[Bug 1072373] Re: package mysql-server-5.5 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1072278] [NEW] lsusb hangs forever
Public bug reported: This is a spinoff of Bug 570049, as suggesgted by Dave Gilbert there. I've been experiencing the same issue on my Ubuntu 11.04 or 12.04 installations. Usb devices suddenly stops working after I plug/unplug some of them. I have a USB-Serial converte and an external SD-card reader and both seem to trigger the problem Only workaround is to reboot the system (which is not a solution, obviously). As it looks like from dmesg, the crash of khubd is at the root of the problem, and being a kernel thread can't be restarted other than rebooting. It looks like a common problem, across different distributions. Both the symptom (lsusb hanging) and what looks like the underlying cause are always the same: a crash of khubd kernel thread is always there, with a similar stack trace in every case, triggered by the same pattern: usb_stor_disconnect - release_everything - kthread_stop - ... Also attaching a collection of logs from my system. [Bug 1072282] [NEW] A lot of problem after upgrade to 12.10
Public bug reported: Hi to all. Since the upgrade to 12.10 I have a lot of problem on my desktop. At boot time, I often get the message that one partition of the main hd it not ready. The system runs from two partition on the same SATA disk. /dev/sdc1 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro) /dev/sdc2 on /disk2 type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro) It stops on /disk2, but when I press M to manually recover, the partition is already mounted and when e2fsck don't find any problems Then almost every day it starts to get errors from the disk and the disk are automatically remounted read-only (obviusly at the moment I don't have a log of these errors since the log files can't be written... but I will add them to the report the next time). After the reboot all the partition must be checked since the journaling file is corrupted A couple of times I got problem with the ethernet interface (a forcedeth) that I can solve only rebooting. Can someone tell me if this a real bug in the new kernel (with the kernels shipped with 12.04 I don't have this kind of problem)? Or just my hardware is damaged (it may be possible, but it sounds strange to me that the problem began after the upgrade). I seems that chroot.list and binary.list were deprecated, and we should use list.chroot and list.binary instead. http://live.debian.net/manual/html/live-manual.en.html#371 But we don't need to have a separate content for chroot/binary to add PPA, so I unified those in the attached branch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072115 Title: build with the --ppa, apt-line duplicated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-defaults-builder/+bug/1072115/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1070175] Re: Shutter shows black screen with overlay. Dash icons distorted when dragging.
I've made a backup of my data and formatted and reinstalled 12.10. After a fresh reinstall the problem seems to be solved. But after going into the software updater and updating all software the issue is back again. I've narrowed it down to being one of the Compiz updates that's causing the issue. Currently I've updated everything except: compiz, compiz-core, compiz- gnome, compiz-plugins-default, libcompizconfig0, libdecoration0 and nux- tools All of these seemed to have something to do with graphics so leaving them out solves the issue. Any hope that there might be an update to the culprit in this list that's causing this issue? I confirm that Nick Andrick's solution works for me. [Bug 1064962] Re: Global menubar items do not work when opening a document directly from nautilus with no LibreOffice instance running
Pressing ALT does not show menu items: When this new version builds successfully, will it also fix the non- appearance of menu items when ALT is pressed? I raised this in #52, but I could not tell if the reference to another bug in #53 was in answer to my question. [Bug 1072300] [NEW] kdbg incompatible with current gdb (7.5)
Public bug reported: On my up-to-date Quantal, kdbg is basically defunct: Opening any executable, e.g. kdbg /bin/bash just gives an error message GDB: Reading symbols from /bin/bash...(no debugging symbols found)...done. While the message itself may seem benign, it also appears when trying to debug my own executables that do contain debug symbols (gcc -g). And in any case, kdgb never actually loads the executable, so running and debugging the executable is not possible. According to the kdbg SourceForge page, this is a known incompatibility between kdbg 2.5.1 and gdb 7.5, and has been fixed upstream in kdbg 2.5.2. [Bug 1071341] Re: bluetooth usb 0489:e048 Foxconn / Hon Hai fail to scan
Tried exactly the version requested (v3.7-rc2-raring). It resulted unity failing to load properly (expected, because i was using fglrx driver which perhpas compile against my previous kernel). Nevertheless, new kernel doesn't work. Without unity, I can still do 'hcitool scan' as root. No device is found by it. In order to try if 'hcitool scan' in general work with the new kernel, I put on a secondary external USB bluetooth adaptor, indending to try scan again with that adaptor. But it resulted bluetoothd segment fault right after USB device plugged in. I rebooted to the old kernel and did 'hcitool -i hci1 scan', whcih uses the external bluetooth adaptor, and I do find device, meaning the device in test is not to be suspected. Would you be so kind to provide a workaround? I mentioned in previous post a commandline workaround which force use of external USB adaptor, but in reality it works very unstable. I guess a stable workaround would require preventing the kernel discovering the first internal bluetooth adaptor. P. S. If you have kernel source, have you poke in to see if the DEVICE id in question was referred to there? ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071341 Title: bluetooth usb 0489:e048 Foxconn / Hon Hai fail to scan To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1071341/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 614419] Re: [needs-packaging] Bullet Physics Library
Regarding to http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=bulletsearchon=namessuite=allsection=all the bullet library is available on Ubuntu12.10 Quantal. You can find it in software-center with the search term libbullet. Closing this here as fix released. If there is from anyone the wish to get bullet backportet to a previous Ubuntu version, please get involved following this guide(and open a separate backporting request): https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports greetings melchiaros --- P.S: Parts of the source of bullet are included in the 3D modeller blender, which is able to do physics simulations. - 3D modelling requires in first stage no programming abilities, but is time consuming in other ways. Books and video tutorials are availabe on commercial channels(and free). ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: allsey87 (allsey87) = (unassigned) ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614419 Title: [needs-packaging] Bullet Physics Library To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/614419/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1069551] Re: shutdown command does not power off the machine
Ok, so I uninstalled nvidia-current and virtual box and installed the mainline. Version: unseen@shodan-mobile:~$ uname -r 3.7.0-030700rc1-generic With the mainline shutdown seemed to work ok. I then uninstalled the mainline and reinstalled the ubuntu default kernel (without nvidia-current): Current Version: unseen@shodan-mobile:~$ uname -r 3.5.0-17-generic With this, the shutdown worked as well. I then reinstalled the nvidia-current driver, and shutdown was immidiatly broken again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069551 Title: shutdown command does not power off the machine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1069551/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
