[Bug 513179] Re: Intel WiMAX card is listed as Wired connection type, not Wireless

2012-03-20 Thread Maarten Bezemer
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 513179 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 520773] Re: WORKGROUP domain entry box not shown in Kubuntu add network folder dialog for samba shares

2012-03-20 Thread Maarten Bezemer
With an up-to-date KDE it is possible to add a Samba printer using the 'Printer
Configuration':
 * Click 'New Printer'
 * Choose 'Windows Printer via SAMBA'
 * Fill in the printer URL (and other details if required).

For me this works to use shared windows printers. Could you confirm this
solves your problem as well?

[Bug 960076] Re: LibreOffice saves my files, next time I attempt to open them it says they're corrupt

2012-03-20 Thread joehill
I was able to reproduce it with this scaled-down document (I'm not
sending the original problem documents because they're unpublished
papers that shouldn't be available publicly yet). All documents work on
my other computer. I think the problem may be that for some reason
Ubuntu has created 1MB /tmp directory that has nothing to do with the
actual space on my hard drive. I'm trying unsuccessfully to get that
solved now.

But I think for the moment that the problem is not with LibreOffice
(although it may be nice to have a more specific error message, such as
that /tmp has no room on it, to help diagnose the problem, since
messages about lacking permission, file locking, and file corruption may
have nothing to do with the actual problem). I'll update if I get the
/tmp fixed and can determine whether that's the problem.

[Bug 520773] Re: WORKGROUP domain entry box not shown in Kubuntu add network folder dialog for samba shares

2012-03-20 Thread Sean Fitzpatrick
I'm no longer running KDE (turns out I like Unity...) and I don't have a
Windows network to deal with any more. But it sounds like this would
solve the printer issue. However there would still the issue of
accessing the so-called M: drive.

[Bug 513179] Re: Intel WiMAX card is listed as Wired connection type, not Wireless

2012-03-20 Thread Grigory Rechistov
I do not own that Wimax device anymore for quite some time since I've
posted this bug. Moreover, the corresponding Wimax network in Russia
will cease to exist in less than a month (all hail LTE). That's why I
suggest that this issue is to be marked as Won't fix unless someone
else is really concerned about it.

[Bug 960103] [NEW] bluetooth-applet Segmentation fault

2012-03-20 Thread Andrey Gelman
Public bug reported:

Generic bluetooth dongle on a PC.
From the PC connect to a mobile phone - Sony Ericsson C510a.
I choose to Browse files on device ...
Problem 1:
In the Select device to browse dialog, the list of known devices is not seen,
rather a thin slit where the device name (C510a) may hardly be seen. Moreover,
there is no possibility to increase this slit to see the device name in full
size.
Problem 2:
After selecting the device (with a precise click in the slit with the tip of
the mouse), I go to Nautilus file browser where I see the C510a device has
appeared on the side pane.
However, at this point dmesg already contains the report that bluetooth-applet
has exited with a segfault:
[60916.711828] bluetooth-apple[4428]: segfault at 80 ip 7f15d17f4cf4 sp
7fffd9ad28c0 error 4 in libgnome-bluetooth.so.8.0.0[7f15d17e4000+1a000]
Note:
- With this setup - always reproducible
- Upload PC - Phone seemingly works

2012-03-20 Thread Gioele Barabucci
This problem is still present in Ubuntu Precise 12.04 (daily live CD

The kernel version is 3.2.0-19-generic-pae.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing

** Description changed:

I have an Intel ICH8 + Realtek ALC883 onboard chip on my motherboard.

Everything works fine but the volume is very low even when all the
  controls are at 100%.

I found this line in dmesg:
hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC883, trying auto-probe from BIOS...
This bug is probably related to bug #77024 (nVidia based mb) and bug #64356
(ICH3 chipset).

[Bug 937296] Re: Re-activating wireless freezes laptop in Oneiric

2012-03-20 Thread Victor Marin
I have tried to test the latest upstream kernel as advised, by downloading the
.deb package with the
linux-image-3.3.0-030300-generic_3.3.0-030300.201203182135_amd64, then
installing it.

After restarting the machine the new kernel hangs up before entering the
desktop, a black screen it's all shown, so I was unable to test this upstream
kernel; Also, it didn't work to startx it in recovery mode.

I'm writing this with the standard kernel installed in Oneiric.

[Bug 960126] [NEW] kern.log full of nf_ct_sip complaints

2012-03-20 Thread LaMont Jones
Public bug reported:

netfilter really hates cisco 7940 phones. Please let me know what I can do to
help track down how to at least get this clutter out of the log.
(It's been doing it since at least lucid - that's when the phone was added, the
below is with 3.2.0-19-generic-pae.)

thanks,
