[Bug 1455482] Re: Multipath: upgrade multipath-tools to upstream
Mathieu, One of the things where Debian differs from upstream (but not new) is to stick with mpath[0-9]+ rather than mpath[a-z]+. This is in patch 0002, iirc. Can we switch over or (easier) rebase/move it toward the end of the series? If it's not possible to switch over (we already know where to fix things for d-i), I'd ask to at least move that patch to the end of the series, and rebase it when required. It's currently an inconvenient when backporting patches from upstream (many of which are rooted in a change that it complicates to do). I believe the work to make the change is worth it / lesser than that work for backporting due to keeping it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455482 Title: Multipath: upgrade multipath-tools to upstream To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1455482/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1461668] [NEW] ir-keytable presses recognised but not working
Public bug reported: I'm using ir-keytable to map button presses on a remote control to keyboard presses. I'm using an old Apple remote and after scanning for the keycodes I've produced a keymap file which is loaded by ir-keytable. However, I have only succeeded in getting the arrow keys and enter working (KEY_UP, KEY_DOWN, KEY_LEFT, KEY_RIGHT, KEY_ENTER). All the other keypresses that I've tried are recognised by ir-keytable, but are not being passed to the system. For example, the KEY_BACKSPACE which I need. Running ir-keytable -t and pressing the relevant remote button I get: 1433359068.641206: event type EV_KEY(0x01) key_down: KEY_BACKSPACE(0x0001) 1433359068.641206: event type EV_SYN(0x00). 1433359068.641230: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x77e1c03d 1433359068.641230: event type EV_SYN(0x00). 1433359068.641235: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x77e1c03d 1433359068.641235: event type EV_SYN(0x00). But it never works as backspace. For example, if I open a text editor and use the arrow or enter keys, I can see the cursor moving around. But the backspace does not work. Also any other keymap that I've tried (e.g. numbers, letters) does not work. I'm using ir-keytable 1.6.0-2 in xubuntu 15.04. My system is a NUC5i5RYHK, the IR driver is nuvoton-cir. The output of ir-keytable is: Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event3) with: Driver nuvoton-cir, table rc-rc6-mce Supported protocols: NEC RC-5 RC-6 JVC SONY SANYO LIRC RC-5-SZ SHARP XMP other Enabled protocols: NEC RC-5 RC-6 JVC SONY LIRC Name: Nuvoton w836x7hg Infrared Remote bus: 25, vendor/product: 1050:00c3, version: 0x0033 Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 125 ms ** Affects: v4l-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1461668 Title: ir-keytable presses recognised but not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/v4l-utils/+bug/1461668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1445195] Re: [Hyper-V] Kernel patches for storvsc
@jrp I have tried to discover if there were any differences between the backup that failed and the other ones. I noticed this one thing. Before or during backup (cannot recall exactly atm) a 'composer install' process was running. Composer is a php package manager. It downloads and deploys many small files on the filesystem (download of multiple tar.gz files that are being unpacked). This machine normally does nothing more than serving http requests. It is the opposite of a high-load server. So the composer process is an outlier compared to the usual operations. Maybe this helps to reproduce the io pattern. Thanks anyway for the work already. It makes a difference for sure. Hope there will be a final solution anytime soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445195 Title: [Hyper-V] Kernel patches for storvsc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1445195/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1451613] Re: [regression] Unity/compiz crashes when locking screen
Hello Scaler, or anyone else affected, Accepted unity into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/7.2.5+14.04.20150603-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. [Bug 1456628] Re: DBUS API doesn't prevent confined apps from passing paths to files without access
This does not constitute an emergency update and as such it should follow any other criteria for OTA. It is marked Critical, so it seems a candidate, but it shouldn't be rushed (ie, it should follow landing procedures, QA signoff, etc). I think if the timing is ok with the release team, targeting OTA-4 is fine, but if it isn't, OTA-5 is ok. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456628 Title: DBUS API doesn't prevent confined apps from passing paths to files without access To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1456628/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1371634] Re: block devices appear twice
Ok, so Oleg and I were looking at a solution, and figured we'd give the maybe it just works path a try. I installed a system, it installed onto /dev/sda (as this bug shows). I then 'apt-get install multipath-tools-boot' I rebooted, with the 'root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs' on the cmdline (as normal). It died in initramfs unable to find root. The full bootlog at http://paste.ubuntu.com/11547135/ . The multipath-tools-boot package puts some code into the initramfs (/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/multipath) that does this: | if [ -x /sbin/kpartx -a -x /sbin/dmsetup ]; then | /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec /sbin/kpartx -a -p -part /dev/null | fi That looks all well and good. In the initramfs I did some debugging: (initramfs) /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A9A0 (252, 1) 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A920 (252, 2) 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980 (252, 5) 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A960 (252, 3) 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A9C0 (252, 4) 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A940 (252, 0) And then further debug, I find that dmsetup is calling kpartx seemingly correctly, but kpartx is I think messing up. I was able to fix this by booting with: root=UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba ro console=hvc0 break=post-multipath Then doing: (initramfs) cat /tmp/myprog #!/bin/sh tgt=$1 fixed=$(echo $tgt | sed 's, ,\\x20,g') { echo input: '$tgt' echo fixed: '$fixed' echo /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed ret=$? echo $ret } /tmp/log 21 exit $ret (initramfs) rm /tmp/log (initramfs) /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec /bin/myprog (initramfs) cat /tmp/log input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A9A0' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9A0' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9A0 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A920' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A920' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A920 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980 add map 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980-part1 (252:6): 0 16384 linear /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980 2048 add map 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980-part2 (252:7): 0 554268639 linear /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980 18432 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A960' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A960' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A960 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A9C0' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9C0' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9C0 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A940' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A940' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A940 Then ... after that, I have the devices I needed: (initramfs) blkid /dev/sda2: LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba TYPE=ext4 /dev/sdg2: LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba TYPE=ext4 /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980-part2: LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba TYPE=ext4 I exited from there, the remaining boot took over, and mounted the device mapper device as /. All happy. So, if there weren't a bug in kpartx we'd have a very easy solution in just installing the multipath-tools-boot package. That said, it looks like user_friendly_names in /etc/multipath.conf might be relevant. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1371634 Title: block devices appear twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curtin/+bug/1371634/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was able to fix this by booting with: root=UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba ro console=hvc0 break=post-multipath Then doing: (initramfs) cat /tmp/myprog #!/bin/sh tgt=$1 fixed=$(echo $tgt | sed 's, ,\\x20,g') { echo input: '$tgt' echo fixed: '$fixed' echo /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part $fixed ret=$? echo $ret } /tmp/log 21 exit $ret (initramfs) rm /tmp/log (initramfs) /sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec /bin/myprog (initramfs) cat /tmp/log input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A9A0' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9A0' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9A0 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A920' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A920' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A920 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980 add map 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980-part1 (252:6): 0 16384 linear /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980 2048 add map 1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A980-part2 (252:7): 0 554268639 linear /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980 18432 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A960' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A960' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A960 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A9C0' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9C0' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A9C0 0 input: '/dev/mapper/1IBM IPR-0 5EC2A940' fixed: '/dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A940' /sbin/kpartx -a -v -p -part /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A940 Then ... after that, I have the devices I needed: (initramfs) blkid /dev/sda2: LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba TYPE=ext4 /dev/sdg2: LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba TYPE=ext4 /dev/mapper/1IBM\x20\x20\x20\x20\x20IPR-0\x20\x20\x205EC2A980-part2: LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs UUID=f7c3b31d-3411-420e-a57d-9318e43248ba TYPE=ext4 I exited from there, the remaining boot took over, and mounted the device mapper device as /. All happy. So, if there weren't a bug in kpartx we'd have a very easy solution in just installing the multipath-tools-boot package. Sorry for the vague comment earlier. What I meant was that, from a certification point of view, I can't certify a system that ships by default with dual RAID cards in a multipath configuration when Multipathing in Ubuntu doesn't work. That leads to a scenario where, out of the box on a fresh install you can destroy your own root filesystem by formatting a drive that you don't realize is actually your root fs... [Bug 1459748] Re: libvirt.libvirtError: internal error: Child process () unexpected exit status 1: qemu-img: Image creation needs a size parameter

There are some known glitches with highlighting, but I'm not sure I understand your situation. Let's start with the simplest one: no highlighting, just Shift+Page{Up,Down}. [Bug 1461715] [NEW] System freezes when using Nvidia FX5200 card
Public bug reported: I'm not sure if this should instead be tagged on linux/kernel or not. Blacklisting the nouveau module keeps system going, otherwise it crashes after a short while of usage. At some point I was lucky and managed to switch to console before the system froze completely (seems to be a second or two when it slows down before freeze). Re: [Bug 1459832] Re: install failed; default 8GB virtual disk insufficient for installation
Hi Phillip, Thanks for your response. I¹m working on a MacMini i7 OS X 10.10 with plenty of resources. I was attempting to install ubuntu as a virtual machine under Parallels Desktop 9. I have limited experience with earlier ubuntu versions operating on other machines either under Parallels or VirtualBox. Always as a guest OS. I took the defaults that were presented, except for memory where I selected 2GB from a large recommended range. Included 8GB partitioned disk, as I recall. First time, a warning appeared, that of 3 listed allocations of disk space for the installation, the second item was 2.65 as I recall, and 3.5 was desired. But I didn¹t know how to change these individual allocations. So I tried to proceed, regardless. Didn¹t get anywhere. Second time I increased the overall size of the partitioned disk for the VM. In the Parallels configuration screen it is described as up to 64GB expandable. I am just attempting to open the VM now. It reports a system error. The mouse only exists on the ubuntu desktop. I had to use a command-tab to get back to this message. That¹s all I can tell you about it. There is another issue that showed up that makes ubuntu unusable in any case. That is: The Display defaults to a very low resolution, and I cannot change it. So low that one cannot ever get to most of the control buttons in any window. With u 14.04LTS the default display is 1440 x 900, and that works fine. But more to the point, one can change the resolution in that version. The 2 options are drop or rebase. Regarding drop, the reason to ask Ubuntu is because Debian just released, and it would break w/ their release contents, which adds more work in updates/maintainence. (I'm using these keys all the time and never had a problem, except for https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160127). Basically, when using Shift+Page{Up,Down}, the display tends to lack one keypress behind. So if you change direction, it appears as if the first move is in the wrong direction. It may well be relevant that I am using Cinnamon as my desktop. Maybe it is less generous with expose or other events. It also helps if there is no other action on the screen (no other window). My terminal window is always vertically maximized and there are several terminal tabs in it. It's not perfectly reproducible, but doing S-PageUp and S-PageDown several times in a row is rather likely to trigger it. Re: [Bug 1440174] Re: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel
Hi, I have found a workaround for this bug: Start the machine from scratch with all the USB devices plugged in. Wait for the Grub menu to show on the screen. Using the keyboard select Ubuntu as the operating system to load. Immediately after selecting the Ubuntu OS, disconnect the USB mouse (be it direct USB plug-in or remote). When the Ubuntu login screen comes up it will be possible to use the keyboard to enter the user-name and the password. Once the Ubuntu environment is established, reconnect the USB mouse., and use it normally. Problem solved, although a bit annoying. Hope this helps. -- Dr Joseph D.
