[Bug 1425398] Re: Apparmor uses rsyslogd profile for different processes - utopic HWE

2015-05-07 Thread Pavel Malyshev
It seems that issue is gone with this fix.

1. Installed the package from trusty-proposed
# LANG=C apt-cache policy rsyslog
rsyslog:
  Installed: 7.4.4-1ubuntu2.6
  Candidate: 7.4.4-1ubuntu2.6
  Version table:
 *** 7.4.4-1ubuntu2.6 0
400 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-proposed/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 7.4.4-1ubuntu2.5 0
500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64
Packages
 7.4.4-1ubuntu2.3 0
500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security/main amd64
Packages
 7.4.4-1ubuntu2 0
500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages

2. commented out the workaround /dev/log rwl, from
/etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.sbin.rsyslogd

3. Rebooted to the latest Utopic HWE kernel
# uname -a
Linux emma 3.16.0-37-generic #51~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 6 15:23:14 UTC 2015
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

4. The issue is gone:
# dmesg | grep DENIED
#

[Bug 1372609] Re: Touchpad detected as mouse on Asus ux303ln laptop

2015-05-07 Thread Matej
Pilot6,

This is my 3.16 kernel version:
matej@UX303LA:~$ uname -a
Linux UX303LA 3.16.0-33-generic #44 SMP Thu Mar 12 20:01:34 MSK 2015 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I used to have Kubuntu 14.10 and I did use your custom kernel back then.
Then my touchpad stopped working on that kernel (then I reported it in post
#289) so I upgraded to Kubuntu 15.04.

And yes, by working I mean fully working with multitouch and all.

[Bug 1167614] Re: DHCP server incorrectly handling VLAN tagged packets

according to the changelog, this should be fixed in upstream since isc-dhcp
4.3.2b1. see
ftp://ftp.isc.org/isc/dhcp/4.3.2/dhcp-4.3.2-RELNOTES

So all we'd need is a new package with the new upstream released

[Bug 1396380] Re: Installation stuck on Preparing to install Ubuntu

2015-05-07 Thread momiga
I have the same issue, also installing alongside Windows 7. I did `ps
axjf' and noticed it was stuck running `ntfsresize -f -i /dev/sda2',
which was called by a partman script. I assume the script was trying to
determine the minimum size of the Windows partition to give an option to
resize it. The path to the script on the LiveCD was:

/lib/partman/automatically_partition/10resize_use_free/option

My workaround was the remove the part of the partman script responsible
for calling ntfsresize, since I already had my disks prepartitioned.
Ubiquity worked fine after that, and it was able to automatically
install alongside Windows 7.

I'm probably going to post about this in the Ubiquity package bug
tracker. ntfsresize is really slow on real world NTFS file systems and
shouldn't be being used by Ubiquity in such a way unless requested by
the user.

[Bug 1452614] [NEW] Kworker using 100% CPU

2015-05-07 Thread Luis Alberto Pabón
Public bug reported:

On a fresh vivid install, the kworker process is using a constant 100%
of one of 4 virtual cores. I can work around this issue by following the
following guide: http://askubuntu.com/questions/176565/why-does-kworker-
cpu-usage-get-so-high and it's the same issue as in #1087010

GPE13.

This also happened on 13.10, I had to apply the same workaround back
then.

[Bug 1432265] Re: does not ask for multiple LUKS passphrases without plymouth

2015-05-07 Thread Kimmo Satta
I can confirm this also.

Steps to reproduce:
- install *buntu 15.04
- sudo systemctl set-default multi-user.target
- add some partition _other than root_ to /etc/crypttab

- systemd doesn't ask for passphrase, stops at starting cryptography
for foo..

booting with upstart and text kernel option (same as systemd and
multi-user.target), it asks for passphrase and works correctly.

In my tests I had root without encryption and another partition in
crypttab, then it doesn't ask for passphrase. In another test I had root
encrypted and that in crypttab, then it asks for the passphrase.

Looks like gtk in master has a position indicator thingy on mouse

[Bug 1438494] Re: ghostscript fails to correctly substitute cidf fonts

2015-05-07 Thread cliddell
Apologies, Till, for the delayed reply - I *thought* replying on a bug
also subscribed me to it, but clearly not! (I have subscribed now).

There is a bit of guess work here, as I don't fully understand the file
locations.

We are mainly concerned with the cidfmap file. Now, there is a set of
cidfmap files in /etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/ and those (it appears)
are used by the /usr/sbin/update-gsfontmap script (poor name, as it
adds to the confusion that Fonts and CIDFonts are the same thing!), to
update the *actual* cidfmap which is in
/var/lib/ghostscript/fonts/cidfmap. It is not at all clear to me how
the update-gsfontmap script gets run - possibly only as a package
post-install step?

The files in /etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/ are as follows (file name +
TTF font(s) referenced):

90gs-cjk-resource-cns1.conf - ukai.ttc, uming.ttc
90gs-cjk-resource-gb1.conf - ukai.ttc, uming.ttc
90gs-cjk-resource-japan1.conf - fonts-japanese-mincho.ttf,
fonts-japanese-gothic.ttf
90gs-cjk-resource-japan2.conf - ttf-japanese-mincho.ttf, ttf-japanese-gothic.ttf
90gs-cjk-resource-korea1.conf - NanumMyeongjo.ttf, NanumBarunGothic.ttf,
NanumBarunGothicBold.ttf, NanumGothic.ttf

NOTE: there is some inconsistency (possibly bitrot) there with fonts-
japanese-*.ttf used in one file and ttf-japanese-*.ttf used in
another - clearly the same font, but likely different generations of
name.

My two alternate solutions are that the Ghostscript package should be augmented
to include the fonts listed above (with the names and paths updated to reflect
the current directory tree etc) as dependencies, thus they always get installed
with Ghostscript.

*Or* to split off (I *think*) the files in /etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/
into something like a ghostscript-cjk-cidfonts package, which has
those fonts listed above as dependencies (again with names and paths
revised for a modern system).

[Bug 1358704] Re: Atheros AR8161[1969:1091] and AR8162 [1969:1090] mac address would change after powered off for a while

@Po-Hsu Lin

Does the mac address always change to valid address after booting into
linux? If yes, so the linux driver seems well but the bios(or bootrom)
can't get the valid address. So when does the bios get the valid
address?

verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at

[Bug 1448555] Re: network-manager does not autoconnect to wifi network after resume from suspend

2015-05-07 Thread Kevin Brubeck Unhammer
I'm not sure if this is the same bug, but after upgrading to 15.04, I
have to sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager to get back my network
interfaces after a long suspend. If I test a short suspend/resume cycle,
like a couple seconds, it works fine, but when I open my laptop in the
morning I have to restart NetworkManager.

I attached a journalctl excerpt; I closed the lid last night at 20:29,
then opened it this morning at 08:09 and first tried the hardware
switch, then eventually restarted NetworkManager.

I tried this (using dconf-editor in Gnome 3.14.1):
Terminal → dconf-editor → org → gtk → settings → file chooser
The Show hidden option must be UNCHECKED and BE CONFIRMED at the bottom page
button - Set to default
This worked. Please see the #4 comment on this page.

2015-05-07 Thread Adrian Chapman
Exactly the same being seen here, frequently.

Vivid 15.04, upgraded on release from 14.10 (previously upgraded several times)
Intel 3945ABG using iwl3945
Dell Latitude D830

deauthenticating by local choice message in dmesg, followed by a dozen
or so lines of Failed check-sdata-in-driver check, flags: 0x4 all
timestamped within 0.01 seconds.

Check network-manager - networks all shown. Turn wireless hardware switch off,
all go. Back on, all stay gone.
Restart network-manager - Wi-Fi Networks: device not ready

Under 14.10, on first booting the machine, it would always associate
with a weaker wireless network, and need manually changing to the
stronger. This never happened prior to 14.10, and doesn't happen under
15.04

Time before failure can be several days, or (as this morning) can be
~20min after boot. It can fail to resume, or it can happen whilst the
machine's in use. I think I've had it a dozen or so times since upgrade.

hi Alfred,

thanks for the suggestion. have been relying on scp the file and lpr on

now, i think i got it working? attached cupsd.conf.

some sites that i looked at before i got it working
http://chschneider.eu/linux/server/cups.shtml

http://askubuntu.com/questions/345083/how-do-i-disable-automatic-remote-

for the filter failure on remote printer, read in some mailing lists
about using raw queue to avoid double conversion on both client and
server side? although been doing same setup on adding remote printer on
previous versions of cups and everything was ok. on cups webgui, the
remote printer's make and model is indicated as Remote Printer.

[Bug 1452601] [NEW] vivid container's networking.service fails on boot with signal=PIPE

2015-05-07 Thread Chris West
Public bug reported:

When starting a Vivid container, it fails to get an IP address. It
believes networking.service was successful, but actually it dies with
SIGPIPE. Restarting networking.service gets an IP, as expected.

Starting networking used to work with pre-vivid containers. I'm
reasonably sure this fails 100% of the time. Limited user container,
very standard setup (no unnecessary config; cgmanager and lxcfs
installed), btrfs filesystem but not btrfs-backed (as it's limited
user), ...

Limited user container,
very standard setup (no unnecessary config; cgmanager and lxcfs
installed), btrfs filesystem but not btrfs-backed (as it's limited
user), ...

2015-05-07 Thread Manfred Hampl

Several people have tried creating a link from libgcrypt11 to

sudo ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so.20.0.2
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so.11
respectively
sudo ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so.20.0.2
/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so.11

and have received errors like

spotify: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so.11: version `GCRYPT_1.2' not
found (required by /opt/spotify/spotify-client/Data/libcef.so)

So that seems not to be sufficiently binary compatible.

[Bug 1432194] Re: Graphics unstable on Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 using Intel HD Graphics 5500

2015-05-07 Thread John doe
@timo: i'm confident that my bug is related to the one reported by seth in this
bug issue:
seth bug screenshot:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1432194/+attachment/4347477/+files/screen1.png
my bug screenshot: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/201749121/missing_letter_1.png

Of course it will not be the case if seth issue is fixed.

@seth: does the kernel 37.51 fix your issue ? if not, I think we may
keep open this bug report no?

[Bug 1447645] Re: Android Studio installation failed

2015-05-07 Thread Didier Roche
Thanks for your bug report and helping Ubuntu Make to get better!

I can't reproduce your issue on current vivid, do you mind writing
exactly the command (in particular the destination path) you entered?
Maybe some unescape space or anything wasn't supported?

Hi, I now tested trusty-proposed too, and everything works as expected:
Empathy no longer appears under the Facebook and MSN accounts.

[Bug 1441068] Re: lxc-destroy fails on btrfs subvolumes

2015-05-07 Thread Chris West
This also occurs for limited user containers, without asking for a btrfs
backing store. This is more of a problem as the limited user can't
delete (or even detect) the subvolume themselves.

On a standard whole-partition-as-btrfs system, as setup by the installer, this
looks like:
ID 257 gen 46021 top level 5 path @
ID 258 gen 46021 top level 5 path @home
...
ID 373 gen 35464 top level 257 path @/var/lib/machines
ID 374 gen 45983 top level 258 path
faux/.local/share/lxc/vivid/rootfs/var/lib/machines
ID 395 gen 45995 top level 258 path
faux/.local/share/lxc/vivid2/rootfs/var/lib/machines
ID 396 gen 46011 top level 258 path
faux/.local/share/lxc/vivid3/rootfs/var/lib/machines
ID 397 gen 46014 top level 258 path
faux/.local/share/lxc/vivid4/rootfs/var/lib/machines

[Bug 1452603] [NEW] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)

2015-05-07 Thread Nick Demou
Public bug reported:

This notebook works fine for about 2 years (now on Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS).
A few hours ago I upgraded my kernel (apt-get dist-upgrade) to
3.13.0-52-generic #86~precise1. Don't know if it's related but now I got
the following Oops while opening Gimp. I'll keep this kernel for now to
see if it happens again (already tried opening gimp on the same file
without problems although I don't think it's related).
