[Bug 1304613] Re: nodes can't get out to the internet beyond the maas server by default

2014-04-23 Thread Julian Edwards
Jeff,

Everyone's network setup can be different and MAAS tries not to be
prescriptive at all but does assume that anyone setting this stuff up
will know a bit about networks. If you are hiding your nodes from the
internet behind your MAAS server then I don't think I'd say that MAAS is
actively doing anything to harm you here, you just need to know to
enable ip_forward and NAT.

As I said in my first reply, I think MAAS can do a bit better at helping
these simple seed cloud setups and encourage a scripted installation
that will configure everything for you. This sort of thing would rarely
get used on large installs though as most large users will be a bit more
paranoid about explicitly configuring every tiny detail themselves.
Many of them don't even want MAAS to manage DHCP.

I'll amend the title of this bug now to reflect the fact that we want
MAAS to do some scripted installation scenarios to cover common small
use cases.

Thanks for filing this!

** Summary changed:

- nodes can't get out to the internet beyond the maas server by default
+ MAAS could be more helpful with scripted installation scenarios to cover
common network setups

Re: [Bug 1310844] Re: find_ip_via_arp() results in unpredictable, and in some cases, incorrect IP addresses

2014-04-23 Thread Julian Edwards
That's easily reproducible, if you set AMT to use a static IP address,
while the OS running on the system draws its own DHCP address from MAAS.
In this case, there are actually multiple MAC addresses with the same IP
 address.

Don't you mean a single MAC with multiple IPs? The other way around would be
absurd and break your network.

[Bug 1311476] [NEW] Upgrade to Trusty breaks 2560x1440 over DVI on intel haswell

2014-04-23 Thread Eamon Nerbonne
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Trusty, my Dell U2711 won't run at its native
2560x1440. Instead, resolution is limited to 1920x1200.

However, if I connect this monitor via displayport, it works fine; it
also worked fine in 13.10.

Some weird things: apparently, the driver thinks the DVI port is
actually an HDMI port. I found bugs #859389 (old), #890088 (mint,
nvidia not intel), and #980453 (also nvidia, also old) which also refer
to false recognition as an HDMI port.

I found a thread (in german) http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/2560x1440
-funktioniert-ploetzlich-nicht-mehr-d/ which sounds exactly like my
problem.

Attempting to force the resolution with xrandr didn't work (and resulted
in some odd errors I can't interpret), but using the results of gtf
2560 1440 30.0 (i.e. 30fps not 60) at least temporarily worked, but the
display (predictably) looks pretty laggy.

I'm not sure what graphics driver is running (though I'm pretty sure
it's the default for haswell) nor how to tell, but I'll reboot and
generate a clean(ish) Xorg log and attach that.

[Bug 1311476] Re: Upgrade to Trusty breaks 2560x1440 over DVI on intel haswell

2014-04-23 Thread Eamon Nerbonne
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

- I'm not sure what graphics driver is running (though I'm pretty sure
- it's the default for haswell) nor how to tell, but I'll reboot and
- generate a clean(ish) Xorg log and attach that.

[Bug 1311484] [NEW] Intel Haswell Graphics controller[8086:0a16] Small blocks appear in Firefox randomly

2014-04-23 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201307-13941 Dell Latitude E5440

Some small black block will appear when you scroll up in Firefox.

Steps:
1. Install 12.04.4 + updates (3.11.0-19)
2. Open https://docs.python.org/devguide/ in your Firefox with maximized window
3. Scroll to the bottom of the webpage, and scroll up

Expected result:
* Display works fine

Actuel result:
* Small black boxes appear in the browser when you scrolling up, this does not
only happen in this page.
But if you shrink the window size, it'll be hard to reproduce.
Verified with LibreOffice Calc, cannot be reproduced in it.

This might be an Intel driver related issue, see:

[Bug 1309578] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 suddenly reboots when booting from Live USB (AMD APU's)

2014-04-23 Thread Sangeet Khatri
@gerst : 14.04 is not a fail by any means, it is just that currently we
are unable to run it on our hardware, with a bug fix or perhaps a BIOS
update from MSI, things would be alright again.

Meanwhile 14.04 flies on my Intel's Core2Duo laptop. It is pretty
awesome.

[Bug 1311489] [NEW] Apache config should be placed in conf-available, not conf.d

2014-04-23 Thread Mark Duncan

[Bug 763703] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV

2014-04-23 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 1282349] Re: Crashes on invalid/broken core dumps when using Show details...

2014-04-23 Thread Martin Pitt
Fixed in trunk r2789.

** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu Untitled)

** Description changed:

  TEST CASE:
  - Produce a crash report: sh -c 'kill -SEGV $$'; close the Apport popup
window.
  - Edit /var/crash/_bin_dash.1000.crash; remove a few characters at the end of
the CoreDump field (at the very end of the file)
  - Apport pops up again; click on Show Details..., analysis will start, and
hang forever
  - Apport should pop up a second time, for apport-gtk itself.

[Bug 1310762] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 random freeze and lock up

2014-04-23 Thread Iaroslav Z.
It seems to me that problem is in nvidia/nouveau drivers. Switched to
Intel card and no lockups so far.

The problem is clearly upstream of Ubuntu as it affects a number of
distros with that kernel/nVidia driver combo - yep, seems so.

[Bug 1311497] [NEW] Restore function of generated snapshots does not work

2014-04-23 Thread Thomas Bechtold
Public bug reported:

reprepro can generate snapshots of distributions. But the restore of a
snapshot does not work.

Steps to reproduce the problem in a clean directory:

1) mkdir conf/
2) cat conf/distributions EOF
Codename: testcode
Description: testdesc
Architectures: amd64 source
Components: main
Contents: .gz
EOF
3) reprepro includedeb testcode hello-debhelper_2.7-2_amd64.deb #Include a deb
4) reprepro gensnapshot testcode mysnapshot # generates a snapshot under
dists/testcode/snashot
5) reprepro includedeb testcode hello-debhelper_2.7-2dtag1_amd64.deb #Include
another deb (this is just another rebuild with a different version number)
6) restore testcode mysnapshot hello-debhelper #should restore the package but
nothing happens

The last step should restore the package but that does not work. The fix
for that can be found upstream:

[Bug 1118689] Re: HP envy dv4 - radio kill hotkey does not work

2014-04-23 Thread Alex Hung
@Tim,

The patch may no longer valid as HP changes some of their BIOS
behaviours for wireless hotkey. Do you have any problems other than
wireless hotkey?

After kernel 3.6, Linux kernel returns true for _OSI(Windows 2012),
and wireless hotkey triggers different event (not WMI). A different
kernel (hp-wireless) is needed but it is not available until kernel
3.14.

Do you want to try mainline kernel later than 3.14 @
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?

If it doesn't work, will you please upload acpidump (sudo acpidump
acpi.log) for my references?

[Bug 1310346] Re: jue, que, xue mapped to jiong, qiong, xiong in 14.04

2014-04-23 Thread Vanity Harmony
I tested sunpinyin by fcitx and ibus.
This bug appears in both input methods. So there may be no problem in the
packages of fcitx and ibus.
For sunpinyin-data, there's no differences among raring, saucy and trusty.
This bug did not appear when I was in UBUNTU saucy, so I tried to use packages
for saucy and tested. (sunpinyin-utils and libsunpinyin3)
The result is that the bug is because of the package named 'libsunpinyin3'.
I use all new packages except this 'libsunpinyin3'package. I use the
libsunpinyin3_2.0.3+git20120607-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb instead. After this,
sunpinyin is OK.

So I think there may be some problems in the package 'libsunpinyin3',
'libsunpinyin3_2.0.3+git20130507-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb'.

[Bug 1311501] [NEW] [desktoptouch] Two finger gesture scrolls and zooms

2014-04-23 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

On Chromium 2 finger gesture zooms and scrolls and the result on the UI is
confusing.
When the user scrolls the page with 2 fingers and the distance between the
fingers changes, then the zoom level changes.
When the user wants to zoom with a 2 fingers pinch, the zoom level changes but
the page moves too.

TEST CASE:
1. Open an URL with enough content to reveal the vertical scrollbar
2. Do a 2 finger gesture with pinch and drag simultaneously

ACTUAL RESULT:
The content scrolls and zooms

EXPECTED RESULT
It does one or the other. Since a 1 finger drag already scrolls the content,
maybe 2 finger could only do a zoom
