How can I keep this unresolved problem open? I have had this problem

workaround.

[Bug 1429475] Re: Kubuntu Vivid 1 Beta 15.04 installation: Slideshow is missing german translation

2015-03-08 Thread Skyman
It is not only the string on the bottom, it is the whole side(s of the
 slideshow).
Oh, you're right. I only saw the big bold text at first. Is this also the
case for the other slideshow pages?
AFAIR this also applies for the following slides.

How can I see the translations for previous versions? Maybe I can help by
 translating ...
If you click on translations on the top of the page you will see the various
Ubuntu releases with translation templates in all languages for that
 particular package. For instance
 https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu.
When starting out, you'll be able to add suggestions for translations which
a member of one of the translation teams will the review (and hopefully
 approve).
I added translation for two untranslated strings. But the rest seems to be
translated. But maybe I'm looking at the wrong place.

[Bug 1429627] [NEW] When ibus-pinyin is activated, selecting text in firefox deletes text

2015-03-08 Thread Rongcui Dong
Public bug reported:

I have tested some other GTK programs, only a combination of Firefox and
ibus-pinyin causes this problem. I am on Ubuntu 14.10, and this bug is
always reproducible. I think both ibus and firefox has upgraded for
several times, but the problem persists. Before I upgrade to 14.10, I
did not encounter this problem in 14.04. I upgraded long before using
the update manager.

[Bug 1303411] Re: Steam not installing? 14.04

2015-03-08 Thread Dora
That's right - if you install from the software center in Ubuntu 14.04,
it hangs and you get a failed to install error, but if you download the
deb package from the Steam web site and install it in Terminal it works
just fine. To be on the safe side I installed two 32 bit libraries I
found on another discussion - ia32-libs and libcurl:i386; that wouldn't
be an issue in 64 bit linux.

My guess is them idiots at Synaptic or whoever haven't updated the
software center or the packages; I've run into that all over the place.

I was not able to reproduce this issue when I tested on an up-to-date Vivid

[Bug 384156] Re: udffsck is missing

2015-03-08 Thread dreamcat4
The most logical thing to do would be port the OpenSolaris source code
to linux. It is available here:

http://src.illumos.org/source/xref/illumos-
gate/usr/src/cmd/fs.d/udfs/fsck/

AFAICT it is pretty self-contained. This should really be made a
priority first of all.

2nd priority after that, improve write support of UDF v2.60 to match the
other operating systems (Windows and Mac OS X).

Not sure who is going to do it, if the 'upstream project' is inactive.
But really this can be done independently. Perhaps there is motivation
enough from community contributions. As there are many people who want /
need this.

I'm using Ubuntu 15.04 dev with lxsession 0.5.1-1ubuntu1 and if I'm not

[Bug 1423326] Re: lxsession should depend on lxsession-logout

2015-03-08 Thread Dave Kokandy
This is a valid bug.

trusty and utopic are not affected, as both have lxsession packages that
depend on lxsession-logout.

I believe the importance should be set to low, as installing LXDE on
vanilla Ubuntu instead of installing Lubuntu or lubuntu-desktop will
probably not be an action taken by most users.

Can you confirm if installing lxsession-logout fixes this bug? sudo
apt-get install lxsession-logout

Perhaps additional testing should be done, as there are several other
packages that were dependencies of previous lxsession packages that are
no longer dependencies:

output of apt-cache depends lxsession (Utopic vs Vivid):

2015-03-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, thanks. I misunderstood you then.

Can you say with certain confidence that the kernel/graphics driver
crash (that's what it seems to be) only happens with systemd, but not
with upstart? Perhaps there's some difference in how we shut down
X.org/lightdm under either. Can you reliably switch users or just
start/stop your session under upstart and systemd? (The latter is the
part that causes graphics driver/kernel crashes on my machine
occasionally, but it doesn't seem init specific)

[Bug 1429472] Re: Kubuntu Vivid 1 Beta 15.04 installation: Progress bar is missing german translation

2015-03-08 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I believe the string in question is not part of ubiquity (the Ubuntu
installer) itself, but rather a program ubuquity uses when installing
the packages for setting up the installed system. Digging a bit, I was
able to find this string [1] which seems to be the one in question.
However, this seems to have been translated a while back, so I'm not
sure why the original would still be shown.

[Bug 1429011] Re: 15.04 wallpapers package

2015-03-08 Thread Tommy_CZ
This is the new version with proper (smaller) resolution of one
wallpaper, the package has only about 14MB now.

If it is possible it would be wonderfull - to satisfy the requirements
of the Ubuntu guideline for wallpapers - to keep the quality of the
wallpapers (not to change the JPEG compression ratio).

All wallpapers are in 2560x1600 resolution now.

[Bug 1180225] Re: all imdb-get searches return no results

2015-03-08 Thread Daniel
I attached a patch which partially fixes the problem for version 0.9-1. The
problem is a probably a redesign of the imdb homepage. Unfortunately, the
developer didn't add any comments about the expected input, which makes it
complicated to find out how the new commands should look like.
With the patch, the tool is at least able to list search results again and it
can extract the title (i got stuck at the extraction of the director).
Personally, I think, bash and regular expressions are just the wrong language
for parsing HTML, because it also leads to escaping problems (see below) and
can return very surprising result if texts contain trigger words.

Here the result after patching:

$ imdb-get -s alien

[Bug 464442] Re: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_delay() returned a value that is exceptionally large: -4496252 bytes (-25488 ms).

2015-03-08 Thread Boomer
Looks like it pretty old but also affects me.
Some details:
Lenovo G50-45 laptop.
3.13.0-46-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 2 18:23:39 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux
Sound delayed and some echo played when I changes sound volume. Only reboot
helps to fix it but only for some time.
Usually sound breaks when I change volume level using Fn keys.

Let me know if you need additional details to investigate.

Thanks.

[Bug 1427033] Re: lubuntu 14.04.2 x64 - Full freeze of system on Amilo A1650G Laptop

2015-03-08 Thread MetzKetz
I would love to but can not. Have linux-crashdump installed but it does
not work. I can with echo c / proc / sysrq-trigger cause a crash ,
but the system does not restart and does not create a dump or a log.

And when the system freezes, neither.

Have now also tested Linux Mint. The same behavior.
x86 or x64 makes no difference. Memtest86 also ran for 6 hours. no errors.

Very confusing.

[Bug 1428711] Re: indicator-sound-service crashed with SIGSEGV in g_variant_is_trusted()

2015-03-08 Thread Charles Kerr
Yep, it looks like we're getting a player with a NULL state somehow,
which is crashing when we try to convert that into a variant for sending
over the bus. (1) we should sanitize our inputs better, ie modify the
state property setter to disallow NULLs. More importantly, (2) we need
to figure out where this NULL state is coming from.

[Bug 1429622] Re: [LENOVO 2447MU0] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2015-03-08 Thread Paul Ortyl
Background information: the main problem is the nvidia driver. I have also
freezes at boot with the last line stating ACPI: Video Device
Unfortunately with this hardware I cannot use builtin Intel GPU because it
does not drive any of external video ports.
I have two 3K monitors connected over docking stations DPorts , lid is closed.

I tried all 3 version of nvidia binary driver available through packet manager,
none works properly in context of suspend/hibernation.
Suspend/Hibernation never worked reliably. I have managed a few times to wake
the system from hibernation, but it was very rare.

As this issue being fixed is very important to me, let me know how can I
help further. I would be glad to test any hint or workaround you
provide.

[Bug 1429631] [NEW] freemedforms-emr crashes during network installation

2015-03-08 Thread jerome.cc
Public bug reported:

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Dear Masters Of The Universe,

Affected release: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty
Source Package: freemedforms-project (0.9.0-2)

As described on upstream issue manager [1] freemedforms-emr crashes
during network installation (during first run of freemedforms-emr,
select type of install: Network (as server)).

This bug was fixed in version 0.9.4 which is available in Debian
Testing (aka Debian Jessie) and also in Debian Unstable (aka Debian
Sid).

I uploaded freemedforms-project 0.9.4 Debian source package to our
Launchpad ppa:freemedforms/ppa : the build process for Trusty worked
seamlessly and the application network installation works perfectly.

Quick fix would be to sync.

Thank you very much.

Re: [Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage

2015-03-08 Thread Ben Bucksch
Philip,

when I said Please make noise, I didn't meant that you should make 100
comments in the bug. I meant to raise awareness of the bug at the Ubuntu
maintainers who decide which hotfixes to include in a LTS release. I
don't know how that works.
