[Bug 1584052] Re: btrfs: file write crashes with false ENOSPC during snapshot creation since kernel 4.4 - fix available

2016-05-20 Thread Joseph Salisbury
The commit in mainline is:
4da2e26 btrfs: Continue write in case of can_not_nocow

I built a Xenial test kernel with a pick of 4da2e26. The test kernel can be
downloaded from:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1584052/

Can you test this kernel and see if it resolves this bug?

[Bug 1584106] [NEW] Login to Unity session fails with linux 4.4.0-22

2016-05-20 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Public bug reported:

My attempts to launch Unity sessions on an updated yakkety fails with
linux 4.4.0-22 (both 4.4.0-22.39 and 4.4.0-22.40). Just some blinking on
the screen, and I'm thrown back to the greeter. It happens when I try to
launch a guest session too, so it shouldn't be anything in my $HOME.

linux 4.4.0-21.37 does not trigger this issue.

[Bug 1582471] Re: Add focus/unfocus event passing for Xmir non-rootless mode

2016-05-20 Thread Brandon Schaefer
The thing is, the shell does tell the osk to hide or rather it gives
enough info off that the window should know that its time to hide. Im
assuming this is true based on U8 window normally hide when you click on
a different window or a new window is mapped above it. The only issue
seems to be LXC/XMir windows?

Shouldnt this mean, in xmir if we get a loss of focus we should tell the
window it so the toolkits know we've lost focus? Not sure how else the
toolkits will know they've lost focus?

Same issue. Not even a upgrade. Clean fresh 16.04 install. Worked great
for a week or so. Plagued with this annoying bug. Tried everything on
this post to no help. Considering moving to another distro.

Today I tried again (with ubuntu 16.10) to reopen unity8, the session is
very fast game more than usual (it was from 2 weeks since the felt) but
still the applications do not work and remain in their infinite loading.
the cursor was displayed very large and it was slow (although I think it
is caused by failure of applications open)

[Bug 1484269] Re: wrong symbols in brightness settings

2016-05-20 Thread Charles Kerr
Looks like this is an issue with the icons rather than the code. System
settings is setting the icons in a sane way:

minIcon: "image://theme/display-brightness-min"
maxIcon: "image://theme/display-brightness-max"

If you look at Suru's brightness min and max icons, they look good on a
dark background (which is why they look OK in the indicator) but bad on
a light background.

This is clearly visible not just in systems settings, but if you look at
the icons in Nautilus in a light theme too, see attachment.

[Bug 1541971] Re: Review button inactive without explanation

2016-05-20 Thread Michael Terry
Relatedly, if you rate the app but do not write a review, the Send
button is enabled and will let you submit it (which is not intended, see
comment #3).

The scope will refresh, but you won't see your review! Because (I
assume) the review server rejected the textless review.

This bug seems to appear because the click scope specifies "required" =
"review" for preview data [1]. If it specified nothing, both review and
rating would be required, AFAIK.

So there is a further fix in the click scope to drop those lines I
believe. I've added a task.

[Bug 1584093] [NEW] Running an app on the phone with the SDK gets python spinning on 100% cpu

2016-05-20 Thread Michael Zanetti
Public bug reported:

Run an app on the phone with the SDK. python will spin at 100% cpu
permanently. This causes multiple issues:

* it's odd to debug your apps because they are slowed down a lot

* while developing with the device, battery drains faster than it
charges, even though plugged to the PC.

* High power devices like turbo actually start to get *very* hot - I'm
kinda worried of breaking it in the long run with this - especially the
battery.

* when you unplug the device without first stopping the app, this gets
stuck and requires a reboot.

[Bug 1584089] [NEW] Segfault of __thread varaible in Linux/ARM due to bug of LLVM ARM code generation

2016-05-20 Thread Geunsik Lim
Public bug reported:

There are four thread local storage (TLS) models in Clang/LLVM as following:
1) global-dynamic TLS model
2) local-dynamic TLS model
3) local-exec TLS model
4) initial-execTLS model
and emulated-TLS (for Android S/W platform)??

Even though, We can build run normally with the static relocation method
by selecting the initial-exec TLS model instead of global-dynamic TLS
model (by default) , We need to run the clang application code with
global-dynamic (or local-dynamic) TLS model in order that we support
some applications is working with dlopen(3) library call.

We have found the appropriate solution for some clang/LLVM applications
including 1) __thread variables and 2) -O2/-O3 of the clang language.
Could you apply this patch to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
repository?

[Bug 1578022] Re: dmidecode fails to output smibios 3.0 info

2016-05-20 Thread Colin Ian King
@Jeff, the backport to the much older 2.x version of smbios is just too
intrusive and risky for me to deem this worthwhile; this is more like
adding a feature to the older version 2 of the code, which is outside of
the remit of a SRU, so for Trusty, I'm not going to SRU this.

[Bug 1584085] [NEW] Network sys-tray Icon confused

2016-05-20 Thread Cor Koelewijn
Public bug reported:

When I do a fresh boot, it 'may' show a normal wifi icon, but sometimes it
doesnt.
When I wake it from sleep, it sometimes shows a wired ethernet connection icon,
yet no cable is attached. While in this state the wifi is working as previously
I set the AP name.
But whatever icon it shows, it's menu doesn't show me any AP names at all!

And when there is a problem with the AP, like when I switch off the DHCP
server, it does not give me any info, no AP name, even when I try to
disable network, it does not obey at all.

[Bug 1484269] Re: wrong symbols in brightness settings

2016-05-20 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Confirmed. I guess this is because the slider is using Unicode symbols
rather than real icons. In the battery menu, the symbols make sense
because the text is white, so the solid sun is white. System Settings
used to use a light-on-dark color scheme, but now uses a dark-on-light
one, so the solid sun is black.

I started a kernel bisect between v4.1 final and v4.2-rc1. The kernel
bisect will require testing of about 7-10 test kernels.

I built the first test kernel, up to the following commit:

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1575467

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

[Bug 1584075] [NEW] 16.04 installer crashes when trying to install bootloader

2016-05-20 Thread hillofbeans
Public bug reported:

I was booting from 16.04 server edition.

This OS was made bootable on a 16Gb USB stick by using the make-boot-
disk tool until 14.04.

install was:
* no third party install
* no download (this option hangs for me)
* custom partitions:
... /
... /var
... /usr
... /home
... swap

all was well until it went to install the bootloader, which failed.

prior to that it gave a warning about installing - can't remember,
something to do with UEFI.

[Bug 1576747] Re: Network manager unable to control wifi after suspend in 16.04

2016-05-20 Thread Dave Chiluk
I just tried 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.2, shutdown, started up, suspended
resumed, and still see this issue.

I'm sorry, I haven't had more time to debug this myself.

[Bug 1378784] Re: TextField ignores verticalAligment setting

2016-05-20 Thread Christian Dywan
For the record, what I just clarified in an IRC discussion with Rae:

- Right now verticalAlignment doesn't affect anything.
- There's no known real life user.
- No designs make use of custom alignments - it's not desired.

So we just need to decide:

1) To deprecate it officially.
2) To leave the bug open indefinitely - I don't see a trivial fix and if
nobody's using it spending a lot of time on that seems questionable.

[Bug 1578144] Re: cacti and cacti-spine are not compatible with MySQL 5.7 default sql_mode

2016-05-20 Thread Robie Basak
OK, sponsored. Thanks!

Please note that I modified debian/changelog to merge the old Ubuntu
entry. This is convention in Ubuntu for merge uploads where an old
Ubuntu delta is brought forward (but dropped on a sync). You can do it
manually using dpkg-mergechangelogs, or Merge-o-Matic does it
automatically (when it works).
