[Bug 1613001] Re: mouse cursor flashing after adding third monitor through usb 3.0 displaylink monitor
jowfdoijdfdwfwdf, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. In order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed. Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available. [Bug 1614820] Re: Respect gsettings org.gnome.desktop.privacy report-technical-problems
> Perhaps /etc/default/apport enabled=0/1 could be deprecated in favor of that key. No, it can't be deprecated (because servers/cloud/Non-GNOME flavors) nor synchronized (because multiple users on one system and privilege boundary). A user gsetting can *not* be used to entirely disable the generation of crash reports in /var/crash. But it is simple and straightforward to query it in apport-gtk to suppress the upload/reporting of crash reports. The main blocker here is that the report-technical-problems is off by default, which we don't want in Ubuntu -- it should be consistent with the system-wide "on" default, where it asks for every crash whether to upload it. Another problem is that we already have some setting for this -- in ubuntu-system-settings "security & privacy" there are options for disabling apport error reports. This would then be redundant and preferrably get moved to use the same key? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1614820 Title: Respect gsettings org.gnome.desktop.privacy report-technical-problems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/apport/+bug/1614820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Carl Englund, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 4.0.9 to 4.4 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. [Bug 1571942] Re: remove qt from Ubuntu GNOME seed
The Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 images doesn't include fcitx. The only thing bringing Qt in was that evolution-data-server-online-accounts recommended signon-plugin-password. That's fixed for yakkety: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data- server/3.21.90-0ubuntu3 For the live seed, I copied Ubuntu's live seed which gave us extra languages and fcitx. To get qt off though, I made these changes - thunderbird locales (not related to Qt) - fcitx-frontend-qt4 - fcitx-frontend-qt5 - fcitx-ui-qimpanel - fcitx-mozc + !fcitx-frontend-all (blacklisted so we get the alternate recommends instead) I could have kept fcitz-mozc and just blacklisted its gui config tool (which is written in Qt) but I guess Japanese typists can either use ibus or install fcitx-mozc themselves if they want it. The mozc config tool has a really ugly icon in GNOME Shell anyway… http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-gnome/releases/16.04/release/ubuntu- gnome-16.04-desktop-amd64.manifest https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/germinate-output/ubuntu- gnome.yakkety/live Compare with https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/germinate-output/ubuntu.yakkety/live -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1571942 Title: remove qt from Ubuntu GNOME seed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1571942/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1617456] Re: [Feature Request] Gaming Mode for Unity
The keyboard issue is to do with grabs. Games should be able to "grab" the keyboard and receive all events without the shell intercepting Super and Alt. Although a key combo to escape from buggy apps is also required (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+Delete). Historically Unity7 has done this (better than Unity8 but still) poorly, but that's just a side-effect of Compiz using the Xkb extension which is a bit broken by design (it explicitly does not honour grabs even when you use them). This is however not a gaming-specific feature, so really should be requested separately. I suggest you split this bug in two. ** Also affects: mir Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1617456 Title: [Feature Request] Gaming Mode for Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1617456/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1617849] [NEW] latest system update broke fglrx video drivers, so no more 3d video acceleration
Public bug reported: System is 14.04 LTS. As a reminder, AMD fglrx drivers (formerly Catalyst) are deprecated on 16.04 LTS. The current suggested workaround for people who need fglrx drivers is "use 14.04 LTS". I have my system set to weekly updates. The most recent system update reverted my system back to the open source driver (xserver-xorg-video- ati). The update system still seems to identify fglrx as available. Fglrx and fglrx-updates both appear as options in the System > ... > Additional Drivers dialog. However selecting them and attempting to apply the change, the system will churn a bit then just reselect the open drivers option, without any dialog or error message. The open video drivers don't enable 3d hardware acceleration, which is unacceptable for my use case. [Bug 1617838] [NEW] std::isnan and isnan visibility problems
Public bug reported: Consider the following small test application: #include #include #include int main() { double d = NAN; std::cout << std::isnan(d) << '\n'; std::cout << isnan(d) << '\n'; return 0; } Compiling on Ubuntu 16.04 with g++-5.4.0 using C++11 standard fails: $ g++ -std=c++11 main.cpp main.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: main.cpp:10:25: error: ‘isnan’ was not declared in this scope std::cout << isnan(d) << '\n'; ^ main.cpp:10:25: note: suggested alternative: In file included from main.cpp:3:0: /usr/include/c++/5/cmath:641:5: note: ‘std::isnan’ isnan(_Tp __x) ^ I've compiled this on Centos gcc-4.9.1 and gcc-5.2.1 and it works on both. I've compiled this on Ubuntu gcc-4.9.3 and that too works. However, compiling on Ununtu gcc-5.4.0 doesn't. I've also tried several online compilers, with mixed results. Wandbox has gcc-6.3.0, gcc-5.2.0, gcc-5.1.0 and they all compiled fine. Godbolt broke for gcc-4.9.2 through gcc-5.3, but then works on 6.1. Given it works for gcc-5.2.0 on Wandbox and breaks for gcc-5-2.0 on Godbolt makes me thing one must be using a patched standard library. ** Affects: gcc-5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1617838 Title: std::isnan and isnan visibility problems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-5/+bug/1617838/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
