[Bug 1334958] Re: package haproxy 1.4.24-2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

I have resolved this for this install; this box had an actual user
account called `haproxy`. I renamed this account to something else and
attempted the update again. It was successful that time.

[Bug 1325025] Re: juju-core does not depend on distro-info

2014-06-27 Thread Robie Basak
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ Juju in a particular release is expected to deploy future releases
+ unless something fundamental has changed about them. Without having
+ distro-info installed, a user would need to wait for an SRU to juju-
+ core's hardcoded defaults, which we don't want to have to do.
+
+ [Development Fix]
+
+ Depend on distro-info. Juju automatically sees this and uses its
+ information over its hardcoded defaults (which are necessary on other
+ platforms that do not have distro-info available).
+
+ [Stable Fix]
+
+ Same as development fix.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ There isn't really one currently that can effectively be executed
+ manually, since it involve waiting for a new release. However, there are
+ now dep8 tests which pretend that a future release exists and that Juju
+ works on them. These should be verified to pass. The catch is that for a
+ Trusty SRU, Utopic exists, of course, and Juju 1.18.4 already knows
+ about it. On balance, I think that if the dep8 future tests succeed,
+ then this is sufficient to have confidence that Utopic+1 will also work.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ A Juju user who previously did not have distro-info installed will
+ switch Juju's source of knowledge of distribution releases. This could
+ cause a change in behavior.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
  juju uses distro-info-data to understand what Ubuntu releases exist,
  falling back to its own knowledge if it is not available. When we open a
  new development release, the version of juju-core that is copied forward
  does not know about the release, causing juju-core such as in bug
  1314686.

  As we work to eliminate these bugs, so that juju-core does not have
  release names hardcoded, we should also make sure that distro-info-data
  is always available to juju, so that as we open new releases, juju-core
  will automatically learn about and be able to use them without having to
  change juju-core itself.

  So we should add a dependency of distro-info (or -data) to juju-core.

[Bug 1335221] [NEW] libvirt builds should include packager information

2014-06-27 Thread Daniel Berrange
Public bug reported:

The libvirt configure script has a special feature especially for distro
vendors to use when building binary packages which lets them encode a
bit of information about the builds, which then ends up in log files.
This does not appear to be used in Ubuntu builds which makes it
impossible to determine exactly which particular build of libvirt was
used by the bug reporter

For example, on Ubuntu currently if you turn on libvirt logging you'll
see a message like this:

  2014-06-27 15:12:33.274+: 20830: info : libvirt version: 1.2.2

By comparison on Fedora / RHEL systems you'd see something like this:

  2014-06-27 16:30:33.837+: 2454: info : libvirt version: 1.2.2,
package: 1.fc20 (Unknown, 2014-06-27-15:41:14, mustard.redhat.com)

In particular notice that it includes the precise RPM release number, so
that you can figure out exactly which binary package the bug reporter
used. eg on Ubuntu this would be the 0ubuntu13 part of the version
number in trusty libvirt builds.

Debian/ubuntu packages could set this doing something like this

  when=`date +%%F-%%T`
  where=`hostname`
  who=Unknown (or name of the person or entity doing the build)
  what=0ubuntu13 (or whatever current build is)

  ./configure  --with-packager=$who $when $where \
 --with-packager-version=$what \
...other args to configure...

And then check that this has then propagated to the log messages

 Bug description:
   [Impact]

* Upstream has just released a bug fix point release for the 0.27
   MythTV release. As Mythbuntu is only does LTS releases, upstream
   would like to see this updated in our base OS before the next
   Mythbuntu point release.

* Before reviewing and filing additional bugs, upstream would like to
   see users on this point release release.

* Most of the fixes are directly user facing. The biggest
   improvement is to the the LiveTV performance and to the fullscreen
   behavior to both XFCE as well as Unity.

   [Test Case]

* Set up a functional production mythtv install with the 0.27
   release. Upgrade to 0.27.1 and ensure that no new regressions have
   been introduced.

   [Regression Potential]

* upstream has been staging all of the fixes in a devel/027candidates
   branch for the last few months with continuous calls to feedback and
   more resulting fixes. They just recently tagged 0.27.1

* Regression potential is low due to this iterative process as well
   as the fact that it's a bug fix only release.

* All of the changes and individual fixed bugs are called out in the
   upstream changelog for 0.27.1:

   http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Release_Notes_-_0.27.1

[Bug 1334495] Re: Two different fonts mixed to display Chinese text in all desktop applications

2014-06-27 Thread Lukas Bunsen
I experimented a bit more yesterday. I didn't find a option for the sub-
locales in KDE, but installed language-selector-gnome, where it is
possible to change.

To be on the safe side, I just also directly edited /etc/default/locale
as suggested by you.

After reboot:

cat /etc/default/locale
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8

locale
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=de:en:zh:en
LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TIME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MONETARY=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_PAPER=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NAME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_ALL=

The problem still exists.

Additionally I tried some more programmes. My impression now is that the
problem only exists with KDE, e.g. QT programmes and things like all
window titles. In Gnome applications (I tried Geany and Pidgin) Chinese
text is displayed normally, in Thunderbird too (not sure what toolkit
thunderbird uses).

I deinstalled fonts-arphic-ukai which seemed to be the italic font
used. Now, text is still displayed using two different fonts, but the
italic font changed. (I am using italic and normal to describe how
the fonts look, but it is not equal to a text's attribute in Latin
script. The difference between the two fonts could perhaps be compared
to serif and sans serif in Latin script)

In the font settings, everything is set to Ubuntu, except for the
monospace font which is set to Monospace.

Also, all characters in the attached text are very common, so it
shouldn't be the case that some characters are displayed by a fall back
font because they don't exist in the first choice.

[Bug 1334954] Re: Complete HUAWEI Mobile broadband E352 support

2014-06-27 Thread Lars Melin
Please state which Ubuntu version, linux kernel version, and usb_modeswitch
version you are using and also the content of the udev popup message.
The usb_modeswitch.conf file is for global configs and should not be used for
individual device configuration, there should be a device config file named
12d1:14fe in the usb_modeswitch data package which you can find in
/usr/share/usb_modeswitch/configPack.tar.gz

What you have entered in usb_modeswitch.conf is an incomplete device
config (no switch method/switch message) so I doubt it has any effect,
you should remove that.

[Bug 1334954] Re: Complete HUAWEI Mobile broadband E352 support

2014-06-27 Thread Lars Melin
The kernel oops is btw from ModemManager and not from usb_modeswitch.
Make sure by checking the system log (after removing the faulty config in
usb_modeswitch.conf) that usb_modeswitch switches the dongle from 12d1:14fe to
12d1:1506 at every insert.
If it does, then assign the bug to NetworkManager which should handle the
dongles direct ethernet interface (cdc_ncm, huawei_cdc_ncm, and cdc_wdm. see
the log for those).
It should not be handled by ModemManager which is for ppp dialup even though
the dongle supports that mode.

Started getting this also a few days ago.
Nvidia and AMD64

chromium-browser --version
Chromium 34.0.1847.116 Ubuntu 14.04 aura

Side note - I had problems with chromium before the Aw, Snap's started.
It would launch on my main monitor, but if I tried to move te window to another
monitor (I have 6) the chromium window would go black. Moving it back to the
main screen caused it to properly display content.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-27 Thread cschramm
When using the deb version (1.23-git201406261335-deb-1) and running
blueman-applet in a terminal, what output do you get?

There should be things like:

Starting source redirector
Found source
Source not found :(
module-loopback load result
Loopback module unload result
Destroying redirector

And some IDs from the Module class. Basically every output from the
PulseAudio.py file is relevant.

[Bug 115774] Re: graceful full disk handling. syslog.0 and kern.log.0 grow huge

2014-06-27 Thread Timon Zielonka
Kubuntu 14.04 still hangs on boot when the disk is full.

My disk was full and the result was that after the normal login the
system simply hangs. After switching to the console and removing some
files I could restart and login.

I think, that if the disk is full, kubuntu should popup with a message
and (more important) switch to the console. And should create a warning
if the disk space is getting low.

[Bug 1000416] Re: [needs-packaging] Thunar Dropbox

2014-06-27 Thread Unit 193
Howdy and thanks for the review!

I have checked and fixed the errors, as well as changed to the
recommended Xubuntu Developers maintainer and licensing.

That location is correct for non-multiarch packages. This package does
not easily support multiarch, so it was not added.

** Patch added: Debdiff with the requested fixes

2014-06-27 Thread hansvschoot
Hi, I was suffering from the same problem.
For everybody who ends up here looking for a quick fix, you can manually
downgrade the package by downloading it from here (select your platform on the
right side of the page below builds):
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6.4

then open a terminal and install it using dpkg (replace the path with the file
you downloaded, amd64bit for me):
sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/gnome-settings-daemon_3.4.2-0ubuntu0.6.4_amd64.deb

[Bug 1334998] [NEW] When using Super+L keys autohide not working properly

2014-06-27 Thread harry
Public bug reported:

When using the super+l keys to lock the screen, the unity panel gets
stuck. This happens whenever the user first clicks on the super key and
then the L key. Clicking simutaniously works as expected.

The issue was also reported on Ask Ubuntu:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/459585/launcher-auto-hide-not-working-
ubuntu-14-04/469732?noredirect=1#comment652314_469732

There is a workaround (the user has to double tap the super key)
however, this is one of those papercuts that gets rather annoying over
time.

I would expect the system to be a little more tolerant in terms of the
sequnce of keys pressed. If I first click on the super key and then the
L key, the panel will not be locked when I log back in.

[Bug 1334864] Re: boinc-manager 7.2.42+gfsg-1 brick 14.04 new clean install

2014-06-27 Thread LocutusOfBorg
This is really unlickely a boinc bug, rather a dpkg one (or linux one).
I have the same configuration as you, and I never faced such a problem, and
neither I ever saw this kind of bug on boinc.

I would like if possible to have more informations about your system, if
it was up-to-date prior to install boinc, and all the information that
might help fixing the issue.

However as said before, this is unlickely a boinc bug.

[Bug 1333728] Re: update-manager should support HWE EOL transition

2014-06-27 Thread Michael Vogt
** Description changed:

  In ubuntu 12.04 parts of the older HardwareEnablementStack is going out
  of support soon. update-manager should support the transition to the new
- HardwareEnablementStack.
+ HardwareEnablementStack (HWE).
+
+ Impact:
+ - all user with of ubuntu 12.04.{2,3,4} are affected and need the update to
have a good transition
+
+ Testing:
+ - install 12.04.2 (or .3, .4)
+ - run update-manager
+ - verify that nothing special happens (except for updates being available :)
+ - install update-manager from precise-proposed
+ - start update-manager and verify that a new hardware support label becomes
available with a install button
+ - log into a console and verify that you get a message after login that you
need to upgrade your hardware support
+ - run ubuntu-support-status and verify that it displays information about the
new HWE support
+ - click the button, verify that information is available and click install
+ - after the install is finished, reboot and verify that update-manager does
not display anything about the hardware again
+ - verify that ubuntu-support-status and /etc/motd do not contain references
to the HWE anymore
+
+ Potential risk:
+ - if the new update-manager is buggy this may prevent users from getting
updates, so we need to test this carefully

  For details, see https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/core-1403

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-27 Thread zig59
@Kiori

audio.conf is attached. This is as installed as standard as far as I
know.

@cschramm

As a simple user I'm starting to get out of my depth with the diagnostic
procedures, please bear that in mind if I've misinterpreted your instructions.
When I originally ran blueman-applet in terminal I got:
Loading configuration plugins
blueman-applet version 1.23 starting
There is an instance already running

So issuing killall blueman-applet and then reissuing blueman-applet I
did not get any of the output you specified, simply a load of app load
and initialisation messages. I've copied these into the attached file.

I've also included the relevant part of var/log/syslog although there's
not much to see.

Apologies in advance if there is a delay over the next few days. I may
be able to get back online on Sunday.

Regards

** Attachment added: Contains audio.conf, terminal and syslog messages

 Hi punjabi,

 We are missing all relevant information to be able to investigate this
 bug. Could you please run
 apport-collect 1334558
 on the same system where you experience this issue? It will make sure
 that the minimal information that we need is attached to this bug report.

 Paul

[Bug 1335003] Re: it won't let me upgrade saying it's 3rd party software even though it says it disabled them.

2014-06-27 Thread ser nerd
oh, it occurs to me to add that i did have a problem with the video
driver a while ago (was trying to find one that played videos better,
they are slow jerky and laggy ) and it took some poking in packages and
other places to stop getting a black screen when i tried to log in.
can't for the life of me remember how i fixed it. took hours and i was
really brain dead by then. not sure if that helps for it has been
working fine since i sorted it. followed some how to on ubuntu site.

that's all i can thing of...

[Bug 1335006] [NEW] aptitude: auto-selects wrong packages

2014-06-27 Thread Enrico Weigelt, metux ITS
Public bug reported:

Aptitude automatically selects recommended packages.

Neither --without-recommends nor setting APT::Install-Recommends seem to
have any influence.

Reproduce:

* kick out packages which are just recommended (using apt-get)
* start aptitude
* press g

This behavious is observed since several releases, at least existing in several
releases
(at least in saucy and trusty).

It renders aptitude virtually unusable in cases where you do NOT want the
recommended
packages installed automatically.

2014-06-27 Thread cschramm
Thanks for the output!

Did you connect the audio device? Then it looks like the applet plugin
indeed does not do anything... But then again the version without the
plugin (1.23-git201406231750-nopahandling) should not make any
difference... :/

[Bug 1335000] Re: Launcher regression super + shift + number doesn't work properly

2014-06-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1335000/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
