[Bug 303029] Re: Initialize Layer Mask to: Channel drop-down box is grayed out.
It looks like this is the intended, though unintuitive behavior. If I right-click on the 'Red' channel and choose 'Duplicate Channel', it creates a fifth channel named 'Red Channel Copy' which does get listed in the 'Add Layer Mask' window. My understanding now is that the 'Red' channel is not actually a channel, despite being called one. ** Changed in: gimp (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303029 Title: Initialize Layer Mask to: Channel drop-down box is grayed out. [Bug 1038733] [NEW] LDAP address book doesn't search LDAP server
Public bug reported: When I add an LDAP address book, Evolution won't search the database. I've entered the following information for the address book: The Server field contains crtdir.certifikat.dk, and the port is 389. I've specified an insecure connection (that is, without SSL or TLS) and anonymous login. The login field is left empty. In the details tab, the search base is c=DK, and the search tree is specified as subtree. The search filter is left empty. The above LDAP server answers queries that are performed from the command line; for example: ldapsearch -x -h crtdir.certifikat.dk -b c=DK mail=w...@blazingangles.com will return its search results for the email address w...@blazingangles.com. For debugging, I set up an LDAP server on my own computer. According to the LDAP debug log set to max debugging level, evolution doesn't even seem to attempt to connect to the LDAP server. [Bug 1038044] Re: munin-node: apt_all does not Grok Ubuntu (possible regression)
I have installed this on my test systems (mixture of Debian and Ubuntu), and will post after this has run a few hours. There should be no unexpected cron spam. If there isn't, I would request that the patch be reviewed again and considered for inclusion in Ubuntu. Clearly the fix part of this needs to get into Ubuntu; I would kind of like for this to go upstream as well, definitely to Debian and if possible to the main munin project. When (if?) the patch is adopted in Ubuntu I will submit it to munin. [Bug 1038738] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not show the Library Location
Public bug reported: Once again, I accidentally opened Rhythmbox and it started importing a lot of something—I don't know what. Since I prefer to have control over what parts of my computer Rhythmbox uses, I opened 'Rhythmbox Preferences' ▸ 'Music' with the intention of dissuading it from rampaging through whatever location it has defaulted to. Rhythmbox still displays: Music files are placed in: Multiple locations set Even as I write this its progress bar is bouncing away, doing... something. I have no idea what it's doing. [Bug 1038468] Re: data loss on sort -u
** Description changed: Last year a bug was reported to upstream coreutils [1] about problems on using 'sort -u'. Until recently, there was no known reproducing process; one such process was published last week [2]. Although triggering the bug can be said to be a non-completely trivial use case, data loss in 'sort' should be looked at as a serious issue. Today Jim Meyering committed what looks like the final touches of the fix (incidentally also solving a different issue (a free memory read), also in 'sort'. There are 4 commits affected, and they are shown starting in [3]. Given this is a data loss potential, I am opening this bug for all - affected releases (this bug affects Coreutils 8.9 onwards -- Precise and + affected releases (this bug affects Coreutils 8.6 onwards -- Precise and Quantal). I am still to run the tests on Lucid, Natty, and Oneiric. Below is what I did and it solved my brightness problem. the original doc can be found here: http://www.techjail.net/solved-brightness-problem-in-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin.html Open terminal ( Ctrl+Alt+T ) and type: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub You will find this line in the new opened window: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash Change it to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor Save and close the window and type this in the terminal: sudo update-grub This will update your grub and while rebooting your PC, it will set an extra parameter on the grub menu during boot. This problem might have occur on due to the upgrade on kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991539 Title: brightness control not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/991539/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 847134] Re: Correct cpu scaling module not being loaded.
Lee Donaghy, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested and remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the text: needs-upstream-testing If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 738657] Re: 14e4:4357 Broadcom BCM43225 no longer works
Marked as invalid as requested in comment #54 because *I* can live with the workaround and at some point I will update to Quantal. However the consequence of such an attitude is that I am inclined to recommend Windows or OSX instead of Ubuntu to my clients in the future, on the basis that an upgrading cycle at higher frequency than every LTS puts unnecessary strain on most businesses and dealing with such bugs is also not something that business customers want to do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/738657 Title: 14e4:4357 Broadcom BCM43225 no longer works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/738657/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 800414] Re: Ubuntu has huge battery consumption
Tommy_CZ, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? [Bug 910379] Re: Gparted does not start and continues to scan devices
I am currently running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Precise, kernel 3.2.0-29-generic, Gparted version: 0.11.0-2, if I have legacy floppy enabled in my bios I still have the problem of Gparted scanning devices forever. [Bug 974480] Re: Remove Notification area whitelist in 12.10
I also agree with the previous two posts. If we have to stop using the system tray icon, what does Canonical suggest we should use? I can only think of splitting the application into two parts. A service and a UI with the UI managing the service. This might be big changes and add up on the cost to the company. It also makes supporting multiple OS much more complicated than it needs to be. In my opinion it we'll need to do a redesign and do a complete rewrite of the application to do a good job of it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974480 Title: Remove Notification area whitelist in 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/974480/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
