[Bug 1109029] Re: Depend on linux-initramfs-tools
I disagree. Dracut builds fine from source and builds initrds which are usable. As dracut offers additional features compared to initramfs-tools, it is required in certain use cases. As dracut can be installed in parallel to initramfs-tools without interfering with its functionality, this issue should be solved even if dracut is not the official way for creating initrds in Ubuntu right now. If this issue is not solved, dracut cannot be installed. Thus either this issue has to be resolved or the package dracut needs to be dropped from Ubuntu. Either way, the importance of this bug is certainly not wishlist. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1109029 Title: Depend on linux-initramfs-tools To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/console-setup/+bug/1109029/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1113703] Re: Trying to connect using a GSM modem without SIM card is not reported to user
Japp, that is what I was about to propose for the case above. Is the error saved to that just an API extension is needed? I think for MM 0.6.x or for some other modem models, the modem is initialized fine, but it fails during connecting. Those cases are probably easier to fix, since there is a call to MM when the user connects that could contain the right error return code to display to the user. We probably don't want to spam the user at every init if the modem has no SIM and the user doesn't want to insert any (integrated modem but not currently in use). ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: networkmanagement (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1113703 Title: Trying to connect using a GSM modem without SIM card is not reported to user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/modemmanager/+bug/1113703/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1114173] [NEW] Sync handbrake 0.9.8+dfsg1-2 (universe) from Debian experimental (main)
Public bug reported: Please sync handbrake 0.9.8+dfsg1-2 (universe) from Debian experimental (main) Handbrake is already in the bpo for Quantal. It would make sense to have the latest also in Raring. This would also close a long standing request for packaging [bug 105458]. All changelog entries: handbrake (0.9.8+dfsg1-2) experimental; urgency=low [ Dmitry Smirnov ] * adding handbrake-dbg package * adding man pages * libdvdread4 (= 4.2.0+20120521-3) to Recommends: * removing ccache (obsolete) from Build-depends [ Fabian Greffrath ] * Versioned recommends are moot, use versioned Breaks instead. [ Reinhard Tartler ] * Fix version numbering. The git snapshot id really needs to be part of the upstream version. [Bug 399902] Re: xinput and synclient forget user settings on resume
12.04, I think I have a related problem but with a USB mouse. If you have a script like 20_custom-ehci_hcd in any of the sleep.d dirs, this may be the culprit here, since it unbinds hcd drivers upon sleep. xinput settings are lost on resume, and a 000-script in sleep.d fails because the device is not seen yet. To summarize: Before suspend, 'xinput list' shows my USB mouse and keyboard devices. On resume, while executing sleep.d scripts, the USB devices is missing from 'xinput list', even after 20_custom-ehci_hcd script has re-bound them. After resume has completed, 'xinput list' shows the USB devices. So, X does not rediscover the rebound devices until after the sleep.d scripts have run. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399902 Title: xinput and synclient forget user settings on resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/399902/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1087519] Re: Serial port ttyS4 doesn't work in 12.04
Roger, GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEAFAULT attaches its options to default GRUB menu item only. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX does it for each item (recovery modes too). Since you can edit GRUB item line at while boot time, it is up to you which one to choose. But there is no reason to change any of those lines if you did not succeed by editing grub start lines. Re: GRUB_SERIAL_COMMAND the GNU Grub Manual says it is to conf serial line, while booting box via it. Please confirm or not that pci=nocrs is just temporary in the active (by pressing shift, then escape) grub screen, and will disappear on the next boot. Everything you enter to GRUB command WHILE BOOTING your box (i.e. upon pressing e while Grub menu is seen) is TEMPORARY and active for that particular boot only. Therefore you can test new options being added to kernel in a safe way. What you add to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX... and issue update-grub afterwards is active for all next system launches. == I experienced my problems upon upgrading to Ubu 12.04 LTS from 8.04 and changing my mobo to AMD990FX-based (Asus Sabertooth). My modem is ZOOM PCI 2920 (not sure about the number). First success came upon adding pci=routeirq option. Then I upgraded BIOS to version 1604 and modem got not accessible again (frankly speaking it was accessible all that time, but its replies went to nowhere due to wrong IRQ assignment). Look at your /var/log/dmesg and grep ttyS there. Focus on IRQ number assigned by kernel. Check in /proc/interrupts if that number is used by bus you have put your modem into, and what device driver cares about that IRQ. You should find 8250 or serial as driver names for your modem if it operates right ( not your case alas!). So if there is IRQ number assigned at boot time ( as checked in dmesg log), and there is not right driver assigned to that IRQ at run time ( as seen in /proc/interrupts) you should focus on investigating events happened in between. If nothing helps you may try kernel option irqpoll. The option will make CPU to care about the interrupts. In general the option will slow machine, but this may not be your case if you are not running several GigaEthernets links. As a valuable experience you may connect the modem to phone line and call the modem through another phone. I wonder if you would see kernel complains about nobody cares on your terminal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1087519 Title: Serial port ttyS4 doesn't work in 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1087519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 916677] Re: unstable boot on Asrock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard probably related to the onboard Marvel SE9120 SATA controller
This issue affects my ASRock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard too, with current latest release bios v2.00. Windows is fine, using the Win7 SP1 64bit install CD. But Linux is problematic to say the least. I have tried: Kubuntu 12.04.1 amd64 DVD and Alternate Xubuntu 12.10 amd64 Desktop LinuxMint 14.1 Cinnamon DVD 64bit and even: System Rescue CD x86 3.3.0 - gentoo based - does this mean it's an issue in common with other distros? ...all with very limited success. For me I get about 1 successful boot out of every 10 attempts. I just managed to get kubuntu installed, and it does seem to work OK if it boots up, but I haven't tested it for a long. I suggest the name of this thread is misleading, since I seem to have the same boot problems whether I disable the Marvell chip in the UEFI BIOS or not. However I can confirm that turning off the Onboard IDE 1394 controller has changed the boot up freezes for the better - since I made the change it has booted straight up into kubuntu 4 times in a row now... Unfortunately that is not an adequate workaround for me since I have a PATA DVD drive, and a PATA HDD for backups, and all the SATA ports are filled with SATA HDDs. For me, to not use the Onboard IDE would remove the whole reason for buying this mobo! It would be nice to know if/when the Linux drivers for the IDE chipset on this mobo are fixed - it would seem odd for this to be the only mobo that used the hardware with the offending drivers... Anyway, thanks for posting your workaround - at least I know it's not just me going mad now -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/916677 Title: unstable boot on Asrock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard probably related to the onboard Marvel SE9120 SATA controller To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/916677/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1114248] [NEW] python-poppler-qt4 should be rebuilt when python-sip is upgraded
Public bug reported: The python-poppler-qt4 package needs to be rebuilt whenever python-sip is updated, or possibly whenever the version of sip-api implemented by python-sip is updated. The same issue appears to have re-arisen with the latest python-poppler-qt4 package: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/frescobaldi/+bug/1103746 It's clear that these issues will continue to arise so long as the relationship between python-poppler-qt4 and python-sip is not addressed in the build/packaging process. [Bug 1114259] [NEW] Opening files on an MTP device doesn't work
Public bug reported: kio-mtp is meant to support KDE to copy to and from MTP devices. After installing kio-mtp my smartphones files appear in Dolphin, yet the integration behaves eratically: * Opening files e.g. pictures in Gwenview will have progress bar spinning for a while doing nothing. If I try to copy a file manually afterwards using Dolphin a pop-up box appears saying The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly * Trying to copy single files or a collection of files to or from the device works I think the files should be transfered to temporary storage, manipulated there and after the file is unlocked, uploaded back to the device.
