[Bug 1169404] Re: munin_stats fails due to being run as nobody

2013-04-16 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

On a fresh install of munin on both Precise and Raring, /etc/munin
/plugin-conf.d/munin-node already contains user munin under
[munin_stats]. Here are the equivalent URLs from VCS in bzr:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/precise/munin/precise/view/head:/debian/plugins.conf
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/raring/munin/raring/view/head:/debian/plugins.conf

Please could you clarify what you are saying should be changed, exactly?
On a fresh installation, exactly what is wrong? Or is this an upgrade
issue, or an issue specific to your system?

Once you have clarified, please change the bug status back to New.

Re: [Bug 1168526] Re: race condition causing lxc to not detect container init process exit

2013-04-16 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Pavel Bennett (launch...@pavelbennett.com):
Btw, that queueing mode would simply mean not calling epoll_wait until
the pid is available. This shouldn't require managing a queue ourselves.
Can you think of anything that this would break?

No - I had wanted to do this originally, but there was some reason it
seemed not doable - I don't remember why. Do you have a patch try it?

[Bug 1100843] Re: Live Migration Causes Performance Issues

2013-04-16 Thread Paolo Bonzini
The results of comment 23 suggest that the issue is not 100%
reproducible. Can you please run the benchmark 3-4 times
(presave/postrestore) and showall 4 results? One benchmark only, e.g.
simple read will do.

Also please try putting a big file on disk (something like dd
if=/dev/zero of=bigfile count=64K bs=64K) and then doing cat bigfile
/dev/null after restoring. Please check if that makes performance more
consistent.

Can you clarify what's not 100% reproducible? The only time that it is

[Bug 1136110] Re: USB Audio Codec choppy playback

2013-04-16 Thread Jan
Hello,

I have noticed a problem with f292e7f9fb0e4bec68bbd83443407d6bb7922d36.
I've been running it on production machine for a while, and I've noticed that
DAC stops working from time to time. Eg. it works fine for 8 hours and than all
of the sudden sound dies. I have to plug out USB and plug it back in to fix the
problem.

[Bug 489397] Re: Brightness adjustment goes crazy on Dell Inspiron 1370

2013-04-16 Thread floren
Hello,

Carsten's workaround (acpi_backlight=vendor in grub.conf) works fine in
my laptop only if I use kubuntu-desktop with KDM. With lightdm and
kubuntu-desktop not works, and with gdm or lightdm with unity not works
too.

I have A03 bios version and I use default video drivers (not nvidia
proprietary drivers).

Regards,

Floren.

[Bug 1169437] [NEW] network-manager dnsmasq openvpn DNS issue

2013-04-16 Thread Oscar Tiderman
Public bug reported:

NetworkManager/dnsmasq does not set the DNS servers given by openvpn
server when I connect. I can see in my syslog that I do receive the name
servers correctly along with all the routes:

Apr 16 08:14:09 homer NetworkManager[4014]: info Internal DNS: 192.168.11.90
Apr 16 08:14:09 homer NetworkManager[4014]: info Internal DNS:
192.168.11.190

However they are not used:
oscar@homer:~$ nmcli -f IP4 dev list | grep DNS
IP4.DNS[1]: 192.168.0.1
oscar@homer:~$

(That is my default DNS/Gateway and it should still be queried for all
DNS queries outside of VPN network)

If I comment out dns=dnsmasq in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
and oc restart NetworkManager all DNS start to work properly again, VPN
DNS's are used for those resources on the VPN network and others through
my default DNS. Let me know if I kan provide further info about this
issue.

[Bug 779921] Re: Unity makes usage of dual monitors impossible

I'm not sure if this is the place to report this, but this bug seems relevant
to the problem I'm experiencing.
Using raring beta, laptop thinkpad t400s with intel video and external monitor.
Here are the steps to reproduce it:

1. I'm using the monitors in extended mode, no duplication.
2. I'm closing the lid of the laptop, thus the external becomes the main
monitor.
3. Starting a video in full screen.
4. Opening the lid.

The video driver freezes, with scratches and random colors on screen,
and keeps frozen even if I close again the lid, or disconnect the
external monitor. No effect. The graphical env needs a restart to fix
this. I definitely had no such problems with quantal.

Also, upon boot with dual monitor setup, after logging into the system,
the screen stays shared between the two monitors(using half of each
monitor) for a few seconds, and then gets ok on the both monitors. Not a
critical issue, but this was introduced in raring. I haven't seen such
issues in quantal too.

[Bug 1164093] Re: FFe: new upstream release 9.1.1

2013-04-16 Thread Timo Aaltonen
** Description changed:

The Ubuntu X team would like to push mesa 9.1.1 for raring. It has been
on a staging ppa for roughly two months now, and we've tested it on a
variety of hw. During this time we've identified a regression with the
Intel driver having a slow blur effect, causing issues with kwin and
Unity dash. This was why we didn't upload it to raring before it got
  fixed upstream.

For me personally, it also fixes a bug in the Intel driver where compiz
hangs after returning from another user session.

Upstream release notes for 9.1 and 9.1.1:

  9.1 New features

Note: some of the new features are only available with certain drivers.

[Bug 1167220] Re: NO Keyboard selection when on english

2013-04-16 Thread Maraschin
I did choose install ubuntu.
After I select language ENGLISH, I do not get any clear screen about selecting
a keyboard layout.
after while I did noticed that there is a very small keyboard icon on top of
the screen on the right side, there I could change the keyboard to something
else, but what I mean is that this is not intuitive and a lot of users may miss
it!

This is a really problem when you want to encrypt a disc, you may end up
entering keys that do not match you keyboard layout ...

Thanks!

The latest change in accountsservice makes it possible to set language
(and regional formats) when on NFS. It has nothing to do with whether
 lightdm remembers the last user.

Yes, one should think so. But it is like I told, which isn't a great
thing for me personally. But anyone who is dealing with real world users
knows that they are easily scared. :-)

If you need to edit /etc/pam.d/lightdm as you say, isn't that a bug? If
you agree, it would be great if you could file a new bug report about
 that particular problem.

Yes, sure, but I am just about to test that. I found it in an already
existing bug report anyways (which I forgot to bookmark unfortunately).

Cheerz!

[Bug 1169404] Re: munin_stats fails due to being run as nobody

2013-04-16 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

On a fresh install of munin on both Precise and Raring, /etc/munin
/plugin-conf.d/munin-node already contains user munin under
[munin_stats]. Here are the equivalent URLs from VCS in bzr:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/precise/munin/precise/view/head:/debian/plugins.conf
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/raring/munin/raring/view/head:/debian/plugins.conf

Please could you clarify what you are saying should be changed, exactly?
On a fresh installation, exactly what is wrong? Or is this an upgrade
issue, or an issue specific to your system?

Once you have clarified, please change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1168293] Re: No Certificate dialog frozen

2013-04-16 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
Actually, I realize that the dialog underneath the warning dialog (entitled
Wii-Fi Network Authentication Required) is still active;
I can check the Show password box, click on Connect again (no effect) or on
Cancel, which closes both dialogs alltogether.

(I attach a screenshot to make things clearer)

So this seem to ne not so much a freeze than a focus problem ?

I tried to change the window-manager (metacity instead of gnome-shell),
but the problem was still there.

** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2013-04-16 09:05:48.png

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1168293/+attachment/3645365/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-04-16%2009%3A05%3A48.png

** Summary changed:

- No Certificate dialog frozen
+ No Certificate dialog not responding

** Description changed:

- I'm using ubuntu 13.04 (raring ringtail) beta.
+ I'm using ubuntu 13.04 (raring ringtail) beta, with gnome-shell.
I try to connect to a secure wi-fi network (eduroam).
I enter my login and password, but no certificate -- I'm instructed by my
university to ignore the warning (I know this is bad, but...).
Said warning appears (dialog entitled No Certificate Authority certificate
chosen), but it is completely frozen.
Neither the Don't warn me again checkbox, or the button react to my clicks.
The window manager can not even close the dialog, I have to xkill it.

[Bug 1169454] [NEW] Dash loses focus when navigating via keyboard

2013-04-16 Thread Alan Pope ㋛
Public bug reported:

Sometimes focus is lost when navigating the dash via the keyboard.

Press super to open dash
Type up to search for Software Updater
Use arrow keys to navigate down into the dash results.

Sometimes the highlight disappears and its impossible to tell what's
highlighted. Also escape doesn't work to clear the search term or close
the dash leading me to believe the dash has lost focus entirely.

Here's a video showing it. Note at ~32 seconds I mistakenly say mouse
cursor when I mean highlight. Not had coffee yet.

[Bug 1169456] [NEW] Duplicate package

2013-04-16 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04 contains 2 packages with the same software:

- jplayer: Ubuntu-only package, contains an old version (1.2.0). It was also
available in 12.10.
- libjs-jquery-jplayer + jquery-jplayer-bluemonday + jquery-jplayer-pinkflag:
the Debian package (which I'm the maintainer of), contains a newer version
(2.1.0, to be updated this week due to a security fix). It has become available
in 13.04.

IMHO, jPlayer should be provided with the libjs-jquery-jplayer package
and the 'jplayer' package be reduced to a transitional package.

The transition plan would be like this:
- I will add to libjs-jquery-jplayer these fields: Replaces: jplayer (
2.1.0~) and Conflicts: jplayer ( 2.1.0~) and maintain them at least until
Ubuntu 12.10 runs ouf of support.
- You will add to jplayer this field: Depends: libjs-jquery-jplayer. This
package needs to be separately maintained because I will not be providing it in
Debian (it is not required and violates the archive policy).

Please tell me what you think

[Bug 1013626] Re: systemsettings crashed with ImportError in /usr/share/kde4/apps/language-selector/language-selector.py: No module named LanguageSelector.qt.QtLanguageSelector

2013-04-16 Thread mrw
Yes it works after installing the packages kde-l10n-de kde-l10n-zhcn and
then moving german and chinese to the right. But I still consider this
as a bug: It is not obvious to the user that he has to manually install
his langauges - and it used to work in earlier Ubutnu releases.

First of all: All languages should be presented in the list to the right, but
not all are.
Second: If the user choses a language, the necessary packages should be
installed.

Still open: How can I now configure Chinese input methods (Pinyin)?

All the things mentioned were fixed for 13.04 and this bug report is
about language-selector so whether the locale kcm is broken or not is
not of any concern to whether this here bug is being pursued or not. If
you feel that the *locale kcm* has issues in 13.04 please feel free to
report *new* bugs against the *kde-runtime* package.

[Bug 1169456] Re: Duplicate package

2013-04-16 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
** Description changed:

- Ubuntu 13.04 contains 2 packages with the same software:
+ Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 contain 2 packages with the same software:

- - jplayer: Ubuntu-only package, contains an old version (1.2.0). It was also
available in 12.10.
- - libjs-jquery-jplayer + jquery-jplayer-bluemonday + jquery-jplayer-pinkflag:
the Debian package (which I'm the maintainer of), contains a newer version
(2.1.0, to be updated this week due to a security fix). It has become available
in 13.04.

the Debian package (which I'm the maintainer of), contains a newer version
(2.1.0, to be updated this week due to a security fix). This package was first
available in 12.10.

IMHO, jPlayer should be provided with the libjs-jquery-jplayer package
and the 'jplayer' package be reduced to a transitional package.

The transition plan would be like this:
- - I will add to libjs-jquery-jplayer these fields: Replaces: jplayer (
2.1.0~) and Conflicts: jplayer ( 2.1.0~) and maintain them at least until
Ubuntu 12.10 runs ouf of support.
- - You will add to jplayer this field: Depends: libjs-jquery-jplayer. This
package needs to be separately maintained because I will not be providing it in
Debian (it is not required and violates the archive policy).

+ - You will add to jplayer this field: Depends: libjs-jquery-jplayer. This

[Bug 1169468] [NEW] GUI hangs often

2013-04-16 Thread Michael Murphy
Public bug reported:

I am using a Radeon HD 7950 with the latest fglrx beta (catalyst 13.3).
The problem, however, even happens with fglrx in Ubuntu repositories. It
seems most likely to occur when I am opening a lot of windows too
rapidly, although it is completely random. It is guaranteed that at some
point in time the GUI will freeze. However, I have noticed that it does
not freeze if not being used (I can safely go AFK for 12 hours and come
back to a responsive GUI). The only fix is to move to a different tty
session, sudo killall lightdm, then sudo lightdm and log back in.
