[Bug 1315643] [NEW] powerwake should make a best-effort attempt to guess broadcast
Public bug reported: When I powerwake by hostname or IP, powerwake knows what network that is, and if we have a route for it, we should hit that subnet's broadcast, rather than 255.255.255.255, which is less reliable. Example here: (base)adconrad@lucifer:~$ ip ro sh default via 68.145.116.1 dev eth0 10.0.0.0/27 dev br0 proto kernel scope link src 10.0.0.1 68.145.116.0/22 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 68.145.119.149 And a powerwake to 10.0.0.14 only works if I send it explicitly to 10.0.0.31. [Bug 1315741] [NEW] The dnsmasq initscript fails to disable itself when the dnsmasq package is removed
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04 and found that I had no DNS. After a little searching I noticed that dnsmasq, as started by Network Manager, was listening on 127.0.1.1, yet /etc/resolv.conf was being auto- populated with 127.0.0.1, so DNS lookups were failing. Manually adding 127.0.1.1 to /etc/resolv.conf lets DNS work until the network state changes, then it gets overwritten again with 127.0.0.1. I've worked around the issue by adding nameserver 127.0.1.1 to /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head and restarting network-manager. Something left over from 12.04 is apparently still causing 127.0.0.1 to be written instead of 127.0.1.1. ** Affects: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- The dnsmasq initscript fails to disable itself when the dnsmasq package is removed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1315601] [NEW] no sound
Public bug reported: First: I bought a new AMD Radeon HD 7750 GPU and installed it, adding Catalyst from Ubuntu software center and get the propri. drives for it. After that I had no sound. Found a solution after two days of search- AMD and pulseaudio dont work toghether, and follow there instructions to change it to ALSA instead (removed PulsAudio). After that I had sound, in the system and from the net. No problems, exept for a game that the sound didn't work on. There soundfiles is in ogg/worbis format, and my VLC coulden't play them. Find out that was an ALSA library that was missing (libasound2-dev). Installed that library and after that I can't get any sound at all. Removed the library, but still no sound. [Bug 1301873]
I think that although CSD might be a good fit for GNOME they are problematic in Xfce for various well-known reasons: * CSD look out of place in a heterogeneous application environment (which is much more likely for Xfce than GNOME or KDE users since Xfce does not have such a broad range of native applications) where windows of applications using different toolkits such as GTK2 (most of Xfce for the time being), Qt, or Java are combined * xfwm4 has the ability to forcibly close windows of hung applications which is impossible with CSD and they cannot even be moved * xfwm4 allows to roll up a window, show a window on all workspaces or always keep it on the top layer, all of which is impossible with CSD * xfwm4 allows to customize the buttons shown in the titlebar, e.g. a button for pinng or rolling up windows, all of which is lost with CSD and leads to inconsistencies because such buttons are not even supported * xfwm4 allows to customize mouse actions on top of the window decorations such as double-clicking the title-bar or rolling up the window with the mouse-wheel, all of which is impossible with CSD Thus, CSD are IMO generally undesirable and unsuitable for Xfce and the above patch should not be merged. Rather, and not only because this affects Xfce but also setups which only use a window manager without a complete DE, or more importantly KDE, I think it is not unreasonable for asking the Gtk side to add a setting for disabling CSD. By that I mean not drawing its own border and hiding client window controls and disabling the MWM hints that disable the window manager's decorations. From reading about CSD on Matthias blog I figure that it is currently only possible to change the order of client side window controls and their appearance on dialog windows. Matthias, could you implement something like that as an xsetting? Our xfsettingsd could then use that setting to disable CSD by default when running an Xfce session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301873 Title: Add support for title-less windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfwm4/+bug/1301873/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1313194] Re: Bochs Multiple Vulnerabilities
Response from our finder: I’ve saw that they’re replied to this bug and deemed it not a security issue. I don’t agree with that, as their reason is they’re saying bxrc is a config file. Of course it is, but it’s part of the packaging for a virtual machine. Example: If I packaged up a test.img with a malicious test.bxrc, got an user to download my TestOS package and run it in Bochs, the target could be exploited. I don’t see much difference between a VMware VMX file and a Bochs BXRC file, both are vm config files and if these issues were present VMware’s parsing of a VMX file, they’d treat it (as they have in the past) as a serious security issue: http://osvdb.com/search/search?search%5Bvuln_title%5D=vmware+vmxsearch%5Btext_type%5D=alltextsearch%5Brefid%5D=search%5Breferencetypes%5D=kthx=search -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313194 Title: Bochs Multiple Vulnerabilities To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bochs/+bug/1313194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1315619] [NEW] Job with 4 threads not assigned 4 distinct cores
Public bug reported: On 12.04, I have reliably found that a job which starts 4 long-running threads on an otherwise-idle machine (there are some other threads which have been running for some time, but they have been kill -STOPped) gets the threads allocated to 4 distinct cores on my Haswell. On 14.04, I found that the threads were allocated to cores 0, 1, 5, 6 - that is, two were running on the two hyper-threads 1 and 5 of the same core, and performance was 30% less than expected. I can get around this with explicit taskset commands, but for my use case it's a serious regression from 12.04. [Bug 1311424] Re: Startup Disk Creator dont erase pen drive
Same thing here while trying to format a USB thumbdrive in trusty. Looks very similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udisks/+bug/1059872 and, like the latter, could be one of the many symptoms of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/util-linux/+bug/1012081 (ancient util-linux in Debian/Ubuntu). A workaround is to use gparted to format the target disk to fat32. (The Disks utility won't work either, see those other bugs.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311424 Title: Startup Disk Creator dont erase pen drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1311424/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1315619] Re: Job with 4 threads not assigned 4 distinct cores
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1315619/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1315611] Re: Keyboard shortcut CTRL+D for adding bookmark not working [Firefox 29, clean profile]
They key here seems to be locale. When started with default English locale, by setting LANG=C in environment, the bug does not occur and CTRL+D works for bookmarking. However, with Norwegian locale (LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8), it does not work and CTRL+R is marked in menu as shortcut for bookmarking. In Safe Mode, Firefox seems to use English locale regardless of environment, which may explain why the bug does not occur then. ** Summary changed: - Keyboard shortcut CTRL+D for adding bookmark not working [Firefox 29, clean profile] + Keyboard shortcut CTRL+D for adding bookmarks not working with Norwegian locale [Firefox 29] -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315611 Title: Keyboard shortcut CTRL+D for adding bookmarks not working with Norwegian locale [Firefox 29] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1315611/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
