[Bug 1505564] Re: Soft lockup with "block nbdX: Attempted send on closed socket" spam
Re-reading comment #318 Dan, I realize that we may be investigating a symptom and not the root cause. Whenever the soft-lockup happens, the serial console does get flooded "block nbdX: Attempted send on closed socket". [Bug 1493143] Re: rtl8723be wifi unusable on lenovo ideapad y50-70
Henk Stubbe, to advise, it's much easier to debug, and keep upstream's attention, when talking about one router with easy access to specifics (ex. Linksys), versus all the different ones that may be connected to, and/or ones where specifics aren't available. Despite this, with your device specifically, it has a two-parter, the kernel, which you have tested a later version of, and the firmware, which is the older one in Trusty. Hence, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, could you please test this with the latest firmware, and latest upstream kernel? The latest firmware is available in Vivid+, or via Regarding the latest mainline kernel, could you please test the latest one available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Going on skomorokh's advice I downloaded the apparmor tools to put things into complain mode and so forth. Theoretically this should not have fixed firefox, but it seems to have done so for me. [Bug 1530171] [NEW] [Regression] Thinkpad dock: External monitors not recognized after 15.04 upgrade
Public bug reported: On Thinkpad L540 with intel graphics: External monitors are not recognized in display settings when plugged in (into any port including VGA). They *are* recognized after a reboot (not after logout). After plugging out and the in again they are not recognized. A monitor plugged into the internal VGA is recognized instantly. Everything used to work with 14.10, but stopped with 15.04. A recent test with 1510 live CD did not fix this. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530171 Title: [Regression] Thinkpad dock: External monitors not recognized after 15.04 upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates/+bug/1530171/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1530197] [NEW] Login screen asks for wifi password on startup
Public bug reported: Similar to #1270791 Steps I did: # Install Ubuntu desktop from live image (fresh installation) # Set WiFi connection and enter password - it's saved well. I'm using a hidden network with WPA2-PSK encryption # Reboot Expected result: As the password was saved, no dialog requiring it appears Actual result: Always when I get the login screen, the popup window asking for password appears. The dialog with password won't appear (OK), however wifi is not functional in login screen. [Bug 1528300] Re: Stuck on login screen after updating to 3.19.0-42
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Entering the correct password does not login (entering bad password does give a bad password error, this is distinct), trying to start a guest session also fails. Rebooting and choosing the previous 3.19.0-41 kernel works fine. This bug report is sent after booting from *-41. I have the proprietary Nvidia drivers installed, the recommended version 352.63 from the additional drivers tab. The nouveau drivers do not work with my Nvidia 970 system, they cause me to sometimes get a black screen instead of booting into the OS, also with the install disk, and even with other linux distros. The proprietary drivers fix that issue for me, regardless of distro. I'll keep the "buggy" kernel version around for now in case I can help debug this issue. I believe that this bug is generated due to the presence of a Ricoh R5C592 Memory Stick Adapter on my laptop and which has never been properly recognized by the stock linux kernels. Apparently, the kernel developers keep trying to make it work but have now introduced a "bigger" problem so to speak since it is now causing all these extraneous error messages to be generated in the logs. I am seeing this bug on OpenSUSE with kernel-desktop versions 3.15.6 and 3.16.0. This bug does not appear to be present in the OpenSUSE stock 3.11.6 and 3.11.10 kernels. I have since reverted back to the earlier kernels that don't have this problem. This bug has also been reported at Red Hat's bugzilla at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1119361 IMHO, this bug needs to be fixed prior to the release of OpenSUSE 13.2. FYI, Gordon Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot 2. Wait a while. It sometimes takes an hour or two for the log errors to begin at top volume. Actual Results: Logs grow *HUGE* with r592IRQ: DMA errors and related entries. Expected Results: Logger should not produce error messages of this magnitude and size. Public bug reported: Created a fresh ubuntu 15.10 container, tried using composer to install drupal8: --- snip --- $ sudo apt-get install composer $ composer create-project drupal/drupal hellodrupal 8.0.0 - Installing drupal/drupal (8.0.0) Cloning ca30166e37ed78e1f9920dc42a82396d98d2a3f4 Created project in hellodrupal Loading composer repositories with package information Installing dependencies (including require-dev) from lock file Nothing to install or update Generating autoload files Script Drupal\Core\Composer\Composer::preAutoloadDump handling the pre-autoload-dump event terminated with an exception [UnexpectedValueException] Invalid version string ">" --- snip --- Was considering reporting this to the composer folks, but I see that version of composer doesn't even know its own version: $ composer --version Composer version @package_branch_alias_version@ (@package_version@) @release_date@ Uninstalling this composer and using the dreaded "curl | php" method to install it worked around both problems, so it looks like ubuntu's composer needs to be refreshed from upstream. [Bug 1530205] [NEW] X Segfaults
Public bug reported: My system started crashing at regular intervals (10 minutes to one hour) since this afternoon; I'm not aware of running any updates, but I might have done an "aptitude safe-upgrade" anywhere in the past week. I'm fully up to date on Ubuntu 14.04.3 now. The problems seem to exclusively occur when running Chrome (47) / Chromium (45) (I switched to that browser when the problem occurred a few times, but this didn't solve it), but this may also simply be a consequence of my browser being the most Graphics-heavy part of the system. I'm running on a MacbookPro, inside Parallels; this was not a problem until this afternoon. /var/log/Xorg.0.log looks like this: [ 6197.350] (EE) Backtrace: [ 6197.351] (EE) 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x48) [0x7f25c67f0848] [ 6197.351] (EE) 1: /usr/bin/X (0x7f25c6647000+0x1ad539) [0x7f25c67f4539] [ 6197.351] (EE) 2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x7f25c5743000+0x10340) [0x7f25c5753340] [ 6197.351] (EE) 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (PrlCtlUpdateGLXCliping+0x429) [0x7f25c0dde019] [ 6197.351] (EE) 4: /usr/bin/X (FindClientResourcesByType+0x98) [0x7f25c66c0118] [ 6197.351] (EE) 5: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (PrlCtlUpdateGLXClipingAll+0x50) [0x7f25c0ddb7b0] [ 6197.351] (EE) 6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (PrlCtlSetFullscreenGLXDrawable+0xa8) [0x7f25c0ddc1a8] [ 6197.351] (EE) 7: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (PrlCtlDetectFullscreenGLXDrawable+0xc3) [0x7f25c0ddd963] [ 6197.351] (EE) 8: /usr/bin/X (FindClientResourcesByType+0x98) [0x7f25c66c0118] [ 6197.351] (EE) 9: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (PrlCtlDetectFullscreenGL+0x4c) [0x7f25c0ddb74c] [ 6197.351] (EE) 10: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (PrlCtlRefreshDrawable+0x8c) [0x7f25c0ddec3c] [ 6197.351] (EE) 11: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (0x7f25c0dc5000+0x10bad) [0x7f25c0dd5bad] [ 6197.351] (EE) 12: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/prlvideo_drv.so (0x7f25c0dc5000+0x14f19) [0x7f25c0dd9f19] [ 6197.351] (EE) 13: /usr/bin/X (0x7f25c6647000+0x55f0e) [0x7f25c669cf0e] [ 6197.351] (EE) 14: /usr/bin/X (0x7f25c6647000+0x59d9a) [0x7f25c66a0d9a] [ 6197.351] (EE) 15: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xf5) [0x7f25c4183ec5] [ 6197.351] (EE) 16: /usr/bin/X (0x7f25c6647000+0x451ee) [0x7f25c668c1ee] [ 6197.351] (EE) [ 6197.351] (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x2d0 [ 6197.351] (EE) Fatal server error: [ 6197.351] (EE) Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault).
