[Bug 1554004] Re: Segfault on X startup with VX900

2016-03-23 Thread Jeffrey Walton
I'm trying to add tag:verification-done-wily.

The updated driver at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-
video-openchrome/1:0.3.3-1ubuntu1.1 was tested under Wily/15.10 it
tested OK. The driver was installed from wily-proposed.

The test rig for Wily/15.10 was a Qotom T26
(http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AXR2KBQ). It has a C7-D processor, and a
P4M400 chipset.

Here are some other bug reports related to the faulty OpenChrome driver.
Once the updated OpenChrome dirver passes its quality/security gates,
they can be closed, too:

Well, this is a pretty useless page: "PerformingSRUVerification",
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification. The section

[Bug 1548864] Re: Ubuntu GNOME Xenial live image boots to tty1 and demands password

2016-03-23 Thread Tim
switch to VT and then copy them onto a USB or mount some other hdd
partition.

I expect the kernel bug will still be there, but lightdm seems to handle
software fallback better, so you probably won't notice without checking
the logs.

ubiquity displays the "Try Ubuntu greeter", I asked for those before I
realised it was working. I think it also runs casper to set autologin
and other session customisations, so maybe useful in that sense.

OK, I take that back. Inspection of the files in the xenial package

May You have a look at bug 43488 and bug 41104 if Your patch of bug

> May You have a look at bug 43488 and bug 41104 if Your patch of bug 93299

No, my patch does not fix either of those. The files in both of those
bugs directly use the glyph IDs to look up glyphs. Which is completely
insane for a non-embedded font because glyph IDs are not in any way
portable. To get them to work you could install the exact same Arial
font. Not just a similar or compatible font like Liberation Sans, but
Microsoft's own Arial font. Installing msttcorefonts should work.
Might have to also add a fontconfig rule to match ArialMT to Arial.

I'm sorry, but I think you are wrong again about "nothing going on
here". I already pointed several times to the *current* code, so Xenial
most certainly is affected.

[Bug 1561330] [NEW] ps security data column includes AppArmor confinement mode in 16.04

2016-03-23 Thread Tyler Hicks
Public bug reported:

In Xenial, running linux 4.4.0-15-generic and procps 2:3.3.10-4ubuntu2,
I see that the security data column has changed to displaying the
AppArmor confinement mode:

$ ps wZ $(pidof cups-browsed)
LABEL PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
/usr/sbin/cups-browsed (enforce) 786 ?Ssl0:00
/usr/sbin/cups-browsed

This is different than what is displayed in 15.10:

$ ps wZ $(pidof cups-browsed)
LABEL PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
/usr/sbin/cups-browsed548 ?Ssl0:00
/usr/sbin/cups-browsed

There was a large AppArmor kernel change in Xenial's 4.4.0-15-generic so
to rule that out, I booted into an earlier Xenial kernel and saw the
same issue:

$ uname -a
Linux sec-xenial-i386 4.4.0-7-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Thu Feb 18 20:50:09 UTC
2016 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux
$ ps wZ $(pidof cups-browsed)
LABEL PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
/usr/sbin/cups-browsed (enforce) 631 ?Ssl0:00

[Bug 1548864] Re: Ubuntu GNOME Xenial live image boots to tty1 and demands password

2016-03-23 Thread Erick Brunzell
I don't know how I'd ever collect any logs from this current borkage
because the only way you can get to the live DE is by rebooting and
selecting the desired boot option from the advanced boot menu. Possibly
if I were using a live USB with persistence the failed boot would be
logged somewhere?

I'm fried right now and just headed off to bed but I'll try Ubuntu
itself tomorrow and see what happens with it. If it can't be reproduced
on another flavor would it still be a kernel issue? Seems odd that it
would affect two vastly different sets of hardware in exactly the same
way.

Oh, how would booting with "debug-ubiquity" show anything since the
image boots normally from the advanced boot menu? These errors only
occur when booting from the standard boot menu.

[Bug 1561323] [NEW] codelite is not updated

2016-03-23 Thread Wang Xuancong
Public bug reported:

I found that the newest version C/C++ IDE codelite (9.1.4) is very good
compared to Eclipse. However, the version in the standard Ubuntu
repository (version 2.8.0) is very buggy, almost not usable at all. So
please update the package to the newest version, at
http://www.codelite.org/

Thanks!

[Bug 1549085] Re: Kubuntu 16.04 daily Feb 23 ubiquity return 1 after choosing locale (zh_CN) & prompt for keyboard settings , then crash

2016-03-23 Thread BALLOON a.k.a. Fu-sen.
This problem seems to be worsening.

I had to see this problem only in Kubuntu in Beta 1.
However, I will check the current Daily Build, I encountered this in all
flavors (not Lubuntu).

As a workaround for this problem, hit the key immediately after boot,
and select the Language in the start-up menu of the CLI. As a result this issue
does not encounter.
(From this behavior, Lubuntu is not generated)
When you boot the ISO normally and select the language(not English?) will
encounter this problem.

[Bug 1548864] Re: Ubuntu GNOME Xenial live image boots to tty1 and demands password

2016-03-23 Thread Tim
I think i mis-read re comment #23, so you do see the Try Ubuntu screen
(ubiquity-dm), so casper should have run (can you check if autologin
options are enabled in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf.

>From your previous journal logs it looks like gdm is spawned 3 times
with the first 2 failing. Though I can't really see what is different
between the first 2 and the last. Still would like to see the new logs
(there has been a new Xorg and kernel since last time)

DRI is broken in all three (Comment #13), which means hardware GL will
always be broken. You should probably file a kernel bug for that as its
likely hardware specific. Does OpenGL rendering work on an installed
desktop system or when you boot from advanced menu? This isnt likely to
be causing the issue, it should fallback to software rendering, although
sometimes maybe it doesnt. Also gnome-shell can be quite laggy with
software rendering on weaker hardware

[Bug 1561320] [NEW] [FFe] sync docker-registry 2.3.0~ds1-1, needed by notary 0.1~ds1-1

2016-03-23 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The notary package from Debian has yet to successfully build in Ubuntu.
As part of cleaning up xenial-proposed before release, I synced notary
0.1~ds1-1 from unstable, which unlike the previous version should be
compatible with the grpc version in Ubuntu.

The new notary package has a versioned build dependency on golang-
github-docker-distribution-dev, so the package is now dep-wait. This
would be resolved by syncing the new upstream version of docker-registry
from unstable (dropping the Ubuntu delta, which is no longer needed).

docker-registry has no other reverse-dependencies in the archive, and is
an unseeded package in universe, so I think this is safe to sync. But
I'm requesting an FFe anyway, to get a second opinion, since this is a
new upstream version.

I don't intend to account for the individual changes in the package, so
if the release team considers that to be necessary before granting this
FFe, please reject the request instead and we'll sync it for 16.10.

[Bug 1557894] Re: Strange usb device format and failure to boot on UEFI system

2016-03-23 Thread Brian Burch
I have discovered the "strange" device format of the image is a hybrid
iso, and gparted simply does not recognise this as meaningful. I was
able to mount the iso as follows:

  sudo mount -o loop ./image.iso iso-contents/

... and then the mounted directory allows me read-only access to the
file system within the image.

As I said above, the Asus EFI CSM BIOS detects and executes the
hybridiso's bootloader. However, something goes wrong further into the
process. Perhaps this is because the hybrid iso's file system also
contains efi files and their presence confuses the BIOS. I will continue
to investigate.

2016-03-23 Thread Tim
This is really 2 seperate issues

First, ubiquity-dm is failing to load, due to some presumably racy GPU
issue. I then guess casper has not run yet, so the autologin settings
are not yet applied. Finally after some delay systemd decides to spawn
gdm.

The second issue I have file as Bug 1561302. gdm currently won't allow
for passwordless login

[Bug 1560315] Re: [needs packaging] juju2 beta is not in xenial

2016-03-23 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
I've added 12 dependencies for the go modules used by juju as depends in
in the control file. This is a step back in the proper direction. There
are a couple more depends we could add based upon what's in the archive
that is currently breaking the build (one of them is lxd). Beyond that,
we'll need to start getting packages created for the other dependencies
we need. I trust these changes make it more palatable towards entering
into universe.

[Bug 1540774] Re: Light Display Manager fails to load

2016-03-23 Thread Jeffrey Walton
The patch appears to be available in Ubuntu in the -proposed repository.
I tested the proposed patch from Debian upstream under Ubuntu, and the
machine tested OK.

The machine also tested OK with the manual patch as outlined by Kevin
Brace at http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/openchrome-
users/2016-February/007234.html.

I would encourage Ubuntu to move this from Proposed to Updates.

Once the update is available en masse, close this bug report.

**

For Ubuntu users, they can follow
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed. Here's the 3 second tour
using Wily/15.10:

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list | tail -2
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily-proposed restricted main multiverse
universe

$ cat /etc/apt/preferences.d/proposed-updates
Package: *
Pin: release a=wily-proposed
Pin-Priority: 400

Then, perform an 'apt-get update'. Finally:

$ sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/wily-proposed

After "xserver-xorg-video-openchrome" is installed from proposed, the
new driver will be used. Xserver should no longer crash at boot, and the
desktop should be available.
