[Bug 987498] Re: Unity/compiz freeze but mouse still move
It may be related to Thunderbird when it received a new mail, but only sometime. Indeed I'm able to get a failsafe desktop when unity/compiz freeze by using unity-2d/metacity, and then I notice that Thunderbird window that was minimized cannot display it content (unity-2d show a dark window). I've noticed that twice so far, so I'm still not sure but it may help. To get back on unity-2d/metacity do the following things: Ctrl-Alt-F1 [wait until it switch; that can take about 30 seconds] [login] killall -9 compiz DISPLAY=0:0 metacity --replace DISPLAY=0:0 unity-2d-panel DISPLAY=0:0 unity-2d-shell killall -9 compiz Ctrl-Alt-F7 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987498 Title: Unity/compiz freeze but mouse still move To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/987498/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 996435] [NEW] resolvconf uses awk bug doesn't Depend on it
Public bug reported: After the latest bugfix (in versions 1.63ubuntu13 and 1.65ubuntu2) the difference between the Debian and Ubuntu lsattr-checking code in resolvconf.postinst is this: -echo_first_arg() { echo $1 ; } is_immutable_file() { [ $1 ] || return 2 [ -e $1 ] || return 1 [ ! -L $1 ] || return 1 - which lsattr /dev/null 21 || return 2 - echo_first_arg $(lsattr $1) | grep -sq i + + ATTR=$(lsattr $1 2/dev/null) + [ -z $ATTR ] return 1 + echo $ATTR | awk '$1 ~ /i/ { exit 0; }; { exit 1; }' } It isn't obvious to me why grep was replaced with awk here. The resulting code is slower and not much more readable, so why change it? To suppress lsattr error messages it would have sufficed to do this: - echo_first_arg $(lsattr $1) | grep -sq i + echo_first_arg $(lsattr $1 2/dev/null) | grep -sq i I'll include this change in the next Debian version; but if you can explain to me why the awk code is better then I'll adopt that. A remaining issue is that the resolvconf package doesn't Depend on awk and awk is not Essential (although it is Depended upon by base-files which is Essential). Is this a problem? ** Affects: resolvconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996435 Title: resolvconf uses awk bug doesn't Depend on it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/996435/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 955138] Re: previous short description is displayed
Hello, I am almost sure the problem happens only because of the incorrect description field syntax in the original deb file. The same syntax issue in bricscadv11 and bricscadv12 deb files causes a distribution upgrade problem. http://linuxaideddesign.blogspot.com/2012/03/important-notice-for-bricscad-linux.html https://www.bricsys.com/common/support/forumthread.jsp?id=18173 https://www.bricsys.com/common/support/forumthread.jsp?id=16420 It would be great if the upgrade system could recover from the incorrect syntax. After all the incorrect syntax was accepted by an old version of dpkg. However, I would understand if such recovery is deemed too specific. Hello, my update in place to 12.04 was successful. I can now print. From reading upstream, it seems that the first print job doesn't get authentication and you have to delete it.. hen you are able to print. So I proceeded this way: - print from firefox No authentication box - in cups web administration page I see the job as failed - delete job - start another job in firefox Now I get the authorization window and am able to print NOTE: I don't know if it is a problem of the windows print server in place I'm using, but with the default settings the print job keeps staying in waiting to complete. So that if you run another job, it stays on hold because the former has not completed. Same problem here Upgraded from Ubuntu Desktop 64bit 11.10 to 12.04 (both with gnome- shell) The printer was still visible when i finished upgrading, but wouldn't print... [Bug 996454] [NEW] Recovery Mode starts in read-only, does not mount home folder, and hangs when trying to do something
Public bug reported: Starting with 12.04, when I boot into Recovery Mode: 1. The file-system is read-only. 2. The home folder is not mounted (if on a separate partition). 3. Choosing to check all disks or to start in low-res graphics mode asks to mount read-write but then appears to hang; Ctrl-C is required to get back to the menu. 4. I also notice that on 11.04, Recovery Mode uses smaller text (taking advantage of the monitor's resolution), whereas 12.04 uses large text. What should happen: 1. File-system read-write, or at least a *working* option to change to read-write. 2. The home folder is mounted. 3. Check all disks or start low-res graphics should do just that, instead of hanging. 4. The text should use the available resolution of the monitor. It is as if the Recovery Mode has not been tested at all. (I cannot use ubuntu-bug to report the error, as it wants a specific package, which of course does not apply here.) System: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit, fully updated. [Bug 993794] Re: Precise resolvconf+dnsmasq setup breaks login in some wireless networks
No, unfortunately, I do not think it is that. If I start with my machine OFF, I switch it on and boot, then I already have the issue. The machine connects to the wifi, but when I open the browser I cannot reach the authentication screen because the name of the authentication host cannot be resolved. If I try to resolve it with 'host' or 'dig', it cannot be resolved. If I copy the nameserver entries from the dnsmasq configuration to /etc/resolv.conf then everything is fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993794 Title: Precise resolvconf+dnsmasq setup breaks login in some wireless networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/993794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 987498] Re: Unity/compiz freeze but mouse still move
I have the same problem. I use a freshly installed Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits, and when I log under unity (3d) the GUI freezes after some time randomly. It can be when I surf the web with firefox or when I read a pdf file in evince. The mouse still moves on the screen, but nothing happens when I click somewhere. The system goes on working, for example, the music in rythmbox does not stop. All I can do is to Ctrl-Alt-F1 and get a console. I think the problem is due to compiz, as no problem occurs when I log under unity2d. [Bug 996467] [NEW] Hangs loading pages
Public bug reported: Intermittantly Chromium refuses to load a page, saying it's Waiting for host, but basically something's up and it will never display the page. Hit refresh as much as you like, very rarely will this work. Restart the browser and it will usually work. Obviously this is not always a suitable option. Obviously you're going to say ah ha, maybe it IS the webserver, but I have firefox along side and it never has any trouble on the same pages at the same time. [Bug 996473] [NEW] Status selections in drop down menu do not work

[Bug 995401] Re: Ubuntu 12.04: keyboard layout does not change languages
The whole keyboard layout is quite buggy. Now if I remove norwegian and keep only the greek lanugage and then put the norwegian back in it works but the indicator on the top shows always the wrong language (norwegian for greek and greek for norwegian). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995401 Title: Ubuntu 12.04: keyboard layout does not change languages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/995401/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
