[Bug 1037055] Re: winbind does not refresh kerberos tickets

2013-03-06 Thread Robie Basak
@styro

Thanks for testing my package and sorry I haven't taken this further
yet. I need to prepare an SRU. But this week is UDS, Linaro Connect and
Raring Feature Freeze so I'm a bit tied up. I appreciate the reminder
and please do poke me again if I haven't done anything by next week.

[Bug 994779] Re: changing the IP address of the maas server requires a reinstall

2013-03-06 Thread David Fischer
I do no if this is the right answer to your question but I faced the
same kind of problem : The MaaS web user interface became unrecheable
after changing the IP address of my controller.

The solution was to reconfigure a lot of MaaS related packages :

dpkg --get-selections | grep maas

Here is the output :

maas install
maas-cliinstall
maas-cluster-controllerinstall
maas-common install
maas-region-controller install
python-django-maas  install
python-maas-clientinstall
python-maas-provisioningserver install

I reconfigured the packages :

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas-region-controller
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas-cluster-controller
$ sudo ...
$ sudo reboot

... All works fine now !

Hope it helps.

@psivaa,

I can't reproduce this any more. Are you saying that happened to you in
the last 15 hours (since my last commit to the utah server testsuite),
or that that is what happened to you at comment #8?

If you havent re-run since comment #8, can you please do so? The tests
all pass for me here now.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

'Drag and Drop' and 'Copy and Pase' doesn't work when I install Ubuntu
in a VMware virtual machine between guest and host.

Here's what I tried so far:
-set suid flag for vmware-user-suid-wrapper (see bug report #1149811)
-made sure /tmp/VMwareDnD exists
-mounted vmbock
-installed libgtkmm-3.0 and libgtkmm-2.4 as suggested here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installing_Arch_Linux_in_VMware#COPY_AND_PASTE

I've attached the current open-vm-tools init script I'm using right now.
If I start the script and run vmware-user-suid-wrapper I don't see any
error messages but 'Drag and Drop' still doesn't work

[Bug 1144873] Re: lxc-execute: Failed to find an lxc-init Error during lxc smoke tests

2013-03-06 Thread Parameswaran Sivatharman
Yes at present the tests in amd64 are hanging. I ran it a couple of
times and every time the tests with amd64 installations hang
indefinitely (until I forcefully abort the tests). The test-lucid was
still running after more than 3 hours.

The tests in with i386 installations seem to pass after the latest
fixes (revno 87)

twice as long as it takes to complete on i386, then long in as user utah
into the kvm vm and show the results of each of:

[Bug 1148898] [NEW] HP Pavilion g7 - brightness keys are erratic

2013-03-06 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

The brightness keys work with stock 12.04.2, however, they are erratic.
For example, from full bright, I could hit the key several times and the
screen will do nothing and then suddenly dim to almost the lower limit,
while the indicator shows it slowly decreasing in brightness.

Same for increasing brightness. There is no set pattern, sometimes
nothing happens at all when using one key, until I hit the other to
reverse what I just tried to do.

The keys DO work, they just work erratically.

[Bug 1107150] Re: B75 Chipset I/O Problems

2013-03-06 Thread Mark Vels
@Zaxx, that's great news. Glad that I could be of help.

@Jalisbury: I need the VM currently too badly for a project to do this
testing (and not enough disk space to clone the VM). I expect to deliver
really soon, I will check an upstream kernel then to see if it is
already fixed and try to gather little more info from strace or friends
to try to figure out what it is doing.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-03-06 Thread badbod
same here on all my Ubuntu 12.10 machines.
for now removed gvfs-fuse and installed cifs-utils, created entry in /etc/fstab
like

   //192.168.30.1/filestore   /media/shares/filestore   cifs
username=someuser,password=somepassword,_netdev   0 0

and works perfectly. Thanks Kanehekill for that one.

I dumped Fedora off my new laptop due to this bug, my laptop is for
office use and I only use Fedora for the office machines but I use
Ubuntu at home (warm and friendly at home :-) So was much to my
surprise to see the same bug in Ubuntu 12.10

As as been said many times already, this is a biggie for almost anyone.
I couldn't even copy a small 100Mb folder containing 40 pictures from my
file-server (Ubuntu 12.04 which works fine). Really do hope this get
sorted out soon, I hate it when I recommend things to people and they
then have problems with it. At least I can say don't use 12.10, get
12.04 for now

[Bug 1146425] Re: Request to pull in an upstream bug fix for GPU Turbo for Intel Chipsets

Don't think there is some work happening to backport this for upstream.
But we already have a backported patch for precise kernel. Patch is
attached for your reference. This patch was created and tested on Ubuntu

[Bug 827030] Re: Rygel does not autostart

2013-03-06 Thread Jens Georg
There are two problems you describe in the initial report:

a) Enabling in rygel and thus making it autostart through the
preferences UI does not actually enable it.

This was fixed in rygel 0.15.0 and so is included in current
quantal/raring packages.

b) IF the autostart file was in /etc/xdg/autostart, it would run for
every user on login, maybe unnoticed, and share things. I'm not sure
that this is a sensible thing to do.

[Bug 124440] Re: Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed

2013-03-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Last I checked, mouse scrolling came from discrete up/down button events
(mouse buttons 4 and 5). So the configuration has to happen in the
code that receives the button 4/5 events and translates them into actual
scrolling. That is typically the toolkit so I have added another GTK
task. However that won't resolve it for other toolkits like in Mozilla
apps. They would have to be fixed separately :(

A fix-all solution would be to abstract scrolling at a lower level so
that X(input) just gave you scroll up/down by some amount. Only with a
universal solution implemented in X could you configure scroll speed for
all apps in one place. Does such a thing exist yet?...

  also in package grass-core 6.4.2~upstream2-3~precise3

AFAICT you had installed 6.4.2 from either the UbuntuGIS or GRASS ppa, and are
now downgrading the qgis version (which depends on grass), and so reverting to
the official grass packages from 12.04.

in the DebianGIS packaging git for grass Frankie added a Replaces: +
Breaks: to avoid these problems, but perhaps the UbuntuGIS packages were
cut in the short window before that change went in? see #675514 in the
debian bug tracker.  http://bugs.debian.org/675514

the workaround is to uninstall all grass packages and start from
scratch.

Run: `dpkg -l | grep grass` to see what's installed, then uninstall
them.

then reinstall the version you need.

since this isn't specifically a bug in the grass package, rather an end-
user downgrading from 3rd party packages, there's not too much we can do
about it but suggest to close the bug report.

regards,
Hamish

[Bug 1148823] Re: /home/user/.gvfs unreadable

2013-03-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
thank you for the bug report, what's the output of ls -l ~/.gvfs?
That's probably a leftover of an old version, the gvfs mounts are under
/run/user/user/gvfs nowadays

[Bug 994779] Re: changing the IP address of the maas server requires a reinstall

2013-03-06 Thread David Fischer
I do no if this is the right answer to your question but I faced the
same kind of problem : The MaaS web user interface became unrecheable
after changing the IP address of my controller.

The solution was to reconfigure a lot of MaaS related packages :

dpkg --get-selections | grep maas

Here is the output :

maas install
maas-cliinstall
maas-cluster-controllerinstall
maas-common install
maas-region-controller install
python-django-maas  install
python-maas-clientinstall
python-maas-provisioningserver install

I reconfigured the packages :

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas-region-controller
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas-cluster-controller
$ sudo ...
$ sudo reboot

... All works fine now !

Hope it helps.

[Bug 1148823] Re: /home/user/.gvfs unreadable

2013-03-06 Thread dino99
I'm very confused now:

after having installed the latest 3.8.0.11 kernel, and rebooted, that
.gvfs file is now gone. So you seems right about a leftover pushed by
the previous 3.8.0.10 kernel (i might say that file had not catched my
attention before, probably due to its inexistance).

Have tried to find something wrong logged, but nothing i can see. But
/run/user/user/gvfs/ folder is empty: is it normal ? does its working
like a tmp folder ?

So you probably can set that report as invalid.

[Bug 1029746] Re: Creating a new hidden folder causes the displayed name to revert to Untitled Folder

2013-03-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1149056] [NEW] No linux-backports-modules-cw-precise for 3.5 kernel

2013-03-06 Thread Pilot6
Public bug reported:

There are no backports modules for precise in repositories.
In quantal there is cw-3.6, where alx and other drivers are built for current
kernel.
In precise people have to make these drivers from source and do it every time
they update kernel.

Please add something like
linux-backports-modules-cw-3.6-precise-lts-quantal-generic to the repos.

[Bug 1146868] Re: cannot mount /sys/firmware/efi/efivars on boot

2013-03-06 Thread syscon-hh
The same happens with the kernel image updated to

 * 3.8.0-11_3.8.0-11-20

@Joseph: Your link to the images shows no installable kernel image(s) -
tested on march 6th 2013 - so requested test couldn't performed now.

Once more: Booting with the recovery, you will reach the recovery
console.

After selecting resume you will be prompted to hit S to skip
missing directory and you will reach the tty1 console for log in.

[Bug 1123403] Re: Installer is blocked by UEFI Secure Boot

2013-03-06 Thread Aurélien COUDERC
Hi, I have the same problem with my Asus R500V (K55VD).

The 20130305 daily live for raring doesn’t boot either.

There was no need to swich to legacy bios for me, just switching secure
boot on and off makes the live fail or boot.
