[Bug 1642159] [NEW] Remove lightdm-webkit-greeter And Replace It With A New lightdm-webkit2-greeter Package

2016-11-15 Thread Dustin Falgout
Public bug reported:

Release to remove it from: Zesty

Remove both the source package and all binary packages?: Yes

Package rdepends: None

Rationale:

lightdm-webkit-greeter uses the old webkitgtk (webkit 1) api which is
currently in the process of being removed from the archive[1]. The
greeter's code was updated two years ago to use the new webkit2gtk
(webkit2) api. Since then it has been, and continues to be, actively
developed under the name lightdm-webkit2-greeter[2].

[Bug 1638769] Re: Need more information from account manager

2016-11-15 Thread Alberto Mardegan
At the moment, we don't properly handle the case when new providers are
installed on the system: the client will continue seeing the old
provider's list. You can file a bug for that, but I don't think this is
a critical issue.

The client retrieve the provider list (along with the existing accounts list)
when the Manager gets initialized, and we assume that this list doesn't change.
The RequestAccess() method and the AccountChanged signal only carry the
serviceId field, which can then be used to look up the provider information in
the provider list (which also contains the serviceId). Give that the you might
have several accounts for the same provider, we are not replicating the
provider information for each account.
However, this should not be a concern of the client, since the client library
already tooks care of resolving the mapping (if it doesn't, please file a bug).

To quickly test the new API, you can get the Account Tester app from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/ubuntu-system-settings-
online-accounts (version 0.15, it's the one linked in the "provider-
data" test case).

for testing with gdbus, remember that you need to pass the applicationId
as parameter to the GetAccounts call (you can omit it, if you are a
confined app).

[Bug 1642150] [NEW] Timeout for online-accounts is unusably short

2016-11-15 Thread Michi Henning
Public bug reported:

The default timeout for the daemon is 5 seconds. That is way too short
to be useful. For example, if I want to talk to the daemon with d-feet,
before I can even navigate to an interface, let along invoke a method,
the daemon exits and d-feet closes the object pane.

Please make the default timeout something more reasonable. A minute
seems like a good value.

[Bug 1533631] Re: dhclient killed when DHCPv6 lease is out-of date

2016-11-15 Thread Klaus Kudielka
As a temporary work-around on my ubuntu machine, I added the following
line to /lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service in the [Service]
section:

ExecStartPre=-/bin/sh -c 'rm -f
/var/lib/NetworkManager/dhclient6-*.lease'

Now I get DHCPv6 leases again, even if my machine was powered off for some time.
This probably doesn't work for suspend/resume, but is better than nothing.

[Bug 1641549] Re: migrate lxc android container to lxd

** Attachment added: "lxd-image-create.sh"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc-android-config/+bug/1641549/+attachment/4777978/+files/lxd-image-create.sh

** Description changed:

  Several things to do here:
  * include lxd, lxd-client in default installation,
  * writable path for lxd: lxd resides at /var/lib/lxd and it takes write
permission to fully function,
  * migrate lxc tmpfs-based rootfs to lxd image, lxc configs to lxd profiles,
etc.,
  * migrate systemd service definitions, etc.

  [Steps to reproduce current setup]

  0. rebuild avila kernel with additional patches from
  https://code.launchpad.net/~vicamo/avila/+git/kernel-3.10/+merge/310849
, or just use the prebuilt one in the attachments.

  1. follow bug 1641505 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-
system-image/+bug/1641505/comments/2 to enable adbd emergency mode and
  disable current lxc-based android container.

  2. add /var/lib/lxd to writable paths, install lxd and lxd-client, and
then reboot the device so that writable path may take effect.

  3. initialize lxd. This can take a while (2 minutes for me).

    $ sudo lxd init --auto

  4. run lxd image create script to create the android lxd image.

- 5. edit lxd profile manually because it doesn't currently support
- setting multiple entries of "raw.lxc" config:
+ $ ./lxd-image-create.sh

-   $ lxc profile edit android
-   # This should bring up an editor, default nano. Use
-   # `update-alternatives --config editor` to choose the one you like.
-   # The result should be:
-   $ lxc profile show android
-   name: android
-   config:
- raw.lxc: |
-   lxc.devttydir=lxc
-   lxc.tty=4
-   lxc.cap.drop=mac_admin mac_override
-   lxc.aa_profile=unconfined
-   lxc.autodev=0

[Bug 1638769] Re: Need more information from account manager

2016-11-15 Thread James Henstridge
Is this actually working as intended?

Looking at the changes in the latest package it only affects the
GetAccounts() call, so we don't get back the additional account metadata
from the RequestAccess() method, or the AccountChanged signal.

Further more, the extra "services" return value from GetAccounts() seems
to be empty here:

$ gdbus call --session --dest com.ubuntu.OnlineAccounts.Manager
--object-path /com/ubuntu/OnlineAccounts/Manager --method
com.ubuntu.OnlineAccounts.Manager.GetAccounts {}
([(uint32 8, {'authMethod': <3>, 'displayName':
<'james@localhost:/owncloud'>, 'serviceId': <'storage-provider-owncloud'>,
'settings/host': <'http://localhost:/owncloud'>}), ...], @aa{sv} [])

Was there any reason not to just ship this extra account information as
part of the existing a{sv} dict used by all the existing methods?

[Bug 1371783] Re: [server] package ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.4+nmu1ubuntu2 fails to install/upgrade

2016-11-15 Thread Matthew Kiprovski
I basically did the same thing as in #53 and it worked for me. This was

[Bug 1642123] [NEW] Dual Monitor, one monitor (random?) doesn't power up after lock.

2016-11-15 Thread Dennis Fehr
Public bug reported:

If I switch to a different virtual terminal, and then back to F7, it
powers back up. I have a laptop, and an Acer Monitor connected via HDMI.
Randomly (not always), one (never both) of the displays powers back up..
Note: The monitor does attempt to search for connected devices it seems
(cycles through it's sources), but seems to find none? But I guess does
get poked when powering on? Looking at Xorg.0.log and dmesg don't really
seem to give any hint about it.. and it's only ever happened when I
upgraded to Ubuntu 16.10, from 16.04 (64bit)..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

[Bug 1642122] [NEW] Screen flashes when "flash" is disabled

2016-11-15 Thread Mateo Salta
Public bug reported:

When using the camera app the screen flashes bright white - this was
implemented for illuminating your face when using the camera pointing
towards you https://bugs.launchpad.net/camera-app/+bug/1124574

However, when using the camera pointing away from you, and when using
the camera with "flash" disabled, the screen still flashes bright white.

This has caused a museum I visited that has a ban on flash photography
to think I was still using flash even though it was specifically
disabled - the screen flash was bright enough to be "disturbing" what
they didn't want exposed to bright light, or at least catch enough
attention to be confused with having the flash on.

[Bug 1641152] Re: Scrambled UI: Text in the Unity windows disappears/mixed after the resume from the screen idle state

2016-11-15 Thread Artem V L
Yes, this issue has started after the update and was not occurred after I
upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 until some of the latest updates, though it might
be pre-last kernel update.
It seems, this issue occurs since the latest version(s) of the 4.4.0-47 kernel,
definitely in 4.4.0-47.68 and might be in 4.4.0-47.50 but I'm not 100% about
that.

---

I tested with the v4.9-rc5 kernel, but it does not support my WiFi network
card, so the test was very fast (I can't work without WiFi).
The issue has not been reproduced, but it is not always reproducable even on
4.4.0-47.68. So it is not known whether the issue exists in the latest kernel
and that is why I've not assigned any tag (kernel-bug-exists-upstream /
kernel-fixed-upstream).
However, another issues discovered on v4.9-rc5:
1. A laptop does not [always] go to the sleep (susbend) mode on lid closing
when the external monitor is plugged, instead the all desktop windows are
relocated to the external monitor.
2. When the external monitor is plugged off, the windows are NOT relocated to
the laptop display, becoming totally unreachable.

---

Peculiarities about the Scrambled UI issue on 4.4.0-47[.68]: all windows
of native apps are affected, but not the Java windows (Chrome browser
and Libre Office UIs work fine).

By the way, besides the Scrambled UI there are a few more issues in the
4.4.0-47[.68]:

1. WiFi network connectivity disappeared (might be when is not used for
some time), but the icon (near the time on the top right corner of the
destop) shows the connection having fine signal strength. The
connectivity restarts when I click on the currently connected network.

2. Sometimes the connectivity disappears totally and the icon clearly
shows it. Then I have to restart the network manager service.
Particularly this issue seems to be present since I upgraded from 14.04
(since the 4.4.0-43.63 kernel).

3. Often the touchpad stops work at all (for example now) though
"xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is already the newest version (1.8.2-1ubuntu3)".
This issue also exists since I upgraded from 14.04.
The touchpad works fine on v4.9-rc5, though the test was very fast and I'm not
sure that this issue is really fixed.

[Bug 1642115] [NEW] Add "sms:" url scheme for web based shareing

2016-11-15 Thread Mateo Salta
Public bug reported:

Running stable 15.04 ota-13 on meizu mx5 pro

In using some "webapps" they have links to "share" via email, twitter,
google+, and via SMS - The scheme it uses is similar to "mailto:; which
already opens dekko.

So similarly (sample links can be found in youtube, and with google
translate websites/webapps) "sms:?body=enter_text_here" should open the
messaging app with the text filled into a new message.

Currently the link of this type fails to do anything.

[Bug 1631553] Re: With UFW enabled, kernel reports SYN flooding

2016-11-15 Thread Matthew Caron
Thanks for the help, but adding the nf_conntrack_sane module didn't
help. Adding it and adding ufw allow rules for some packets that were
being reported as dropped didn't help. The only way that it reliably
works is if I set syncookies to 1 as described above.

I'm not sure there really is a syncookies problem, but that's the only
way I can make my scanner work with the firewall enabled.

[Bug 1642109] [NEW] internal compiler error: in expand_debug_locations, at cfgexpand.c:5118

2016-11-15 Thread Colin Hercus
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I'm getting subject error when compiling attached code with options

g++ -finline-functions -m64 -O3 -c -g -MMD -MP -MF "main.o.d" -o main.o
main.cpp

Using: gcc (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.4) 5.4.0 20160609
System: Ubuntu 16.04

The error asked me to "Please submit a full bug report,"

This is a cut down example from a larger program. I'm compiling larger
program with -m64 and have SIMD routines for SSE, AVX & AVX2

The problem goes away if I
1. Remove -O option or,
2. Remove the -g option (but I do want both of these for profiling) or,
3. Add explicit inline to
inline __attribute__ ((target ("avx2"))) __m256i _mm256_shift_left(__m256i
a, int n) and
inline __attribute__ ((target ("avx2"))) __m256i _mm256_shift_right(__m256i
a, int n)

I love gcc and was so happy when I found __attribute__ ((target
("avx2"))) option. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, Colin
PS. The routines __m256i _mm256_shift_[left|right](__m256i a, int n) are used
in initialisation preceding a large loop and performance doesn't really matter.
I'm sure they can be done better.

[Bug 1641859] Re: perf compiled without auxtrace

2016-11-15 Thread Benjamin Peterson
I haven't tried any previous Ubuntu or kernel releases. I'm not doing
anything special to compile perf myself, i.e., I just run make in
tools/perf. Looking at tools/perf/Makefile.config, it seems like
auxtrace gets disabled if GCC is detected to not have __get_cpuid, which
makes it seems like a bug in the feature detection or an abnormality in
the environment where perf is built for linux-tools-common.

[Bug 1642093] [NEW] package-data-downloader will reprocess successful downloads

2016-11-15 Thread Brian Murray
Public bug reported:

The fix for bug 1621629 was incorrect in that it will try to process
every download again in the event that there is one failed hook file.
This is illustrated by the new test test_only_retry_failure test in
test_package-data-downloader.py.

This was fixed during the development of yakkety, but xenial is still
affected by this bug e.g.

==

AssertionError: 1479256982.3473485 != 1479256982.3033488

The fix which was added in r891 of the bzr branch should be SRU'ed to
Ubuntu 16.04.

[Bug 1642072] Re: lxd uses zfs for images, not containers

2016-11-15 Thread Hadmut Danisch
For the simple reason that it is encrypted and requires a password to be
entered.

Under Ubuntu 14.04 it was easy to have an early ssh agent running while
the system still was in the initrd, but with 16.04 systemd such things
became difficult. On my desktop systems, systemd is not even able to
properly ask for a password for luks disks.

I therefore have a plain ubuntu server on an SSD with as little
information as possible, and then keep as much as possible in lxc and
lxd containers on an encrypted zfs array.
