098
- fix regression from r1839, add colon to IFS
  * usr/share/man/man1/byobu.1: LP: #913817
- mention byobu-select-backend prominently in the manpage
  * usr/bin/byobu-status, usr/share/man/man1/byobu.1: LP: #898065
- support ip_address4 and ip_address6 in the status line
- allows for users to see both ipv4 and ipv6 addresses simultaneously
  rather than one or the other
  * etc/profile.d/Z97-byobu.sh:
- support LC_TERMTYPE=[byobu|byobu-screen|byobu-tmux]
  * etc/profile.d/Z97-byobu.sh, usr/bin/byobu-launcher: LP: #897711
- allow nesting, if LC_BYOBU  1
  * usr/bin/byobu, usr/bin/byobu-janitor, usr/lib/byobu/include/common,
usr/lib/byobu/include/constants:
- for users upgrading from an older version of byobu, where they were
  previously using a screen backend, keep them using a screen backend
- for new users, default to tmux backend
  * usr/bin/byobu, usr/share/byobu/profiles/common: LP: #882067
- maximize the number of windows we can fit in byobu-screen by dropping
  the $SHELL window title
- users can override by setting 'shelltitle' in ~/.screenrc
- fixes a problem where screen hangs when interactively setting shelltitle
- always easy to name a window with F8

  [ Dustin Kirkland and Ryan Thompson ]
  * usr/bin/byobu-reconnect-sockets, usr/bin/byobu-select-session: LP: #908944

[Bug 916890] Re: Waiting for network configuration on every boot

2012-01-15 Thread Stéphane Graber
Just thought of a bunch more that might be useful:
 - /var/log/syslog
 - /var/log/kern.log

And if you don't mind a reboot and know of to do that:
 - reboot with --log appended to the kernel boot command line
 - make a tarball out of /var/log/upstart/* and attach it to the bug

Please note that these upstart logging instructions may cause a kernel
panic at boot time because of an upstart bug (that's why it's not the
current default). If it does, just reboot without the extra --log. We
expect the next upstart upload to fix that bug and then turn logging on
by default (which should make debugging this kind of bug much much
easier).

I had planned to do a review of ifupdown bugs tomorrow morning and try to fix
or reproduce as many as possible so I probably won't spend much more time on
this bug today but hopefully with these few files I should have enough to
figure out what happened.

Thanks

2012-01-15 Thread Stéphane Graber
Sorry, I didn't see your ls -l /run before posting my comment, no need to
paste it again :)
The output also points towards NetworkManager running on this machine, giving
me some idea of what might be broken (though pretty weird that didn't show up
in the tests ...)

[Bug 915408]

2012-01-15 Thread agd5f
The problem is the modeline from your monitor for the 1920x1080 mode is greater
than 165 Mhz which is the current cut off for single link mode in the driver:
(II) RADEON(0): Modeline 1920x1080x60.0  172.78  1920 2040 2248 2576  1080
1081 1084 1118 -hsync +vsync (67.1 kHz)

It should work if you specify a modeline with a lower clock E.g.,
Modeline 1920x1080R  138.50  1920 1968 2000 2080  1080 1083 1088  +hsync

[Bug 916890] Re: Waiting for network configuration on every boot

2012-01-15 Thread Stéphane Graber
Thanks for the above, I didn't find anything obviously wrong in these.

Can you also attach:
 - ls -l /run/
 - ifconfig -a
 - dpkg -l
 - initctl status

One case where the above could be possible is if you only have a
loopback interface on your system and no other interfaces or
NetworkManager doesn't emit net-device-up IFACE=ethX for your other
interfaces.

Hopefully the output from these few commands should help figure out
exactly what's happening or at least help me reproduce the issue on a
system I have around here.

[Bug 893828] Re: Granting Wireshark capture privileges does not allow USB capture

2012-01-15 Thread Balint Reczey
Evan: Thank you for the detailed explanation.

Paul: Not allowing capturing on USB to a regular user is intentional. Keep in
mind that keyboards and storages can be attached via USB and in those cases the
user would be allowed to read any file on the attached storage
or log keys. Wireshark 1.6.5-2 or 1.6.6-1 will contain an updated
README.Debian covering capturing USB packets.

[Bug 769644] Re: lxpanelctl run doesn't work

2012-01-15 Thread Ralf G
First, the bug does not only affect lxpanelctl run but to any lxpanelctl
command. Couldn't the
thread be renamed?

I have this problem running a regular ubuntu 11.10, with lubuntu-desktop.
It seems, the bug appears only in this combination and not in clear
lubuntu-installations.

According to source code, lxpanelctl sends via XSendEvent() an event to
DefaultRootWindow(). As lxpanelctl exits with exit code 0, I suppose the
event was sent correctly. However, it seems, this event never reaches
the xpanel. Anyone here who knows how to debug X11 events? Somewhere I
read, that some window managers/desktop managers replace the X11 root
window in some weird ways. Maybe this is the case here?

[Bug 916928] [NEW] Sofware center not allowing to install / view content

2012-01-15 Thread Nuriyasov
Public bug reported:

I had problems connecting with my EVDO modem using standard network manager.
For this reason I used wvdial, which worked fine. But the problem is that
wvdial does not change the state of the network - network manager applet says
that I'm offline (though i am connected through wvdial and I'm actually writing
this using it). This leads to software center not allowing to install anything
/ view product comments, though it does fetch screenshots.

[Bug 916924] [NEW] expo and grid plugins not work as expected together

2012-01-15 Thread fe...@mail.ru
Public bug reported:

It started after I have updated ubuntu from 11.04 to 11.10.
When I turn on 'grid' and 'expo' plugins together, and use 'grid' plugin by,
for example, pressing Alt+Ctrl+KP1.
What I expect:
Window moves to grid cell at left bottom corner only on current virtual desktop.

What is occurred:
When I switch to another virtual desktop, window has appears and on it, and
it's interface has not gives response on mouse actions

[Bug 900887] Re: New Libunity will need nautilus and empathy rebuild

2012-01-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm marking this as fix released since this was done as Unity 5.0
entered Precise.

I guess there's a secondary issue here for Oneiric users who are trying
to use the staging PPA to get the latest Unity without running Precise.
And there's an OMGUbuntu post that kind of promotes doing just that.

[Bug 669459] Re: Ubuntu installation writes into foreign partitions and MBR without permission, damaging other operating systems on the disk

2012-01-15 Thread Oliver Kluge
So now that a couple of other users say there parition layout has been
killed, too: Could someone at least please markt the bug Confirmed -
as the bug reporter I would be hesitant to do this myself.

It is a shame that no one finds a bug that kills other operating systems
on the disk important enough to introduce a fix. Previously I only
thought Windows would be so anti-social to not respect what other OSes
wrote on the disk.

Re: [Bug 916716] Re: printer stops,

2012-01-15 Thread robert leleu
Thanks for the help. Since my USB printer is connected to the «livebox»,
I’m not in position to follow the instructions of the wiki.
So, from a terminal, I added your repository, but when I reloaded the
reps in Synaptic I received : «Impossible de récupérer
http://ppa.launchpad.net/till-kamppeter/ppa/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/source/Sources

404  Not Found
Impossible de récupérer
http://ppa.launchpad.net/till-kamppeter/ppa/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/binary-i386/Packages

404  Not Found»

However I am able to navigate to
https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa/+packages
but am not able to select the right .deb files for my 11.04 (32) Ubuntu

Thanks for any further help.

skribis (esperanto estas la unua internacia lingvo):
 Does the problem occur only with your USB-based Canon-iX4000 print
 queue or also with the network-based Canon-PIXMA-iX4000-livebox print
 queue? If the problem occurs for both queues, follow the instructions
 below for both queues.

 Please follow the instructions of the sections USB printer, CUPS
 error_log, and Capturing print job data on
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems.

 Install the package

 cups - 1.5.0-8ubuntu7~ppa1

 from my PPA

 https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa

 Its USB backend is based on the new libusb 1.0.x. Perhaps this helps on
 your problem.

 The backend can sttill have bugs, so tell us exactly what the behavior
 is after having installed the new CUPS package.

 Does this package solve the problem for the USB-based queue for you?

[Bug 916605] Re: external monitor not recognised

2012-01-15 Thread Timmie
Maybe displayconfig-gtk is the wrong package? I do not know. I use
11.10.

The thing is called Displays in the system configuration.

** Package changed: displayconfig-gtk (Ubuntu) = ubuntu

[Bug 916605] Re: external monitor not recognised

2012-01-15 Thread Timmie
This is not a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/displayconfig-gtk/+bug/916603

I have 2 different external monitors.
1 is recognised but the display settings not kept persistent = lost after a new
boot.
the second is not recognised.
