[Bug 980787] Re: openstack-dashboard breaks with option DEBUG =False in config file

2012-04-16 Thread Gabriel Hurley
This is a valid bug, but it's solely in the upstream package's apache
configuration. Setting DEBUG=False turns off the development server's
static media serving (as it should). That means any
installation/deployment not for development needs a properly-configured
webserver to serve the site and its static media.

[Bug 97513] Re: Squid requires restart after Network Manager made connection to network

2012-04-16 Thread Digulla-hepe
I can't confirm this. I'm on Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric with squid
2.7.STABLE9-4ubuntu4 and the bug is still there.

I tried to start squid after networking by changing the start on line
in /etc/init/squid.conf to

start on (started networking)

but that doesn't help. The cache.log still says:

2012/04/16 08:52:37| Warning: Could not find any nameservers. Trying to use
localhost
2012/04/16 08:52:37| Please check your /etc/resolv.conf file
2012/04/16 08:52:37| or use the 'dns_nameservers' option in squid.conf.

Thanks for reporting this bug.

The output (in particular '(null)' looks strange.

Is lxc installed in the container? In particular, does it have
/usr/lib/lxc/lxc-init and all its dependencies installed?

Can you give the contents of debug.out after running:

   lxc-execute -l DEBUG -o debug.out -n test /bin/bash

[Bug 980189] Re: Database not upgraded while upgrading bacula

2012-04-16 Thread James Page
Hi Thomas

The upgrade script for 12-14 for postgresql can be found in /usr/share
/bacula-director.

Does your installation use dbconfig? I believe that this should
automatically upgrade the database but if you are not using dbconfig you
will need to run this script manually.

Thnaks

[Bug 974938] [NEW] Process gsettings prevents logging in

2012-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I try to login with my newly upgraded Ubuntu 12.04 (development
branch), nothing happens. It just shows the same empty background that
LightDm has.

I have found one solution to get myself logged: If I go to virtual
console and display what processes I have, there are about six
processes, and one of them is gsettings. It does not consume any CPU
resources, and when I kill it (with -3), the login process immediately
continues and finally gets me logged in. To my knowledge, gsettings
comes from package libglib2.0-bin and I have version 2.32.0-1ubuntu1 of
it.

How to reproduce:
1 Try to log in.
2 Wait for several minutes to be sure it is stuck
3 Go to virtual console and killall -3 gsettings
4 Logging in immediately continues and finally completes in few seconds

Possible causes:
1 I'm using LDAP. My user information comes from LDAP-server, and this has
caused lots of other logging problems, thanks to software developers not
realizing the fact, that people use stuff like LDAP.
2 I had some problems when upgrading to 12.04, so that might have screwed
things up. The funny thing is, that logging in works on my other PC, which has
almost identical system and package configuration. So if you give me some
hints, I can try to compare differences between them.

  Notes:
qemu-kvm librados builds are blocked on bug 932898 being fix released.

No formal spec needed IMO, this is just a pile of straight forward
  actions.

   * gceph is not reasonable to be in main (upstream doesnt want to
  support)

Today rbd is loaded loaded at runtime

   - MIR librbd and librados for qemu/kvm
    - compile qemu-kvm with ceph (rbd, rados) block device support, see:
   - MIR all of ceph for hosting ceph
   - include latest libvirt rbd support (for rbd authentication)
   - Existing Openstack Support
     - Nova since cactus can use CEPH for block
     - Diablo added glance support for CEPH for image storage
   - Dreamhost using mainline BTRFS and debian kernel for current deployment
  - Dreamhost launching at scale in a few weeks
  - CEPH is an independent business unit under Dreamhost
  - Dreamhost using fastcgi + apache for rados gateway (can use nginx, too)

   Dependencies:
   modfast-cgi
  Concerns;
  - Upstream makes a release every 2 weeks
  - No stable release branches upstream
  - Limited deployment outside Dreamhost
  - unencrypted over the wire
    - apps can implement security on top of it
    - IPv6 is supported
  Additional Opportunities:
  - Integrate tightly with OpenStack in packaging
  - Add support for ceph in juju openstack charms
  - BTRFS ideal, XFS also working well, ext4 missing large xattr support
  - Upstream asserts that CEPH is under heavy development (cmdline programs
remind user at every execution)
   - in the openstack use case, for kvm, there is no need for kernel code at all
    - if we want to support xen, it would require using the block device kernel
code for rdb
  Support Targets:
  - RBD

[Bug 980680] Re: login screen stuck at 60Hz with CRT monitor

2012-04-16 Thread Christian Kroll
The X server starts with the correct vertical refresh rate (according to
the log) and then it gets changed to 60 Hz as soon as the Unity greeter
shows up. It stays that way in the desktop session (which is XFCE4 in my
case) and I have to correct the refresh rate manually with Nvidia's
configuration tool. While this is a non-issue for TFT owners, it is
really painful for CRT users like me.

[Bug 982803] [NEW] Alert volume is set to zero by default

2012-04-16 Thread László Monda
Public bug reported:

Upon installing Ubuntu 11.10 the default alert volume is set to zero.
Before realizing this I was trying to figure out why I cannot hear any
notification sound in Skype and that was the reason. The alert volume
should be set to a sensible default that is larger than zero.

(I'm not completely sure whether it's a problem of the pulseaudio
package but that's my best guess.)

Unusual as I have a GTX470 on one machine and GTX260 on another. Both

the new nvidia driver and both work fine.

This bug hasn't affected 12.04 beta 2 64bit. I have tried to replicate
it on two seperate machines.

Machine 1 (GTX470) Running 12.04 beta 2 with all latest updates - Working Fine
Machine 2 (GTX260) Running 12.04 beta 2 with all latest updates - Working Fine

Must be limited to i386? Can Anyone confirm?

2012-04-16 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in linux.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 982820] [NEW] Greybird metacity window title off-centre

2012-04-16 Thread Jo Franklin
Public bug reported:

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature but the Greybird metacity window
title is off-centre.

This is due to the following lines of code in
/usr/share/themes/Greybird/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml

!-- ::: TITLES ::: --
draw_ops name=title
title color=shade/gtk:bg[NORMAL]/1.30 x=((width - title_width) / 2)
-36 `max` 0 y=1 `max` ((height-title_height)/2)+1/
title color=shade/gtk:bg[NORMAL]/0.50 x=((width - title_width) / 2)
-36 `max` 0 y=0 `max` ((height-title_height)/2)/
/draw_ops

draw_ops name=title_unfocused
title color=shade/gtk:bg[NORMAL]/1.15 x=((width - title_width) / 2)
-36 `max` 0 y=1 `max` ((height-title_height)/2)+1/
title color=shade/gtk:bg[NORMAL]/0.70 x=((width - title_width) / 2)
-36 `max` 0 y=0 `max` ((height-title_height)/2)/
/draw_ops

To centre the titles the -36 should be changed to -0.

This also exists upstream in the theme available from the shimmer
project's own website, so may be a design choice rather than a bug.

[Bug 980787] Re: openstack-dashboard breaks with option DEBUG =False in config file

2012-04-16 Thread Gabriel Hurley
This is a valid bug, but it's solely in the upstream package's apache
configuration. Setting DEBUG=False turns off the development server's
static media serving (as it should). That means any
installation/deployment not for development needs a properly-configured
webserver to serve the site and its static media.

[Bug 982822] [NEW] submenus don't render on first attempt

2012-04-16 Thread Ralf Hildebrandt
Public bug reported:

My bookmarks are grouped in folders. *Sometimes*, chromium won't display
the contents of such a subfolder (see attached screenshot).

The contents are NOT shown, instead, only a (transparent!) box is rendered.
Only the borders of the box are faintly visible.
In my screenshot, you can see the box to the left of the entry Braunschweig.

Moving the mouse pointer away (so the box closes) and back (the box
reopens) allows the contents to be rendered (that's my workaround).
While moving the mouse pointer away, I get to see the invisible contents
of the menu for a split second.

I tried to reproduce this with Firefox, but I didn't get this effect
there, so I think it's a chromium issue.

[Bug 982767] Re: aptdaemon crashes during update-manager run: Could not cancel transaction

2012-04-16 Thread Edward Donovan
Hi Steve, thanks very much for responding.

Your questions demonstrate that I do not yet know how apport and LP
match duplicates, and more, and I may be using some terms poorly.

But how exactly did apport send you there?

Apport popped up its window and asked me to file. I clicked 'Continue'
on the local apport client, and it told me the bug was already reported,
and opened bug 628104. I think the client-side duplicate checking
matched it.

There is no bug pattern in place for bug #628104 and never has been.

I see I don't know the bug system well enough. It looks like it's
matching the traceback, with the several lines of python error output,
ending in AptDaemonError: org.debian.apt: Could not cancel
transaction. I don't yet know the difference between that and a proper
bug pattern, then.

Nor did you file a new bug report and have it marked as a duplicate by
the retracer.

I did not, since I saw other users had done so, and the retracer had
duped them back to 628104. I intended to file that bug, then I realized
it had been done, as in comments 7 and 8, there:

When the crach occured the system claimed it was already reported and
opened this bug.

I now manually uploaded it as Bug #915413

  --

I had this crash occur in precise as well. Note that #915413 was
marked as a duplicate of this bug.

I tried to follow what the system wanted, and uploaded my crash file
there. (https://launchpadlibrarian.net/99074345/_usr_bin_update-
manager.1000.crash)

Eventually, it seemed I had to try filing this bug, purposefully without
the traceback, to make an open bug report.

Did apport really send you there at all, or did you simply follow a
link to that bug in your browser when offered as a possibly similar
existing bug?

Yes, apport sent me there directly, same as the user I quote above.
I've seen the possibly similar screen, but apport did not have these
questions in this case. The recent comments on 628104 look like they're
generally coming straight via apport.

The only new bug report filed against update-manager or aptdaemon
showing this crash is bug #976889, which was filed a week ago.

Ah, I can't see that one; don't know if it's private, or what.

Rather than new reports, there are a number of users filing new comments
on 628104, because apport and/or LP send them there. That's what I'm
being dogged about here -- it appears users now can't file a new bug, if
they follow apport. Nor open the old one So I've been trying to get
human attention, in case it's needed.

It has appeared, and it's only my best effort to understand, that new
reports are falling into a little hole in the system. I'm rather sorry
if I seem to come off as a crank. I've seen the new reports slowly
accumulating on that bug, and wondered if it was my little user duty to
do more. Thanks.

[Bug 980616] Re: Printing Deutsche Bahn ticket on Kyocera PS printer takes 5 minutes (regression to 11.10)

2012-04-16 Thread cliddell
As there is no transparency, no shaded fills and no CIDFonts in this
file, there is nothing which is really affected by changing the
resolution for ps2write.

Given the error observed above, I would guess this is another filter
problem.

If Felix can attach the PS from Till's test PDF, I can take a look, and
create some tests to *possibly* help track down the problem.

Also, can we confirm *exactly* the command line being used to drive
Ghostscript in this case (sorry, but with all the changes recently, I've
slightly lost track!).

[Bug 982459] Re: Belarusian locale: ubuntuone-control-panel-qt crashed with KeyError in __init__(): u'support'

2012-04-16 Thread Roman Yepishev
ARE_YOU_SURE_HELP = _('If you need to know more about Ubuntu One, then '
'please go to {support_url}')

In translation:
Калі вы жадаеце больш даведацца пра Ubuntu One, перайдзіце на адрас
{support...url}

I fixed the translation, adding the language-pack-be as affected.

To fix it locally, copy the attached ubuntuone-control-panel.mo file to
/usr/share/locale-langpack/be/LC_MESSAGES/ubuntuone-control-panel.mo
