Re: [Bug 1284793] Re: [FFE] Merge qemu 2.0

2014-03-26 Thread Serge Hallyn
It looks like this is https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297651

A patch should be coming soon to fix it. (In the meantime you
should be able to get the previous version's debs from the ppa
by hand; If that's a problem please let me know)

should report it upstream and link this bug to the upstream report. Is
anyone else able to reproduce this on 13.10?

[Bug 1297878] [NEW] Keyboard presses fall through and hit surface behind them

2014-03-26 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

So when I upgrade my phone to mir/devel, I have the problem that
keyboard presses on the OSK *also* hit the surface behind it. And the
keyboard won't be dismissed.

Looking into it, it appears to be because the following code is never
run with mir/devel (from OSKController.qml in unity-mir):

Connections {
target: __oskSurface
onStateChanged: {
if (__oskSurface.state === MirSurface.Maximized) {
__oskSurface.visible = true;
oskInputArea.enabled = true;
}
}
}

That is, the surface never notifies unity-mir that the surface is
maximized. And as a result, the input area that steals events is never
enabled.

I'm assuming this is an unintentional change in Mir. Or maybe it is an
intentional change and unity-mir should look for a different event?

[Bug 1297876] [NEW] Screen turns on when a new session/surface appears

2014-03-26 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

I'm testing the split greeter. And the following happens:

- Press power button, screen goes off
- In background, the greeter session is launching
- When it appears, the screen turns back on (input is not accepted, you can
just see it)

That should not happen.

I had *thought* this was fixed by [1]. I even have a memory of testing
that branch on top of 0.1.17 and confirming it worked. But now with
mir/devel, the bug is back. So either my earlier test was faulty or
some other branch in mir/devel is breaking it again.

[Bug 1279012] Re: Online search behind proxy does not return results

2014-03-26 Thread Jobin Raju George
I can confirm that this bug **does not** persist on linux kernel version
3.14.0-031400rc8-generic.

[ Steps taken to confirm the bug does not persist on 3.14 ]

1) Downloaded linux-headers from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
headers-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

and linux-image from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

2) Installed linux-image using

sudo dpkg -i linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

3) Rebooted

4) Confirm that I am on 3.14 using

uname -a

which returns

Linux stepup 3.14.0-031400rc8-generic #201403242335 SMP Tue Mar 25
03:36:22 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

5) Put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid, which triggers suspension.

6) Resume from sleep after about 5 minutes.

7) Unlock screen using my password and wait to check if it locks again.

8) Voila, it doesn't lock for at least an hour. Have been waiting to see
if it does still ;-)

[Bug 1297886] [NEW] two marker on FF after closing a webapp

2014-03-26 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

On a fresh install the first run of firefox + webapp leaves the marker
for the webapp window in place even after it is closed.

STEPS:
1. Open firefox goto launchpad.net
2. In the launcher open an a webapp
3. Note the 2 markers to the left of the FF launcher
4. Close the webapp
5. Note the 2 markers to the left of the FF launcher

This only seems to be the case on the first opening of FF and a webapp.
Once you close both FF and the webapp on the next test it is not
reproducible.

[Bug 1283966] Re: Looping while selecting the same object is causing the application to die raising a dbus no reply exception

2014-03-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, that's a bug in gedit actually. gedit/gedit-window.c declares the state
property as GFlags:
g_object_class_install_property (object_class,
 PROP_STATE,
 g_param_spec_flags (state,
 State,
 The window's
state,

GEDIT_TYPE_WINDOW_STATE,

GEDIT_WINDOW_STATE_NORMAL,
 G_PARAM_READABLE |

G_PARAM_STATIC_STRINGS));

But gedit_window_get_property() calls g_value_set_enum() on the GValue;
it should be g_value_set_flags().

[Bug 1296270] Re: Have to login twice after suspending

2014-03-26 Thread Jobin Raju George
tag: kernel-fixed-upstream

I can confirm that this bug **does not** persist on linux kernel version
3.14.0-031400rc8-generic.

[ Steps taken to confirm the bug does not persist on 3.14 ]

1) Downloaded linux-headers from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
headers-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

and linux-image from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

2) Installed linux-image using

sudo dpkg -i linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

3) Rebooted

4) Confirm that I am on 3.14 using

uname -a

which returns

Linux stepup 3.14.0-031400rc8-generic #201403242335 SMP Tue Mar 25
03:36:22 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

5) Put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid, which triggers suspension.

6) Resume from sleep after about 5 minutes.

7) Unlock screen using my password and wait to check if it locks again.

8) Voila, it doesn't lock for at least an hour. Have been waiting to see
if it does still ;-)

[Bug 1297889] [NEW] Add i18n support to scopes

2014-03-26 Thread David Planella
Public bug reported:

After landing the new scopes, we noticed a regression in which all
scopes that previously were translated in the old API now appear
untranslated. In order to fix this:

- The Unity scopes API should provide some level of support for
internationalizing strings that are shared across scopes.
- Individual scopes that we install by default should be i18n-enabled
- Remote scopes should have a way to pass the locale to the corresponding
remote scopes server

[Bug 512220] Re: cupsd crash Closing on unknown HTTP state 0

2014-03-26 Thread Johannes Martin
@prunkdump:
The last lines in the log file do not look like they are neccessarily caused by
the print jobs submitted just before. Are there any cupsdReadClient lines
before those lines? Do they look like this:
D [07/Mar/2014:07:15:35 +0100] cupsdReadClient: 19 GET
/printers/some-printer-name.ppd HTTP/1.1

Then it's definitely not a print job but some other client enumerating
the available printers, which seems to be what Firefox is doing and also
what the Java printing API is doing.

[Bug 512220] Re: cupsd crash Closing on unknown HTTP state 0

2014-03-26 Thread Johannes Martin
@Ritesh  Bryan:
I just noticed our testing instance only has a single CPU, so maybe the problem
will not occur at all in the testing environment. If it hasn't surfaced within
a week, I will allot another CPU to the VM and keep trying to reproduce the
problem.

Maybe this is also the reason why you couldn't reproduce the problem
with a live CD yet. The other reason might be that the live CD will not
be able to recover a saved firefox session as reported in the original
bug description.

I have not attempted to reproduce the problem with a live CD or with
Firefox yet.

[Bug 512220] Re: cupsd crash Closing on unknown HTTP state 0

2014-03-26 Thread Johannes Martin
@prunkdump:
I've also reported the bug also on Canonical's internal (subscription based)
support portal before I knew it had been reported on launchpad as well.

Ritesh told me earlier to run a special debug version of cupsd under
valgrind. The logrotate configuration for cupsd did not work well with
valgrind, so I disabled logrotate for cupsd. I than ran cupsd under
valgrind for some time, and the crashes were gone.

To make sure it wasn't valgrind that caused the bug to disappear, I then
ran the debug version of cupsd without valgrind, but forgot to reenable
logrotate. cupsd still did not crash.

Then I noticed that logrotate was disabled. I reenabled logrotate, and
soon after, cupsd showed the regular crashes.

I subsequently identified a web application using Java printing API to
always be involved in the crashes (i.e. a number of requests from the
machine showing in the logs just before the crashes). A couple of days
ago, I redirected that web application to a testing cups instance to try
to reproduce the problem there.

The production instance hasn't crashed since.

The testing instance hasn't crashed either, but the crashes usually only
occur every couple of days. So they might still come.

[Bug 1297889] Re: Add i18n support to scopes

2014-03-26 Thread David Planella
** Tags added: i18n-touch

** Description changed:

After landing the new scopes, we noticed a regression in which all
scopes that previously were translated in the old API now appear
untranslated. In order to fix this:

  - The Unity scopes API should provide some level of support for
internationalizing strings that are shared across scopes.
  - Individual scopes that we install by default should be i18n-enabled
  - Remote scopes should have a way to pass the locale to the corresponding
remote scopes server

[Bug 1297893] [NEW] Giant text and (some) giant icons

2014-03-26 Thread Nick Burch
Public bug reported:

I've just upgraded to 14.04, from 13.10, and suddenly all my text and
most of my icons are now giant!

If you look at the attached photo, you can see the text is huge, most
icons are huge, but a few icons (eg the close / minimise / maximise ones
at the top right of the firefox screen) are shown correctly. Previously,
before the upgrade, everything displayed at a sensible size

The screen is a LG TV, connected over VGA. xrandr shows that it's
working in the correct (highest, native) resolution:

$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 160mm x 90mm
   1920x1080 60.0*+
   1280x1024 60.0
   1280x720 60.0
   1024x768 60.0
   800x60060.3
   640x48060.0 59.9
DVI-D-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I don't have a photo of it on 13.10, but I have found a photo of the
same system (computer, TV etc) on 12.04 which should hopefully provide a
guide as to roughly what size I would expect text and icons to be!

+ Steps to reproduce:
+ 1) Ensure the backup app is configured to make backups
+ 2) Launch the backup app. The background will be grey (normal)
+ 3) Click the 'Details' twisty
+
+ Expected results:
+ The Details pane is shown. The background of the app does not change
+
+ Actual results:
+ The Details pane is shown. The background of the app becomes black. It stays
black if you close the Details pane.

[Bug 1296697] Re: Trusty Desktop installer crashed with Encrypted Home set

2014-03-26 Thread Colin Watson
OK, so I have a fix for the ubiquity side of things, but the swap setup
post-reboot still doesn't work. However, I think that's something that
needs to be fixed elsewhere. I started a conversation with Dustin about
it on IRC and we'll see where that goes:

14:53 cjwatson kirkland: so, bug 1172014
14:54 cjwatson kirkland: this change caused a regression in ubiquity; not
really your fault, ubiquity needed to resolve the UUID= in crypttab because it
explicitly zeroes the device
14:54 cjwatson kirkland: but more importantly, I can't actually make the swap
setup work properly even after fixing that ubiquity bug
14:56 cjwatson kirkland: I think
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/1172014/comments/9
has the right of it; the swap space is set up with a random key, there's no
container, so how can it have a stable UUID?
14:58 cjwatson kirkland: indeed when I reboot after installation, re-point
crypttab to /dev/sda5 so that I can cryptdisks_start, copy the new UUID into
/etc/crypttab, and reboot, it still doesn't work

Apparently this was an unfortunate upstream regression and still affects
precise. The good news is that Quantal and later are not affected.
I'll mark this ticket as fixed accordingly. I'll also request a fix for
precise but I have little hope of it actually happening. I'd advise
users to upgrade to trusty soon after its release instead.

[Bug 1297153] Re: Lock screen gives no indication that session is locked rather than logged out

That would be better than nothing. But it would change the triangles
from something only people on multi-user systems need to notice and
understand, to something that everyone who ever locks their session
needs to notice and understand. I doubt many people notice them in the
first place.

[Bug 1288241] Re: gnome-screensaver is running twice and prompts twice to unlock

2014-03-26 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Actually, in my case it was apparmor-notify. It was starting via the old
/etc/X11/Xsession.d mechanism which made it start on a different bus.
Moving the autostart to /etc/xdg/autostart fixes this issue for me.
Thanks to Sebastien and Marc for helping me diagnose this. Assigning to
myself-- I'll fix it in the next apparmor upload. If people are still
seeing this issue and they do not have apparmor-notify installed, please
file a new bug.

[Bug 1297061] Re: hud-service crashed with SIGSEGV

2014-03-26 Thread Charles Kerr
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate an useful symbolic stack trace).
This might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on
your system at the time of the report. Please upgrade your system to the
latest package versions. If you still encounter the crash, please file a
new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1297904] [NEW] Pressing h hides the window

I don't know if vnc4server is to blame, but:

[Bug 1297903] [NEW] (Traditional Chinese install) main screen mostly in English in Live CD

2014-03-26 Thread Pierre Equoy
Public bug reported:

Version tested: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS beta1 i386
(http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/313/builds/65364/downloads)

Using Tradition Chinese install, the first screen showed contains mostly
English (see screenshot attached).

When clicking on the time (top right of the screen), the calendar shown
is in Chinese, and when hovered, some of the icons on the left shows
Chinese characters (for instance the first one to install Ubuntu is in
Chinese), but the other are not (e.g. System Settings).

After launching the installation itself, everything is correctly in
Chinese apart from the timezone detection (Taipei is shown as is
instead of 臺北市 for instance). I'm not sure if this is correct

[Bug 1254884] Re: Pulseaudio: incoherent muting of GStreamer channels (mutes master, headphone and speaker, but unmutes only master)

2014-03-26 Thread Horst Schirmeier
This problem persists on Ubuntu 14.04. It might be a good idea to fix
this before this LTS version is released. Raymond, any idea what we
could do to get this forward?
