Public bug reported: I am experimenting with the new profile stacking feature of AppArmor on Ubuntu 16.10. However, when trying the load a profile with stacking ("//&" ), the apparmor-parser will report the following erros: AppArmor parser error for /etc/apparmor.d/root.test.shell in /etc/apparmor.d/root.test.shell at line 8: syntax error, unexpected TOK_ID, expecting TOK_END_OF_RULE. The system is Ubuntu 16.10 Server edition. I am trying to confine a test program at /root/test/shell. The profile looks like the following: #include /root/test/shell { #include /bin/touch ix, /root/test/read px -> readtest1 //& readtest2, /root/test/shell mr, profile readtest1 { #include /root/test/file1 r, /root/test/read mr, } profile readtest2 { #include /root/test/file2 r, /root/test/read mr, } } If the stacking works, when the /root/test/shell execs /root/test/read, it should not be able to read either file1 or file2. I am not sure if I am using the stacking in the wrong way, or there is a bug in userspace support for stacking. ** Affects: apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639660 Title: apparmor-parse cannot parse profile with stacking //& To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1639660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Bueno, no entiendo un pomo de computadoras más que lo básico pero no sé por qué me parece más amigable ubuntu. No obstante no me deja borrar programas desde hace un tiempo y ni idea por qué. [Bug 1639520] Re: nvidia graphics drivers 367.57-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 prevents gnome from launching
Same here, in a 14.04.5 laptop with both Intel HD Graphics 4400 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M. After removing all 'nvidia*' packages it boots again to the graphics environment. I have also tried to install again the 'nvidia-367' package. Before rebooting, 'nvidia-prime' says the default is for 'nvidia', so I have changed to 'intel' instead ("prime-select intel", at terminal). Then after reboot it goes into the desktop as usual, using the Intel card and also with all the nvidia modules loaded. However OpenGL does not work anymore in that case (X fails to load two of the DRI modules on startup, dunno why). So I went back and purged all nvidia packages. Note: I've also tried the package 'nvidia-361' that comes from the CUDA 8.0 repository from NVIDIA, but got the same black screen (still being able to switch to a text-mode terminal). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639520 Title: nvidia graphics drivers 367.57-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 prevents gnome from launching To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1639520/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1609242] Re: Kernels 4.3-4.8 result in blackscreen - Intel Ivybridge
I can report that I ran into the same issue. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and I got the blinking cursor in the upper left corner at the sd_crypt password screen (although it's not a "black" screen, it's the standard splash screen with password prompt). If I disable the "splash" option in grub, I can enter my encryption password at the prompt and see the normal login screen from then on, but once booted into Ubuntu videos will play very slow/choppy, so it doesn't work correctly. (This is with the default kernel, 4.4.0-45-generic.) If I choose to boot with the 4.4.0-31-generic kernel, the graphics are working normally from start to finish (sd_crypt screen, login screen, etc. all work), so that seems to be an acceptable workaround for people in the same situation as me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609242 Title: Kernels 4.3-4.8 result in blackscreen - Intel Ivybridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1609242/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1639500] Re: Snapshot the system zpool from within the initramfs
For the additional pools one might have, I adapted the script so it snapshots everything else. To trigger the script I added a new service zfs-import-scan.service, and I adapted the existing zfs-mount.service to include it. This way additional zpools will be snapshotted right after being imported, and before mounting takes place. The script doing the work is called zfs- systemd-snap. I keep both the initramfs and systemd solution in place on my systems because the rootfs has been pivoted when systemd runs and the whole goal of this is to snapshot zpools without them being written to. I did make sure not to snapshot a zpool twice. To test the additional systemd stuff: - add zfs-systemd-snap to /etc/systemd - add zfs-import-scan.service to /etc/systemd/system and run "systemctl enable zfs-import-scan.service" - add zfs-mount.service to /etc/systemd/system and run "systemctl enable zfs-mount.service" That's basically it, it should run based on the same GRUB parameter mentioned before behaving the same way. Disclaimer: when executing the steps above you are effectively overriding the default zfs-mount.service script provided by the Ubuntu- provided zfs packages. If the unit file gets updated in the future, this will no longer be reflected on your system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639500 Title: Snapshot the system zpool from within the initramfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1639500/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1639640] [NEW] black screen at boot until pressing power-off button?
Public bug reported: After a recent update (early Nov 2016), my 16.04 system (an HP Pavillion 500-321, i.e. a generic i5-4570 system with integrated graphics) started showing a black screen on boot (after the grub menu finished). A fresh 16.10 live USB image also has the same problem on this system (but not on an nvidia system), as does a fresh 16.10 install. A fresh 16.04 install does NOT have the problem; the problem can be reproduced on this system by doing a fresh 16.04 install followed by letting it update automatically to the latest 16.04 packages. After some experimentation, I discovered that after booting up into the black screen, I could (usually?) rescue the session by pressing the computer's power button. This brought the screen to life, showing Ubuntu's "reboot or power down?" dialog. Cancelling that left you with a working system. I also discovered that if I booted first to text mode with sudo systemctl set-default multi-user.target and then after logging in via text mode, switch to graphics with startx or with sudo systemctl start graphical.target the screen also was fine. So, um, er, is it a race condition? Is graphical.target missing a wants? And what recent update could be introducing this problem? [Bug 1639631] [NEW] Strange behavior when going from ac to battery mode (suspend)
Public bug reported: Scenario: Laptop is set to go in standby after 60 min inactivity only(!) when on battery. Laptop is on AC and left without use for 90 min. Laptop is then disconnected from battery. Symptom: Laptop goes to standby at once! The Bug seems that the inactivity timer is not reset when going from ac to battery (or the switch isn't seen as activity) It is very annoying, because if you switch the Laptop to battery you _want_ to do something with the laptop in the near future (seconds to minutes) in 95% of the cases... [Bug 1602888] Re: Dell Inspiron 7559 fans do not shut off once started, even when cool
Just to clarify this for me, because I'm getting kind of lost in reading all the posts, both Ubuntu developers in this thread, and kernel developers in the kernel thread where this issue is reported are more or less blaming this on Dell firmware, am I getting this correctly? Concerning the Dell certified version of Ubuntu - Dell does not allow other users whose machine did not originally come with it to download, i.e. making it public to download, am I correct? I also have a question about the i8kutils - does it remedy the issue completely without side effects and is it dangerous to use it? I mean, it's not vendor certified software and it meddles with temperature settings for the fans, so if I really screw up the settings, can I potentially fry my CPU? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602888 Title: Dell Inspiron 7559 fans do not shut off once started, even when cool To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1602888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
