[Bug 1388294] Re: [MIR] geoclue-2.0
Michael, geoclue-2.0 dropped support for plugins and custom providers I believe. So the only options here would be to patch geocode-glib to talk to ubuntu geoip servers or modify the ubuntu servers to be compatible with the format used by the GNOME servers which use the server provided by geocode-glib. libunity-webapps doesnt look to be a problem, apart from depending on ubuntu-geoip that would be trivial to port. qtlocation doesn't appear to have been ported upstream, but doesnt look like there would be any fundamental issue to do so. looks like tests were removed at some stage, atleast I can't find any sign of any in the source code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388294 Title: [MIR] geoclue-2.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/geoclue-2.0/+bug/1388294/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1389048] [NEW] html-helper-mode overwrites 'css-mode-hook'
Public bug reported: Binary package: html-helper-mode Distribution: 14.04 Trusty I'm using emacs24 and edit html and css files using 'html-helper-mode' and 'css-mode', respectively. I customize 'css-mode' by adding some codes to 'css-mode-hook'. This works well when I open a css file solely in emacs, but the customized options for 'css-mode' are wiped out when I open a html file first and then a css file. I find that 'css-mode-hook' is overwrited when 'html-helper-mode' is launched. The 2425th--2430th lines of 'html-helper-mode.el' set up 'css- mode-hook'. I think these lines should be modified as below: (condition-case nil (cond - ((or (boundp css-mode-hook) css-mode-hook) + ((or (boundp 'css-mode-hook) css-mode-hook) (add-hook 'css-mode-hook 'html-script-release-setup)) (t (setq css-mode-hook 'html-script-release-setup))) (error (setq css-mode-hook 'html-script-release-setup))) After the modification above, 'css-mode-hook' works well so far. ** Affects: html-helper-mode (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: html-helper-mode-overwrite-css-mode-hook.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389048/+attachment/4252467/+files/html-helper-mode-overwrite-css-mode-hook.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389048 Title: html-helper-mode overwrites 'css-mode-hook' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/html-helper-mode/+bug/1389048/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1290150] Re: Default applications for LXSession: changing default browser not working
I had both firefox and chromium already installed before installing lubuntu-desktop. After installing lubuntu-desktop (which is coming along nicely by the way), chromium was the default browser by using the icon next to the start menu. I tried changing this to firefox, and the preference shows that firefox is saved as my default browser. However, each time I click the web- browser launch it still launches chromium. As a work-around, I saved a firefox launcher to my desktop, and then tried to drag and drop it to the quick-launch bar, but apparently dragging and dropping to the quick-launch bar isn't supported. I like how lean lxde runs. Use to, the reason I wouldn't use LXDE was mainly due to it not having easy setup for multiple monitors (use to, if you did set this up, the setting would not persist to the next login -- now it does so that great). I'll use lxde as my go to desktop as soon as I find a vertical launcher bar that acts like Unity's on multiple monitors and workspaces. Wow lxde is fast and lean! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1290150 Title: Default applications for LXSession: changing default browser not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1290150/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1387219] Re: Mouse pointer disappears and cursor stops blinking
It is possible that package libgtk-3-0 (3.12.2-0ubuntu15) is the culprit... I suggest this because there is a bug where fonts become blury in text views, whenever scrollbars are displayed. See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=715008 or see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1309785. The Bugzilla bug #715008 was fixed in version 3.14 of libgtk-3-0, but Utopic (14.10) is only using version 3.12.2 of libgtk-3-0. Perhpas this current bug is also related to the way GTK+3 (libgtk-3-0) handles text views in general? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #715008 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=715008 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387219 Title: Mouse pointer disappears and cursor stops blinking To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1387219/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1389077] [NEW] Intel Powerclamp is Slowing CPU
Public bug reported: I upgraded from KUbuntu 14.04 to 14.10. Immediately, while playing minecraft with my daughter, I noticed the game was running very slowly. Even after closing the game, my web browsing slowed to a crawl. Looking at the processes in top, I noticed there were 4 tasks called kidle_inject running at 50% CPU each. After spending a long time figuring out what caused this, I found out this is caused by the Intel Powerclamp driver. I never did anything to enable this, and haven't observed this slowdown before the upgrade. I found the powerclamp driver in the /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device5 directory: root@bkat-HP-ProBook-4530s:/sys/class/thermal/cooling_device5# cat type intel_powerclamp root@bkat-HP-ProBook-4530s:/sys/class/thermal/cooling_device5# cat cur_state -1 root@bkat-HP-ProBook-4530s:/sys/class/thermal/cooling_device5# cat max_state 50 I tried to echo 0 to cur_state, but it still reported -1 when I catted the value. There seems to be no obvious way to disable this, and this should not have been enabled in the first place. [Bug 1389081] [NEW] Manual partitioning shows Debian dialog about formatting partition mounted as root and swap
Public bug reported: Release 14.10; Ubiquity 2.20.0 Using manual partitioning on an Asus X201E (efi), I mounted a pre- existing partition to be formatted as root. After clicking Install Now, I got the warning dialog that is typical when installing Debian that both the / partition and the swap partition would be reformatted and all data destroyed. Since this is not normal in the Ubuntu installation and I have several other distros installed, I told it not to use the swap partition. This was followed by the usual Debian warning about lack of swap with an offer to return to the partitioner. I continued without swap. Installation media was a usb drive that I reformatted before burning the image. I had previously used the same usb media to install to an Asus X401 (efi). This installation had proceeded normally for Ubuntu. After mounting a partition as root, I did not receive a dialog, and swap on the other distros was fine after installation. I re-ran both installations in order to make sure it was reproducible. The same thing happened: a normal Ubuntu experience on the X401, but the Debian warning dialogs on the X201E. This time I had learned a little more about how swap is handled during the install, so I clicked Continue in the warning dialog. The installation was normal other than seeing the dialog: swap was formatted but had the original UUID restored. But I'm not sure why the same Ubuntu installation media would produce the Debian warning dialogs at all and only a particular machine. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389081 Title: Manual partitioning shows Debian dialog about formatting partition mounted as root and swap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1389081/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1386077] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9333] Touchpad not detected on Ubuntu 14.10
Same here. I have an xps 13 running ubuntu 14.10. When I upgraded from 12.04 (as installed by dell) into 14.04, I had to blacklist i2c_hid. After upgrading to 14.10, i needed to remove the blacklisting, as others reported. Here is the interesting thing: I needed to blacklist two different i2c modules (but see my first note below). me@myxps:~$ grep i2c /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf # blacklist i2c_hid # blacklist i2c_i801 A few notes: * when dealing kernel settings in laptops, I find that it's often the case that it's better to shut down and power cycle, instead of restarting. It seems like the BIOS doesn't quite get the hardware reset on a restart. * Joseph: when testing upstream, what's the expected/desired behavior? It seems like 14.10 is already working ok for most users. It seems to me that the blacklisting was a workaround in 14.04, not needed anymore. Or are you asking those who still have issues after de-blacklisting i2c_hic ? To those folks, I suggest trying a full shutdown and remove the power chord, and perhaps also removing the blacklist for i2c_i801 and see if that helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1386077 Title: [Dell XPS 13 9333] Touchpad not detected on Ubuntu 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1386077/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is a Confirmed bug, but it has not been assigned, so I don't think a solution is in sight, yet. Gedit is such a critical application for me, I had to reinstall Ubuntu 14.04. As a result, I can't test if upstream GTK+3 v 4.14 solves the problem, or if this is an incorrect hunch on my part. [Bug 1302885] Re: Media keyboard shortcuts not working
Is there something special you need to do after these solutions. Because I did the gsettings thing to no avail. I tried the gnome3 thing and again, nothing changed. Do I need to logout and back in? Do I need to reboot? A while ago something got flaky with X so I decided I should logout and back in. But I couldn't log back in so I had to reboot. When I finally got back in their were no sound icon, media keys didn't work. No notifications menu. Emerald wouldn't start, etc. etc. I finally got back up relatively normal but I can't get this media keys to work and I'm quite used to them. I'm afraid to even logout and back in let along reboot because who knows what kinda state I'm gonna come up in! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1302885 Title: Media keyboard shortcuts not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1302885/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1325166] Re: Cannot create proxy clip
In the failed to create proxy clip there is a show log button. What happens when you click it? Or is the problem that nothing happens and no error message appears? If the message tells you Unrecognized option 'deinterlace'. you have found Bug #1389093. If it complains you have no MP3 support you will have to install every package beginning with libav and ending with -extra instead. In this case the bug report could be changed into a feature request that automagically offers to install the right packages or requests the user to do so. But I have no idea how this might be archived: The background in this case is that decoding MP3 files might be encumbered by patents in some countries. Is this explanation consistent with not being able to right click for a menu? If so, then the bug can be closed for me. right click is handled by xfdesktop, but the behaviour is consistent with a broken session (being able to rerun xfce4-panel shows that the WM and the keyboard shortcuts where working). What I would suggest then would be to: 1) Check the content of the latest xfce4-session* file from ~/.cache/sessions 2) In doubt, remove the files completely, that will restore the defaults. Make sure you do this while xfce4-session is not running (ie do this from the console or from a remote connexion). Sorry if the grammar is bad. Hi, I write because I have a strange problem in my Xubuntu. Everything worked wonders, until I changed a simple configuration that changes the look when one is entering its user. In applications, I went to the configuration settings-manager, I entered a boot image and choose a (Balou) (since before he had another, and then had disabled the option of animation). Then, when you restart your system and then put username and password, I could see that he was entering the desktop, but at the stage starting desktop manager was branded the computer and is seen to be the hard drive does not stop working (for the LED the front panel of the computer). Retry to enter my user restarting the graphical environment (which took longer that the computer was being ticked) and rebooting the computer, but there is no case, the problem remains. So I decided from the Welcome screen to enter safe mode, but the console does not appear to know what to do. So the solution to the problem. I explain a bit: In the path \ home \ French \. Config \ xfce4-session (where French should be replaced by the user name) is the file xfce4-session.rc, which contains the settings on some features for example the splash screen, the feature that gave me problems when trying to enter my user. Without splash screen file looks like: [Splash Screen] Engine = [General] SessionName = Default SaveOnExit = false Despite the fact that I had no problems activating other Splashs, when activated by the Balou, to re-enter my user, the computer stopped responding: [Splash Screen] Engine = Balou [General] SessionName = Default SaveOnExit = false The solution: to simplify and not have to use the console much, I rebooted with a live cd of ubuntu, I remembered that in gnome to break into root must write in console sudo nautilus I modified the file and said, removing Balou of the line Engine. In addition, the doubts removed by an associated file that must have been created to set an image logon. This file is in the same folder and is called xfce4-splash.rc. Then I rebooted, I entered my username and everything to normal! All that we got compared to another user on my computer files. Config. With respect to that splash ¿defective?, I find it very strange because with the others I had no problem, and the installation of Xubuntu was successful and has all the patches for correction of errors. I would appreciate very much if I replied. and I will be happy if my report is beneficial to the community.
