[Bug 1198882] Re: __toString() which stores $this reference triggers segfault
Thanks for identifying the fix! Could you please verify that this bug is fixed in Saucy? If not, we have to fix it there at the same time, so that users upgrading in the future don't get a regression. Next, see the Ubuntu packaging guide for instructions on how to turn this patch into something suitable for Ubuntu: http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/index.html. Specifically the Patches to Packages page should help you here. Alternatively, you can wait for a developer to get on to this. [Bug 1207384] Re: apache2 failure to start on boot when binding to IPv6 address
I don't think this should be fixed in apache'2 init script. It depends on '$network' and whatever is providing $network must ensure that the network is actually usable. Also, it makes much more sense to fix this in one place instead of hundreds of network daemons which are affected by the same issue. If apache2's upstart configuration is missing the equivalent of the dependency on $network, this should be fixed. But this would be a Ubuntu specific issue because upstart support is not included in the Debian package. OTOH, if apache2's upstart configuration is correct, reassign this report to whatever is doing the network configuration under Ubuntu. Because then the bug must be there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207384 Title: apache2 failure to start on boot when binding to IPv6 address To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/1207384/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1207930] [NEW] nova should provide a nova-compute-minimal (or similar)package
Public bug reported: Currently, most/all nova-compute-* packages are tied to a specific hypervisor, usually associated with libvirt. As a result, you cannot install a bare minim nova-compute service that does not pull in a ton of dependencies. If a user wishes to run nova-compute using one of the drivers that directly offloads compute tasks to an external resource (VMware, oVirt, etc), they'll install 'nova-compute' (and libvirt-bin, qemu-kvm, etc.) I propose it would make sense to include a package (nova-compute-minimal?) that depends on nova-common + python-nova and installs only the minimum, eg: an upstart job and an empty /etc/nova /nova-compute.conf. ** Affects: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207930 Title: nova should provide a nova-compute-minimal (or similar)package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nova/+bug/1207930/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1183125] Re: Haswell: Ensuring HDA codec pins refer to physical outputs
I believe we're experiencing basically the same problem with the upcoming System76 Haswell desktop products. The problem (for us) is that HDMI audio devices simply don't show up at all in the sound menu. We're able to fix this by cherry-picking these 3 commits from mainline: 9419ab6b72325e20789a61004cf68dc9e909a009 ALSA: hda - Add power state filtering c88d4e84e639df9a9640ecff71de2501a84d1f48 ALSA: hda - Yet another fix for broken HSW HDMI pin connections 17df3f55652f7ea8fb1197b5c32e227b3da9f215 ALSA: hda - Apply pin-enablement workaround to all Haswell HDMI codecs These 3 commits are already present in the Saucy tree, although it seems there is perhaps a regression currently in Saucy in that the HDMI device will only show up if connected at boot, wont show up if you plug in a different monitor after initially booting with a monitor that lacks HDMI audio. Anyway, for reference here are the mainline commits, which you can cleanly cherry pick into the current Raring tree: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=9419ab6b72325e20789a61004cf68dc9e909a009 https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=c88d4e84e639df9a9640ecff71de2501a84d1f48 https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=17df3f55652f7ea8fb1197b5c32e227b3da9f215 ** Also affects: system76 Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: system76 Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: system76 Assignee: (unassigned) = Jason Gerard DeRose (jderose) ** Changed in: system76 Importance: Undecided = Critical -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183125 Title: Haswell: Ensuring HDA codec pins refer to physical outputs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/intel/+bug/1183125/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1120245] Re: A program is still running: Unknown Not responding.
Yes I've done some experimental work...I'm running Windows Xp and Ubuntu on the machine but I guess this should not cause any problem. And yes I've tried to setup Ubuntu to run Windows applications from Ubuntu but failed several times. It doesn't matter if I close all applications or, not the msgbox is always there. So you see it's my own lack of knowledge that is causing the problem. I guess the easiest way, even if it doesn't solve the root cause, is to reinstall a new Ubuntu package. Yes I will backup important contents first. I think you can close this issue. Thanks for your great support and dedication! All the best! Per-Erik 2013/8/2 Alan Pater alan.pa...@gmail.com Try to identify which application is still running through the process of elimination. Have you installed any extra applications, or are you using the ones which came installed? Does it happen all the time, or only after running a certain application? Do you close all applications before shutting down, or leave them running and let the system shut them down? -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1120245 Title: A program is still running: Unknown Not responding. [Bug 1161985] Re: Error sending ATA command IDENTIFY DEVICE
Sry for the late repley - just found this! One simple workaround is to manually downgrade the udisks2 package: HOW TO: Download an older version of the package eg here: www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/core/quantal/main/base/udisks2 go to folder which includes the package an type: sudo dpkg -i package.deb Now check the Version again with: sudo apt-cache showpkg udisks2 It should show you the downloaded version number now + some dependences (like this) Provides: 2.1.0-2 - udisks2:i386 2.0.0-1 - udisks2:i386 Reverse Provides: udisks2:i386 2.1.0-2 Now you have to lock the version in order to not update it automatically while apt-get update is running either with synaptic or console: Synaptic: search for udisks2 - it should show you again the downloaded version, mark it, and select lock version under package console: sudo echo “package hold” | sudo dpkg –set-selections If all is done reboot, test it and run sudo apt-get update to check if it gets updated or not. [Bug 1153937] Re: HP Pavilion p6 - Card reader does not read SDHC cards

Thirdly, class 4 SDHC from SanDisk which has been measured 15MB/s. The last is U1 SDHC 8GB from SanDisk which has been measured about 15MB/s. [Bug 1085402] Re: PulseAudio overuses 'Boost' control of microphone input producing bad audio quality
I did a small test on two machines I have here, one ALC888 + front mic and one IDT92xx + internal mic. I tested recording with Capture at +30 dB and Mic Boost at 0 dB, then I tested recording with Capture at 0 dB and Mic Boost at +30 dB. For both machines, there was no significant difference in quality. So, this is very hardware dependent. We could flip it so that we raise Capture first and then Mic Boost, which would help here, so I'm seriously considering that - but the question is if this has negative effect on other hardware, maybe it's the other way around w r t to quality on other machines? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085402 Title: PulseAudio overuses 'Boost' control of microphone input producing bad audio quality To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1085402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
