[Bug 1020436] Re: Cannot read superblock after FC multipath failover
The root cause was in fact the lvm.conf filter, but explicitly not for the reason you'd think. The issue is that if I added a|.*| into regex array, it was ignoring my 'sd[b-z]', loop and ram exclusions, both singly and in combination. It seems to be an obscure issue with the use of square brackets inside the regex in certain ways. Eg if I use the line: filter = [ a|.*|, r|.*| ] or filter = [ a|.*|, r|loop| ] Then this filters _everything_ in the first example, or just loop devices respectively... just as you would expect. However as soon as I use something like: filter = [ a|.*|, r|loop[0-9]| ] Then I don't get any filtering at all... except that defining _only_ the removal filters, per: filter = [ r|loop[0-9]+| ] .. and other filters of that ilk DO work as expected -- so long as I remove the accept-all regex. I'm not sure if this parsing behaviour is intended -- it could be to do with the way the array is encapsulated. Even this line works as expected: filter = [ a|.*|, r|sd.[b-z]| ] -- Possibly since placing the the match-any-single-character (.) in there changes the behaviour. The filter currently in use works as expected and looks like: filter = [ r|sd[b-z]|, r|ram[0-9]+|, r|loop[0-9]+|, ] After update-initramfs and reboot, I can successfully disable paths, and the failover works perfectly. Your insight is much appreciated, I would never have expected /dev/mapper/mpath0 to become aliased to a single disk target. I suspect that what has actually happened is that things were working perfectly for a time, but then broke upon a reboot of the server. Ie, due to the lack of filtering, LVM jumbled the detected volumes at boot time (due to the way /dev is traversed) such that mpath0 was actually pointing at a fixed location eg /dev/sdb rather than being multipathed as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020436 Title: Cannot read superblock after FC multipath failover To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1020436/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1029777] Re: Use overlayfs in lxc-clone
Thanks, this is something we do want to support. One thing we need to consider is that the original container or base rootfs cannot be deleted or the cloned container will disappear. This requires some special new checks in lxc-destroy. Overlayfs does have some bugs which are not being resolved quickly. (At least /proc/$pid/maps being corrupted, there may be more). Ephemeral containers are deemed more 'experimental' than 'real' containers, so it may be worth waiting to support overlayfs in lxc-clone, which produces real containers, until those are resolved. [Bug 1021530] Re: [SRU] update to include stable fixes for OVS 1.4
A PPC failure would not block publishing of other arches into precise- proposed. In fact, openvswitch failed on PPC for the release as well. Its a port architecture so it won't block the release/cause removal if it only FTBFS on PPC. The package update may have been delayed a bit, but i see openvswitch- datapath-dkms in http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise- proposed/universe/binary-amd64/Packages.gz Ben, we'd love to know what bugs have been fixed in the 1.4 branch and bring them into the distro as updates if they meet our usual criteria for updates. We often import whole upstream patch-only releases, we just ask that either all bugs fixed be documented so we can review the changes and test that the fix works, or that you document your own regression avoidance procedures so we can make a judgement call on whether that meets ubuntu users' needs for stability. If it looks good, we can look at doing a micro release exception for openvswitch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvswitch in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1021530 Title: [SRU] update to include stable fixes for OVS 1.4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1021530/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1028470] Re: apache2+ssl hangs on high load
One thing to consider as a workaround to this is to use php5-fpm for per-user PHP, running a daemon per user. This has the additional benefit of being able to limit each user's memory usage individually. You can then switch to apache worker, which I'm sure does not have this issue. This should also be quite a bit more memory efficient as static files will be served from the apache threads rather than all 1000+ processes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1028470 Title: apache2+ssl hangs on high load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/1028470/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

This requires the above config file; otherwise the name can't be owned by dnsmasq and DBus messages will fail. dnsmasq-base should ship the file along with the dnsmasq binary; all other arch-indep files from dnsmasq can stay where they are. ** Affects: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (mathieu-tl) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (mathieu-tl) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029977 Title: dnsmasq-base should ship the dnsmasq dbus configuration file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1029977/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1018579] Re: dovecot panic
As stated on IRC, I did a minimal regression check, getting a precise container working with postfix and dovecot, sending a couple of test e-mails, retrieving them from dovecot, then upgrading to the new packages and testing again. The race is apparently difficult to hit and doesn't have a clear test case. The patch was taken from upstream so it's hopefully sane. Marking this bug verification-done on the basis that it's been waiting for almost 30 days and doesn't show any sign of regression. ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018579 Title: dovecot panic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dovecot/+bug/1018579/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I can't replicate this with postfix and apt, so I suspect the puppet involvement being where the issue is. [Bug 1027061] Re: Postfix upgrade to 2.9.3-2~12.04.1 changes configuration files
It should be easy to reproduce this. Simply installing postfix on a fresh server installation in the background (so without any use interaction) and then chenging the configuration file should do it. Puppet does nothing special with the package. Also, it uses aptitude to install it, if that makes any difference. Kurt- Thanks for the report. From the looks of it, nova is having problems import the webob.exc module in the postinst. This is strange, as python-webob is a dependency of python-nova, both of which are installed according the logs. I'm curious--apport is reporting this is a fresh installation and not an upgrade, but dpkg is finding existing nova configuration where its expecting to install new stuff. Is there a chance you've already installed nova via some other means (devstack?) and the systems python environment is a bit out of skew? If the system is still stuck on this installation, can you try to manually import the webob.exc module and test if there is an import error? [Bug 1020883] Re: virt-manager does not start after 10.04 to 12.04 upgrade
Virt-manager simply displayed the output. In fact I was finally able to sort out what went wrong. At some point back in an earlier installation, certain parts of the virtual environment were installed under /usr/local. That installation had not been removed with the upgrade. For some unknown reason, the python libraries in that got pulled when virt- manager was started and the version of those libraries were 0.600.0 (not the one actually installed on my system). In my case, the solution was to remove the remains of the old installation. Although I cannot reproduce the bug at will, this is what I did: 1) Run xset dpms force off 2) Wait 10 minutes until the screen locks automatically 3) Type something on the keyboard to wake up the computer 4) Result: Screen turns on (the laptop was NOT suspended), but it is not blank, I can see my desktop, but the mouse/keyboard can't interact with it. The mouse changes to a cursor in the center of the screen, where the space to input the password should be. This is, hence, very similar in the result, as the mouse changes to a cursor, but the screen cannot be unlocked. (I did try to put my password to no avail). Hope this helps to tackle this down. Sorry if it isn't too clear, let me know if I should explain again anything. [Bug 1029640] Re: Bad characters in Python logger output when using rsyslog
Here's the requirements: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#SRU_Bug_Template It doesn't have to be very formal, just provide the needed information. I did quickly try one python application I use that uses syslog and I did not immediately see this behavior. If you can whip up a couple of lines of python to use to trigger the case, that would be helpful too. Other than the test case, the other things in the template are trivial. [Bug 1029788] [NEW] HUD could include compiz window management menu
Public bug reported: It would be a really useful addition to the HUD if the compiz window management menu (currently accessed via right clicking on a window header) could be accessed via the HUD.
