[Bug 1290717]

2014-04-23 Thread Iadzhubey-s
OK, figured it out myself:

$ mysql --socket=/tmp/akonadi-${USER}.rp6WPG/mysql.socket
mysql use akonadi
mysql DELETE FROM PartTable WHERE name = 'GID';
mysql quit
Bye
$ akonadictl start

That helped and akonadi database migration was successfully completed.
KMail is now working again.

P.S. Nota, that exact name of your akonadi mysqld instance temporary
socket file will be different, use the following command to find it out:

$ ps aux | grep mysqld

Then look for the line in the output with the following parameter:
--datadir=/home/$USER/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/. Copy the --socket=
parameter from the same line to start mysql textmode client above.

[Bug 1311552] Re: System always entering image media after finish the recovery without the installer media unplugged.

2014-04-23 Thread Bin Li
I just reviewed the source code util/grub-install.c

  if (uuid)
{
  fprintf (load_cfg_f, search.fs_uuid %s root ,
  uuid);
  grub_install_push_module (search_fs_uuid);
}

After that why we use grub_util_fprint_full_disk_name ) to add the disk
name? Is it ok if we don't add it or skip it to below lines.

  fprintf (load_cfg_f, set prefix=($root)'%s'\n,
   escaped_relpath);

[Bug 1290717]

2014-04-23 Thread Hh-kde-crash
(In reply to comment #16)
Ivan, you are a legend!

Experienced this issue upgrading from Kubuntu 13.10 to 14.04; Akonadi DB
probably goes back to Kubunnto 12 era :
mysql DELETE FROM PartTable WHERE name='GID';
Query OK, 48 rows affected (1.12 sec)

Can I add that having Akonadi as a single point of failure it's a real
shame that it took me a day of poking around to find this bug report; no
other user visible means of diagnosis etc.

[Bug 1290717]

2014-04-23 Thread Dvratil
Git commit 4ca8b846baaad48ebbd723f6411f9571a3b0f5ad by Dan Vrátil.
Committed on 22/04/2014 at 09:28.
Pushed by dvratil into branch '1.12'.

Remove the invalid GID part from PartTable before starting PartTable
migration

More people than we expected have invalid 'GID' part in their PartTable,
which breaks migration to schema 25, because it expects all part types
to have a valid name.

To work around this fact, we DELETE all parts with name 'GID' from PartTable
before starting the actual migration. This will not fix the migration for
people with other invalid parts, but I haven't heard of any such. To make
this completely bullet-proof, we would need to iterate through all entries,
which would be massively slower than current INSERT INTO ... SELECT FROM
approach.

Distributions, this is a good choice for backporting into 1.12.1 ;-)
FIXED-IN: 1.12.2

M +9-0server/src/storage/dbupdater.cpp

[Bug 1311552] Re: System always entering image media after finish the recovery without the installer media unplugged.

2014-04-23 Thread Bin Li
After I remove the grub.cfg in U-disk, and reboot it again, it will
enter into the grub shell.

GRUB version 2.02~beta2-8.

grub echo $prefix
(hd0,msdos1)/boot/grub
grub ls
(memdisk) (hd0) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos1) (hd1) (hd1,gpt2) (hd1,gpt1) (cd0)

grub cat (hd1,gpt1)/efi/boot/grub.cfg
search.fs_uuid 1DFE-465B root hd0,gpt2
set prefix=($root)'/boot/grub'
configfile $prefix/grub.cfg

grub search.fs_uuid 1DFE-465B
hd1,gpt2

So I do the step by manual, then it could resolve our issue.

grub search.fs_uuid 1DFE-465B root
grub set prefix=($root)'/boot/grub'
grub configfile $prefix/grub.cfg

So in the line search.fs_uuid 1DFE-465B root hd0,gpt2, we don't need
write disk_name on it.

GRUB version 2.02~beta2-9 also have the same issue.

When you insert the U-disk, it can't assure the hd0 is hard disk,
sometimes it's U-disk, and this is the root cause of this issue.

Part 2: Read charset from the channel

This part is no longer needed with the follow-up patch of bug 989576.

Although, would it be nice to emit a meta charset=UTF-8 tag if we
know that the charset is UTF-8 so that we don't have to detect it later
on (and report that annoying warning to the console)?

[Bug 1309591] Re: ubuntu-distro-info --devel fails (distro-info data out of date)

2014-04-23 Thread Iain Lane
I think we should just fall back to reporting stable in this case.

Here's a patch that does this for the command-line tool. I've not done
it for the libraries, but can do if we want that too.

[Bug 1311527] Re: baloo file indexer uses 100% io making work impossible

2014-04-23 Thread Harald Sitter
Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

[Bug 1309237] Re: Work around whoopsie returning null string during session start

2014-04-23 Thread John Lenton
** Description changed:

During session startup, the call to whoopsie_identifier_generate will on
some devices leave both buffer and error as NULL.

In particular, running http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7268480/ on mako (and
presumably on manta) as a *session* upstart job, with the upstart script
of http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7268498/ will get a null, null for the
first 10 seconds (approximately) on mako:

Rebooting (boot in dmesg -T at Thu Apr 17 14:32:36 2014, first init:
line at Thu Apr 17 14:32:44 2014), in the upstart logs I get a series of

  2014-04-17T14:32:54+ (null) :: nil

(that's also the first such line ,10s after init)
  until suddenly

  2014-04-17T14:32:56+ (null) :: nil
  2014-04-17T14:32:56+ 81dc12[...]cd58 :: nil

I don't know what's causing this, as it doesn't make sense from what I
  can read in the code.
+
+ --
+
+ The whoopsie bug is now in lp:1311571
+
+ --
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ ubuntu-push-client gets an empty string for the whoopsie identifier,
+ which is rather not unique (so connections from multiple devices will
+ get disconnected).
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ You need:
+
+ * a computer capable of running the ubuntu push server.
+ * at least two devices using the stable image and that can talk to the
computer over the network
+
+ on a computer reachable from the devices, do:
+
+ mkdir -p test-case-1309231/src/launchpad.net
+ cd !$
+ bzr branch lp:ubuntu-push
+ cd ubuntu-push
+ make bootstrap
+ sed -i~ -e 's/127.0.0.1//g' sampleconfigs/dev.json
+ make run-server-dev
+
+ on the devices, edit /etc/xdg/ubuntu-push-client/config.json (or copy it
+ to ~phablet/.config/ubuntu-push-client/config.json and edit it there) so
+ that addr points to the IP address of the computer, and port 9090;
+ something like
+
+ addr: 192.168.1.1:9090
+
+ (note there is no https:// as the hosts discovery step is being
+ skipped).
+
+ Reboot the devices. Tailing ~phablet/.cache/upstart/ubuntu-push-
+ client.log will show a series of rapid disconnects and reconnects; the
+ output of the server will show a series of empty registered (as
+ opposed to registered followed by a 256-byte hash).
+
+ [Regression potential]
+
+ There's a possibility that whoopsie never stops returning a null string,
+ and thus we never progress. Given that for whoopsie to return null seems
+ to imply there is no network device up, that's probably for the best.

[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

2014-04-23 Thread Stefan Bader
It is a bit odd. Ok, some warnings seems to be coming from pacemaker commands.
Like the
WARN: decode_transition_key: Bad UUID (crm-resource-3048) in sscanf result (3)
for 0:0:crm-resource-3048

I guess the problem is this:
Apr 22 21:55:43 storage0 lrmd: [1242]: info: RA output:
(p_drbd_bigpool:0:start:stderr) drbdadm: Unknown command 'syncer'
Apr 22 21:55:43 storage0 drbd[3079]: ERROR: bigpool: Called drbdadm -c
/etc/drbd.conf syncer bigpool

This would mean that drbdadm did not pass control on drbdadm-83. And
that would only happen if the current version did not seem to be 8.3.
That version number looks to be read from /proc/drbd and would reflect
the version of the kernel module. At least as long as reading from
/proc/drbd is not failing. Then it would fall back to a version number
defined in the command (which would be wrong). Would have been
interesting to find out whether calling drbdadm syncer bigpool
manually would fail the same way but that would need another maintenance
window. Maybe try to see what /proc/drbd is showing.

I probably would suggest that we open a new bug report for the cluster
case, so this one can be closed with the fix to drbdsetup. Then at least
the direct usage seems to work.

[Bug 1301003] Re: kworker runs with 40-60% CPU because of modules e1000 and/or e1000e

2014-04-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Hans Deragon, as per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update to
your BIOS is available (2.30). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see

Thank you for your understanding.

2014-04-23 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1311576] [NEW] Wifi can't connect when there are many AP for the same SSID

2014-04-23 Thread EgU
Public bug reported:

Hi

I'm uncertain if this is the correct package, please move if you think
it should!

The story:
I just updated to Ubuntu 14.04 and soon noticed that it can't connect to my
office wifi. This worked fine with 13.10.

After some testing I noticed that I could connect to my home wifi and to
my mobile hotspot. All three using WPA2 security.

The only difference is that my office have several AP:s for the same
SSID (To cover the whole office space) and my mobile hotspot and home
wifi have only one AP.

I have generated wireless_info.txt from wireless_script to gather as
much information as possible. They will be included in this ticket. The
test is done at extract the same spot, just after each other.

wireless-info-single-AP.txt - Connected via my mobile hostpot (EgUSpot)
currently in use for writing this ticket.

wireless-info-multi-AP.txt - While trying to connect to office wifi
(Aurora, I think)

All passwords and so on is triple checked and they all worked before
updating to 14.04 from 13.10

The laptop I test with is a Lenovo T440p with Intel Wireless 7260 chip.

I hope I got all the information you need to solve this, if not please
ask and I will try to add the requested information.

/BR

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Due to your unusual configuration, I don't think it's reasonable to
expect the maintainer script to be able to automatically deal with your
situation. It'll need tweaking manually. Thus, I don't consider this to
be a bug, so am marking this Invalid.

If you disagree, please do explain and change the bug status back to
New. Thanks!

[Bug 1278863] Re: package gnome-settings-daemon-schemas (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: tentative de remplacement de « /usr/share/GConf/gsettings/gnome-settings-daemon.convert », qui appart

2014-04-23 Thread caspar luc
For those who don't have aptitude or ppa-purge, the problem can be solved (in a
dirty way) by downloading the .deb package and installing it through the
command: dpkg --force-overwrite -i package_name.
Removing gnome PPA had no effects for me, because they were already
automatically disabled through the do-release-upgrade command.
The suggested command will enable you to use apt-get again, but can be harmful
to your system. So use it at your own risk.

[Bug 1311586] [NEW] apt-add-repository on trusty leaves precise in filename and commented out deb-src lines

2014-04-23 Thread Jan Groenewald
Public bug reported:

On do-release-upgrade, this deb line is commented out:

Before
0 jan@muizenberg:/etc/apt/sources.list.d$cat aims-aims-desktop-precise.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/aims/aims-desktop/ubuntu precise main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/aims/aims-desktop/ubuntu precise main

After
0 jan@muizenberg:/etc/apt/sources.list.d$cat aims-aims-desktop-precise.list
# deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/aims/aims-desktop/ubuntu precise main # disabled
on upgrade to trusty
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/aims/aims-desktop/ubuntu precise main

Once do-release-upgrade is done, running apt-add-repository enables the
deb line and changes it to trusty inside the file, but leaves 1) the
filename as precise, and 2) leaves the commented deb-src line at
precise.

Both could be upgraded to trusty

2014-04-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Taihsiang Ho, thanks for your comment.

The name HP Compaq CQ2000 PC is what the information I have so far.

Fair enough.

I expected you are looking for the information related to the
components of that machine. And the link in comment #5 has such
information.
http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201206-11401/components/;

Unfortunately, your expectation would mistaken, as I'm looking for the
specific model name as per the sticker, not series name, as per my prior

[Bug 1301937] Re: Ubuntu 14.04: can't write non-latin letters in the editor

2014-04-23 Thread Aurel Branzeanu
If I change the keyboard layout to russian when editor is not running,
then starting it, I could type only in russian.

The curious thing is the behaviour is not the same with romanian
language - romanian characters are not typed at all, in any case...

[Bug 1311588] Re: Error when upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04

2014-04-23 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1069133 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069133

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks.

[Bug 1281930] Re: 10de:0760 [Asus M3N78-VM] nVidia on board network card with forcedeth driver freezes system

2014-04-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Marco Aicardi, could you please confirm this issue exists with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a terminal, as it will automatically gather and attach updated
debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux 1281930

[Bug 1311532] Re: dist update crash when calculating

2014-04-23 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1279762 ***

You seem to have installed the cinnamon package on Ubuntu 13.10.
Unfortunately, that package is not available yet for 14.04. To upgrade
to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS you'll need to either wait for a fix for cinnamon to
be available or uninstall the package and then upgrade.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1311563] Re: [desktoptouch] No way to reveal the launcher through touch

2014-04-23 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch describes the gesture as
4 finger swipe left/right to reveal launcher (if the dock autohide is enabled)

that worked for me when I did beta testing (I'm not on a touch laptop
atm to try but I'm going to look at it later) ... what gesture did you
try?
