[Bug 1500742] [NEW] Downloading a file requires its mime-type in advance
Public bug reported: On touch devices, this is what happens when a user clicks on a link that triggers a download, or triggers one from the context menu: - oxide issues a downloadRequested signal with a URL, and optionally headers, a suggested filename and a mime type - the browser instantiates a Downloader component and calls its downloadMimeType() method, which converts the passed mime type to a well-known content type (e.g. ContentType.Pictures) and instantiates a SingleDownload component, passing it the headers and content type - the SingleDownload instance, once its gets assigned a unique download ID by the DownloadManager, shows a ContentPeerPicker on screen which uses the passed in content type to prompt the user to choose a target application that will own the downloaded file - the actual downloading of the file doesn’t start until the user has picked a target application This works well if the mime type is known in advance, and can be trusted (indeed a server can lie about the mime types of files it serves). In several cases, the mime type isn’t known in advance (or cannot be trusted), and the browser will outright refuse to download the file because it doesn’t know which application to transfer ownership to. There must be a way to decouple the actual downloading from the target application selection, so that the mime type is not mandatory information, and users can pick which application to transfer ownership to after the file has been downloaded. ** Affects: content-hub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ubuntu-download-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Also affects: content-hub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ubuntu-download-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500742 Title: Downloading a file requires its mime-type in advance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/content-hub/+bug/1500742/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1448937] Re: LibreOffice has serious kerning issues with characters' display of font, bold, italic
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 trusty ubuntu ** Description changed: I run in to distorted text in LibreOffice, depending on zoom level. At first I thought it was a LO-bug, but now I have found that I don't get this issues when I run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it might be a problem in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon HD 8600M series in a Lenovo S540. The attached file shows an example of the bug that I had in Calc. The bottom right is the 'normal' text. Three lines, with the bottom one in bold. Depending on the zoom level, the text is distorted in many ways: bold / italic / font (appearance). Some extra information: -This happens in all LO-apps I use: Calc, Writer, Impress. -I don't have a clear way of reproducing it. The apps normally start out perfectly fine. After a while this can happen, not always. Risk factors seem to include having multiple LO-files open, especially between different apps. -It is not always that the 100% zoom level is ok. That can be distorted too. -This never ever happens in any other app / program I use. If this is unlikely to be caused by the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, I apologize for reporting it here. If you need additional information, please let me know, I will be happy to provide. [Bug 1448939] Re: tint2 taskbar boots irregularly with xserver-xorg-video-ati, boots fine with proprietary driver
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 trusty ubuntu ** Description changed: I run a little taskbar app called tint2. I boot it at startup, but about 50% of the time it isn't visible after booting. The other 50% it is. So I can reboot or logout/login until it sticks. At first I thought it was a bug in tint2, but now I have found that I don't get this issues when I run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it might be a problem in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon HD 8600M series in a Lenovo S540. Additional note: when it does not display and I power off the computer, it is displayed for a brief moment before the computer shuts down. That makes me think that it is actually a display problem, not a problem of tint2 not booting at all. If this is unlikely to be caused by the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, I apologize for reporting it here. If you need additional information, please let me know, I will be happy to provide. [Bug 1404900] Re: qtcreator hangs when copying to and pasting from clipboard
Short update: my initial optimism was unfortunately unfounded, the bug exists as it has for a long time now. Helgefan's description seems to be accurate: the problem arises when one presses Ctrl and then hovers over a symbol. Ctrl+click on that symbol immediately proceeds to the declaration of this symbol, but hovering with the mouse cursor causes the symbol text to change color to blue and underlined, and the system will hang with 100% CPU load for dozens of seconds. It would be very helpful if I could learn whether Ctrl+mouse hover should trigger some action, what this action is supposed to be, and whether this trigger can be configured out of my system somehow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1404900 Title: qtcreator hangs when copying to and pasting from clipboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtcreator/+bug/1404900/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

could you give the output of "dpkg -l | packagekit"? there was a buggy/incompatible version in wily-proposed, which didn't migrate to wily and got deleted, but if you are using wily-proposed you maybe got it... [Bug 1500719] [NEW] Gimp crashes if one closes the window before export completes
Public bug reported: To reproduce: 1. Create an image 2. Create a second image 2. Press Ctrl+Shift+E to export (but don't export yet) 3. Close the window with the image that you are exporting. 4. Complete the export save. What happens: GIMP crashes after a few seconds of trying to figure stuff out. [Bug 1492170] Re: Screen flicker and resolution problems after hot-plug
As I said, display was so badly broken with that kernel that I was unable to test, though it might have been co-incidence - it has always been rather temperamental with all the 4.1 and 4.2 kernels I have tested. In my few short tests I was unable to get the external monitor to display anything at all while the X server was active either with or without the panel open, though a VT worked. gnome-display-settings (or whatever it is called) clearly thought that the monitor was enabled though. I will give it another test next time I have to reboot anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492170 Title: Screen flicker and resolution problems after hot-plug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1492170/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Adding the `bind` package. MAAS simply uses the value from the BIND configuration files in order to determine what to configure in MAAS. [Bug 1499746] Re: Early Syslinux Boot Error in pendrive made with the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator
If you are using Ubuntu 15.10 Beta 2 (Wily), then the workaround is to manually download syslinux_6.03+dfsg-5ubuntu1 debian package from Vivid repository, extract syslinux binary and use it instead. syslinux doesn't have other dependencies and other files used when creating a bootable usb (viz.mbr.bin) are identical between Vivid and Wily. The error is primarily due to ldlinux.sys (which gets generated from syslinux). ldlinux.sys generated from Vivid syslinux doesn't have the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1499746 Title: Early Syslinux Boot Error in pendrive made with the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1499746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
