[Bug 1601820] Re: ovs-vsctl is hanging
Also setting to openvswitch as so far the issue is not dpdk specific (although it likely is the vswitch crashing on initialzation due to dpdk errors, but we will have to see that first) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1601820 Title: ovs-vsctl is hanging To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1601820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1601820] Re: ovs-vsctl is hanging
Hi, "ovs-vsctl show" can display only the DB config entries - so that show works is no guarantee that it is actually running. In case it is not running the described behavior occurs. If you just want to go on configuring (without actually starting the vswitch) you can add --no-wait to the ovs-vsctl commands (http://openvswitch.org/support/dist-docs/ovs-vsctl.8.txt). But eventually you want to find out why it isn't running to begin with. I recommend checking the logs, I just added a section on troubleshooting but it is not yet in the published serverguide (https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/serverguide/DPDK.html). Until it is published I recommend this for troubleshooting: http://askubuntu.com/questions/786510/using-openvswitch-with-dpdk-in-ubuntu-16-04/789203#789203 ** Package changed: dpdk (Ubuntu) => openvswitch (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: openvswitch (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1601820 Title: ovs-vsctl is hanging To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1601820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1600090] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.12.1
I'm marking this as verified now. I inspected the branch for the pkgconfig, and confirmed that snapcraft 2.12.1 is patching the file as described in the branch. Also, the pantheon snap now passes the "Checking for modules" step, which means that it is now finding the granite library. It now fails in a different place mentioning that granite is not found in the Vala API or GIR directories. That seems to me a completely different issue, that probably needs to be fixed in the snap or in a part, not in snapcraft. Thanks Brian for helping with this SRU! [Bug 1602097] [NEW] X lockup while playing a video (VDPAU)
Public bug reported: While playing a video with mpv, X locked up entirely (not even mouse movement did anything). Even kill -9 won't kill the X server, although /etc/init.d/sddm restart did get the video card to text mode. (But the Xorg process is stuck in state D.) Unfortunately this means I couldn't get a stack backtrace from Xorg, since gdb hangs while trying to attach. This is the first time I've seen this flavour of lockup, and it happened soon after booting the latest kernel update for 15.10 (linux- image-4.2.0-41-g 4.2.0-41.48 amd64). (So this might actually be a DRM bug, but I'm reporting it on a graphics-specific package so the right people can see it and migrate it where it needs to go). My hardware is an ATI HD4670, on an Intel c2duo (E6600) desktop (dg965wh motherboard). Both DVI outputs are in use, one for a 1680x1050 and the other for a 1920x1200 LCD. Public bug reported: Hello! I maintain the unity-greeter-badges package, which contains quite a few badges for various window managers and desktop environments. Upgraded to 2.12.1 go plugin: ✓ Build a snap with the snapcraft.yaml in the same branch as the source. ✓ Build a snap with the snapcraft.yaml in a different branch, pulling the source. ✓ Build a snap without go-importpath, check the warning message. pkg-config: ✗ Build mhall's pantheon snap from bug #1595243. python3 plugin: ✓ Build a snap with an entry_point. (Reported bug #1602079 because this is missing an automated test. Not a blocker though because I ran the test manually in this release.) qmake plugin: ✓ Build pbek's qownnotes from https://github.com/ubuntu/snappy-playpen/issues/145 (The snap is still failing because of a conflict in the env part. That's not a snapcraft error, and the qmake part builds correctly now) parts: ✓ Build a snap with a cloud part, without running snapcraft update first. ✓ Update the parts cache, try to update it again, check that the second time it's not downloaded. ✓ Update the parts cache, change the wiki parts, update the cache again. store: ✓ Upload a snap, check the progress bar and successful message. ✓ Upload a snap that requires a manual review. ✓ Try to upload a snap not registered. ✓ Try to register a snap already registered. ✓ Try to register a reserved snap. ✓ Try to register two snaps in a minute. exploratory: ✓ Run various commands that will result in error messages, check that the message is not wrapped. ✓ Run things with downloads (snap from the store, part from the wiki, source from github), check the progress bar. other bugs found during testing: - bug #1596779: the error when trying to register a snap without signing the agreement is worse than before. High priority, has to be fixed in the next release. - bug #1602091: the error when trying to register a snap that I already registered is not great. Medium priority. - bug #1602094: no clear way to solve the missing short namespace on upload. Medium priority. - bug #1602095: the manual review error needs to be improved. No priority set yet, needs discussion. I'm not yet marking this bug as verified because pantheon is still failing to snap. More digging is needed there in order to know if it's because the bug is still open, or there's something else missing by the yaml. I encounter this issue in ESXi 6.0.0 build 2494585, ESXi 5.5.0 build 3029944 and the on-going develop branch vsphere2016. 2) Is the BIOS set for the VM to be EFI or BIOS mode? Boot mode set to EFI. It works fine when boot mode set to BIOS. best regards Yuhua Zou -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566708 Title: Failed to boot when install ubuntu16.04 beta2 desktop64 with EFI boot in Vmware ESXi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1566708/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1602052] [NEW] ubuntu-release-upgrader should offer to actually purge PPA's
Public bug reported: We currently only disable PPA's prior to beginning a release upgrade and I wonder if it would be possible to actually purge the PPA's or at least list the PPA's and recommend (or demand) that the user purge all PPA's prior to performing the upgrade? I think it would be preferable to refuse to proceed with the upgrade than to have it fail once the process has begun, eh? I learned with a little help that the following command lists all PPA's in use: for PPA_FILE in $(ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list); do egrep -v '^#|^ *$' ${PPA_FILE} | grep "ppa.launchpad.net" | cut -d "/" -f4-5; done Then it's fairly easy to use ppa-purge to return the OS to a fairly out- of-box state package-wise. I don't know however what would happen with previously used PPA's that may have been disabled even though packages installed and/or upgraded via that PPA are still in use on the system. Maybe just a harsh warning would suffice if made prominent enough? I know we like to limit pop-ups but sometimes they're just needed. This should be considered a "wish list" bug, but I've thought about this for a while and bug #1600495 convinced me it was worth the electronic ink to mention it. ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602052 Title: ubuntu-release-upgrader should offer to actually purge PPA's To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1602052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1602051] [NEW] 5Ghz link no longer works on 16.04 - iwlwifi
Public bug reported: Gone from 15.04 to 15.10 on a media PC, constantly streaming movies on the 5Ghz since some get choppy on 2.4Ghz. Has worked beautifully for well over a year now on both 15.x releases. Decided to take the plunge to 16.04, and things were good at first, but I believe there was a firmware update that broke 5Ghz support. After a update (then a reboot), I could (grudgingly) connect to my 5Ghz network, but throughput would drop like a rock even on an apt update/upgrade, to the point where it would stop responding entirely. Had a thought regarding firmware, and decided to force an older rev, so I copied the newest from /lib/firmware/ (iwlwifi-3160-16.ucode) to a backup location and removed it from /lib/firmware/ which forced use of the next newest firmware, iwlwifi-3160-16.ucode, to be loaded. After a reboot, the difference is night and day - no problem connecting to my 5Ghz network again, and throughput is as expected for a solid 5Ghz connection. This is the AC version of this card (first one listed here): https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Intel#abgn.2Bac ``` ~:$ lspci -nn | grep -i intel 02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 3160 [8086:08b3] (rev 83) ``` This is an up to date 16.04, running kernel 4.4.0-28-generic, linux- firmware version 1.158 (although this occurred on 1.157 as well). [Bug 1602046] Re: Window Spread Broken
** Description changed: I AM USING UNITY TWEAK TOOL that enabled the Window Spread feature to activate with hot corners. It worked fine for about a week until the Window Spread started having issues. Some windows appeared as tiny thumbnails about only 10 pixels wide and tall. I turned off Window Spread in the Unity Tweak tool and turned it back on. Now Window Spread doesn't work at all. Instead it causes this glitchfest with all of the windows disappearing, some visual glitches occur, then the windows reappear. Restarting Ubuntu does not fix the bug. Also I just removed the Unity Tweak Tool with Ubuntu Software. After the removal process, Ubuntu Software still thinks that the Unity Tweak Tool is still installed, but after restarting Ubuntu, Ubuntu Software finally knows that it has been removed. It appears that Unity may be crashing and restarting because for a brief second everything disappears except the desktop background. Ubuntu Version: 16.04 Package: Unity Tweak Tool, possibly Unity 7 itself + + NOTICE: After checking "Scale" in the CompizConfig Settings Manager. It + seems to be working again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602046 Title: Window Spread Broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1602046/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Anyone who searches for the present status of Coro with Perl 5.22 will quickly find there are maintenance problems due to differences of opinion. Builds fail, and it is understandable that it would be dropped or deprioritised. On the other hand, it does have a number of innocent users who have done nothing wrong except use it, and dependent packages that fail to build, and it's not easy to replace its functionality. It's an unpleasant surprise to upgrade a server to Ubuntu 16.04 and find a load of Perl code stopped working which is difficult to fix (without rearchitecting applications), simply due to the minor version change to Perl 5.22 which isn't supposed to break that much. There are a few proposed patches around. However this patch by Nicholas Clark is the only one I've seen that makes the claim to avoid affecting the Perl installation or binary compatibility: http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.perl5.porters/2016/05/msg236195.html I don't know if that patch is adequate but if it is, given the LTS status of Ubuntu 16.04 meaning it is unlikely to change Perl minor version, if that patch makes libcoro-perl work and the dependent packages build again, it would seem a good thing to do. ** Attachment added: "libcoro-perl-install.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libcoro-perl/+bug/1579552/+attachment/4698970/+files/libcoro-perl-install.log ** Also affects: xenial-backports Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579552 Title: Please backport libcoro-perl 6.490-1 (universe) to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xenial-backports/+bug/1579552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
