[Bug 1349193] [NEW] package mysql-server-5.5 5.5.38-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Public bug reported: I had mysql 5.5 installed and working fine, then I received a notice that I did not understand about my system no longer being fully supported and asking me to update. This caused a kernal file update which failed. Since than I have not been able to get my mysql server to start. The bug is that I cannot do anything with the emulator. It shows me the message No data sources available. I think during installation files have not landed in the right place, but I do not know why. [Bug 1346766] Re: Chinese in Ubuntu Touch should use Heiti style sans serif font
** Description changed: Ubuntu Touch uses Kaiti style font as the main UI font for displaying Chinese, which is not optimal as nowadays operating systems all use Heiti style font for the UI, we should really change it asap. Currently there are two choices on Ubuntu, fonts-droid and wqy-microhei. Below I will list out the pros and cons. wqy-microhei (DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf, modified): - Pros: - The advantage of wqy-microhei being its wider codepoint coverage, for example it also contains Japanese Kanas and Korean Hanguls in one font. The downside is it may be of lower quality than the original DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf due to its lack of maintenance in recent years. - Cons: - I am not too much in favour of using wqy-microhei, the reason being that it is basically a font that based on the Droid font (DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf to be exact). - Upstream has not updated wqy-microhei for long time, so it lacks any new updates from the Droid font, although it may not be obvious to users. - Another possible disadvantage of wqy-microhei is it includes more latin characters, which may result to inconsistent glyphs being used. fonts-droid (DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf, original): - Pros: - The advantage is it has coverage of CJK ext. A [1], which wqy-microhei does not provide. -Cons: - On the other hand, wqy-microhei has added some glyphs that the droid font does not provide, I don't have the exact number of that but I believe it's just a small number. - The disadvantage is it does not include Korean Hangul, which can be remedied with another Korean font, and it's not our current concern anyway. As an additional alternative, just a few days ago, Google released the Noto Sans CJK fonts [2][3]: fonts-noto (Noto Sans CJK fonts): - Pros: - - It takes care of different writing standard of Traditional and Simplified Chinese + - It takes care of different writing standards of Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean, which makes everyone happy (see slide 13-14 of [3]) - It covers Japanese and Korean as well - Cons: - Needs to be tested - Bigger size than the other alternatives as a result of catering for both Traditional and Simplified Chinese - Not yet packaged [4] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJK_Unified_Ideographs_Extension_A [2] http://googledevelopers.blogspot.de/2014/07/noto-cjk-font-that-is-complete.html [3] https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1xIBCsqwrSxowmLQS7kJm9gM58-FmOIYlZWoRlgqtqE4/edit#slide=id.g36327fada_643 [4] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=754926 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1346766 Title: Chinese in Ubuntu Touch should use Heiti style sans serif font To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-touch-meta/+bug/1346766/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1220146] Re: Need support for new Ralink Wifi card - Mediatek 7630 [14c3:7630]
Thank you all, now I've got it working Expecially thanks to #125 procedure... By the way, for my ASUS F550C it wasn't enough: iwconfig had wlan0 in the list, lshw -c network said DISABLED, ifconfig wlan0 up gave me an rfkill issue, rfkill unblock all/wifi didn't help becuse situation of rfkill list was and kept being phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes and such asus wireless stuff totally unblocked tried even rm /dev/rfkill didn't work (I hope I won't regret for this removing), but I finally found on http://forum.ubuntu- fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1429631 the solution for me. with terminal, create a file (or edit if already exists) sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/asus.conf and adding/correcting the line options asus_nb_wmi wapf=4 that forces the wireless activation (my hardware switch was keyboard dependent, Fn+F2). Now I've got Wireless active, although led is not working properly (but, sincerely, i don't care). Hope that could help some one Lino -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220146 Title: Need support for new Ralink Wifi card - Mediatek 7630 [14c3:7630] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1220146/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1234541] Re: 1814:3290 Ralink corp. RT3290 Bluetooth not toggling on
The Linux bug reporting process is probably obvious for those who use it often but it is confusing for someone like me who uses it rarely. I do not understand why you say linux (Ubuntu) bug triaging is completely different then upstream, or userspace, and has nothing to do with how related one bug seems to another one. As far as I can see no action (such as triaging) has been taken on http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg43371.html so I wonder if I have just wasted my time by raising it. If there was a comment on it to say something like this is low priority - sorry no one is likely to look at it soon I would accept that. I understand Ubuntu is very popular but I cannot see non-technical people taking the time to raise bugs in this way to help improve Ubuntu - they will just buy an iphone or ipad from Apple for simplicity and forget about Linux. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1234541 Title: 1814:3290 Ralink corp. Same issue: The WD Passport Ultra harddrive works without problems on a USB 2.0 port, yet when connected to an USB 3.0 port, dmesg shows the following error: [ 887.802679] usb 4-1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [ 887.819755] scsi10 : usb-storage 4-1:1.0 [ 888.815996] scsi 10:0:0:0: Direct-Access WD My Passport 0820 1007 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6 [ 888.816292] scsi 10:0:0:1: Enclosure WD SES Device 1007 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6 [ 888.817656] sd 10:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 [ 888.817888] ses 10:0:0:1: Attached Enclosure device [ 888.817994] ses 10:0:0:1: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 13 [ 919.523155] usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [ 919.536526] xhci_hcd :05:00.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep 880306f35e00 [ 919.536531] xhci_hcd :05:00.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep 880306f35e40 uname -a Linux jb-desktop 3.2.0-67-generic #101-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 15 17:46:11 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux lsusb -vvv [...] Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1058:0820 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. If you reply to an imported comment from within Launchpad, your comment will be sent to the remote bug automatically. On 2012-05-22T08:08:49+00:00 Fritz-paul wrote: Whenever an Impress presentation with activated header/footer fields (Daten and time, Footer, and Slide number) is stored, these default fields are duplicated. This also happened for me to the object area for Auto Layouts in the slide master. The effect can be seen with a blank presentation with the fields activated. It is possible to remove the header/footer fields from the slide master and use own fields instead. But those can't be modified via the default menu points and they must be changed for each master slide. The bug is rather annoying because apart from that, the flat odx formats help with many small issues in conjunction with Subversion repositories. [Bug 1349056] Re: xfce4-power-manager doesn't suspend on lid closed (regression)
Hi flux242, With that bugfix, we had found a conflict with logind also trying to handle suspending on lid close, creating a race condition for xfce4 -power-manager and light-locker. We introduced a new setting, logind- handle-lid-switch, which (dis)allows logind handling that event. If you set this property to false, it should be equivalent to your workaround (we also have to do the same for light-locker). [Bug 1348422] Re: system frozen after resume from hibernation. Had to power off
I think you missed this part: Now please don't tell me to install a bios update until there's a decent way to install it seamlessly from Ubuntu itself, without relying on freedos, flashrom, creating a windows repair disk and whatnot. If you expect bug victims -pardon- users to install bios updates in order to help you fix bugs, you should provide an easier way to install them. Also, unless you have a strong reason to think that the issue is *caused* (*caused*, not just triggered) by a bug in the bios that has been fixed in the update (which I doubt), then testing it against the bios update should not be a requirement to investigate and fix the issue in Ubuntu. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1348422 Title: system frozen after resume from hibernation.
