[Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU]network-manager
I can confirm that running an Intel 7260, after upgrading the suggested packaged to 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.1, and my problem persists: when I am connected to a wifi AP (AP1) and I try to switch to another AP (AP2), the wifi connection dies -- with no list of accessible APs -- and it gives the little right/left arrows that indicate you have no ethernet connection. I have to admit, the OPs description of the problem is not clear to me, so I am not sure if this is the same bug or a different one. In all events, for the bug I think this is (can't change wifi networks), the suggested solutions (i.e., install the latest version of network- manager and two others) do NOT solve it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574347 Title: [SRU]network-manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1574347/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1581902] [NEW] Network manager applet malfunctioning
Public bug reported: After reboot and login, the network manager applet will sometimes show the ethernet connection icon when I'm actually connected to wifi (and I even have the ethernet port disabled in bios). Other times it will indicate that I'm not connected at all, and won't display any available wifi networks, when in fact I am connected. Restarting network manager corrects this. [Bug 1581901] [NEW] Setting 'dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/lockdown/disable-log-out true' replaces Restart and Shut Down with Lock and Log Out
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 16.04, unity 7.4.0+16.04.20160415-0ubuntu1 Doing 'dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/lockdown/disable-log-out true' should only remove the Log Out option from the top-right menu. In addition, after a reboot, it replaces the Restart and Shut Down options with Lock and Log Out, respectively. Clicking on Shut Down should offer Restart and Shut Down but it no longer does. But it does allow Log Out, which is what /org/gnome/desktop/lockdown/disable-log-out is supposed to disallow. On my phone this behavior is the same whether I press "Download" or "Choose an application" from the Download dialog. Also if I long press the link and choose "Save link" the download fails also. When I tried to download a file from a commercial site I have to log into, the download succeeded. I suspect the difference is the commercial site probably uses something beside "AuthType Basic". [Bug 1581835] Re: Native Look and Feel for Swing does not work
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The GTK L has a few known issues and is not enabled by default. Please see bug #183139. You might try adding those properties to either /etc/java-7-openjdk/swing.properties /etc/java-8-openjdk/swing.properties, one per line without the "-D", as in: awt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on swing.aatext=true swing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel swing.crossplatformlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel Be aware that the application you are trying to run might override those settings on its own, if so that would require you to edit the application configuration files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581835 Title: Native Look and Feel for Swing does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/1581835/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1581890] [NEW] Boot registers protocol family 40, which is not in configs
Public bug reported: I noticed this line in the system log after boot: "May 14 14:41:08 ubuntu kernel: [8.677878] NET: Registered protocol family 40" I tried to find out what protocol that was, and eventually determined that the IANA thinks it's the IL protocol, which is deprecated and unusual in any case. [Bug 1581888] [NEW] Open command toggles between default paths

RE: [Bug 798414] Re: update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error when there isn't enough free space
Agreed. This is such a large omission that I am tempted to believe it is on purpose. There are workarounds to temporarily fix the problem, but they are so complicated that a novice, such as myself, must employ great effort to find the temporary fixes. This seems to be a very bad way to promote an operating system. I'm curious if this problem will be fixed in the next long term supported version. Why isn't a bug like this the very top priority of Canonical's development team and the open source community? The bug potentially affects all users and prevents those users from upgrading the kernel, even to plug security holes. Aren't security and kernel problems that affect all users of concern to anyone with the power and skills to fix them? I'm now stuck with having to manually remove kernel files (seriously?) on an expensive laptop with a factory installed Ubuntu 14.04 OS. Even `autoremove` fails for me because gzip has no room to extract the files that it wants to delete? And of course the bug is silently ignored by appreport and consequently Ubuntu and Canonical. Public bug reported: According to `man asetkey` only `des-cbc-crc:v4` algorithm is supported which is obsolete because it's considered insecure. The [OpenAFS quick start guide](http://docs.openafs.org/QuickStartUnix.pdf) recommends to not use it. [Bug 1574211] Re: The "nolapic" boot option causes a kernel panic
I tested the mainline kernel 4.6.0-040600rc7, and the problem does not occur with this version. I also tested 4.4.10-040410, in which the problem did occur. It seems that the problem is indeed fixed in the upstream 4.6 kernel series, but not in 4.4. ** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Description changed: The kernel parameter "nolapic" causes an unrecoverable kernel panic with the 4.4.0-21 kernel in Xenial (16.04). I've verified this on two different machines. The 4.2.0-36 kernel from 15.10 boots without problems, with the same options. The kernel-logs contain no information on the failed boot attempts. [Bug 1258597] Re: Warning: Setting GRUB_TIMEOUT to a non-zero value when GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT is set is no longer supported.
I agree with Aimo, since this seems to be such a simple bug to fix, it doesn't make sense that this hasn't been added to the current LTS 16.04 - it was reported around 3 years ago! Is this something that has been pulled from Debian, if so should we be reporting it to them? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258597 Title: Warning: Setting GRUB_TIMEOUT to a non-zero value when GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT is set is no longer supported.
