[Bug 1476475] Re: gnuradio doesn't build on armhf due to unneeded dependencies

2015-07-21 Thread Logan Rosen
gnuradio is now properly building on armhf in Wily. There shouldn't be
any conflicts in terms of a stable release update, so I'll start working
on that tonight.

[Bug 1476907] [NEW] Abrowser 39 crashes (segmentation fault).

2015-07-21 Thread Tyler Johnson
Public bug reported:

This is the same bug that has appeared on the Trisquel GNU/Linux forums:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/abrowser-behaves-strangely-after-system-update

I've tested Abrowser on three machine. On one of them (running Ubuntu
14.04 x64) , everything is fine. On the other two (both running 14.04
x32), there is an almost instant segmentation fault. Interestingly, the
segmentation fault is NOT instant if I load a non-default profile using
something like:

mkdir ~/Desktop/FF-Temp ; abroswer --profile ~/Desktop/FF-Temp

Although visiting certain website (DuckDuckGo, Startpage, Google) gives
me the crash. So, perhaps visiting pages that execute certain HTML
elements, javascript, etc. is what is setting this bug off.

PS: for whatever it may be worth, after finding, downloading, and
installing a .deb package from the FSF mirror of the Trisquel repos, I
can confirm that this bug doesn't effect version 38, just 39.

[Bug 1476869] [NEW] System Freeze

2015-07-21 Thread Juan Robles
Public bug reported:

Good Afternoon

I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS in my computer (Lenovo G40-45, 6.7 GB RAM, AMD
A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics × 4 processor and Gallium 0.4
on AMD MULLINS for graphics), I was using google chrome ver Versión
43.0.2357.134 (64-bit) for check my email and watch some videos, when
suddenly, the system completely froze, except for my mouse : I could not
change desktop, open a terminal or do anything else, so I had to hard
reboot the PC.

This doesn't happen very often (this happened again one time last
month), but I don't want to damage the computer with these hard reboots
, I checked the kernel log, and around the time this happened, and I saw
something about a lockup on CPU3 and later on CPU2, I think.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1476891] [NEW] Running unity8 repeatly cause QML Image: Cannot open: ... error

2015-07-21 Thread handsome_feng
Public bug reported:

When I test unity8 through qtcreate or run_on_device.sh script, I often
got an error something like QML Image: Cannot open
:file:///home/feng/lp/unity8/qml/Launcher/graphics/focused_app_arrow.png
, and the icon can't open will disappeared on unity8. This usually
happened after running unity8 more than 3 times.

I use the newest code in lp:unity8, and now the version number is 1869.

[Bug 1471029] Re: ELF programs with R_386_RELATIVE blocks are badly mapped into memory

2015-07-21 Thread Douglas Bagnall
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected ec2-images vivid

** Description changed:

Running the Samba autobuild tests on a 15.04 openstack image results in
  a segfault in this command:

  /usr/bin/xsltproc --nonet -o default/docs-xml/manpages/smb.conf.5
  /home/ubuntu/autobuild/b22271/samba/docs-xml/xslt/man.xsl default/docs-
  xml/manpages/smb.conf.5.xml

I reported this upstream as a bug in xsltproc, but it was found to be
impossible to reproduce using upstream source on the openstack instance:

  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=751764

  Comment 8 (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=751764#c8) is
  particularly informative.

The stack trace below shows the segfault actually occurs in libxml's
xpath evaluation functions. I see no difference between xpath.c in
  upstream 2.9.2 and Ubuntu's version.

[Bug 1470091] Re: update for V3 kernel bits and improved multiple fan slice support

2015-07-21 Thread Andy Whitcroft
** Description changed:

Fan V2 to V3 transition plan

Currently we have V2 Fan kernel patches paired with an
/etc/defaults/ubuntu-fan based single fan mapping setup. We want to
transition to both V3 Fan kernel patches with fanctl based configuration
allowing multiple fans to be configured together.

The new V3 kernel bits fix a significant limitation wherein we could not
have multiple slices of different overlay address ranges on the same local
address. This update introduces an incompatible kernel interface against
a different device. The new functionality is a full superset of the old.

The new V3 kernel bits require updated iproute2 patches to handle the
new netlink form carrying the expanded map forms.

In order to manage multiple Fan devices we are updating ubuntu-fan to use
the new fanctl command line tool and a new fan specific configuration file.

This plan assumes we are not wedded to the kernel interface, that the
supported API is the /etc/defaults/ubuntu-fan fan configuration.

  Considerations
  ==
We are unable to depend on kernel features, as we have no meaninful
  dependencies to kernel versions.

We need to change the primary configuration file and format for ubuntu-fan
package to allow multiple slices of multiple fans to be configured
  together.

We have V2 kernel bits in the wild. We have V2 iproute in the wild.

  Steps
  =
  1) update fanctl to support both the V2 and V3 kernel interfaces as we cannot
-depend on a kernel version meaningfully.
+    depend on a kernel version meaningfully.
  2) update iproute2 to support configuring both V2 and V3 kernel interfaces.
  3) update ubuntu-fan with the updated fanctl, supporting migration
-of the /etc/default/fan contents to /etc/network/fan (or directly
-handling that form), and depending on the updated iproute2 bits.
+    of the /etc/default/fan contents to /etc/network/fan (or directly
+    handling that form), and depending on the updated iproute2 bits.
  4) release updated iproute2 bits.
  5) release updated ubuntu-fan bits.
  6) release updated kernel bits (V3 kernel module).

  Testing
  ===
Need to test old and new kernels with old and new ubuntu-fan levels.
We obviously do not expect the old userspace to work with the new kernels,
  but it should fail obviously.

[Bug 1467640] Re: No mobile data connection for mako on wily

2015-07-21 Thread K1773R
#25 nor #19 does fix the issue that you cant receive/send
calls/messages.

If cellular data/wifi isnt connected, its sill an issue!
So we have a weird dependcy that we either need wifi/cellular?!

You cant force people who use prepaid systems to cost them alot of
money. If they dont enable cellular data they cant use the basic
functions of the phone!

Im on OTA5 @ mako with the patch applied manually.

[Bug 1476705] Re: postscript printer hideously slow in some cases (pdftops)

2015-07-21 Thread bruno
Correction: I get 303 Mb output (data which would go to the printer)
with pdftops (the default) on my test queue. If I switch to pdftocairo,
I get a 2 Mb file output and the simple PDF prints much quickly.

I have to do more tests since THIS sample file prints faster with
pdftocairo but others don't...

It seems that passing the LanguageLevel (in PPD) to 2 also helps.

[Bug 1449731] Re: [regression 14.10-15.04] Kate can no longer edit files over ftp

2015-07-21 Thread Gilles Turgeon
... and removing %U from the Exec= line...

It's ok for opening the file. But when you save the file, the
modification affects only the clocal copy of the files, not the orginal
one on ftp site. The file on ftp site is updated when kate close.
