[Bug 916903] [NEW] [Kubuntu PPA] Some required packages are not covered
Public bug reported: This is solely a packaging bug, but it's the root cause of a lot of bugs for users with the Kubuntu PPAs. Three more packages are required to be managed in a PPA fashion: - Akonadi. Oneiric features 1.6.2. That release causes trouble with the Akonadi-Nepomuk Feeder present in KDE 4.8 RC2. Mail can't be indexed properly. KDE SC 4.8 requires Akonadi 1.6.90, but that release is not provided through Kubuntu PPAs. - Strigi. Oneiric features 0.7.6. There is a 0.7.7 release fixing the indexing of compressed streams and improving a bit performance. Although no bugs are caused by it missing, Kubuntu would benefit greatly from an updated Strigi package in their PPAs. - Soprano. Oneiric features 2.7.0. That release can't index Nepomuk elements properly, without leaking memory in dbus-daemon. All the dbus-daemon memory leak scenarios were fixed in Soprano 2.7.4, but I can't find that release in Kubuntu PPAs. Without the proper management of those packages, Kubuntu users will get a subpar Nepomuk and Akonadi experience, and will suffer from bugs, memory leaks and performance losses. ** Affects: kubuntu-packaging Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: kubuntu ** Also affects: kubuntu-packaging Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: kubuntu ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #246678 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=246678 ** Changed in: kubuntu-packaging Importance: Undecided = Unknown ** Changed in: kubuntu-packaging Status: New = Unknown ** Changed in: kubuntu-packaging Remote watch: None = KDE Bug Tracking System #246678 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/916903 Title: [Kubuntu PPA] Some required packages are not covered To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-packaging/+bug/916903/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 916890] Re: Waiting for network configuration on every boot
Just thought of a bunch more that might be useful: - /var/log/syslog - /var/log/kern.log And if you don't mind a reboot and know of to do that: - reboot with --log appended to the kernel boot command line - make a tarball out of /var/log/upstart/* and attach it to the bug Please note that these upstart logging instructions may cause a kernel panic at boot time because of an upstart bug (that's why it's not the current default). If it does, just reboot without the extra --log. We expect the next upstart upload to fix that bug and then turn logging on by default (which should make debugging this kind of bug much much easier). I had planned to do a review of ifupdown bugs tomorrow morning and try to fix or reproduce as many as possible so I probably won't spend much more time on this bug today but hopefully with these few files I should have enough to figure out what happened. [Bug 916890] Re: Waiting for network configuration on every boot
Thanks for the above, I didn't find anything obviously wrong in these. Can you also attach: - ls -l /run/ - ifconfig -a - dpkg -l - initctl status One case where the above could be possible is if you only have a loopback interface on your system and no other interfaces or NetworkManager doesn't emit net-device-up IFACE=ethX for your other interfaces. [Bug 769644] Re: lxpanelctl run doesn't work
First, the bug does not only affect lxpanelctl run but to any lxpanelctl command. Couldn't the thread be renamed? I have this problem running a regular ubuntu 11.10, with lubuntu-desktop. It seems, the bug appears only in this combination and not in clear lubuntu-installations. According to source code, lxpanelctl sends via XSendEvent() an event to DefaultRootWindow(). As lxpanelctl exits with exit code 0, I suppose the event was sent correctly. However, it seems, this event never reaches the xpanel. Anyone here who knows how to debug X11 events? Re: [Bug 916716] Re: printer stops,
Thanks for the help. Since my USB printer is connected to the «livebox», I’m not in position to follow the instructions of the wiki. So, from a terminal, I added your repository, but when I reloaded the reps in Synaptic I received : «Impossible de récupérer http://ppa.launchpad.net/till-kamppeter/ppa/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found Impossible de récupérer http://ppa.launchpad.net/till-kamppeter/ppa/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found» However I am able to navigate to https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa/+packages but am not able to select the right .deb files for my 11.04 (32) Ubuntu Thanks for any further help.
