[Bug 1335026] Re: [Dell OptiPlex 3011] Sometimes system won't be able to run suspend stress test
Oops, the kernel mentioned in comment #14 should be 3.19.0-rc2 Also, I tried to do multiple manual suspend on this system with 3.19.0-rc2, on the 7th cycle, the webcam dropped. /dev/video0 disappeared, and the webcam disappeared from lsusb output. [Bug 1407544] Re: anchors does not pop up for Ubuntu specific controls
I cannot reproduce this with QtC 3.1.1 with Qt 5.3.2 on Utopic. What I can tell is that QtC does not always autocomplete the stock Qt types either. The best example is the Qt singleton type, try to get Qt.inputMethod properties, it will never work. So to me this is more like QtC issue than Ubuntu specific. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1407544 Title: anchors does not pop up for Ubuntu specific controls To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu/+bug/1407544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1402957] Re: kernel panic on bootup exit code: 0x000000b0
Stanimir, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.19-rc2 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 90085] Re: When /tmp is mounted noexec, preconfigure fails
by invoking the executable with the help of the dynamic Linux loader. Although you are right, in real world vulnerability exploitation you often don't control much of the environment, sometimes even the way an executable gets executed. The reason most people mount tmp with noexec is that it is world writable. Thanks to that, even services with explicit reduced rights can leverage the file system when remotely exploiting a vulnerability. By using noexec (and nodev, nosuid...) you add security. You don't make it impossible to exploit, you make it more difficult. Why do you think ASLR, DEP and many other protection techniques are still very much in use, while they are constantly circumvented ? Difficulty of exploitation is one of the major points of risk management. With a bit of effort, you grow the resources needed to exploit a vulnerability, which in turn makes it less likely to be exploited. While comment #19 already stated a valid workaround for this bug, it would really be a good sign if security aware parties would join the discussion... even after 8 years. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/90085 Title: When /tmp is mounted noexec, preconfigure fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debconf/+bug/90085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1406767] Re: High ACPI event count on Asus K750L, causing ~12% non-stop CPU utilization
Hi Christopher, git bisect found the first good commit, here's the full output from the last command: bd9b2f9aff26c185c1f8e0cd08a850ee4ace391a is the first bad commit commit bd9b2f9aff26c185c1f8e0cd08a850ee4ace391a Author: Rafael J. Wysocki rafael.j.wyso...@intel.com Date: Mon Jul 14 22:41:41 2014 +0200 ACPI / scan: No implicit wake notification for buttons The ACPI device enumeration code in Linux assumes that buttons always are wakeup devices, so it calls acpi_setup_gpe_for_wake() for them which leads to undesirable side effects. Namely, that function sets up implicit device wake notification mechanism for a given GPE if there is no handler method in the ACPI namespace, which from the ACPICA's perspective means that there always is a way to handle that GPE if enabled. However, we don't handle wake notify events for buttons, so if there are no handler methods for their GPEs in the namespace, enabling a button GPE at run time leads to a GPE storm in some cases (the GPE triggers, ACPICA carries out the implicit wake notification for it which isn't handled, so the GPE triggers again and so on). To prevent that from happening use acpi_mark_gpe_for_wake() instead of acpi_setup_gpe_for_wake() for buttons which will cause ACPICA to only enable button GPEs if there are handler methods for the in the namespace. [Bug 1407385] Re: Sync latexila 3.14.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Hello, Thank you for this bug report! moved rubber from depends to suggested I agree that we should remove it. added texlive-latex-extra as suggested It's just a suggestion for those who wants to be sure that they have almost all LaTeX packages. I think it's better to keep it. Note that for TexMaker, latex-beamer and texlive-latex-extra are recommended. LyX recommends many texlive-latex packages ; Gummy recommends texlive-extra-utils, texlive-latex-base and texlive- xetex. Added some packages as suggested ones can help beginners I think. added texlive-latex-recommended, hicolor-icon-theme as recommended packages hicolor-icon-theme is just the default theme for the icons, most users should have it. I guess it's not a big deal if it is not added but it's maybe better to keep it. I think that before, texlive package didn't have a dependence to texlive-latex-recommended (maybe very old packages) but I see that by adding texlive, we also add texlive-latex-recommended. Note that on Ubuntu, LaTeXMk is a mandatory dependence, not just recommended. Of course, LaTeXila can work without LaTeXMk but without it, the user will have errors because LaTeXMk is the default builder. But I agree that most users will install recommended packages. I think gsettings-desktop-schemas package is also needed because LaTeXila is compiled with gsettings-desktop-schemas-dev and the settings for the fonts, etc. are defined by xml files provided by this gsettings-desktop-schemas package. @Sébastien: may you confirm? Do you agree with that? :-) @Jackson: Yes, I think we can sync latexila 3.14.2-1 from Debian unstable.
