Tim [2015-08-15 10:28 -]: Martin, of course universe is there in the apt indexes, it has always been there so far as I remember. If that's true for Ubuntu GNOME, then all is good. [Bug 1481565] Re: Sound settings mix checkbox and toggle widgets
Switches and checkboxes are used for different things: switches for noun phrases that can be considered on/off, checkboxes for verb or adjective phrases that are agreed to or not. Unfortunately, switches and checkboxes currently look very similar. This bug will be fixed when checkboxes are moved to the left of their labels, or when the visual design of switches is changed so that they no longer contain a checkmark. ** Package changed: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) = ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1481565 Title: Sound settings mix checkbox and toggle widgets To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1481565/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1484991] Re: Too hard to find results in the log files
Printing the summary at the end of logs indeed does sound like a good improvement, especially if a package has several tests and not the last one failed. [Bug 1485301] [NEW] [xserver-xorg] mouse cursor stuck
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, when not moving the USB mouse, it takes around a seconds and the mouse cursor gets stuck. After pushing the left, middle or right mouse button, the mouse cursor can be moved again. [weremouse@moonstudio ~]$ lsb_release -rd;uname -rm Description:Ubuntu Wily Werewolf (development branch) Release:15.10 4.1.0-3-lowlatency x86_64 This happens for the generic kernel too. The issue appears already after startup, when lightdm is running and continues for openbox sessions and for jwm sessions too. FWIW while openbox is ok, jwm can't maximize windows. Perhaps the mouse and maximize issues are related. X unlikely is the culprit, but since it happens when X is running, I filed the bug against X. FWIW neither the kernels nor X, excepted of a view mesa packages, were upgraded before the issue appeared. It happened either after an upgrade or after removing unneeded packages from a minimalist install from the server ISO. I removed packages such for apport, clamav, grub and other unwanted packages. While we're on it, if you want me to post log files, mention the files you need and I'll post them. I'll not use apport. [Bug 1485321] [NEW] Firefox 40 blank with no menu
Public bug reported: Please do not ignore this bug report because it has not been submitted via Apport. Due to the severe issue with Firefox 40 I cannot currently complete the Apport submission process so am having to report this manually. Firefox was upgraded from 39.0.3+build2-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 to 40.0+build4-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 yesterday evening (15/08/2015). Trying to run Firefox in safe mode results in a small window titled Firefox Safe Mode which contains just grey. When it is used to open help in the Xubuntu applications menu (no help displayed, only blank grey window) and the top right X window close symbol is clicked the 'Confirm close' window appears but it too is grey and has no content and I can only terminate the application using Task Manager. The same happens when I run Apport when it reaches the stage where Firefox is invoked. This may not be relevant but tcpdump shows when it was first opened Firefox 40 did communicate to ec2-54-200-163-149.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com so it is capable of connections. I will try to provide any further information requested as best I can. If I can provide the requested information via e-mail that would be preferable as Firefox is not operational and if the previous version is reverted to it will not exhibit the bug. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485321 Title: Firefox 40 blank with no menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1485321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1360840] Re: Checkbox should provide an exclusiveGroup property similar to upstream Qt CheckBox
Allowing ExclusiveGroup for checkboxes is a design mistake in Qt. Checkboxes should never be simply mutually exclusive, because people understand them as being independent. http://www.nngroup.com/articles /checkboxes-vs-radio-buttons/ Checkboxes should seldom ever be related to each other at all. For example, in a set of formatting checkboxes, [_] Bold [_] Italic [_] Underline [_] Double underline, the last two might be mutually exclusive, but otherwise they're all independent. The real problem here is that the Ubuntu toolkit is missing radio buttons (bug 1211866), so developers are forced to confuse users by using checkboxes instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1360840 Title: Checkbox should provide an exclusiveGroup property similar to upstream Qt CheckBox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1360840/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1447570] Re: Unity suffers severe performance drops occasially
Well, I think that we can rule out the proprietary Spotify client, as I haven't been able to use it recently because of a missing (deprecated) dependency. My current 15.04 installation is fairly new, as I returned to 14.04.2 for a while, but decided again to use the newest development version. I have to say that I don't see this bug that much often as I used to, I only came across it once throughout two weeks of everyday usage. I only had free software running then, available in the main repositories, namely Firefox, Nautilus, Terminal, qBittorrent. I started to close windows in this order: qBittorrent, Nautilus, Firefox. After closing Firefox, the performance was normal again. Note that I left the terminal window open. I am using the recommended proprietary Nvidia drivers, and I am affected by an another bug (having thick black borders around GUI elements), which occurs after a sleep/resume cycle. I will do some experiments to find out whether this bug is also connected to suspending the system. That's all for now. I would like to offer some of my free time for further investigation, I will just need some tips on how to proceed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447570 Title: Unity suffers severe performance drops occasially To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1447570/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
