Not seeing that on krillin with the latest vivid-proposed image.
Unfortunately I don’t have a nexus 4 to test this. Can someone with a
nexus 4 test and confirm the issue?

[Bug 1204919] Re: 4.10.1 version affects session autosave so it couldn't be switched off

2015-03-18 Thread tomsam
Well, Andrzej, nice that it is fixed (or hopefully fixed).

Nov 19, 2014 is now almost 4 months ago ... but I still encounter the
problem in my Xubuntu 14.04 LTS ...

So: when will Xubuntu 14.04 LTS users get the update for this?

Or do we all have to compile that on our own?

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2015-03-18 Thread Aaron Curtis
I can confirm this in Comsol Multiphysics, and various versions of
eclipse and liclipse, on Kubuntu 14.04 64-bit. Really serious bug. The
Eclipses tend to crash during debugging but it seems random. Comsol used
to run for a while before crashing but now crashes as soon as you create
a new blank model.

[Bug 1431473] Re: kvm_intel (nested) module will not load [Input/output error]

2015-03-18 Thread Stefan Bader
Mirroring the feedback I got on the mailing list. Potentially we could
add the missing bit to the required part of the 3.2 kvm-intel module.
But then the comments about support and security make me wonder whether
we really want to. There seems to be quite a bit of work to get even
3.13 (Trusty) into shape. Leave alone 3.2...

Paolo Bonzini wrote:
Because if we wanted to make 3.14 nested VMX stable-ish we would need
 several more, at least these:

KVM: nVMX: fix lifetime issues for vmcs02
KVM: nVMX: clean up nested_release_vmcs12 and code around it
KVM: nVMX: Rework interception of IRQs and NMIs
KVM: nVMX: Do not inject NMI vmexits when L2 has a pending
 interrupt
KVM: nVMX: Disable preemption while reading from shadow VMCS

 and for 3.13:

KVM: nVMX: Leave VMX mode on clearing of feature control MSR

There are also several L2-crash-L1 bugs too in Nadav Amit's patches.

Basically, nested VMX was never considered stable-worthy. Perhaps
that can change soon---but not retroactively.

So I'd rather avoid giving false impressions of the stability of nVMX
 in 3.14.

Even if we considered nVMX stable, I'd _really_ not want to consider
the L1-L2 boundary a secure one for a longer time.

[Bug 1433540] [NEW] dot crashes with assertion failed on graph with some combinations of duplicated edges

2015-03-18 Thread gouri
Public bug reported:

When processing some source files with a number of duplicated edges
(that is, there exist some nodes A and B such that several edges A-B
are declared with various properties), dot fails to produce an output.
Usual source files are processed correctly.

Bug exists upstream with detailed steps to reproduce on
http://www.graphviz.org/mantisbt/view.php?id=2456 but I could not create
an account there (or even login anonymously). This bug report on
LaunchPad may be useful to confirm it affects multiple users.

I suspect the reason is duplicated edges because the only Google answer
on the assertion failure message is on that Mantis page, and the graphs
I was working on do have a number of duplicated edges.

[Bug 1432681] Re: Lubuntu boot very slow

2015-03-18 Thread Didier Roche
Thanks for your bug report and help to make ubuntu better. Journal logs
will be helpful to know exactly what happens during your slow boot, do
you mind pasting journalctl -b output here (and eventually boot in
debug mode: add systemd.log_level=debug in grub to boot with it).

Please turn back the bug status to new once you have attached this,
thanks!

[Bug 1429135] Re: webbrowser-app crashed with SIGSEGV in XQueryExtension()

2015-03-18 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Just tested the unity8 desktop session on my laptop with an up-to-date vivid,
and while the session starts, the scopes window is completely empty. Launching
anything from the launcher results in a window briefly opening and disappearing
right away.
There’s no ~/.cache/upstart/application-legacy-webbrowser-app-.log log file, so
I’m suspecting something’s wrong with the session and the browser app isn’t
even executed.

[Bug 1351376] Re: 3d is not proper working inside a virtualbox guest

2015-03-18 Thread Monsta
Hi Mirco,

Here's a note from the developers in the upstream bug report:

Please stop reporting that you see the line libGL error: failed to load
driver: vboxvideo in the output of glxinfo and/or unity_support_test.
This is normal (an artifact of the unusual approach which VirtualBox
uses to implement the 3D support).

As long as the command shows OpenGL renderer string: Chromium
everything is perfect, and will result in working 3D acceleration.

[Bug 1381625] Re: Adjust brightness to lowest value caused screen whole black

2015-03-18 Thread Zygmunt Krynicki
Hey, a small update. Lantern test v2 tests exactly what happens when
brightness is set to 0. I have 10 samples so far and I will be able to
analyze them today. My gut feeling is that acpi aka firmware control
never tuns the backlight off entirely (so setting zero in userspace is
safe) while raw control will just disable all light at the same level. I
would suggest that for raw controls the bottom value should be 10% of
max brightness. The actual value also depends on if the scale is linear
or logarithmic which is on my TODO list to check in Lantern.

Release:14.04
Codename: trusty

So I guess we can simply confirm in this case isn't it?

The battery hotkey on this system (fn+f3) cannot bring up the power

Also verified with 14.04.2 on LiveUSB, it's not working as well.

[Bug 1433183] Re: Kernel oops when running devstack/stack.sh

2015-03-18 Thread Andrew McDermott
Not noticed on other architectures as I am only testing against AArch64
at the moment. The failure was with the stock kernel that comes with the
vivid cloud image (3.19.0-9-generic). I had been building and using
3.19.1 on Trusty (AArch64 again) for about 3 days and hadn't noticed the
failure there, so I attempted to untar and build the kernel on vivid.
The untar generated the same oops I saw with whatever devstack/stack.sh
was doing at the time (which looked like pip install ...).

devstack has been working very well for me on AArch64 - I have been
running it daily for months, so yes it does work on earlier kernels.
Some of the results are captured here:
http://openstack.validation.linaro.org/dashboard/image-charts/tempest-
measurements.

This week has been the first time I have targeted vivid (and therefore
3.19.x).

[Bug 1327692] Re: package libssl1.0.0 1.0.1f-1ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite shared '/usr/share/doc/libssl1.0.0/changelog.Debian.gz', which is different from other instances

2015-03-18 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
One can work around the issue by moving
`/usr/share/doc/libssl1.0.0/changelog.Debian.gz` out of the way (e.g.
`sudo mv /usr/share/doc/libssl1.0.0/changelog.Debian.gz /tmp` (move the
file back to its original location if `dpkg` still fails!).

[Bug 1342312] Re: ghostscript hangs reading certain pdfs

2015-03-18 Thread Rolf Leggewie
** Description changed:

+ SRU justification
+
On a few pdfs, gs hangs and uses 100% cpu forever.

This could be used as a denial of service through imagemagick which uses

  I found the issue.

The packages from utopic (9.14~dfsg-0ubuntu3) processes these pdfs

in utopic and later. The SRU is then to backprt this patch to trusty.

[Bug 1433183] Re: Kernel oops when running devstack/stack.sh

2015-03-18 Thread Andrew McDermott
I have seen this oops twice; I didn't report the issue first time round
as the machine I was using had been powered down and I was unable to
collect any logs. I happened to notice the stacktrace in my serial
console window so I tried again and saw the issue again (and raised this
bug). However, I have tried to reproduce it again this morning but 2
stack/unstack.sh have completed successfully - where success means no
kernel oops. Each installation of OpenStack is done from a freshly
installed cloud image so perhaps there have been other changes in that
image since Monday/Tuesday this week.

[Bug 1432459] Re: USB 3.0 automount after Power off driver/safely remove

2015-03-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
公输目, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the
very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant
for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream

2015-03-18 Thread Michał Sawicz
Seems related to this, after using schroot with overlay on /dev/shm, I
end up with multiple /dev/shm mounts on top of one another.

I'll try and collect more data and will comment back here or file a new
bug.

[Bug 1433469] Re: zookeeper init script fails to stop service

2015-03-18 Thread Akshay Moghe
Details of the package:

root@2d88cb921d2a:/# dpkg-query --show zookeeperd
zookeeperd 3.4.5+dfsg-1

** Description changed:

The init script in the zookeeperd package is not able to stop the
service once started. This is because do_stop calls the is_running
function, which will return and the remainder of the do_stop function is
not executed (which does crucial start-stop-daemon invocation).
+
+ Affected package:
+ -
+ root@2d88cb921d2a:/# dpkg-query --show zookeeperd
+ zookeeperd3.4.5+dfsg-1

  Steps to repro:

  # Start zookeeper , then query to see it is running
  root@2d88cb921d2a:/# /etc/init.d/zookeeper status
- * zookeeper is running
+  * zookeeper is running

  # Ensure that it is running... (snipped for brevity
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# ps aux | grep zookeeper
  root 336 0.0 0.0 34048 8524 ?T07:43 0:00 zile
/etc/init.d/zookeeper

/usr/bin/java -cp /etc/zookeeper/conf:/usr/share/java/jline.jar...

  # Now try to stop it
  root@2d88cb921d2a:/# /etc/init.d/zookeeper stop
  root@2d88cb921d2a:/# echo $?
  0

- # Check if its still running
+ # Check if its still running (seems to stay up)
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# ps aux | grep zookeeper
  root 336 0.0 0.0 34048 8524 ?T07:43 0:00 zile
/etc/init.d/zookeeper
  zookeep+ 357 0.1 0.8 4682800 106684 ? Sl 07:51 0:02
/usr/bin/java -cp /etc/zookeeper/conf:/usr/share/java/jline.jar...

- # Instead invoke the correct start-stop daemon invocation
- root@2d88cb921d2a:/# start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5
--pidfile /var/run/zookeeper/zookeeper.pid
+ # Instead invoke the correct start-stop daemon invocation (now it stops)
+ root@2d88cb921d2a:/# start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5
--pidfile /var/run/zookeeper/zookeeper.pid
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# ps aux | grep zookeeper
  root 452 0.0 0.0 11984 912 ?S+ 08:21 0:00 grep
--color=auto zookeeper

  Possible solution:

A more robust alternative to these functions can be found in the
cassandra package, whose functions are as follows:

  is_running()
  {
- if [ -f $PIDFILE ]; then
- pid=`cat $PIDFILE`
- grep -Eq $CMD_PATT /proc/$pid/cmdline 2/dev/null return 0
- return 1
- fi
- return 3
+ if [ -f $PIDFILE ]; then
+ pid=`cat $PIDFILE`
+ grep -Eq $CMD_PATT /proc/$pid/cmdline 2/dev/null return 0
+ return 1
+ fi
+ return 3
  }

  ... and ...

  do_stop()
  {
- # Return
- # 0 if daemon has been stopped
- # 1 if daemon was already stopped
- # 2 if daemon could not be stopped
- # other if a failure occurred
- start-stop-daemon -K -p $PIDFILE -R TERM/30/KILL/5 /dev/null
- RET=$?
- rm -f $PIDFILE
- return $RET
+ # Return
+ # 0 if daemon has been stopped
+ # 1 if daemon was already stopped
+ # 2 if daemon could not be stopped
+ # other if a failure occurred
+ start-stop-daemon -K -p $PIDFILE -R TERM/30/KILL/5 /dev/null
+ RET=$?
+ rm -f $PIDFILE
+ return $RET
  }

[Bug 1376154] Re: data grid not displaying resultset is blank

2015-03-18 Thread angus73
Sorry, my mistake. I was not sure that it was a regression, and indeed I
realized (before reading the last post from Michael) that I had this
version installed:

mysql-workbench-community 6.1.7-1ubu1204

Uninstalling it and installing mysql-workbench package fixed the
problem.

So, if I understand correctly, I don't suffer from a regression. Maybe
Peter does, but I would suggest him to double check his WB version
before filing a new bug. Does it make sense?

2015-03-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver

an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(F.26). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1433469] [NEW] zookeeper init script fails to stop service

2015-03-18 Thread Akshay Moghe
Public bug reported:

The init script in the zookeeperd package is not able to stop the
service once started. This is because do_stop calls the is_running
function, which will return and the remainder of the do_stop function is
not executed (which does crucial start-stop-daemon invocation).

Steps to repro:

# Start zookeeper , then query to see it is running
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# /etc/init.d/zookeeper status
 * zookeeper is running

# Ensure that it is running... (snipped for brevity
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# ps aux | grep zookeeper
root 336 0.0 0.0 34048 8524 ?T07:43 0:00 zile
/etc/init.d/zookeeper
zookeep+ 357 0.1 0.8 4682800 106684 ? Sl 07:51 0:01 /usr/bin/java
-cp /etc/zookeeper/conf:/usr/share/java/jline.jar...

# Now try to stop it
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# /etc/init.d/zookeeper stop
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# echo $?
0

# Check if its still running
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# ps aux | grep zookeeper
root 336 0.0 0.0 34048 8524 ?T07:43 0:00 zile
/etc/init.d/zookeeper
zookeep+ 357 0.1 0.8 4682800 106684 ? Sl 07:51 0:02 /usr/bin/java
-cp /etc/zookeeper/conf:/usr/share/java/jline.jar...

# Instead invoke the correct start-stop daemon invocation
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5
--pidfile /var/run/zookeeper/zookeeper.pid
root@2d88cb921d2a:/# ps aux | grep zookeeper
root 452 0.0 0.0 11984 912 ?S+ 08:21 0:00 grep
--color=auto zookeeper

Possible solution:

A more robust alternative to these functions can be found in the
cassandra package, whose functions are as follows:

is_running()
{
if [ -f $PIDFILE ]; then
pid=`cat $PIDFILE`
grep -Eq $CMD_PATT /proc/$pid/cmdline 2/dev/null return 0
return 1
fi
return 3
}

... and ...

do_stop()
{
# Return
# 0 if daemon has been stopped
# 1 if daemon was already stopped
# 2 if daemon could not be stopped
# other if a failure occurred
start-stop-daemon -K -p $PIDFILE -R TERM/30/KILL/5 /dev/null
RET=$?
rm -f $PIDFILE
return $RET
}

[Bug 1432882] Re: libclang1 has wrong standard include paths

2015-03-18 Thread Corentin SCHREIBER
This issue could be linked to this entry of the llvm libtooling FAQ:
http://clang.llvm.org/docs/LibTooling.html#libtooling-builtin-includes

Quoting:
Clang tools need their builtin headers and search for them the same way Clang
does. Thus, the default location to look for builtin headers is in a path
$(dirname /path/to/tool)/../lib/clang/3.3/include relative to the tool binary.
This works out-of-the-box for tools running from llvm’s toplevel binary
directory after building clang-headers, or if the tool is running from the
binary directory of a clang install next to the clang binary.

I guess this could explain the ../lib/clang/3.4 in libclang.

I have another machine running quantal, and on which I could install
libclang1-3.3 and libclang1-3.4 from the llvm PPA (ppa:h-rayflood/llvm). Here
too, the library search dirs start with the same ../lib/clang/, but these
versions work perfectly. There must be something different in the way they are
built, however from what I could gather this PPA is just taking the packages
from Debian without modification:
http://http.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/llvm-toolchain-3.4

I will try this approach in lucid, replacing the packages provided by
Ubuntu and report back.

[Bug 1295030] Re: Please backport latest ntfs-3g to precise and trusty

2015-03-18 Thread Marcos K
A severe side-effect of the old version (currently used in Ubumtu 14.04)
is described at http://askubuntu.com/questions/597815/ntfs-3g-failed-to-
decompress-file

Not just inability to access Windows 8 compressed files (or others
too?), but leads to a disk space DOS, essentially killing the Linux OS
until the mess gets cleaned up.
