[Bug 1455482] Re: Multipath: upgrade multipath-tools to upstream

2015-06-03 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Mathieu,

One of the things where Debian differs from upstream (but not new) is to stick
with mpath[0-9]+ rather than mpath[a-z]+.
This is in patch 0002, iirc.
Can we switch over or (easier) rebase/move it toward the end of the series?

If it's not possible to switch over (we already know where to fix things for
d-i), I'd ask to at least move that patch to the end of the series, and rebase
it when required.
It's currently an inconvenient when backporting patches from upstream (many of
which are rooted in a change that it complicates to do).
I believe the work to make the change is worth it / lesser than that work for
backporting due to keeping it.

This is an issue with SDL2. As with SDL2 it needs to load the OpenGL

unloads the library. Then the app starts which needs to load the library
again ad seg fault.

[Bug 1461668] [NEW] ir-keytable presses recognised but not working

2015-06-03 Thread tiago
Public bug reported:

I'm using ir-keytable to map button presses on a remote control to
keyboard presses. I'm using an old Apple remote and after scanning for
the keycodes I've produced a keymap file which is loaded by ir-keytable.
However, I have only succeeded in getting the arrow keys and enter
working (KEY_UP,  KEY_DOWN, KEY_LEFT, KEY_RIGHT, KEY_ENTER). All the
other keypresses that I've tried are recognised by ir-keytable, but are
not being passed to the system. For example, the KEY_BACKSPACE which I
need. Running ir-keytable -t and pressing the relevant remote button I
get:

1433359068.641206: event type EV_KEY(0x01) key_down: KEY_BACKSPACE(0x0001)
1433359068.641206: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
1433359068.641230: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x77e1c03d
1433359068.641230: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
1433359068.641235: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x77e1c03d
1433359068.641235: event type EV_SYN(0x00).

But it never works as backspace. For example, if I open a text editor
and use the arrow or enter keys, I can see the cursor moving around. But
the backspace does not work. Also any other keymap that I've tried (e.g.
numbers, letters) does not work.

I'm using ir-keytable 1.6.0-2 in xubuntu 15.04.  My system is a
NUC5i5RYHK, the IR driver is nuvoton-cir. The output of ir-keytable is:

Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event3) with:
Driver nuvoton-cir, table rc-rc6-mce

[Bug 1445195] Re: [Hyper-V] Kernel patches for storvsc

2015-06-03 Thread Frederik Bosch
@jrp I have tried to discover if there were any differences between the
backup that failed and the other ones. I noticed this one thing. Before
or during backup (cannot recall exactly atm) a 'composer install'
process was running. Composer is a php package manager. It downloads and
deploys many small files on the filesystem (download of multiple tar.gz
files that are being unpacked). This machine normally does nothing more
than serving http requests. It is the opposite of a high-load server. So
the composer process is an outlier compared to the usual operations.
Maybe this helps to reproduce the io pattern.

Thanks anyway for the work already. It makes a difference for sure. Hope
there will be a final solution anytime soon.

[Bug 1451613] Re: [regression] Unity/compiz crashes when locking screen

2015-06-03 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Scaler, or anyone else affected,

Accepted unity into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/7.2.5+14.04.20150603-0ubuntu1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1456628] Re: DBUS API doesn't prevent confined apps from passing paths to files without access

2015-06-03 Thread Jamie Strandboge
This does not constitute an emergency update and as such it should
follow any other criteria for OTA. It is marked Critical, so it seems a
candidate, but it shouldn't be rushed (ie, it should follow landing
procedures, QA signoff, etc). I think if the timing is ok with the
release team, targeting OTA-4 is fine, but if it isn't, OTA-5 is ok.

[Bug 1371634] Re: block devices appear twice

2015-06-03 Thread Scott Moser
Ok, so Oleg and I were looking at a solution, and figured we'd give the maybe
it just works path a try.
I installed a system, it installed onto /dev/sda (as this bug shows).
I then 'apt-get install multipath-tools-boot'

I rebooted, with the 'root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs' on the cmdline (as
normal). It died in initramfs unable to find root. The full bootlog at
http://paste.ubuntu.com/11547135/ .

The multipath-tools-boot package puts some code into the initramfs
(/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/multipath) that does this:

| if [ -x /sbin/kpartx -a -x /sbin/dmsetup ]; then
| /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec /sbin/kpartx -a -p -part
/dev/null
| fi

That looks all well and good.

In the initramfs I did some debugging:
(initramfs) /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A9A0   (252, 1)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A920   (252, 2)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A980   (252, 5)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A960   (252, 3)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A9C0   (252, 4)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A940   (252, 0)

And then further debug, I find that dmsetup is calling kpartx seemingly
correctly, but kpartx is I think messing up.

I was able to fix this by booting with:
  root=UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba ro console=hvc0
break=post-multipath

Then doing:

(initramfs) cat /tmp/myprog
#!/bin/sh
tgt=$1
fixed=$(echo $tgt | sed 's, ,\\x20,g')
{
echo input: '$tgt'
echo fixed: '$fixed'
echo /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed
/sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed
ret=$?
echo $ret
}  /tmp/log 21
exit $ret

(initramfs) rm /tmp/log

I exited from there, the remaining boot took over, and mounted the device
mapper device as /.

All happy.

So, if there weren't a bug in kpartx we'd have a very easy solution in just
installing the multipath-tools-boot package.
That said, it looks like user_friendly_names in /etc/multipath.conf might be
relevant.

[Bug 1371634] Re: block devices appear twice

2015-06-03 Thread Scott Moser
Ok, so Oleg and I were looking at a solution, and figured we'd give the maybe
it just works path a try.
I installed a system, it installed onto /dev/sda (as this bug shows).
I then 'apt-get install multipath-tools-boot'

I rebooted, with the 'root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs' on the cmdline (as
normal). It died in initramfs unable to find root. The full bootlog at
http://paste.ubuntu.com/11547135/ .

The multipath-tools-boot package puts some code into the initramfs
(/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/multipath) that does this:

| if [ -x /sbin/kpartx -a -x /sbin/dmsetup ]; then
| /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec /sbin/kpartx -a -p -part
/dev/null
| fi

That looks all well and good.

In the initramfs I did some debugging:
(initramfs) /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A9A0   (252, 1)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A920   (252, 2)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A980   (252, 5)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A960   (252, 3)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A9C0   (252, 4)
1IBM IPR-0   5EC2A940   (252, 0)

And then further debug, I find that dmsetup is calling kpartx seemingly
correctly, but kpartx is I think messing up.

I was able to fix this by booting with:
  root=UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba ro console=hvc0
break=post-multipath

Then doing:

(initramfs) cat /tmp/myprog
#!/bin/sh
tgt=$1
fixed=$(echo $tgt | sed 's, ,\\x20,g')
{
echo input: '$tgt'
echo fixed: '$fixed'
echo /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed
/sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed
ret=$?
echo $ret
}  /tmp/log 21
exit $ret

(initramfs) rm /tmp/log

(initramfs) cat /tmp/log

[Bug 1183699] Re: switch -D is not working

2015-06-03 Thread Radu Cristescu
By that description, '-f' (without a size value) should be enforced with
'-D'. I.e. the char test makes no sense in O_DIRECT mode and should be
skipped.

[Bug 1461675] [NEW] [wily] Failed to load intel_drv.so: undefined symbol: xorgMir

2015-06-03 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Public bug reported:

Hello,

With the latest version of xserver-xorg-core (2:1.17.1-0ubuntu4), I'm no
longer able to start X11.

Here is what I found in /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

Reinstalling xserver-xorg-core, xserver-common and xserver-xephyr
(version 1.17.1-0ubuntu3) temporary fixes this problem.

[Bug 1073204] Re: ssh-authkey-fingerprints fails on boot

2015-06-03 Thread Jan Segre
I am having this bug in trusty apparently:

```
Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS ubuntu ttyS0
ubuntu login: Cloud-init v. 0.7.5 running 'modules:final' at Wed, 03 Jun 2015
19:49:18 +. Up 13.50 seconds.
Cloud-init v. 0.7.5 finished at Wed, 03 Jun 2015 19:49:18 +. Datasource
```

I tried with all trusty cloud images currently on https://cloud-
images.ubuntu.com/trusty/ which as of now are 20150313, 20150531,
20150601 and 20150602, the current points to 20150531. The same problem
occurs.

Current precise, utopic and vivid images work just fine, as well as
fedora and coreos images. But trusty images have this issue.

However the very SAME trusty images (untouched) were working about two
weeks ago. I tracked all little changes we made on our OpenStack
deployment to see if they were somehow related but reverting them did no
good.

I'm currently not entirely sure there is a bug on cloud-init, however it
can't be anywhere else since cloud-init from all other images work like
a charm.

Cloud-init v. 0.7.5 finished at Wed, 03 Jun 2015 19:49:18 +. Datasource
DataSourceOpenStack [net,ver=2].  Up 13.66 seconds
```
I tried with all trusty cloud images currently on https://cloud-
images.ubuntu.com/trusty/ which as of now are 20150313, 20150531,
20150601 and 20150602, the current points to 20150531. The same problem
occurs.
Current precise, utopic and vivid images work just fine, as well as
fedora and coreos images. But trusty images have this issue.
However the very SAME trusty images (untouched) were working about two
weeks ago. I tracked all little changes we made on our OpenStack
deployment to see if they were somehow related but reverting them did no
good.
I'm currently not entirely sure there is a bug on cloud-init, however it
can't be anywhere else since cloud-init from all other images work like
a charm.
[Bug 1441210] Re: Roboto fonts make printer crash (fonts-android)
2015-06-03 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I have successfully installed fonts-roboto 1:4.3-3ubuntu1.2 (and fonts-
droid 1:4.3-3ubuntu1.2) from trusty-proposed. A more recent set of
Roboto fonts was installed, and fontconfig behaved as expected. The bug
reporter has previously (comment #12) confirmed that the change actually
addresses the reported issue.
[Bug 1371634] Re: block devices appear twice
2015-06-03 Thread Jeff Lane
Sorry for the vague comment earlier.  What I meant was that, from a
certification point of view, I can't certify a system that ships by
default with dual RAID cards in a multipath configuration when
Multipathing in Ubuntu doesn't work.  That leads to a scenario where,
out of the box on a fresh install you can destroy your own root
filesystem by formatting a drive that you don't realize is actually your
root fs...
In other words, it is very easy to destroy data accidentally if you're
unaware that sde and sda are the same physical device, as you would
reasonably expect those to be separate devices.
[Bug 1449051] Re: Upower doesn't handle bluetooth mice properly
2015-06-03 Thread Astor
redfox7691, i just installed new version of upower on 15.04.
all you need to do is:
1. download sources from 15.10 repo:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/wily/+source/upower
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/upower_0.99.3.orig.tar.xz)
2. unpack archive
3. check: you must have installed libusb-1.0-dev, and some dependencies.
4. ./configure
(by configuring sources - you can see what dependencies is actually you need,
and just install -dev version of it)
5. sudo make
6. sudo make install
7. reboot and enjoy brand new icon for M557 mouse in the top right corner of
screen.
Thanks to Martin, and other contrubutors.
[Bug 1451613] Re: [regression] Unity/compiz crashes when locking screen
** Description changed:
  [ Impact ]
  A crash is occurring for many users of Trusty when the screen is
  locking.
  [ Test Case ]
  Lock the screen.
  [ Regression Potential ]
+
+ The debdiff is found at
+
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1451613/+attachment/4409311/+files/unity.revert-3810.debdiff
  -
  Original Description:
  Since a recent update (around April 29th), sometimes (approximately once a
day) when I lock my computer screen (CTRL+L or using system menu) the computer
freeze for a while (2 to 30 seconds) before showing the login screen.
  Then when I try to unlock the screen I need to enter my password twice (with
no error message after the first try).
  Once logged in, all applications are closed. Uptime is still running (since
no reboot) and services too (with no interruption).
  Looking at the apport.log file (see attached) it seems that when I try
  to lock the screen, compiz crashes.
  I've attached the compiz crash file too (_usr_bin_compiz.1000.crash) but
  without the 100Mo data of base64 core dumb…
  I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 AMD64.
  Graphics drivers: nvidia-331.113 (tested)
Can you test this kernel and see if it exhibits the bug?
Note, with this kernel you need to install both the linux-image and
linux-image-extra .deb packages.
I can hear sound, and the left/right channels work correctly, but any sound
[Bug 1430918] Re: Enable/disable child scopes error
2015-06-03 Thread Kyle Nitzsche
I am seeing the same issue when I add a setting to an agg scope and
change it. The setting I add is NOT enable/disable child scope (as those
now work and are auto added). The setting is a simple list  type
[cardinality]
type = list
defaultValue = 1
displayValues = 5;10;15
displayName = Child scope results
terminate called without an active exception
After this ^ happens on setting change  return to scope, the user needs
to pull to refresh the scope, and the setting (and all else) works fine.
** Summary changed:
- Enable/disable child scopes error
+ Change setting requires manual refresh
** Description changed:
+ See comment 12 below for updated description. Summary is that changing a
+ Original Description:
  Enabling and disabling child scopes from settings in an agg scope often
causes an error that results in blank display that is sometimes difficult to
recover from.
  For example, l launched the Music scope, then disabled 7 digital from
  settings, then enabled it.
  I got the following in log:
  phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ tail -F .cache/upstart/scope-registry.log
[Bug 1459748] Re: libvirt.libvirtError: internal error: Child process () unexpected exit status 1: qemu-img: Image creation needs a size parameter
2015-06-03 Thread Chris J Arges
I don't think this is related to qemu, it may be a libvirt change.
A simpler reproducer:
echo volumenametest/nametargetformat
type=qcow2//targetcapacity0/capacity/volume  vol.xml
virsh vol-create uvtool vol.xml
shows the error:
error: internal error: Child process (/usr/bin/qemu-img create -f qcow2 -o
compat=0.10 /var/lib/uvtool/libvirt/images/test) unexpected exit status 1:
qemu-img: /var/lib/uvtool/libvirt/images/test: Image creation needs a size
parameter
However if you run the same command in an older version this works.
The qemu-img command fails in all versions, so I suspect a libvirt change.
Re: [Bug 1461668] [NEW] ir-keytable presses recognised but not working
2015-06-03 Thread Gregor Jasny
Hello,
Could you please share your mapping file?
What is the result if you swap the key code for up and back so that hitting
up would generate a backspace and vice versa?
Thanks,
Gregor
There are some known glitches with highlighting, but I'm not sure I
Let's start with the simplest one: no highlighting, just
Shift+Page{Up,Down}. How does the bug occur exactly? How can I reproduce
it? (I'm using these keys all the time and never had a problem, except
for https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160127).
[Bug 1461715] [NEW] System freezes when using Nvidia FX5200 card
2015-06-03 Thread Carl Englund
Public bug reported:
I'm not sure if this should instead be tagged on linux/kernel or not.
Blacklisting the nouveau module keeps system going, otherwise it crashes
after a short while of usage.
At some point I was lucky and managed to switch to console before the
system froze completely (seems to be a second or two when it slows down
before freeze). I saw some messages about the GPU freezing and switching
to something else..software rendering maybe? But then everything had
stopped and I could do nothing except reset.
Re: [Bug 1459832] Re: install failed; default 8GB virtual disk insufficient for installation
2015-06-03 Thread ladamo
Hi Phillip,
Thanks for your response.
I¹m working on a MacMini i7 OS X 10.10 with plenty of resources.
I was attempting to install ubuntu as a virtual machine under Parallels
Desktop 9.
I have limited experience with earlier ubuntu versions operating on other
machines either under Parallels or VirtualBox.  Always as a guest OS.
I took the defaults that were presented, except for memory where I
selected 2GB from a large recommended range. Included 8GB partitioned
disk, as I recall.
First time, a warning appeared, that of 3 listed allocations of disk space
for the installation, the second item was 2.65 as I recall, and 3.5 was
desired.  But I didn¹t know how to change these individual allocations.
So I tried to proceed, regardless.  Didn¹t get anywhere.
Second time I increased the overall size of the partitioned disk for the
VM.  In the Parallels configuration screen it is described as up to 64GB
expandable.
I am just attempting to open the VM now. It reports a system error. The
mouse only exists on the ubuntu desktop. I had to use a command-tab to get
back to this message.
That¹s all I can tell you about it.
There is another issue that showed up that makes ubuntu unusable in any
case.  That is:  The Display defaults to a very low resolution, and I
cannot change it. So low that one cannot ever get to most of the control
buttons in any window.
With u 14.04LTS the default display is 1440 x 900, and that works fine.
But more to the point, one can change the resolution in that version.
Thanks,
Lou
[Bug 1455482] Re: Multipath: upgrade multipath-tools to upstream
2015-06-03 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
The 2 options are drop or rebase.
Regarding drop, the reason to ask Ubuntu is because Debian just
released, and it would break w/ their release contents, which adds more
work in updates/maintainence. AFAIK, Ubuntu releases are more
independent of each other in the updates sense (please correct me if
that's wrong).
Regarding rebase, definitely ideal and no problems expected w/ Debian.
Ritesh (maintainer) has been friendly and reasonable w/ patch
submission/discussion, and the constraint there is upstream-first, for
which a downstream-patch rebase is not a problem, and actually helps w/
the backport work.
I'll follow up w/ Ritesh in a BTS bug, so that may eventually stream down to W.
Thanks.
Re: [Bug 1460062] Re: Scrollback with Shift-PageUp Shift-PageDown does not refresh screen
2015-06-03 Thread David Kastrup
Egmont Koblinger egm...@gmail.com writes:
 Let's start with the simplest one: no highlighting, just
 Shift+Page{Up,Down}. How does the bug occur exactly? How can I reproduce
 it? (I'm using these keys all the time and never had a problem, except
 for https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160127).
Basically, when using Shift+Page{Up,Down}, the display tends to lack one
keypress behind.  So if you change direction, it appears as if the first
move is in the wrong direction.
It may well be relevant that I am using Cinnamon as my desktop.  Maybe
it is less generous with expose or other events.
It also helps if there is no other action on the screen (no other
window).  My terminal window is always vertically maximized and there
are several terminal tabs in it.  It's not perfectly reproducible, but
doing S-PageUp and S-PageDown several times in a row is rather likely to
trigger it.  Sometimes the cursor blinking causes a refresh, so it's
also more likely with the cursor off-screen.
Re: [Bug 1440174] Re: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel
2015-06-03 Thread Dr JD Wallach
Hi,
I have found a workaround for this bug:
Start the machine from scratch with all the USB devices plugged in.
Wait for the Grub menu to show on the screen.
Using the keyboard select Ubuntu as the operating system to load.
Immediately after selecting the Ubuntu OS, disconnect the USB mouse (be
it direct USB plug-in or remote).
When the Ubuntu login screen comes up it will be possible to use the
keyboard to enter the user-name and the password.
Once the Ubuntu environment is established, reconnect the USB mouse.,
and use it
normally.
Problem solved, although a bit annoying.
Hope this helps.
