[Bug 1090221] Re: qiv crashed with SIGABRT in gdk_event_dispatch()
@ Edward One of the qiv developers has answered to the e-mail notification. Could you please answer his furhter question directly per mail. I want to get out as a communication bridge(not really needed one). He wrote: Hi. I'm one of the QIV developers. Unfortunately I could not reproduce it here, but my photo archive is only a tenth of his size. So if there is way for me to reproduce the issue it would be much easier for me to help. There are some issues in the report, which could perhaps be clarified. Was qiv already up and showing a picture? Or did he fire up qiv and went out while it was scanning the mentioned 6 pictures. A SIGABRT could also be an indication for memory problems. Is a dmesg output available, to check if qiv was not taken out by the kernels OOM-killer? Also gdk_event_dispatch() is never directly called from qiv. It is part of the gdk_main_loop(), which makes it IMHO not so likely that qiv crash there. [Bug 1025555] Re: Ubuntu32bits is incompatible with recent (UEFI) computers
A main and serious problem is that there are pc's/notebooks with recent CPUs which are 32 bit which cannot be run in legacy mode, so they only support EFI. An example of that is the ACER W510 mentioned before. I cannot believe that is the only one and more will likely appear in the (near) future. So I think it would make most sense to make sure the 32bit iso does support EFI properly just like the 64 bit one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102 Title: Ubuntu32bits is incompatible with recent (UEFI) computers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/102/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Just wonder, though, whether rather setting spec-gen.power_down_unused = 1 works. When it's set, the generic parser applies the own power filter, and it doesn't have the EAPD check either (plus it does more aggressive power-down of unused widgets). [Bug 1027949] Re: Improve workspace functionality under Unity
The Mountain Lion, Elementary Pantheon, and Cinnamon currently provide the most comfortable ways to work with workspace management. Main goals are easy reorganizing of the workspaces you currently have like opening of the app on the desired workspace, easily rearranging of apps between the workspaces, rearrangement of workspaces themselves, easy way to add/remove more workspaces. Nice feature of Mountain Lion is that you can make the full-screen app behave as separate workspace and keep the ability to switch from it to another workspace back and forth. I believe, that's almost everything which is really required from workspace functionality. In other words you never know how much workspaces you really need, despite the point people might have habits for example of placing messengers to one workspace, another keeping for browsing, another one for development, some for writing documentation and so on - that's not working for the end user. I'd suggest copying the behavior of the workspace management from the resources mentioned in the beginning of my comment, as it seems to be really user-friendly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027949 Title: Improve workspace functionality under Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1027949/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately
Sure thing that you don't have the time to deal with every minor issue instantly. But isn't setting this bug to Won't fix telling other people that they shouldn't have any hope that it ever will get fixed a little bit to much? (I'm not too familiar with the guidelines how to bug statuses) It sounds like bad/stupid/unworthy idea that never will be considered. Wouldn't be Opinion more appropriate? Just my 2 cents worth. [Bug 1125136] [NEW] Read errors and kernel panic - Astrotek / genesys USB3 internal card reader
Public bug reported: I have an Astrotek USB 3.0 internal card reader in my new computer, plugged into the USB3 header on the mainboard. The reader is apparently controlled by the Genesys gl3220 chip. It has two LEDs on the front: one red to indicate power, the other green to indicate card access/read/write. It also has a USB3 port on the front, which seems to work fine with USB sticks. I have a 16GB SD card from my camera. When I put it in the SD slot, I would expect the card to be detected with the option given to open it in Nautilus etc. Instead, the green light flashes on and off repeatedly. dmesg reports a series of messages related to xHCI followed by Unhandled error code. I will attach an excerpt from dmesg from this incident, which was reliably repeatable. I have tried some different BIOS settings for the USB system: - Firstly I changed xHCI from Smart Auto to Enabled, logged in, then tested again with an old 256MB SD card. This was mounted automatically but when I tried to create a folder on the card I received a dialogue box reporting an input/output error. Dmesg reported similar xHCI errors as when I tried the 16GB card. I began to file a bug report, and part way through was dumped to a text console with a kernel panic message (which appeared to stem from usb_storage). As I have no other USB devices plugged in I presume this is again from the card reader. - Secondly I toggled the ASUS Bios EHCI handoff, which I think was disabled by default and I set it to enabled. With this set I got a kernel panic shortly after logging in, but without inserting a card in the card reader at all. I have screenshots of these kernel panics if they are of use. I am writing this bug report having rebooted the computer, reset the USB BIOS settings and restarted and the card reader's red power light is not on at all, hence the ubuntu-bug-generated output may not show the card reader. - Oliver ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: linux-image-generic 3.5.0.23.29 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-23.35-generic 3.5.7.2 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-23-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu10 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: oliver 1942 F pulseaudio CRDA: Error: command ['iw', 'reg', 'get'] failed with exit code 1: nl80211 not found. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1125052/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
