[Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with gcc 5
15.201-0ubuntu2~15.10.2 doesn't work for me. I have a Radeon HD5770 and I still get a black screen and a constantly louder GPU Fan when booting with FGLRX. Also did a amdconfig --initial like I did in the past with many Ubuntu versions. But this time it won't help. Came to Wily from Vivid. When booting with propertery driver and getting the blank screen, the system seems to be deadlocked. MagicSysRq (RAISUB) won't work and I had to push the hardware reset button. [Bug 1440210]
Created attachment 95164 attachment-15798-0.html Most probably correct, except did not have problems until recent Sid upgrades. Situation is getting worse, cannot even get plasmashell up without a freeze, writing this on a live CD. I suspect this was from the disk, but if that cache is on a disk, it is not on the suspect disk, and I am beginning to suspect smartctl more than the disks.I would like to get back up, make sure xrender is chosen and disable all desktop effects. Should be better behaved. The kwin fix was OK until I rebooted, then plasmashell would not start so removed the file. [Bug 1440210]
Sorry for the mess. Must remember to specify plain text each time (not default) in the provider's mail site. Suggestion to simply remove /.cache? This is on a maybe problematic disk. I would assume if this is being used, KDE would just make a new one. Since 1. The system-settings item to turn off compositing, select xrender, itself, freezes things so I cannot get to it, and 2. I will sometimes not even get far enough in plasmashell start up to do alt/shift/F12 at least -- is there any way I can set these manually so all KDE sessions will default this way? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440210 Title: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually. [Bug 1511101] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0) appears repeatedly during boot; Ubuntu boots normally to GNOME3 afterwards
Hi everyone. I have had this issue on my Lenovo Yoga with 15.10 . After trying different beta kernels from Ubuntu and getting the same crashes, I've installed the 4.2.5 mainline kernel and the problem went away. So I guess the error must have been introduced in one of Canonical's patches. [Bug 1512066] [NEW] Desktop screen and icon corruption
Public bug reported: This is now the 3 rd time to reinstall 15.10. Previously the 15.04 version has been re-installed. Under 15.04 the problem (bug) was restricted to the desktop background image in that after a few days and new updates loaded the screen became corrupted with the appearance of a view like looking through opaque reed glass. The blame was put on 'Variety' which was in use. Peter Levi terms this problem a 'low key bug'? It makes no difference whether 'Variety' is in use or not As the problem (bug) only affected the desktop background then it was workable. The new release of 15.10 was hoped to iron out the problem, but once again after receiving updates corruption began, and is much more severe in that icons become distorted when the mouse passes over them sections of text work become a. invisible or b. distorted to be unreadable. To date I have re-installed 15.10 four times. Everything is stable until I begin to accept updates. and the corruption begins. I have brought up this problem before since 23 rd October. I cannot be the only individual suffering from this problem. I have two machines and the results are the same on both. I have changed monitors to no avail. The programme was re-installed yesterday and is stable without any updates. I run also windows 10 on this machine but have experienced no problems with display or documents text/ icons ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-15.15-generic 3.19.3 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-15-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sun Nov 1 08:34:28 2015 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: vivid DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2e12] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:3034] Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:3034] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-31 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.19.0-15-generic root=UUID=551edabd-9342-4276-8f47-bf3c3b2b5894 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UdevLog: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/log/udev' UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 08/25/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 786G1 v01.22 dmi.board.asset.tag: CZC9468YXF dmi.board.name: 3031h dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.asset.tag: CZC9468YXF dmi.chassis.type: 4 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvr786G1v01.22:bd08/25/2009:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPCompaqdc7900SmallFormFactor:pvr:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn3031h:rvr:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct4:cvr: dmi.product.name: HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.12.1+15.04.20150410.1-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.60-2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 10.5.2-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 10.5.2-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.17.1-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.5.0-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917-1~exp1ubuntu2build1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.11-1ubuntu2build1 xserver.bootTime: Sun Nov 1 06:50:42 2015 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: xserver.version: 2:1.17.1-0ubuntu3 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 corruption ubuntu vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512066 Title: Desktop screen and icon corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1512066/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1512081] [NEW] Network manager doesn't allow password storage of wifi networks with hidden SSID
Public bug reported: My home network has a hidden SSID, but the new (compared to 14.04) network manager doesn't allow to store the password, so I have to enter it every time I want to connect (this also applies to reconnections after system wake-up, from standbys). This is very annoying, and doesn't make much sense, as NM is remembering the network (SSID) - it just doesn't store the password. [Bug 1103460] Re: JRuby needs to be updated
The build failures from previous comments were resolved, and jruby 1.7.21-2ubuntu4 is available in Ubuntu 15.10. It might be possible to make this available for older Ubuntu releases via backports, but that would likely include backports of several dependencies as well, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports#Requesting_a_Backport for details. [Bug 1511975] Re: /lib/systemd/system/console-setup.service has incorrect ExecStart
These are intentionally separated to avoid causing other problems (the rules for when one may safely set the font are rather complicated - with some console drivers, it's vital that the foreground virtual console not be in KD_GRAPHICS mode in order to avoid corrupting graphics memory). The font is intended to be set from /lib/udev/rules.d/85-keyboard- configuration.rules, and indeed should have already been set from an initramfs script before that. [Bug 1507201] Re: mouse cursor is invisible after installation of 32 bit Xubuntu 14.04.3; 15.04, 15.10 betas and daily image
The mouse pointer/cursor still disappears sometimes after boot. I have to reboot to get it back. Xubuntu won't remember my choice for the default mouse. I tried oxy-white and other oxygen pointers to no avail (they only work for the current session, after you reboot you get DMZ- White again or the invisible mouse!). I tried selecting DMZ-White/Black to no avail. If I choose oxy-white as my default cursor it should just be there and work. Ditto. I then proceeded to examine usr/share/icons/default/index.theme (you don't have folder context menu to open as admin like Linux Mint so "sudo mousepad /usr..., etc) and found out that it gives 6 Theme parsing errors for that file: "gtk.css:27:35: junk at the end of file" and 5 more where just the numbers change (the next is 40:48: etc...). I edited that file from "[Icon Theme] Inherits=DMZ-White" to [Icon Theme] Inherits=oxy-white and now I'm gonna see what happens. This has automatically changed the symlink at /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme to reflect the new oxy-white choice as default (it's now also [Icon Theme] Inherits=oxy-white) Those parsing errors shouldn't be there. Remember that my Xubuntu version is 15.10 wily i386 (32 bit). I have a screenshot of these steps, which includes all 6 Theme parsing errors but I'm trying to take a screenshot of the invisible mouse, which I think will be more useful because it will prove that the bug indeed happens. I changed the target to xubuntu daily builds to see if the bug is caught and solved before 16.04. I also decided that x-cursor-theme should be the package, although it seems more like a configuration problem. [Bug 1511045] Re: Gpu hang unexpected
as, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1512116] Re: gparted ignores devid for btrfs filesystem
Thank you Rolf for your interest in improving GParted. This problem was fixed upstream in GParted 0.20.0. See the following upstream bug report: GParted resizes the wrong filesystem (does not pass the devid to btrfs filesystem resize) https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=723842 The latest version of GParted at time of writing is 0.24.0. Unfortunately the versions packaged in Ubuntu are quite old. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #723842 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=723842 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512116 Title: gparted ignores devid for btrfs filesystem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/1512116/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1510660] Re: Screen icons and text corrupted after 15.10 upgrade
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu ** Description changed: Since upgrading to 15.10 I am having trouble with most of the desktop and other icons and some text. The problem seems to be that the screen painting lines are out of synch. This means that most of the icons on the desktop are almost unreadable and spread laterally. Also PDF documents are unreadable. The raster graphics that I have imported into Inkscape are unusable. I am using a Dell Vostro 220 and Dell screens. The affect is the same whether I use a wide screen or a more conventional profile. [Bug 1511145] Re: compiz freeze
stef.baly, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5405142=8=4060 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.33). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1.33 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511145 Title: compiz freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1511145/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
