[Bug 1293993] Re: [MRE] Rebase Xen to upstream stable 4.1.6.1

2014-07-09 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Stefan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xen into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen/4.1.6.1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: xen (Ubuntu Precise)
   Status: In Progress = Fix Committed

[Bug 1332120] Re: panic error while backup mailboxes with doveadm backup

2014-07-09 Thread Lars
Is there anyone working on this report?

This isn't only a bug report but also a fix report.
And the fix isn't from someone strange on the net but the original author of
dovecot.

So _please_ fix this.
This packet is essential for an imap mail server.

Thanks
Lars

[Bug 1307473] Re: guest hang due to missing clock interrupt

2014-07-09 Thread Ondergetekende
We haven't been able to reproduce the issues under lab conditions, and
I'm not willing to use our production setup as a guinypig anymore. These
issues have cost me too much credibility already.

We believe #1326367 is causing this, as we've bisected this issue to be
between 3.13.0-27.50 and 3.13.0-29.53 (see our results earlier).
#1326367 is the only change which felt relevant, but admittedly, this is
just a hunch.

[Bug 1339609] [NEW] md raid resync causing KVM guests overload

2014-07-09 Thread Stanislav Bocinec
Public bug reported:

Everytime /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray RAID consistency check is being
executed (started on first sunday of a month by /etc/cron.d/mdadm) on
Ubuntu 12.04.4 KVM hypervisor, KVM guests running on the host
(Ubuntu/Debian/Scientific linux/Windows ) start to swap, freeze,
throwing 'BUG: soft lockup - CPU stuck for..!' errors on the consoles,
processes are coredumping on the guests etc. KVM host starts to swap
even it has enough memory available and every disk IO demanding
operation/process on any guest causes whole environment is affected and
unusable (similar situation to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/312163).

RAID check procedure shouldn't cause the KVM guests become unusable.

Some of the KVM guests use either qcow2 image storage format (virtio) or
RAW disks (LVM, virtio). All KVM guests are affected.

[Bug 1339687] [NEW] debootstrap crashes without reason

2014-07-09 Thread Hoang Xuan Phu
Public bug reported:

I'm using python-vm-builder and ubuntu-vm-builder built from vm-builder
/precise-proposed on a precise host. Running vmbuilder works as expected
until it prints the output:

 2014-07-09 10:50:57,448 DEBUG   : I: Base system installed
successfully.

After that nothing happens, the thing just hangs there. Checking with ps
I see a defunct debootstrap process, but I suppose at that point
debootstrap has finished already.

The full out put with --verbose and --debug is here http://pastebin.com/EN5HkAEU
Please let me know what information I can provide to help troubleshooting.

[Bug 1339781] [NEW] centos 7 needs setpcap capability

2014-07-09 Thread Chaskiel Grundman
Public bug reported:

creating a centos 7 container mostly worked using the template, but when
it was launched, it was really slow to run through most of the sysinit
tasks, and neither systemd-journald nor systemd-logind could start. The
error was something like Error at step CAPABILITIES. I found things
like

CapabilityBoundingSet=CAP_SYS_ADMIN CAP_AUDIT_CONTROL CAP_CHOWN CAP_KILL
CAP_DAC_READ_SEARCH CAP_DAC_OVERRIDE CAP_FOWNER CAP_SYS_TTY_CONFIG

in fedora's service files, and tried not dropping SETPCAP in
centos.common.conf. That allowed the container to boot with no further
issues. (the lack of SETFCAP may cause problems with updates down the
line, I don't know yet)

[Bug 1286209] Re: unhandled trace if no namespaces in metering agent

2014-07-09 Thread George Shuklin
I still see than bug and definitively can reproduce it.

If router is placed on other network node, metering agent fail, because
it expecting to see network namespace for that router on own network
node.

There is no filtering 'our' router or 'not our'.

It will works on single-node installation, but fails on multi-node.

[Bug 1339842] [NEW] GlanceMirror item filters are hardcoded

2014-07-09 Thread Mike McCracken
Public bug reported:

The GlanceMirror class has a hard-coded filter for items to be
downloaded.

Anyone using it directly or via the script in
tools/sstream-mirror-glance to load images into an openstack cloud
will end up with a large number of images, at least one for each of
the available release series, and only x86_64 or amd64.

It is likely that users will want to be able to limit the images they
download to just one release, and may want to be able to download
images for other architectures, such as arm*.

The uploaded package simply exposes the existing filter mechanism as a
config option, using the previous hardcoded values as defaults.

This config option is used (currently it is just ignored by the
published simplestreams code) in an charm that is released on the
charm store for trusty, 'glance-simplestreams-sync'. Users of
OpenStack on Trusty are likely to want the option to control image
downloads via that charm.

[Test Case]

In an openstack cloud, with proper openstack env vars (OS_USERNAME,
OS_PASSWORD, OS_REGION etc), run the sstream-mirror-glance tool to
download images locally:

from the source tree top directory,

PYTHONPATH=. tools/sstream-mirror-glance --max=1 -v -v -v --output-dir \
images/ --cloud-name test_cloud --content-id test_content \
--keyring /usr/share/keyrings/ubuntu-cloudimage-keyring.gpg \
http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/releases/ streams/v1/index.json

verify that it downloads many images. This may take a while. If you
like, you can just check that it will download an image for an old
series like raring or quantal.

Clean up after it by removing the images/ directory.

Then with the update applied, from the source tree top dir:

PYTHONPATH=. tools/sstream-mirror-glance --max=1 -v -v -v --output-dir \
images/ --cloud-name test_cloud --content-id test_content \
--keyring /usr/share/keyrings/ubuntu-cloudimage-keyring.gpg \
--item-filter=release=trusty --item-filter=arch=arm64 \
http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/releases/ streams/v1/index.json

and verify that it downloads only one matching image, trusty on arm64.

[Regression Potential]

This has very limited regression potential, because anyone relying on
the existing behavior will still get it because the previous behavior
is retained via defaults.

[Bug 1339518] [NEW] sudo config file specifies group admin that doesn't exist in system

2014-07-09 Thread Jonas Björk
Public bug reported:

In the configuration file for sudo ( /etc/sudoers ) you find this section:

# Members of the admin group may gain root privileges
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALL

# Allow members of group sudo to execute any command
%sudo   ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

The sudo group is in /etc/group, but not admin group. This is a cosmetic
bug, but if we specify a group that are allowed to use sudo command,
then the group should exist in the system too.

ibutils (1.5.7-2) experimental; urgency=medium

  * Fix FTBFS after upgrade tcl/tk-dev to version 8.6:
- Add versioned depends on  tcl-dev (= 8.6.0+6) and tk-dev (= 8.6.0+6).
- Add build depend on dpkg-dev (= 1.16.0).
- Update debian/rules to find multiarch tk-lib.
Thanks to Sergei Golovan. (Closes: #724998)
  * Patch as RedHat and use /var/cache/ibutils for the output of the

[Bug 1339506] Re: In Utopic importing Gdk requires $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR or $DISPLAY

2014-07-09 Thread Martin Pitt
It's not a segfault, it's a g_error() and thus a SIGABRT. This happens
in gdk_display_manager_open_display(): It iterates over all available
backends, and as there is no $DISPLAY the X.org backend fails. Then it
tries the wayland backend but there is no $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR either so it
fails as well.

The obvious workaround here is to either run the thing under Xvfb to
provide a $DISPLAY, or set $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR to some $(CURDIR)/debian/tmp
during package build. But of course in the latter case Gdk won't
actually do anything. So if you import Gdk to use it, I'd rather
recommend xvfb.

So for GDK this is pretty much a wontfix. If we keep this open, then
against pygobject, as its Gdk overrides trigger the initialization of
GTK/GDK on import. This is mostly due to being backwards compatible with
PyGTK, and all Python code out there which uses Gtk/Gdk expects this,
and doesn't call Gdk.init()/Gtk.init() explicitly. So the wishlist bug
would be to not try and initialize Gdk if there's no DISPLAY or runtime
dir, but that's really not something which we want to carry downstream.

Thanks
Lars

[Bug 494067]

2014-07-09 Thread grantk
This issue -- of improving KDE + Firefox integration, generally, and of
getting Firefox to use Dolphin, specifically -- has languished for a
long time.

It has, after all, been percolating, unresolved, for ~ 12 yrs now.

Atm, it's basically dead inactive. I'm hoping that that can be
reversed.

If you are still interested in good/solid KDE+Firefox integration,
read-on --

IMO, not getting to a decent solution has not been for lack of
trying/interest:

Bug 140751 - Integrate Mozilla with KDE
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140751

Bug 528598 - provide a class to check for KDE environment and to
interface with kmozillahelper
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=528598

Provide better Firefox KDE integration
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/494067

Bug 528510 - [Tracking] Port OpenSUSE KDE Integration for Firefox
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=528510

Firefox on KDE

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.dev.platforms.linux/XKyWG8NwSeA

(I'm sure there are more ...)

As of this date, there's still no solution that works consistently well.
Opensuse's patches are the closest to it (cref packages:
kmozillahelper, mozilla-kde4-integration),  have been
intermittently available/functional in Opensuse, as well as ported to
Ubuntu, Arch, others.

But, even the Opensuse devs say they're not happy with their own,
'hacky' solution.

And, unless I've missed it, the right people simply aren't talking to
one another.

A good solution will need devs -- at least one each -- from KDE,
Mozilla/Firefox Opensuse/other distro devs, to agree that this should
get done, and actually talk/work with one another to do so.

I've tried to re-start the discussion about getting a good solution to
KDE+Firefox integration.

https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/firefox-
dev/2014-July/001940.html

In that thread I received thoughtful/arguable comments from @Mozilla
folks, e.g.

...
I believe that there is plenty of good will among
Mozilla developers to help Firefox + Dolphin along the road (starting
with reviewing patches and mentoring newcomers).
...
firefox-dev and bugs are as good a place as any to start.
...

They certainly seem willing to work with KDE others -- but it will NOT
happen alone.

So, if you are still interested in good/solid KDE+Firefox integration
-- pls start by subscribing to firexfox-dev mailing list

https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/firefox-dev

and consolidating communication to THIS thread:

Firefox + KDE integration: Getting FF to use Dolphin reliably. 12+
years and counting.
 https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/firefox-dev/2014-July/001940.html

'Everybody' talking about the issue in one place wouldn't, imo, be a bad
1st step.

[Bug 431975] Re: downloading a torrent to an encrypted home partition hangs and uses 100% CPU

2014-07-09 Thread Nelson Castillo
Part of the issue (why it takes so long) is that ecryptfs does not
support sparse files. So an operation that is fast in an unencrypted fs
is slow with ecryptfs.

$ time truncate -s 2000M file.img # ecryptfs

real 0m26.239s
user 0m0.001s
sys 0m22.984s

$ time truncate -s 2000M file.img # unencrypted

real 0m0.019s
user 0m0.001s
sys 0m0.002s

I can kill the truncate process if I wish to. I wonder what makes the
process unkillable in the scenario of this bug.

The unkillable issue also happens with qemu-img.

[Bug 1323822] Re: Firefox can not play some WebM videos generated by avconv on Trusty

2014-07-09 Thread Erlenmayr
Dudes this is obviously an avconv bug, not a Firefox bug. New avconv and
ffmpeg work. You cannot fix Firefox to play corrupt video files, only
because VLC is tolerant. avconv should create clean and valid files,
such that we know that they work on all WebM players including mobile
devices.

[Bug 1332306] Re: Hot-swapped SIMs should be detected and prompt user to reboot

2014-07-09 Thread Martti Piirainen
This needs to be fixed in oFono, too. oFono currently doesn't signal SIM
removal to its clients (it should do so via property
org.ofono.SimManager.Present).

In bug 1329926, I wrote currently, there are no proper
UNSOL_RESPONSE_SIM_STATUS_CHANGED events coming out of the RIL API but
that's not entirely correct. In mako hardware, SIM card removal is
correctly signalled by RIL to oFono.

SIM card insertion is not signalled by RIL (for reference, also not with
Android SW), so we have no way of recognizing that. This might behave
differently on other HW than mako.

[Bug 1321602] Re: chromium browser chews 100% CPU in epoll_wait()

2014-07-09 Thread James Hunt
Interestingly, the problem is also seen if chromium is restarted and one
of the tabs is http://translate.google.com - closing that tab resolves
the cpu usage issue, and subsequently opening a new tab and going to
http://translate.google.com does *not* manifest the problem.

[Bug 1317263] Re: mtp-server crash when transferring music on #15

2014-07-09 Thread Peter Hultqvist
Broken for me on #119, flo, when I transfer from Ubuntu 14.04 using
nautilus.

Every time at 2.1 GB I get the following message in the mtp-server.log

MtpServer.cpp:439] got unsupported command UNKNOWN

Nautilus says nothing, it stays pending at 2.1 GB

After this I need to reconnect the cable to get MTP working again.

[Bug 1093393] Re: Whenever I tried to save my work, Inkscape crashes

2014-07-09 Thread Fahad
@jazzynico Now i am using netrunner 13.10 (based on kubuntu 13.10) and
Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939. I don't face this problem anymore.

What I suspect the cause of this problem is that I was using a new
version of gime 2.8 and I installed a new version of libpoppler which
differs form the official version that comes with 0.48.3.1. I don't
remember well but when I downgraded libpoppler the problem was fixed.

[Bug 1339594] [NEW] usermod don't update the ACL in /media, when a uid has changed

2014-07-09 Thread J N
Public bug reported:

usermod don't update the ACL when the uid of a user have been change.

This bug happens when I has changed the uid of my login.
All permitions have been change correctly.
But when I plug a USB key, it was impossible to read the key.
But when I check the permition, everything seems fine.
But when I check the ACL with getfacl, the permition is written with the old
uid of my login

This is the command line :

$ id onelogin
uid=1000(onelogin)  .etc.

$ sudo usermod -u  onelogin
$  id onelogin
uid=(onelogin)  .etc.

$ ls -l  /media/onelogin
drwx--  6 onelogin onelogin  4096 janv.  1  1970 MY_USB_KEY

$ getfacl  /media/onelogin
# file: media/onelogin/
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rwx
user:1000:r-x
group::---
mask::r-x
other::---

To correct it, I use this:

$  sudo setfacl -m user:onelogin:rx /media/onelogin/
$  sudo setfacl -x user:1000 /media/onelogin/
$  getfacl  /media/onelogin
# file: media/onelogin/
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rwx
user:onelogin:r-x
group::---
mask::r-x
other::---

But pearhap there are some other place where I need to update manually the ACL
permition.

[Bug 1293384] Re: Compiz CPU usage dramatically increased in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-07-09 Thread Renne
I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Si
2636 notebook. Just in this moment Compiz eats up 150% of CPU (Core 2
DUO) with only one Firefox window and tab opened. I can only type one
char per second. Scrolling down a website needs up to ONE minute. The
Battery runtime has dropped from 3.5 hours to 1.5 hours. If this keeps
going on I have to wipe Ubuntu 14.04 from my disk ...
