[Bug 1245113] Re: libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql is missing in 13.10 amd64

2013-11-26 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql 2.0.3-6 has automatically been imported into
Ubuntu and is thus present in the current development release, so I'm
marking this bug as Fix Released.

If you need a fix for 13.10, please comment with a justification against
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#When, and I'll put it in my
backlog. Note that that SRU team would need to make a final decision.

[Bug 1255031] Re: package apache2 2.2.22-1ubuntu1.4 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado el script post-removal devolvió el código de salida de error 1

2013-11-26 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu.

Specifically, you're using Apache 2.2 with PHP 5.5. Ubuntu has never
shipped this combination, so an automated upgrade of PHP to 5.5 on 12.04
is not directly supported by Ubuntu itself. I believe that you probably
can run this combination on Ubuntu, but you will need to fix any local
configuration issues yourself.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing the bugs that we are actually able to work on.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to
your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1255171] [NEW] Init script is missing status verb

2013-11-26 Thread Carlos A. Carnero Delgado
Public bug reported:

While trying to use SaltStack (http://www.saltstack.com/community/) for
configuration management I found that the init script is missing the
status verb. While not terribly useful, it is something that Salt uses
to detect whether the service is running or not.

I have attached a patch to the init script that provides this simple
function. While I'm using 12.04 LTS, it could be useful into other
versions/releases as well, IMO.

[Bug 1153626] Re: Multiple Interfaces and IPs not detected in AWS VPC

2013-11-26 Thread Forest
Sure. The part that stood out to me was refreshes secondary IP
addresses during DHCP lease renewal. I haven't examined Amazon's code,
but that description reads like it solves the problem of automatically
configuring additional IP addresses without requiring additional network
interfaces.

[Bug 1255414] [NEW] one step public key creation from existing private key

2013-11-26 Thread Deepak Jadiya
Public bug reported:

Typically, one would have private key when creating resources in cloud.
At times if one's environment is cleaned up, the public key uploaded in cloud
could be lost,
leaving one with non-utilizable private key.
It would be nice if there is a one step public key upload from existing private
key cli/api support.
This way one would not have to keep inventories of private keys to work on
different cloud environment.

[Bug 1251570] Re: [Dell Inspiron 3137] WARNING message in klog (reported as HIGH failure in fwts)

2013-11-26 Thread Alex Hung
DMAR DMA Remapping Reporting is ACPI table defined in Intel®
Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O which says The system BIOS
is responsible for detecting the remapping hardware functions in the
platform and for locating the memory-mapped remapping hardware registers
in the host system address space.

It is clearly that this system reports the base address is zero which is
invalid. In fact, it claims the base address starts from 0 and it will
conflicts with other hardware.

It is my guess that BIOS set base address to zero as this is a celeron
cpu which does not support this advance. This is not a correct way to do
it. BIOS should not report DMAR in ACPI at all.

Fortunately, it is detected by kernel and DMAR is not used.

[Bug 1254976] Re: Samsung M262X USB Printer fails to print in Ubuntu 13.10

2013-11-26 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1254976/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1088146] Re: Asus n56vz battery state is wrong or battery not charging at all.

2013-11-26 Thread Gamabunta73
I am on a brand new Asus S550C Ultrabook with Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon (64 bit)
installed. Seem to be having an almost identical problem with the battery state
reading being inaccurate on and off. Also when the battery gets to below 7% or
so, fan goes full bore and battery light flashes orange... also doesn't seem to
be charging while this is happening. Have to turn off, remove/replace charger
and battery and seems to be ok again.
Pretty sure this isn't the hardware. Hope a fix arrives soon, I cannot abide by
Windows 8!

[Bug 702519] Re: Column headings in Evolution and Claws Mail have rounded corners

2013-11-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
If a bug report is easily reproducible, please don't close it merely
because it was reported on an old version. Thanks.

** Description changed:

  light-themes 0.1.8.4, Ubuntu Natty
+ light-themes 13.04+13.10.20131014-0ubuntu1, evolution 3.8.4-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu
13.10

The table column headings in Evolution and Claws Mail, both native GTK
applications, have rounded corners. This is ugly because it leaves
crevices between and around the headings. It's also inconsistent with
the column headings in Nautilus and Firefox.

2013-11-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
(Jörg Frings-Fürst, please don't close a bug report as no longer
supported if the bug is easily reproducible in a current version.
Thanks.)

** Description changed:

- I am running the current Lucid beta version (as of April 1st).
+ Ubuntu Lucid
+ evolution 3.8.4-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu 13.10
+
+ 1. Install Evolution.
+ 2. Receive some messages.
+
+ What should happen: The messages show up in the messaging menu.
+ What happens: They don't.
+
+ This is because evolution-indicator is not installed along with evolution.
+

After installing Lucid, I decided to remove Evolution. After a few
weeks I decided to reinstall Evolution, which I did. But if I get mail
I don't see an indication to that effect on the indicator applet. I was
assuming that installing Evolution will tie it with the applet, but that
does not appear to be the case.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1255022] [NEW] Wireless networking unavailable/does not work

[Bug 1255020] [NEW] Geolocation broken on Firefox

2013-11-26 Thread Mossroy
Public bug reported:

The geolocation feature does not work any more on Firefox (at least on
Ubuntu 12.04.3)

Try to open for example http://html5demos.com/geo , accept geolocation
when prompted by Firefox : it should quickly show your location on the
map, but it never does.

I'm using latest Firefox package from Ubuntu 12.04.3
(25.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1) on Ubuntu 12.04.3 (amd64) with latest
updates

I have this same behavior on 2 different computers : one with a Wifi
card, another one without.

If I download Firefox 25.0.1 from www.firefox.com and launch it, geolocation
works.
So I suspect the issue to be related to the ubuntu package

See also the discussion started on bugzilla :

[Bug 1255014] [NEW] [Lenovo V480] Unable to control the brightness from Max - Min

2013-11-26 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201204-10924 Lenovo V480

With the Brightness applet, the brightness level on this system cannot be
adjusted from Max (let's say, level 11) to Min (level 1).
The brightness level will goes down and up, which behaves like
11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-4-5

Steps:
1. Install 12.04.3 + update (3.8.0-33), boot to desktop
2. Adjust the screen brightness by the Brightness and Lock applet, clicking the
leftmost part of the scroll bar to change the brightness stepwise
3. Click and drag the slider to adjust the brightness

Expected result:
- Brightness could be adjusted smoothly.

Actual result:
1. Brightness cannot go down to the lowest level, it behaves like
11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-4-5
2. When you drag and move the slider, the backlight will flash between Max and
the indicated level.

Debugging information:
$ ls /sys/class/backlight
acpi_video0@ intel_backlight@

$ dmesg | grep 'ACPI: Video'
[7.104361] ACPI: Video Device [PEGP] (multi-head: no rom: yes post: no)
[7.107524] ACPI: Video Device [GFX0] (multi-head: yes rom: no post: no)

$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 3.8.0-33-generic (buildd@toyol) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #48~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 24 16:28:06 UTC 2013

Note: the hotkey is probably affected by bug 1248442, but it will cause
the same result when it's working.

[Bug 1254536] Re: headphones work, built-in speakers don't (after update) ubuntu version 13.10

2013-11-26 Thread Herve COMBAUX
Hi Raymond,

Tks for the info above.
However i need some clarification about your explanation as i am not an advance
Linux user.
1) I got that Realtek codec parser takes the headphone output as primary at
first which generates the issue.
2) It seems that there is a patch to fix this issue ( see kernel link) but I
should do to get it? Click on this link : sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c 22?
then what I should do?
3) what is the next step of the procedure? It s all alien language fome:(
4) As for docking station i dont have got any
5) By the way, just noticed that the sound icon disappeared from the screen +
when I opened the system settings to manage the sound settings I noticed that
my built-in speakers are not recognized and mentioned anymore + no possibility
to launch a sound test anymore + plus input sound test doesnt react at all
anymore, howerver if I plug a headset I can still get sound but cannot control
its volume anymore :(

[Bug 1253646] Re: autoremove removes libc6-amd64

2013-11-26 Thread Kai Mast
When I try to run spotify I get
spotify: error while loading shared libraries: libnss3.so.1d: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

The library exists in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/. So it really seem
like multiarch linking on my machine is broken somehow.

[Bug 1255024] [NEW] The program 'gnome-shell' received an X Window System error.

2013-11-26 Thread prathamesh
Public bug reported:

root@prathamesh-Vostro-3550:/home/prathamesh# gnome-shell

(gnome-shell:12174): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gnome-shell' received an X
Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
  (Details: serial 135 error_code 1 request_code 153 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 655831] Re: update-apt-xapian-index bogs down system

2013-11-26 Thread memartin
For me, the apt-xapian-index cronjob used to crash a complete Xen domU
(Raring minimal install w/ linux-vm, 512 MiB RAM, 1 vcpu, 1 GiB swap) on
a weekly basis until I disabled the cronjob. Took me a while to find out
why the domU crashed in such a timely manner.

I do not have this problem on other hosts running 12.04 Precise, but
this one I upgraded to quantal/raring and the problem appeared. I have
yet to try an upgrade to saucy with the cronjob reenabled.

Unfortunately this bug report doesn't contain any log files or steps for
reproducing the problem.

Try running software-center from a terminal and reproducing the
problem. When it recurs, copy the output from the terminal into the bug
report. Thanks.

Just had another look into my notes. The problem appeared for me after
upgrading from quantal to raring. I have also found bug 1152736 and bug
1185172 dealing with a potential kswapd regression in Kernel 3.8 and
might be related.

[Bug 1255020] Re: Geolocation broken on Firefox

2013-11-26 Thread Mossroy
** Description changed:

The geolocation feature does not work any more on Firefox (at least on
  Ubuntu 12.04.3)

Try to open for example http://html5demos.com/geo , accept geolocation
when prompted by Firefox : it should quickly show your location on the
  map, but it never does.

I'm using latest Firefox package from Ubuntu 12.04.3
- (25.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1) on Ubuntu 12.04.3 (amd64) with latest
- updates
+ (25.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 from standard ubuntu repos) on Ubuntu
+ 12.04.3 (amd64) with latest updates

I have this same behavior on 2 different computers : one with a Wifi
  card, another one without.

If I download Firefox 25.0.1 from www.firefox.com and launch it, geolocation
works.
- So I suspect the issue to be related to the ubuntu package
+ It also works with Chromium 30 (version 30.0.1599.114-0ubuntu0.12.04.3 from
standard ubuntu repos)
+ So I suspect the issue to be related to the ubuntu package of Firefox

See also the discussion started on bugzilla :
