[Bug 1249708] Re: Missing neutron-ovs-cleanup service

2013-12-11 Thread Jian Wen
I think this tool needs to be run on l3 nodes and dhcp nodes.
It should only be run when rebooting a node.
And it should finish the cleaning before l3 agent or dhcp agent starts.

In some environments, nova compute, l3 agent and dhcp agent are on the same
node [1].
We need to make sure that the tool finishes the cleaning before nova compute
starts.

It's kind of complicated. That's why I don't like the idea that using a
upstart/init job to do the cleaning.
Maybe it's better that l3 agent and dhcp agent replug the ports themselves
during starting.

Remove asserts for optional imports

Horizon's __init__.py has some code that explicitly allows it to
be imported by setup.py before Django is set up, by making import
failures just throw a warning instead of an exception. But that code
is defeated by a bunch of asserts that were added later, that just
make the error even more confusing.

I'm removing the asserts and replacing them with __all__.

[Bug 1249708] Re: Missing neutron-ovs-cleanup service

2013-12-11 Thread James Page
I agree its complicated; I discussed with upstream PTL and its only
needed for l3 and dhcp agents with the openvswitch plugin; the dhcp
agent is also used by other plugins so the dependency on cleanup
completing first needs to be soft (this can be done).

My current thing is to add this to the neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent
package, add conditional waits to the l3 and dhcp agent configurations
and a hard wait for the neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent.

We can also add the same soft wait to nova-compute if this is required -
that creates tap devices as well so I think Jian is correct in #4.

[Bug 1015819] Re: sb_sasl_generic_pkt_length: received illegal packet length when using ldapsearch and sasl with ssl or tls

2013-12-11 Thread Johnny Westerlund
This has to do with Active Directory not supporting nested security or
privacy layers.
To make it work you need to set sasl_secprops minssf=0,maxssf=0 in
/etc/openldap/ldap.conf

[Bug 1259939] [NEW] ssh -g has no effect if master socket already open

2013-12-11 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

From the man page:
 -g Allows remote hosts to connect to local forwarded ports.

When working with a control socket, this works fine if -g is included
with the initial connect attempt, for example:

$ cat ~/.ssh/config
Host *
ControlMaster   auto
ControlPath ~/.ssh/%r@%h:%p

$ ssh -gTfNL 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

$ lsof -n

ssh   182446user3u IPv4   76397177   0t0
TCP 192.168.0.9:51181-192.168.0.15:ssh (ESTABLISHED)
ssh   182446user4u IPv4   76397181   0t0
TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)
ssh   182446user5u IPv6   76397182   0t0
TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)

and similarly:

$ ssh -g host
user@host:~$ exit
$ ssh -gTfNL 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

However, if it isn't then -g is ignored on subsequent attempts to
forward ports:

$ ssh host
user@host:~$ exit
$ ssh -g -L 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 127.0.0.1:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

$ lsof -n

ssh   182399user3u IPv4   76390396   0t0
TCP 192.168.0.9:51178-192.168.0.15:ssh (ESTABLISHED)
ssh   182399user4u unix 0x   0t0
76390976 /home/user/.ssh/user@host
ssh   182399user6u IPv6   76392394   0t0
TCP [::1]:3128 (LISTEN)
ssh   182399user7u IPv4   76392395   0t0
TCP 127.0.0.1:3128 (LISTEN)

This doesn't really make sense: ssh should still be capable of binding
to the correct address as requested.

[Bug 1259950] [NEW] browsers are not responding-ghosting and hanging inoperational, then returning briefly

2013-12-11 Thread Aniel Paranjpe
Public bug reported:

Unpredictably my browsers will work, and then trouble may start. Mostly
with Firefox (and Arora) where the browser window goes a dark ghostly
shade, becoming dull but still visible. The browser then is inoperable
and at some point then returns to full brightness, and will maybe accept
a click or two before shadowing out again. This will happened repeatedly
and last a long time. I have had to force quit the browser and restart,
restore my tabs, and try to continue. This may need to be done several
times before the service is operational again for a few hours. It is not
my connection, since Chrome rarely has the problem, and run
simultaneously means i'm forced to jump form one browser to the other.
Thunderbird carries on working It is no specific tab to blame- I have
checked that.

Having tried to upgrade to 12.10 (from 12.04lts where this problem
began)I still find the problem and I had managed all software updates
prior to upgrading, and the problem is as bad. In fact I'm trying to
restore a FF session now and for the first time it's proving really hard
to get a response -There are script problems also eg

Script: resource://gre/modules/XPIProvider.jsm -
jar:file:///home/ap/.mozilla/firefox/5pt5d5rv.default/extensions/jid1-jcgokiiqyjo...@jetpack.xpi!/bootstrap.js
- resource://gre/modules/commonjs/toolkit/loader.js -
resource://gre/modules/commonjs/sdk/url.js:79

 I fear it is still an issue with the NVidia graphic card GeForce
210/PCIe/SSE2 . I run a HP Compaq DC6700 convertible tower Intel®
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz × 2 32-bit

  apt 0.9.7.5ubuntu5.6

I have reported further problems here:

[Bug 1183326] Re: squid-deb-proxy-client-udeb broken in Ubuntu

2013-12-11 Thread Javier P.L.
How squid-deb-proxy-client, squid-deb-proxy-client-udeb can be seeded
into main?, I've reviewed https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionProcess
and it states that only source packages should be reported. However
squid-deb-proxy already  is on main.

Re: [Bug 1259641] Re: package spamassassin 3.3.2-6ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2013-12-11 Thread trigeek
Thanks, Yolanda.

I got the following error when running apt-get install packaging-dev:
Errors were encountered while processing:
 samba4
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I then ran apt-file update and got the same error.
I went ahead and generated a GPG key anyway.

I have been getting that samba error for a while and got an error message,
 something like Package installation failed when running today's updates.

[Bug 1202839] Re: qemu-bridge-helper missing from qemu-kvm or elsewhere

2013-12-11 Thread Serge Hallyn
** Description changed:

+
+ 1. Impact: qemu-bridge helper is not present for users to configure if they
+wish.
+ 2. Development fix: re-introduce the qemu-bridge-helper
+ 3. Stable fix: same as development fix
+ 4. Test case: ls -l /usr/lib/qemu-bridge-helper
+ 5. Regression potential: none, we just re-add the file.
+
+
  In Qantal the qemu-bridge-helper was in the qemu-kvm package, see
  http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/amd64/qemu-kvm/filelist

  In Raring, it does not appear to be in any package, so it seems to be
  impossible to create a VM attached to a bridge.

[Bug 1259950] Re: browsers are not responding-ghosting and hanging inoperational, then returning briefly

2013-12-11 Thread Robie Basak
This is clearly not an ntp issue. I'm not sure what it is, or whether
this is a bug at all. Please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for help.

If, instead of trying to report a bug, you're trying to get help, then
you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:

From the man page:
 -g Allows remote hosts to connect to local forwarded ports.

When working with a control socket, this works fine if -g is included
with the initial connect attempt, for example:

ControlMaster   auto
ControlPath ~/.ssh/%r@%h:%p

$ ssh -gTfNL 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

ssh   182446user4u IPv4   76397181   0t0
TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)
ssh   182446user5u IPv6   76397182   0t0
TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)

and similarly:

$ ssh -g host
user@host:~$ exit
$ ssh -gTfNL 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:12345 0.0.0.0:*

However, if it isn't then -g is ignored on subsequent attempts to
forward ports:

$ ssh host
user@host:~$ exit
$ ssh -g -L 12345:localhost:12345 host
$ netstat -tln

tcp0  0 127.0.0.1:12345 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN  -

$ lsof -n

ssh   182399user3u IPv4   76390396   0t0
TCP 192.168.0.9:51178-192.168.0.15:ssh (ESTABLISHED)
ssh   182399user4u unix 0x   0t0

ssh   182399user6u IPv6   76392394   0t0

ssh   182399user7u IPv4   76392395   0t0
TCP 127.0.0.1:3128 (LISTEN)

This doesn't really make sense: ssh should still be capable of binding
to the correct address as requested.

[Bug 1178618] Re: --hotkey option does not work when the menu is hidden

2013-12-11 Thread Bin Li
I verified this issue.
First I change the /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ like below.

-menuentry Memory test (memtest86+) {
+menuentry Memory test (memtest86+) --hotkey f9{

After update-grub and reboot, F9 could work.

Next, I change the /etc/default/grub, I added 'GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden'
After update-grub and reboot, F9 could work.

Next, I change the /etc/default/grub like below.
-GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=10
After update-grub and reboot, F9 could work.

So, I thought this issue should be fixed.

[Bug 1259821] Re: upgrade to saucy fails but no custom ppas like xorg-edgers or xswat

2013-12-11 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks

[Bug 1259850] [NEW] KDE powermanagement crashes kernel

2013-12-11 Thread Andreas Steffan
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell Latitude D6510 running (K)ubuntu 13.10 with the current
kernel (3.11.0-14). In KDE when I pull the power cord, the system
instantly freezes - completely, leaving no helpful traces of the cause
in syslog or pm-powersave.log.

It does not happen w/o a running KDE session or when I switch to Unity
or XFCE. Hence, I suspect KDE triggering the bug.

Googling for power unplug crash linux kernel yields a bunch of
somewhat similiar issues, but those all seem slightly diffrent from what
I see. In fact, I have had the/an unplug crash issue before like a
year or so ago. Somehow it vanished, and now it is back again, so this
could be a kernel regression.

[Bug 968308]

2013-12-11 Thread francesco
Thank you Frits... I will try it.

I hope that in the next releases, of both Eclipse and Ubuntu, these
problems will be fixed.

(In reply to Frits Jalvingh from comment #85)
 (In reply to Francesco D\'Amore from comment #84)
  Unfortunatly there aren't JVM crash files available for logging.
 Well, I had that too; I managed to get proper jvm logfiles by using a start
 script instead of Eclipse's launcher. Create a file start.sh in your
 eclipse home with:

 #!/bin/bash
 ulimit -c unlimited
 /opt/java/jdk1.7.0_25/bin/java -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Xmx2048m
 -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/dev/null
 -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla -jar
 plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_*.jar -console

 Mark it executable (chmod a+x start.sh) and use it to start Eclipse. This at
 least produces the jvm logs again.

 In addition, for me Eclipse on Ubuntu 13.04 has been *rock solid*, both 4.2
 and 4.3, no crashes *at all* with daily use for many hours a day (yes, lack
 of real life ;-) by doing the following:

 * Disable browser support by adding the
 -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/dev/null
 -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla
 parameters to eclipse.ini

 * Apply the workaround for bug# 416869:
 sudo apt-get remove overlay-scrollbar

 With those things no crashes.

 Hi Francesco. There are a few other bugs that could be still affecting you.
 The other crash that I got really often is the one related to
 overlay-scrollbar triggering a stack overflow. I also saw this on a
 colleague's 13.04. Could you try still using webkit but disabling
 overlay-scrollbar?

 sudo apt-get remove overlay-scrollbar
 or start Eclipse with LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 environment variable.

 I'm trying to get webkit fixed in Ubuntu by backporting the fix so any help
 in testing is appreciated.

 One other crash is Bug 420550, but it should be unrelated to webkit or
 overlay-scrollbar.

[Bug 1247572] Re: Nokia Lumia 620 (WP8) fails to mount reliably via gvfs-mtp in nautilus

2013-12-11 Thread Benjamin Tegge
** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #720238
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=720238

** Changed in: gvfs
   Importance: Undecided = Unknown

** Changed in: gvfs
   Status: New = Unknown

** Changed in: gvfs
 Remote watch: None = GNOME Bug Tracker #720238

** Description changed:

+ Summary: You have to run mtp-detect in terminal until you get output
+ similar to the excerpt in the steps to reproduce section, then you can
+ connect via nautilus as usual.
+
+ -
+
  I just got a Nokia Lumia 620 as a backup phone. I'd say I can mount my
  Nexus 4 reliably with Ubuntu via nautilus using gvfs-mtp. Users with
  Android devices like the Nexus 4 still get error messages on a regularly
  basis of the device not being able to mount, but replugging the device
  mostly fixes the issue.

  However, the experience with the Lumia 620 is far worse (the desktop
  sometimes freezes) and the workaround I found to get the device to work
  very crude.

  I was prompted with a apport-collector window when nautilus froze during
  testing and send a report (this happend twice), but it didn't take me to
  Launchpad to open a report. I can also seen no bug regarding that topic
  that I am subscribed to.

  The Lumia 620 itself was added to libmtp with this report:
  http://sourceforge.net/p/libmtp/bugs/780/

  ## Steps to reproduce:

  1. Reboot (or cold boot) computer and phone. Login to computers destop and
unlock the phone by entering PIN.
  2. Plug the phone via USB into the computer. (Cable works with Nexus 4 or
another Android device.) The phone will give a signal that it is connected to
the computer.
  3. Try to open the phone in Nautilus. My desktop either freezes (cold boot)
here or nautilus hangs (reboot).

  3.a) If nautilus hangs: Open a terminal with Ctrl+Alt+T and kill nautilus
with xkill.
  3.b) If your desktop froze: Go to a virtual terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F1.
  3.c) If you just get an error message: Open a terminal with Ctrl+Alt+T and go
to step 4.

  4. Execute 'mtp-detect' (from mtp-tools package) from terminal (either
  via Dektop or virtual terminal). If you get one of the following
  messages wait a few seconds and try again.

    $ mtp-detect
    Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6

    LIBMTP PANIC: failed to open session on second attempt
    Unable to open raw device 0
    OK.

  ---

  Repeat this until you get a long list of scrolling text that ends with
  something similar to this:

    MTP-specific device properties:
   Friendly name: Windows Phone
   Synchronization partner: (NULL)
   Battery level 74 of 100 (74%)

  5. Go to a virtual terminal and do 'sudo service lightdm restart'. Login
  again, you hear the phone reconnecting to your computer and should now
  be able to open your phone in nautilus seeing the phones internal
  storage and the SD card (if there is) als sub devices.

  6. Unplug the phone from the computer and start with step 2 if you want
  to connect the phone again.

[Bug 1259861] [NEW] 5-10 second delay in kernel boot

2013-12-11 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Public bug reported:

In Trusty I see a big delay while the kernel boots that I did not see back in
Precise.
Some people have been experiencing this in Saucy too, so I don't know exactly
when it started happening.
Excerpt from dmesg:
[3.740100] Switched to clocksource tsc
[ 14.208118] PM: Hibernation image not present or could not be loaded.
[   14.208885] Freeing unused kernel memory: 864K (c19ac000 - c1a84000)

The exact messages above don't matter, they are different on different boots or
on different machines.
It even happens with e.g.
$ sudo kvm -m 768 -cdrom trusty-desktop-i386.iso

My current kernel is
Linux server 3.12.0-7-generic #15-Ubuntu SMP Sun Dec 8 23:42:09 UTC 2013 i686
i686 i686 GNU/Linux
...but the exact version, maybe from 3.8 to 3.12+, shouldn't matter, just run
`dmesg` yourself and check if there's a big delay there.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Incomplete

[Bug 1156008] Re: Install the System step failed in Ubuntu Server

2013-12-11 Thread Délawen
I had the same error with newly downloaded ubuntu 12.04 server install
image on a virtual machine. I don't know how to copy the text from the
vm, but you can find the error attached as an image.

I am using 64 bits of virtual machine with 1 GB of disk storage, all
default settings. The virtual machine used is KVM.
