[Bug 1539359] Re: No message for empty song collection

2016-01-28 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
Fiar point Michi, in fact, this reveals another issue: Currently, the
"get started" message displayed in My Music suggests copying music files
onto an SD card which, looking at our supported devices, is not
applicable to the BQ and Meizu. We need to fix this to better describe
the process James explained.

[Bug 1539125] [NEW] Login into the console does show the wrong number of upgradeable packages

2016-01-28 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 dev with apt 1.0.10.2ubuntu1 and if I'm login
into the console a message shows me how many packages are upgradeable.
But very often it shows me a number > 0 even if my system if fully
upgraded. Trying to logout and login again does still show the same
number.

[Bug 1526808] Re: installed system qeth NIC name is too verbose

2016-01-28 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Imho, enccw600 is confusing. FIrst of all, I have no idea why ccw code
path is compiled on all architectures when this bus is only present on
S/390.

Furthermore that's the only bus one can have ethernet devices (and dasd
disk drives) on.

Thus all network nics end up with "ccw" in the name, which is weird.
Thus I do want to drop the static prefix of ccw, which has no meaning
(unlike e.g. letters in the PCI enumeration).

I've contacted original contributer of the ccw names, no response yet.
Will propose upstream too.

[Bug 1526287] Re: text unreadable

2016-01-28 Thread Tom Jampen
Can you please post your TeXstudio configuration file:

It's located in ~/.config/texstudio/texstudio.ini

If the file ~/.config/texstudio/texmakerx.ini is present, post that one
as well.

Depending on how much you've changed in the configuration it would be
worth a try to restart with a config (i.e. renaming the directory
~/.config/texstudio or completely removing it).

Regards
Tom

[Bug 1524901] Re: When an application starts there is temporarily a white gap at the top

2016-01-28 Thread Tim Peeters
I flashed the rc-proposed image on mako and I have problems reproducing
this bug.

- In music-app it seems like the whole background is flashing white before
showing the proper page, not just the top
- Messaging-app looks fine. No white box.
- Dekko crashes on startup after I added an account.
- Contacts-app some times hangs, and some times crashes.

There is a very similar bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1518002 but with different apps listed that is
fixed in the branch attached to that bug.

[Bug 1377996] Re: [phone-app] is freezing on active call screen

2016-01-28 Thread TenLeftFingers
Perhaps I should have commented here instead of at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1499069

but the dialer freezes on me every single time for the last two months+

I can't hang up and some times I can't even dial.

Is there anything I should provide in this report?

I hope this is released as a hot-fix and not queued up for the next OTA.

[Bug 1526287] Re: text unreadable

2016-01-28 Thread Tom Jampen
Thanks, Marco for sending your config file. I cannot reproduce the
problem on Debian on my computer.

But I've searched the net and found:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-themes/+bug/1332100

Seems to be related to using QT-applications on unity. The link above
shows some workarounds.

Please let me know if one of them works for you, so that we can close
this bug, as it does not seem to be caused by TeXstudio.

Regards
Tom

[Bug 1539158] [NEW] Unable to pair with in-car hands-free system after OTA-9 update

2016-01-28 Thread Stunts
Public bug reported:

After OTA-9 I started having trouble with my bluetooth connection to the car
hands-free system (no sound, and incoming calls no longer displayed the
number), so I have reset both the car and the phone connections (eg. forgot the
devices).
Now I can't even pair the phone with the car's system.
The car finds the phone, and then asks me to enter the code "" to pair the
device, but after a few moments, it just says the connection failed and asks me
to try again. Which fails again.

It was working fine just before the update.

Any logs I should post to help debug?

PS - The car is a 2015 Honda Civic Tourer, if that matters.

[Bug 1539157] [NEW] Images built with "link_in_boot = yes" in /etc/kernel-img.conf end up with a broken /boot/initrd.img

2016-01-28 Thread Dan Watkins
Public bug reported:

Some architectures get "link_in_boot = yes" added to /etc/kernel-
img.conf by lb_chroot_linux-image; it appears that cloud images built
for these architectures (I have checked s390x and arm64) end up with an
LZMA-compressed empty regular file at /boot/initrd.img (instead of the
expected symlink to /boot/initrd.img-...).

In terms of time-of-introduction, I have confirmed that an s390x image
built against proposed on the 12th of January was good, whereas an s390x
image built against the main archive on the 25th was not.

(I suspect that this is actually an issue in something in the archive,
but as I don't really know _what_, I have filed this against live-build
for now.)

[Bug 1539176] [NEW] highlighting of selected item not visible with external monitor

2016-01-28 Thread Bill Filler
Public bug reported:

On certain pages (History, New Tab) with an external monitor and
keyboard connected, the highlighting of the items is really not
distinguishable and don't appear to be working using keyboard shortcuts
and keys (i.e. arrow keys) to navigate.

Specifically:

History View:
- highlighting of history entries in right hand column need to be
darker/different color/more contrast, and/or change the color of the
highlighted text
- highlighting of entries in left hand column should match, although the
highlighted text currently changes color to orange so that makes it obvious

New Tab View:
- Top Sites section: Can't tell at all which of the thumbnails previews is
highlighted, this needs to be made more obvious
- Bookmarks section: both columns currently change text color of selected items
so this makes them distinguishable. We should make this consistent with the
History View whatever we decide for that.

Attached are screenshots on my monitor with items selected. On History
View, the first item on "Today" is selected and on Top Sites the "MP4
Files" is selected.

[Bug 1539195] [NEW] adjust wait-for-root to deprecated udev API

If that bug gets fixed, we should hook into it and report status that way and
drop apt-check.

[Bug 1524328] Re: libpng 1.6 support

2016-01-28 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Sorry for stealing the already-open bug :)

** Description changed:

+ As said, in Debian it is pretty much in place, and I sync'd/merged almost
every package in Ubuntu too.
+ Would it be possible to have the transition done for Xenial?
+
+ I can fix stuff in Universe, but not in Main (there is not many packages
+ there AFAICS)
+
+ this is the debian bug
+ https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=650601
+
+ you can start from this message:
+
+ thanks!

+
+
Libpng 1.6 has been out for a little while, apparently it has some
important fixes for pngquant (which is also in Ubuntu). There are
  comments here that maybe useful:
  https://github.com/pornel/pngquant/blob/master/rwpng.c

Presumably at some point libpng1.2 will be EOL so we'll need to upgrade
  anyhow!

[Bug 1110138] Re: Unity: wrong window dimensions / location in Java applications

2016-01-28 Thread Misha
I'm on Ubuntu 15.10
using
java version "1.8.0_66"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_66-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.66-b17, mixed mode)

When using some java applications (specifically Interactive Brokers
TWS), about 10% of the time Ubuntu cannot figure out the size or the
position of the window or which window is on top. So, you click on one
window and miss or an action of another window (the one behind) is
activated. This usually gets fixed by system reboot or

wetsid unity

I have not seen this behavior with any application other than TWS, which
is a java application. I would be happy to provide more details.

[Bug 1533004] Re: Please consider upgrade to the latest upstream (1.3.2+)

2016-01-28 Thread bhat3
@Dimitri I was also right before doing the packaging in case no one of
the other affected people already gave it a shot. If you start packaging
please keep us informed.

As Bojo stated we need to get the package into Debian first, for getting

[Bug 1539080] Re: Intel wifi broken after resume

2016-01-28 Thread Stéphane Graber
I unfortunately can't reproduce this on demand. I've had it happen to me
so far twice, both times immediately after resume, on two completely
different wifi networks, once on a mobile hotspot from my phone and
another time at a hotel in Brussels.

My best guess is that it's got to do with some network state at suspend
time which then causes breakage on resume.

If I do find some kind of pattern that I can use to even vaguely
reproduce this thing on request, then I'll definitely send you a trace.

Hmmm. This is one of the challenge we constantly face with distros. I
should have verified this :-(

Can you tell me the criteria to place commands to /sbin and /usr/sbin ?
Because I see Ubuntu placed few commands under /sbin/ and few under
/usr/sbin

ubuntu@lep8d:$ which vpdupdate
/usr/sbin/vpdupdate
ubuntu@lep8d:/home/hegdevasant$ which iprconfig
/sbin/iprconfig

Also can you please fix this in Ubuntu tree -OR- do you want us to fix
it in upstream before you fix?

Below output is expected.. Basically we use sg utility to get VPD
information for disks/enclosures. Then we run iprconfig to fill missing
information (if any) and update location code information.

Agreed. I believe most of the errors are fixed with latest libvpd
(v2.2.5) .. But I suspect we still have some errors like below .. which
needs to be fixed.

Missing device: sg11
Missing device: sg10
Missing device: sg14
Missing device: sg12
Missing device: sg13

[Bug 1536810] Re: kernel install failed /bin/cp: cannot stat ‘/boot/initrd.img-4.3.0-7-generic’: No such file or directory

2016-01-28 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
link_in_boot is required as yes for s390x, and currently it seems like
cloud-image generation is broken for s390x.

Manually, upgrading from an older cloudimage (3.3 -6- version) I had to
do a small dpkg remove surgery to drop all the packages, and reinstall
new metapackages.

What I found interesting, was that after "update-initramfs -u" call by
kernel maintainer scripts, instead of actually generating the initramfs,
it was "deffered for later by a trigger" which is not what kernel wants
to do, given that it hopes to operate on the resultant files straight
after (changing symlinks).

[Bug 1539081] Re: LP1538822 : Update opencrytoki to version >= 3.4.1

2016-01-28 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1539081/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1538664] Re: Please enable ppc64el on dpdk

2016-01-28 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
The attachment "debdiff including ppc64el architecture" seems to be a
debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report
so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the
attachment isn't a patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the
attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are member of the
~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe the team.

[Bug 1524901] Re: When an application starts there is temporarily a white gap at the top

2016-01-28 Thread Tim Peeters
^My reports above were on mako with the latest rc-proposed image (r352).

On krillin with image r387 I can reproduce this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1518002
with music-app. Messaging-app, contacts-app and Dekko are good (I cannot
reproduce the bug).

Now flashing image 394 to see if there is a difference.
