[Bug 1402137] Re: nginx-full

2014-12-13 Thread Thomas Ward
It sounds to me like your repositories aren't fully updated - can you
run an 'apt-get update' and try again? I've just checked the
repositories, and all the NGINX packages in Trusty are -3ubuntu1 if you
have -updates and/or -security enabled.

I’ve tried both 192.168.1.X and 127.0.0.1, and in both cases the
missing http://; gets prepended, as expected.

fine (with hotkeys and in settings). However, the brightness level is
not saved when restaring computer so next time computer starts the

[Bug 1400470] Re: cannot download photos using shotwell via usb

2014-12-13 Thread kenden
Confirmed, this happens with my phone (Nexus 5) on Ubuntu 14.04 / Mint
17.1. Shotwell 0.18.0

Workaround, from:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+question/157569

Shotwell is supposed to popup a dialog asking you to unmount, however there
are cases where this doesn't work.
You may have to unmount the camera in Nautilus before starting Shotwell.

Unmounting in Nautilus before starting Shotwell works for me.

far, after putting extra ordinary graphics/processor/RAM stress for

[Bug 245206] Re: Presentation mode displays only one page and not two (in two page mode)

2014-12-13 Thread jpka
Yes, this is working, thank you. But we can be even more happy, when
Presentation also will work in predictable/intuitive manner (not ignore
user settings, like Fullscreen mode does). That will conforms to Look
And Feel.

2014-12-13 Thread Roman
Will this be sent back to the 14.04 release? It should still be
compatible with the Xfce version, and is a major bugfix.

[Bug 1332901] Re: gigabit ethernet card on ASUS N550JK not working at all

2014-12-13 Thread Federico Sassi
Hi,
I've also a Asus N550JK with a
05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411
PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 0c)

With standard installation of Ubuntu 14.04.1 the ethernet card is NOT working.
Nevertheless I did try 3.16.7-031607-generic and 3.18.0-031800rc7-generic and
the network card IS WORKING.

Then some standard update to Ubuntu 14.04 stock kernel made it work too.

To summarize, now the card IS WORKING with stock ubuntu 14.04 kernels at least:
 3.13.0-40-generic
 3.13.0-43-generic

I think we may close this bug

[Bug 590140] Re: QtMultimedia module missing from python-qt4

2014-12-13 Thread Iacopo
I can import QtMultimedia from PyQt4 (/python 2) under Windows and Mac but not
Ubuntu, and from PyQt5 (/python 3) also under Ubuntu. So for me it seems a bug.
Anyway, what should be the fix to use it with PyQt4 (/python 2) on Ubuntu,
instead to make 'from PyQt4 import QtMultimedia'?
Thank You.

[Bug 1402164] [NEW] package linux-generic 3.13.0.43.50 failed to install/upgrade: Abhängigkeitsprobleme - verbleibt unkonfiguriert

2014-12-13 Thread Dirk Ziegemeyer
Public bug reported:

I choose to to have a separate partion for /boot with size of 239M at
installation of Ubuntu some years ago.

The problem is that this partition runs out of disk space regularly
because of new kernels installed there.

To solve this, I remove old kernel packages by hand.

I guess that this error is related to the missing space on the boot
partition.

[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2014-12-13 Thread Ross Gammon
Thanks for reporting this.

Just in case you are not aware, Gramps can work perfectly fine without
these two optional dependencies. If you do not need to work with the
metadata of media objects within Gramps, just place a tick in the
GExiv2 warning that pops up and the message will not appear the next
time you start Gramps. If you do not record the latitude and longitude
for each place you enter in Gramps, and don't use the Geography view to
see where each place is on a map, then you can do the same with the
OsmGpsMap message.

If you would like to work with media metadata within Gramps, just
install the gir1.2-gexiv2-0.10 package.

Unfortunately, if you would like to use the Geography View, it is not so easy.
I am working on backporting the required package from the Ubuntu Development
release (Vivid which will become 15.04):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/utopic-backports/+bug/1388215
If you can't wait, you could try installing the relevant gir1.2-osmgpsmap-1.0
*.deb from vivid proposed:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/osm-gps-map

Cheers,
Ross

[Bug 1401943] Re: Kernel upgrade to 3.16.0-28 causes boot hang on my system

2014-12-13 Thread Soren Mogensen
Hi Christopher, thanks for getting back to me.

I have updated the BIOS - the output from 'sudo dmidecode -s bios-version
sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date' is:
2104
08/13/2013

Apart from making it hard to get into the grub menu, the BIOS upgrade
didn't seem to change much - I still end up with a kernel panic for
kernel 3.16.0-28. HOWEVER, found that if I boot into 3.16.0-28 recovery
mode, and then resume normal boot, then this kernel panic does not occur
(however, graphics resolution is severely reduced).

Attached is a new screenshot of the text output during boot when hung
(this time after BIOS upgrade).

   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

[Bug 1397032] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad T540p] Intel Wireless Dual Band 7260AC fails to connect

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Federico Sassi, if your routers broadcast on both n and g, you could just
disable n on your laptop via setting the following in
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf :
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

Also, the latest mainline kernel to test with is
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.18-vivid/ .

** Description changed:

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T540p and the wireless connection isn't working
correctly. It will list the available networks but when trying to
connect it will keep asking for the password or when it connects the
connection will last only few seconds and the packet loss on a ping will
  be very high.

  I've followed bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1354975 in order
to find a solution but without luck. I've tried to turn off power management,
install latest kernel ( linux-image-3.17.0-031700-generic ) and related updated
firmware according to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi .
Tried also the updated firmware for the older kernel and with the older kernel.
I've tried also Ubuntu 14.10 with same results. I've tried to move closer to
the router but with no change at all.

[Bug 1401935] Re: Touchpad stops working after suspend

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
raggar, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from
the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are
irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly
shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 1402172] [NEW] kernel 3.16.0-28-generic breaks Radeon HD 6310

2014-12-13 Thread Maarten Fonville
Public bug reported:

When applying the updates on my Ubuntu Utopic installation I received the new
3.16.0-28 kernel.
The computer had no problems with the Utopic kernels before ( up to 3.16.0-26),
but now it suddenly won't give any output (via HDMI) when booting. I don't get
X, I don't get a splah and I can't switch with ctrl+alt+fX to one of the
terminals.

When booting with the older kernels or the latest (3.18.0) kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ no problem appears. I
also reinstalled the 3.16.0-28 kernel image and reran update-initramfs,
but the problem stays. So something explicitly in this kernel is
creating this issue.

Below I paste the relevant messages i found in the dmesg/syslog:

[Bug 1277641] Re: German keyboard layout loses tilde dead key

2014-12-13 Thread mariano
+1

German (legacy) brings back the dead key function for now, but I agree
with umehlig. A possible removal in the future should not happen, and
shunting the dead key function to the legacy keyboard layout is not a
nice solution.

[Bug 1401943] Re: Kernel upgrade to 3.16.0-28 causes boot hang on my system

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Soren Mogensen, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

[Bug 1401699] Re: Kernel upgrade to linux-image-3.16.0-28-generic breaks my external keyboard

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daniel Colascione, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-carbon-type-20a7-20a8?type=Laptops-and-netbooksc=1
an update to your BIOS is available (1.19). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

+ With linux-image-3.16.0-25-generic, everything works fine. With linux-
image-3.16.0-28-generic, if I boot with an external keyboard attached,
the keyboard generates keypress events only until I close my laptop lid.
After closing the lid, presses on the USB keyboard generate no events.
This state of affairs persists even after opening the laptop lid again.

- The problem appears to be in the kernel somewhere. Booting with the
- previous kernel using the GRUB menu option restores correct behavior.
- Switching to a non-X VT and using evtest indicates that no events are
- being delivered to userland. dmesg doesn't report any unusual messages
- across lid close and reopen.
