[Bug 1430700] Re: Cannot set flight mode if the second slot is 3G and we have just one SIM in that slot

2015-03-12 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
** Description changed:

Flight mode fails to be set if we have the 3G capabilities set for the
second slot and we have just one SIM, which is inserted in the that
  slot.

  To reproduce using scripts:

  cd /usr/share/ofono/scripts
  ./set-3g-slot /ril_1
  * Reboot the phone (set 3G is failing in this case too, maybe it is related)
  cd /usr/share/ofono/scripts
  ./offline-modem /ril_0
  (slot with no SIM)

-
  This happens for:

  $ system-image-cli -i

I don't think it causes any side effects for other locale. Because all
binding=strong are guarded by ja locale or ja specific font. But to be
safe, adding CJK testers as subscriber to notify this change beforehand.

[Bug 1430298] Re: Touchpad not working and cursor sliding

2015-03-12 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Commit 4ec212f003d2430b0b2748b8a3008255f39cfe13 didn't have a cc to
stable. Once it lands in mainline, we should request that it be
included in the upstream stable kernels, that way it makes it's way in
to the Ubuntu kernels through the stable update process.

[Bug 1315221] Re: 8086:08b1 (rev 6b) [Dell XPS 13 9333] iwlwifi regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2015-03-12 Thread gianluca
Hello,

I filled an apport bug in another topic: #1426259

imho this should linked with this one but i'm not sure on how to
proceed.

i'm sorry to bother with chat-like questions, if this is not the correct
place just let me know:

- is this bug affecting all distro? i'm often abroad and a laptop
without wifi is quite limiting...

- in case no, anyone that already tested a working one?

- in case i will wait for the bug to be solved is there any schedule?

thanks a lot for any reply,
g.

[Bug 1242321] Re: USB 3.0 Harddrive not recognised

2015-03-12 Thread James Cloos
This is still present in vivid.

Switching to the performance govenor, removing the drive and re-adding
it worked around the bug.

Something must be blocking power to the xhci when the cpu is saving
power...?

This is also present on non-Ubuntu systems, including ones running
Linus’ latest kernels.

[Bug 1430700] Re: Cannot set flight mode if the second slot is 3G and we have just one SIM in that slot

2015-03-12 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
@Tony, sorry, the description was wrong, the error happens for vivid-
proposed, not for RTM (it is a regression introduced by the arale
changes). I was using RTM + ofonod compiled with latest main.

I have changed the description with steps to reproduce it from the GUI
and changing version to vivid-proposed.

** Description changed:

Flight mode fails to be set if we have the 3G capabilities set for the
second slot and we have just one SIM, which is inserted in the that
  slot.
+
+ To reproduce it:
+
+ Precondition: The 3G slot should be the first slot initially
+
+ 1. Remove SIM from first slot, insert a SIM in the second slot
+ 2. Power on the phone
+ 3. Go to system settings - cellular
+ 4. Select 2G/3G (faster) for SIM 2. Spinner does not stop after more than 1
minute.
+ 5. Reboot the phone
+ 6. Set flight mode from the indicator. It will appear as set, but the
indicator will still show the SIM as registered.
+
+ The failure to set SIM 2 as 3G without rebooting and being unable to set
+ flight more are manifestations of the same ofono issue.

  To reproduce using scripts:

  cd /usr/share/ofono/scripts
  ./set-3g-slot /ril_1
  * Reboot the phone (set 3G is failing in this case too, maybe it is related)
  cd /usr/share/ofono/scripts
  ./offline-modem /ril_0
  (slot with no SIM)

  This happens for:

  $ system-image-cli -i
  current build number: 141
  device name: krillin
  channel: ubuntu-touch/vivid-proposed
  last update: 2015-03-12 07:28:43

[Bug 1430428] Re: kubuntu: fix live cd boot sequence

2015-03-12 Thread Martin Pitt
I downloaded http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/cdimage/kubuntu/daily-
live/20150311/vivid-desktop-amd64.iso and started it in QEMU. If I don't
do anything in gfxboot, I end up with a Welcome dialog box that has
Try Kubuntu and Install Kubuntu buttons. The former starts a working
live session, I tried a few things from the K menu, and also started the
installer. I also tried the Install Kubuntu button and that just
continues with the installer.

I then pressed a key at the first gfxboot screen (the keyboard == man
one), and there are no other options related to a life session. I tried
check disc for defects and that worked.

Can you please be more specific what's broken here? This doesn't sound
Critical to me?

[Bug 1430700] Re: Cannot set flight mode if the second slot is 3G and we have just one SIM in that slot

2015-03-12 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
@Tony, answering your questions

1. Setting the second slot as 3G under the conditions commented in the
bug description gets stalled. No direct error shown in the log. The
error is that we are waiting for a change in radio state that does never
happen (second slot reports SIM_LOCKED_OR_ABSENT always).

2. The reboot was required because setting 3G does not finish

3. Yes, the modem without SIM cannot be offlined, for the same reason
explained in point (1). /ril_0 is always the first slot to be offlined
by urfkill, but the behaviour changes depending on whether it is the 3G
slot or not. That is why that second slot is 3G is important. Note also
that the commands send to offline one slot depend on whether both slots
are on or just one is on.

4. No, no direct error shown

[Bug 1430799] [NEW] special days used in calendar.unitedkingdom not recognised

2015-03-12 Thread Steven Wilson
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
Release:14.04

bsdmainutils:
  Installed: 9.0.5ubuntu1

calendar.unitedkingdom uses names for special days:

MarEquinox Vernal Equinox
JunSolstice Summer Solstice (longest day of the year)
SepEquinox Autumnal Equinox
DecSolstice Winter Solstice (shortest day of the year)

It seems these aren't recognised and the entries are being compiled to
the 1st of each month. Using the following command:

$ calendar -t 20150301 -f /usr/share/calendar/calendar.unitedkingdom

I'd expect the output:

Mar 01 Saint David's day (Wales)

But what I get is:

Mar 01 Vernal Equinox
Mar 01 Saint David's day (Wales)

[Bug 1430230] Re: Log flooding with warning message when using linux-lowlatency kernel

2015-03-12 Thread mangouste06
I have this exact same problem. My computer logs :

WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 659 at
/build/buildd/linux-3.19.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:9705

WARN_ON(!in_irq())

continually with the 3.19.0-7 and 3.19.0-8 kernels in the -lowlatency kind.

It occurs sometime while resuming from pause in the -generic kind of
kernel.

I concur : https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89321 seems to
have the answer. Even a patch there.

[Bug 1428486] Re: Only start rpc.statd if $NEED_STATD

2015-03-12 Thread Martin Pitt
@Didier: Yes, that's pretty much what I had in mind. Note that update-
rc.d servicename enable|disable already does all that (upstart
override, systemctl enable/disable, etc.), so we should just call that?

I see the conffiles also have NEED_GSSD, should we handle it in a
similar way?

An empty value is auto, and both the upstart job (shell commands in
gssd-mounting.conf) and rpc-gssd.service
(ConditionPathExists=/etc/krb5.keytab) do that auto detection. But
indeed we don't currently check this value in the systemd jobs; I wonder
if we need to? (e. g. RHEL/Fedora just use these systemd units). I. e.
isn't the job of an init system to figure that out for you?

Steve, do you have an opinion on this? Do we need the ability to
forcefully start gssd without krb, or forcefully suppress it with krb?

[Bug 1430509] [NEW] Realtek RTL8723AE can't connect and it's slow

2015-03-12 Thread Enrico

fine on 15.04. It works pretty fine on 14.10 and previous versions, but it's

[Bug 1431212] [NEW] Philips GoGear Vibe MP3 Player is not properly recoginized on Ubuntu 14.04

2015-03-12 Thread pfez
Public bug reported:

I have a Philips GoGear Vibe Mp3 player that worked fine on Ubuntu
12.04. Recently, I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64 bits) on the same
machine and my deviced didn't work properly anymore: when I open it, I
see an icon named 'Internal Storage' inside. If I right-click outside
the icon (but inside the GoGear Vibe folder) to see GoGear properties,
Nautilus says it only has 1 element, with a size of 0 bytes. Also, if I
ask for GoGear's permissions, Nautilus says they couldn't be determined.
If I open 'Internal Storage', nautilus only shows an empty folder (no
files inside, see the attached screenshots for details).

On Ubuntu 12.04, I opened my device and all it's content was shown
directly without any problem. Also, there wasn't any 'Internal Storage'
icon.

This is probably related to bug 1214765, bug 1397487, and question
228269.

[Bug 1404468] Re: German neo2 keyboard layout: no ALT and SUPER keys

2015-03-12 Thread _F_
Actually this seems to affect every key that is not handled directly to
the target application, but indirectly (through the window-manager?),
e.g. also media buttons when the associated media application window is
not focused.

I also seem to have stumbled over a workaround somehow: I'm using Ubuntu
Gnome here, and after installing kubuntu-desktop (during installation I
selected lightdm, not gdm) and starting into KDE once (there the
affected buttons didn't work either), on next login the login screen
changed to KDE-style (where you can choose the UI type). After logging
in to Gnome again the buttons seem to work.

[Bug 1429988] Re: Preview and photos are unfocused

2015-03-12 Thread Ondrej Kubik
there seems to be two issues:
One is focus-mode getting stacked in auto mode and not returning back to
continuous-picture mode.
This could be reproduced by letting camera settle in continuous-picture mode,
then tasking camera away and back, camera is restarted in auto mode. Not sure
what is best way to reproduce but I was moving camera away while it was trying
to refocus at this point and it'd get stacked in auto mode and never return
to continuous-picture mode. Problem can be removed by simply tapping to
screen to few objects to initialise auto focus to object and then moving camera
around. It will usually go back to continuous-picture mode.

Second bug which is described here is when auto detection of macro mode fails
to recognise when macro mode should be switched off. camera will still focus
correctly when doing closeups but will fail to focus to faraway pictures.
I did not find consistent way to reproduce this or how to recover from that
state. Sometimes tasking camera away and then resuming after some time does
restores right state.
How to get phone in that state is also not reliable, but at least once I got
camera to that state by simply focusing (with tab) to close up objects and then
trying far away object, and camera would be in macro mode and no matter what
would not focus to infinity.

After recompiling mutt with openssl instead of gnutls I discovered that
openssl was also affected, so I tried another USB ethernet dongle and
that seems to have fixed it. At least I can't reproduce the problem with

module for the onboard ethernet phy_twl4030_usb.

Maybe this bug could be reassigned?

  1. I have shared Public folder (read write, allow guest) from other Ubuntu
12.04.5 laptop using nautilus-share (0.7.3-1ubuntu2), placed test.odt file in
it.
2a. I navigate Nautilus on other laptop to smb://laptop/public, clicked 'Open
in Terminal here' (or launch terminal and cd ~/.gvfs/public\ on\ laptop).
Run libreoffice test.odt in terminal.
2b. I navigate Nautilus on other laptop to smb://laptop/public, clicked on
'test.odt' file.
- 2c. I mount share from terminal with
+ 2c. I mount share from terminal with
  sudo mount.cifs //192.168.3.11/public /mnt/smb/ -o uid=`id -u`,gid=`id
-g`,guest,sec=none,noperm
  then
  libreoffice /mnt/smb/test.odt

  3. Got Document in Use window with text:

Document file 'test.odt' is locked for editing by:

     Unknown User

Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing.

     Open Read-Only Open Copy Cancel

4a. If I click 'Open Read-Only' the document is opened in read-only.
4b. If I click 'Open Copy' the Untitled 1 document is opened.
  4c. Cancel closes this window.

  Expected results:
The test.odt files is opened in read-write mode, user can edit it.

  Actual results:
User can't edit original document (see pp. 3-4 above).

This functionality is essential. Please fix this bug.

  Notes:
If I try to open document with the command 'libreoffice
smb://laptop/public/test.odt' I run into other bug (bug 1214352).
If I use Windows as SMB/CIFS server I can open and edit document from share.
+ Problem does not exist with SFTP(SSH)- or NFS- file-servers.
My test results are located in Google Docs/Drive Table (
http://goo.gl/jY9Ubj ).

[Bug 1427859] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2015-03-12 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From mauri...@br.ibm.com 2015-03-11 12:50 EDT---
FYI..

Some distros change the multipath user_friendly_names wholedisks
to be mpath[a-z]+ rather than mpath[0-9]+.

This seems intentional :) and takes away the disk-partition separator.

[...] the name of a multipath device is of the form mpathn.
For the [...] release, n is an alphabetic character,
so that the name of a multipath device might be // mpatha or mpathb. //
In previous releases, n was an integer.

It's a distro design decision.
It's an interesting conversation, but requires time, since it introduces some
level of disruption on userspace.

[Bug 1097570] Re: grub2-signed can not find the right device when there are two filesystems containing the file '.disk/info'.

2015-03-12 Thread Bin Li
Now in Lenovo's laptop, we still meet this issue on trusty(14.04.2).

I delete the grub.cfg in recovery partition, after that it will enter grub
shell.
from the result, I thought the $prefix is zero or not exist.

grub cat (memdisk)/grub.cfg

if [ -z $prefix -o ! -e $prefix ]; then
if ! search --file --set=root /.disk/info; then
search --file --set=root /.disk/mini-info
fi
set prefix=($root)/boot/grub
fi
if [ -e $prefix/$platform/grub.cfg ]; then
source $prefix/$platform/grub.cfg
else
source $prefix/grub.cfg
fi

The file debian/build-efi-images of package grub2-2.02.

Grub executed the search --file --set=root /.disk/info first, try to
find out the root. Because .disk/info was exist on USB stick and HDD0
Partition2, so the result included 2 results. But the USB stick was the
first. So the grub.cfg on USB stick was loaded and the system was booted
from USB stick.

Thanks. The -3-1.2:1.0 instance name looks fishy. Can you please check
whether this enables the modem?

  sudo systemctl start usb_modeswitch@3-1.2:1.0.service

you can give me the output of ls -l /var/lib/usb_modeswitch? That

[Bug 1386113] Re: Preseeding encrypted lvm fails with An error occurred while creating the keyfile

2015-03-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ Ubuntu installations, even using the graphical installer, are often scripted
in order to reduce the burden on administrators. With the increasing importance
of security now in enterprise environments, scripted installations may be used
to set up fully-encrypted desktop systems, which in the end need to be fed a
custom password for full-disk encryption; by the end user or otherwise, which
may need to explicitly not be scripted.
+
+ [Test case]
+ Use the included preseed file: one could customize a CD to include it in
preseed/.
+ 1 - Boot on the CD
+ 2 - Press F6 to see the full command-line
+ 3 - Edit the command-line to point to the custom preseed
+ 4 - Add only-ubiquity automatic-ubiquity to boot in the installer, set up
for automatic install.
+ 5 - Start the system by hitting the Enter key.
+
+ The installation should complete succesfully. Without the patch, it will
+ crash, and show an error message repeatedly.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ This affects the encryption page of the installer only, so could cause issues
in the rendering of that page, or cause properly-scripted encryption settings
to be missing in case of a regression.
+
+ ---
+
I was trying to preseed creating encrypted lvm for enabling unattended
installation with ubiquity 2.18.8.2 (in trusty).

  The password has been preseeded.

The installation fails before partitioning with a message box:
Keyfile creation failed. An error occurred while creating the keyfile.

[Bug 1429988] Re: Preview and photos are unfocused

2015-03-12 Thread Ondrej Kubik
To observe focus_mode do following:
$ adb shell
$ sudo /system/bin/logcat | grep focus-mode
Tapping on the screen switched focus-mode to auto focus to defined coordinates
When moving phone around, phone should default to
focus-mode=continuous-picture
This is not always done when resuming camera app.
Again not same issue as one reported by John when phone would never focus and
be stacked in macro mode.
!! Macro here does not mean focus-mode=macro

[Bug 1430700] Re: Cannot set flight mode if the second slot is 3G and we have just one SIM in that slot

2015-03-12 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
The reason for the failure is that the radio state reported for the
first slot is always SIM_LOCKED_OR_ABSENT: radio OFF state is only
reported for the main (=3G) slot.
