[Bug 1277467] Re: dig 9.9.3 behave differently than previous version on SOA record

2014-02-09 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

In your example, you haven't specified which server dig should query,
and I can see that the responses have come from different servers. I
don't see any documentation that states that server selection should be
deterministic.

It seems to me that in both cases dig is behaving as designed; it is the
two different servers that are responding with two different responses
in your case. I would expect the flags to also represent the difference
in response from the different servers that you are querying.

Marking as Incomplete, as I don't see a bug here. Please clarify and
change the bug status to New or Invalid as appropriate.

[Bug 1246236] Re: pxe boot from maas fails due to time out

2014-02-09 Thread Julian Edwards
Nobody has reported seeing this for a while. I looked at the code and it
has a whole second timeout per packet. You would think that this is more
than enough over a LAN segment.

I also discovered that the tftp client can set its own timeouts
(http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2349). Given that you see it working
from one client and not another, I am suspicious although there's
nothing in the tcpdump that shows a timeout option getting set.

Are you still seeing this problem?

[Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly

2014-02-09 Thread juanmanuel
PS: My laptop has a 24GB SSD (alongside a 500GB HDD), in which there was
originally two partitions (one used by Samsung ExpressCache, the other
one I guess used by Intel Rapid Start).

and... I reformated the SSD partition to install linux there when I
bought it. Lucky I kept the layout:

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb120483745791918727936 73 Unknown
/dev/sdb23745792046895103 4718592 84 OS/2 hidden C: drive

Maybe the BIOS/chipset expects an SSD partition with such and such id
(84) to have suspend work properly??

[Bug 1278027] Re: Software center is not loading

2014-02-09 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1278027/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse from working

2014-02-09 Thread Paul M Edwards
I'm having the same problem after upgrading from 13.04 with Gnome-Shell
3.8 to 13.10 with Gnome-Shell 3.10. I do not use Pidgin.

In my experience, the problem is consistently reproducible when the
Overview is exited by clicking on an application. When I select any
running application on any Workspace, all applications fail to respond
to any mouse input. If I, from the Overview, click to show the Desktop
(thanks to the Show Desktop From Overview extension), then Alt-Tab to a
running application on that Workspace, I don't encounter the issue.

However, I have found one way to quickly recover which is to activate
the Google Chrome browser (which I always have running) and switch tabs
via the Ctrl+Pg[Up|Down] keyboard shortcut. I find that it usually takes
a couple switches Up and Down, irrespective of which direction I go
(i.e. I almost always must go both directions). I happen to have had
these keyboard shortcuts bound to the left right tilt of my Logitech
MX Revolution mouse wheel for quite a long time, even before the
upgrade, using xbindkeys.

I've performed some extensive testing and my conclusion is that the
issue is somehow caused by Chrome, or perhaps the fact that Chrome is
resident in memory, consuming 2.7 GB of RAM currently according to
Chrome's own internal reporting. I've tried disabling all Gnome-Shell
extensions which had no effect. I next tried disabling all Chrome
extensions which had a small, but noticeable, effect. The only thing
that seems to have dramatically abated the issue is not having Chrome
loaded at all.

Here are my system specs, in case it's relevant:
Power:
  RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready
Modular Power Supply
Motherboard:
ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
CPU:
  AMD FX-8120 8-core 3.1 GHz CPU
RAM:
  Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3
10600) Desktop Memory
Display:
 Video:
  MSI R6570-MD2GD3/LP Radeon HD 6570 2GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16
 Output:
Insignia 42 LCD HDTV connected via VGA, running at 1920x1080 resolution
(1080p)
Storage:
1 x WDC WD10EZEX-00RKKA0 1.0 TB SATA HD used as OS / Home
4.5 TB BTRFS storage array comprised of:
2 x ST31500341AS 1.5 TB SATA HD
1 x ST31500541AS 1.5 TB SATA HD

I think my video card is the weak point and that it needs to be upgraded. After
upgrading to 13.10 I did install the latest ATI proprietary video driver direct
from their website. Prior to upgrading I had been using the latest
Ubuntu-provided binary driver. That may also be a factor, but I haven't tested
it.

Yeah, this is in my TODO queue, I hope I will get to it by the week end.

A template file, the bug is not related to this one - LO crashes with any
Writer template

Hi,

LO Version: 4.2.0.3
Build ID: c63c03decdf780d8fb80823950665b782ec9ecd0

crashes, when I try to open a template for editing from the Template
manager.

To repeat:
If you do not have any templates installed, install the attached template and
close LO

1. Start LO
2. Open the Template manager by clicking the Templates button
3. There, navigate to a template and activate it by single click. A toolbar
appears.
4. Click the Edit button on the toolbar - LO crashes

OK in LO41

Tested only with Writer templates

Also, the logs will tell you very little (other than signaling:5 logs)
for webrtc unless you run a debug build (from the mozilla ftp server -
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/)

Since it happens in 25.0.1 (is that from mozilla's servers, or is that a
distro build?) and not in nightly, could you try Aurora/27 and Beta/26?

If it is fixed in nightly, and not in Aurora, we may be able to uplift
it if I find out soon. It's too late for Beta/26 since that will go out
RSN.

[Bug 1270571] Re: Systemsettings crash when interrupting kcm-language at loading

2014-02-09 Thread Harald Sitter
Yeah, it's a qapt bug, that I think I fixed for the next release. Alas,
not quite sure when we are going to do the next release

quick back story:
to prevent the UI from blocking qapt started eventloop processing inside
itself, which is sort of like multithreading except it's inside the same thread
thus less prone to threading issues. however even without multiple threads it
caues issues when an application is not prepared for this sort of behavior. in
particular in the bug at hand due to the unblocked UI you were able to cause
the quit signal (by closing the app) which caused a destruction while in fact
the application was still constructing which is why it exploded. anyway, long
story short we decided that this was nasty behavior and removed the unblocking
which still seems to give resonable fast experience regardless.

It also fails if you try to execute gnome-control-center on a headless

something, probably will take them a reasonable effort (or hack) to make

[Bug 1095917] Re: nfs mounts failing during reboot 12.04

2014-02-09 Thread Torsten Bronger
It seems to happen at exactly every other reboot.

The workaround script from above does not work for me because rc.local
is run too late in the boot process. The computer hangs and waits for
the nfs mounts because it is execued.

If anyone is willing to investigate this, I'm ready to make tests and
give feedback.

[Bug 1276752] Re: Upgrade zeromq to 4.0.3

2014-02-09 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better. Looks like zeromq4 has been packaged in Debian experimental
(http://packages.qa.debian.org/z/zeromq3.html). Once it migrates to
unstable, it should be automatically synced to Ubuntu as well, though it
may also be possible to request a sync earlier.

[Bug 1278043] [NEW] No Arabic support

2014-02-09 Thread Linux4Ever
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Thank you very much for your efforts, but Orca doesn't support Arabic.
I really hope that Orca support it, many people will benefit so much.

These applications support Arabic - they are for windows - maybe they have what
Orca developers need to support Arabic
vocalizer, nvda, jaws

I found this link
https://vocalizer-nvda.com/downloads
It has Arabic packages, which I hope help.

* I have reported this but to Orca, but an Orca developer said that I
should report it to speech dispatcher

2014-02-09 Thread Javier P.L.
The ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu package is responsible of show-casting
images while installing Ubuntu. I don't see how this package may be
related to this issue. I'll remove it and set the importance as medium,
since it looks like an important issue which could affect a lot of
users. Feel free to further comment if you have additional data or if
you disagree with the importance and assigned package.

[Bug 1278046] [NEW] X -configure segfaults

2014-02-09 Thread Alejandro Mery
Public bug reported:

I want to use dual head (VGA+LVDS) since lightdm instead of getting Xfce

Also because the mouse pointer is wrongly rendered on the VGA (too high,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make
Ubuntu better. However, it seems that you are not using a software
package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this
the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please
report this bug to the provider of the software package.

Even though it may seems as an apport bug, the faulty code is located at

[Bug 1268197] Re: UI freeze when doing import from 'Music' folder on first run

2014-02-09 Thread Javier P.L.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please try to obtain a backtrace following the
instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload
the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report.

This will greatly help a developer to track down your problem.

The attached backtrace even when could refer to the same problem has no
symbols and therefore cannot be used for a developer to discover what
failed and how to create a fix.

[Bug 1278048] [NEW] fstrim-all needs hdparm but not depend on it

2014-02-09 Thread Malte Swart
Public bug reported:

Package version: 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu14

/sbin/fstrim-all uses hdparm (line 53) but the util-linux does not

[Bug 1278046] Re: X -configure segfaults

2014-02-09 Thread Alejandro Mery
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I want to use dual head (VGA+LVDS) since lightdm instead of getting Xfce
to set it up after login, and using us/altgr-intl instead of us/intl.
Also because the mouse pointer is wrongly rendered on the VGA (too high,
and carrying a black box on it's tail)

Ideally I would like to dump the current xrand settings into an
xorg.conf file, but I would be happy with a not segfaulting X -configure

[Bug 1274456] Re: BOINC is always suspended, if set to work when IDLE

2014-02-09 Thread LocutusOfBorg
You need to register on alioth and apply for the pkg-boinc team after
adding your key to alioth.

If you want to start contributing you might want to do this, otherwise you can
export the commit as a patch with
git format-patch -1
and post here the patch.

I'll review and apply myself!

[Bug 1278052] [NEW] Mounted partitons use the same launcher icon as the home folder

2014-02-09 Thread Francesco Tarantini
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.10. On my launcher I have an icon for my data partition and the
default icon for my home folder. When I click on the partition icon, a nautilus
window opens, showing the content of that partition (let's call it 'window A').
The problem is that 'window A' uses the home icon insted of the partition icon
(i.e. the home icon is highlighted), so after you minimize 'window A' you'd
have to click on the home icon to bring it up again, but of course this opens
your home folder instead. Clicking on the partition icon does nothing, not even
open a new partition window.
The only way to bring 'window A' up again is using the scrollwheel, which is
normally used to switch between different windows of the same application.
I think that windows for partitions should use their own icons, so it would be
easier to manage them and understand whether you have your home folder or your
partition opened.

[Bug 1278057] [NEW] Sync ibus-qt 1.3.2-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-02-09 Thread Artur Rona
Public bug reported:

Please sync ibus-qt 1.3.2-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Merge from Debian unstable. (LP: #1277273) Remaining changes:
- debian/rules: Set -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS=-DQT_NO_DEBUG_OUTPUT
-DQT_NO_WARNING_OUTPUT to stop annoying debug output for
  every application.
  * debian/patches/upstream_DISPLAY_crash_fix.diff:
- Dropped, fixed upstream.
  * No change rebuild against libicu52
  * Add upstream_DISPLAY_crash_fix.diff preventing a crash when -display
was passed but no DISPLAY environment variable is actually defined
(LP: #927167)
  * Add upstream_DISPLAY_crash_fix.diff preventing a crash when -display
was passed but no DISPLAY environment variable is actually defined
(LP: #927167)
  * No-change rebuild against ibus 1.5
  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:
- Set -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS=-DQT_NO_DEBUG_OUTPUT -DQT_NO_WARNING_OUTPUT to
stop annoying debug output for every application.

Debian has adopted our delta.

Changelog entries since current trusty version 1.3.2-1ubuntu1:

ibus-qt (1.3.2-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Remove recommends: qt4-qtconfig.  Closes: #611190
  * Quiet Qt via DEB_CFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND. Closes: #738136
