[Bug 1405404] [NEW] ntp vulnerabilities
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Network Time Protocol (NTP) Project NTP daemon (ntpd) contains multiple vulnerabilities The NTP Project ntpd version 4.2.7 and pervious versions allow attackers to overflow several buffers in a way that may allow malicious code to be executed. ntp-keygen prior to version 4.2.7p230 also uses a non-cryptographic random number generator when generating symmetric keys. These vulnerabilities affect ntpd acting as a server or client. [Bug 1355588] Re: Failed to initialize command buffer
hi martinx, i'm now mainly using Vivid i386 gnome-shell all the days long. So chromium 39 is the vivid package, and it still has 'sometimes' that irritating 'aie something happened' blue screen. As i can see, that happen while some image's format(s) are loaded by a page, but i can't tell which one(s). I might need to try viewing the 'crashed' page source to find some idea about the format to be blamed. [Bug 1405298] Re: [Dell M4800]: iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260
arty, happy holidays, and I'm glad a BIOS update worked out for you. It's a common phenomenon here on Launchpad that many folks have all sorts of wonky hardware problems (myself included), and could have saved themselves going through the hassle of filing a bug report, or time consuming testing, before checking to see if a simple BIOS update addresses their issue. However, as a BIOS update doesn't fit the criteria of the Fix Released Status as outlined in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status (as a release from Ubuntu didn't fix this issue) I'll go ahead and mark this Invalid. However, if the problem returns, please file a new report (not reopen this one). [Bug 1300308] Re: select items matching (ctrl+s) only selects one file
What I can add with this strange behaviour, that if I use pattern that should work for many files - it will always mark the same file. If I change extension of that file, and next try with the same pattern nautilus will select file 11_Uwierz_w_siebie.mp3. [Bug 730984] Re: Kubuntu - Mount SAMBA shares when Dolphin access them via CIFS
I think this is one of the few show stoppers for using KDE as desktop for the unexperienced user. Gnome handles SMB / ssh / ftp / ... so nicely and transparent for applications, while in KDE every single application has to support the protocol. For experienced users, the cifs-mount-workaround is not a problem, but for the avarage user, he just doesn't understand why it is such a problem to use VLC, libreoffice and even KDE applications such as Dragon Player (doesn't handle smb) with files on the network. [Bug 525161] Re: sometimes it's never print out any page and hangs on
Till Kamppeter, thanks for checking into this. I just wanted to add a few data points to this issue. In both Trusty and Vivid, printing to file (PS) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/525161/+attachment/4284552/+files/Grammar%204.djvu took a few seconds. However, in Vivid the conversion of this PS file to PDF via either Evince or ps2pdf took ~2 hours. In Vista, if one takes this resultant PDF from Vivid and prints to XPS via Adobe Reader X, that takes ~10 minutes. In Trusty, If one opens the resultant PDF in Evince and attempts to print to file (PDF) the preparing to print message took minutes to make 1 page of progress. However, it ultimately finished within 10 minutes. Overall, given the resultant PDF is so massive for a PDF (100MB+) it's not a shocker it's taking so long to permute through all these different printing methods. Hence, it may be helpful to finely scope this issue to either physical printer (and further to specific printer mfg.+model), or one conversation hop printing to file, e.g. ps to PDF, or how djvu to ps filesize goes from 6.5MB to ~62MB (if that's even a bug, as I'm not aware of the spec details). Scoping this report to printing to file allows a wider testing audience, saves on wasted printing paper, may more finely focus the issue to something more manageable for a developer, etc. However, I defer to your opinion on printing issues. [Bug 1405437] Re: [Dell Precision M4800] iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260
arty, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.19-rc1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Re: [Bug 1405207] Re: [Inspiron N5110, IDT 92HD87B1/3, Black Headphone Out, Right] No sound at all
Thanks for your support. You will have to hold my hand a bit, I don't know linux as a first or second language. here's what I can add to the troubleshooting... 1) just to be clear, there is no sound from headphones when plugged into the headphone jack. Sound continues to come out of built-in speakers. 2) I opened system Setting , then Sound. The only sound output device listed is built-in speakers, this does not change when I plug headphones in. 3) When I plug headphones into the MIC jack, it shows up as an output device Headphones, but headphones do not work either. At the same time, the headphones plugged into MIC show up as Microphone in the Input tab. [Bug 1405100] Re: Unity icon rightclick → Quit doesn't work
Sorry I'm the debian and ubuntu maintainer, I was experiencing this bug something like one year ago, I reported it upstream, and they fixed it. I tried again yesterday and it was reproducible. I thought it was a regression, Unfortunately I did test yesterday a bad version, and I can't reproduce again (I'm test building some developer version and backports with the new wxwidgets, bugs are normal there) So in the advanced view (also in the simple one) you have in the File menu something like close window that actually minimizes it, and an Exit that actually asks you if it should only exit the manager or also stop computing (the message goes away as soon as you click don't show again). Maybe unity is behaving differently, I use ubuntu with gnome. If you still reproduce it please try to do a screenshot or a video, or try gnome-shell, just to be sure it isn't a boinc bug (apt-get install gnome-shell and you can choose at the next login your favourite DM). ** Changed in: boinc (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405100 Title: Unity icon rightclick → Quit doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boinc/+bug/1405100/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
