[Bug 1591411] Re: systemd-logind must be restarted every ~1000 SSH logins to prevent a ~25 second delay

2016-12-14 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Hi Lukasz,

I found this issue when I use `systemd suspend` several hundred times.
I can confirm that the dbus package with 'proper fix' in the PPA fixes the
issue for my case.

[Bug 1649313] Re: Mediascanner is not working

2016-12-14 Thread Michi Henning
I tried it with build 191 from ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris-pd.en.
After inserting an SD card with a few music and image files, the music scope
shows the tracks, and gallery app shows all the images on the card.

I'm about to try with OTA 14. But I expect to see the same results.

Can you install the file manager app from the store and check if you can
see the card contents with that? If not, mediascanner is innocent; it
can't see the card if it isn't mounted.

[Bug 1649313] Re: Mediascanner is not working

2016-12-14 Thread James Henstridge
Okay, so according to the log the only mounted volumes are "/",
"/android/protect_f", "/android/data" and "/android/cache". It hasn't
detected any mounts like "/media/phablet/something", which is where the
SD card should be mounted.

The fact that it listed some volumes indicates that it is successfully
talking to the udisks2 daemon. So either (a) udisks2 has missed the SD
card volume, or (b) it is being presented in a way that mediascanner2
ignores.

To help debug this, could you provide the output of "udisksctl dump"
from the device with the SD card inserted? That should help identify
which is the case.

[Bug 1645798] Re: No snaps appear in scope on Core 16

2016-12-14 Thread Michi Henning
It looks like click-scope is the only scope that is failing. Queries to
the music scope work just fine, as do queries to remote scopes (via
smartscopesproxy). All these scopes run the exact same code in the
runtime.

I have no idea what exactly is going wrong, but I strongly suspect that
it is in click scope or one of the dependencies it calls into.

Note that the messages about the closed socket may well be consequential
if a thread that wasn't created by the scopes run time throws. (If
click-scope uses QtDBus, possibly an exception could escape from one of
its threads? Or maybe net-cpp underneath or some such?)

It would be really useful to have some trace from click scope to see
what it is up to when it receives a query.

Also, it looks like I'm not getting any core dumps in the
unity8-session. Is there a way to enable those? It might give us a
chance at getting a stack trace from the click-scope.

[Bug 1625072] Re: lttng-modules 2.8.0-1 ADT test failure with linux 4.8.0-11.12

2016-12-14 Thread Robert Hooker
rbasak: Updated the initial post with SRU info, I will admit I don't
know enough about this package to know how to stress test it to be sure
there are no regressions in actual functionality, but I wanted to make
it so it would at least work instead of failing to build and be 100%
useless. Updating to the full stable point releases would be better.

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ lltng-modules in yakkety is not compatible with a 4.8 kernel and does not
build at all. This was fixed with the 2.8.1 stable release update. I
cherry-picked just what was required from 2.8.1 for 2.8.0 to build on a 4.8
kernel in this SRU because there are other commits that aren't related to this
problem.

[Bug 1640978] Re: letsencrypt 0.4.1 contains numerous bugs fixed upstream

2016-12-14 Thread Harlan Lieberman-Berg
Hello everyone.

I'm not sure exactly what form you wanted the SRU in, but... I've
included a tarball of the source changes files and dsc's, signed, along
with the files included in them.

This upload has two changes from the version in sid. First, I tweaked
the versions in python-certbot to reduce the dependency on pyopenssl.
The version requirement was to work around an undeclared Breaks
relationship between a version of pyopenssl and python-cryptography in a
later version (16.0.0) than is in Xenial.

Second, I added a new dummy package to assist the upgrade of python-
letsencrypt-apache => python-certbot-apache.  The dummy package was
never used in Debian, as letsencrypt didn't make it to stable before the
name-change occurred.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you would like the
SRU in some other manner.

Just to be clear, both call traces look identical because I wrote that
patch to fix this particular issue, but unfortunately didn't get it
backported to the stable releases.

I'm not sure why we haven't seen it on trusty. Perhaps some
initialization ordering or kernel config options changed which exposed
the race.

I do use BQ E4.5 as my daily phone and can confirm that this problem was
not present in OTA-13. And since Mir hasn't changed between OTA-13 and

[Bug 1648278] Re: Make Ubuntu 32-bit ISO image directly installable on UEFI machine

2016-12-14 Thread UlfZibis
** Description changed:

Only with a workaround I can install Ubuntu 32-bit on a UEFI machine:
  - First install Ubuntu 64-bit on a temporary partition.
  - Then install Ubuntu 32-bit with ubiquity -b
  - Start Ubuntu 64-bit and run update-grub.
  - Start Ubuntu 32-bit.

To make Ubuntu 32-bit update-proof I can run:
  sudo apt install grub-efi-amd64
  sudo mount /dev/sda1 /boot/efi
  sudo grub-install --efi-directory /boot/efi --force-extra-removable
After I can delete the temporary Ubuntu 64-bit installation

To make Ubuntu 32-bit again bootable with UEFI secure boot I can additionally
run:
  sudo dpkg --add-architecture amd64
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo dpkg --install
Download/grub-efi-amd64-signed_1.66.2+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.2_amd64.deb
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64-signed
  sudo grub-install
  sudo apt-get install shim
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64-signed
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure shim
  sudo grub-install

Please make this possible directly with the Ubuntu 32-bit ISO image !
+
+ Another WORKAROUND only using the 32-bit Live-image:
+
+ ubiquity -b
+
+ sudo mount /dev/sda7 /mnt # Ubuntu target partition sda7
+ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot/efi # EFI-partition sda1
+ for dir in /dev /dev/pts /proc /sys /run; do sudo mount --bind $dir
/mnt/$dir; done
+ sudo chroot /mnt /bin/bash
+
+ dpkg --add-architecture amd64
+ apt-get update
+ apt-get install grub-efi-amd64-signed
+ Optional: shim-signed
+ grub-install --efi-directory /boot/efi
+ update-grub
+ exit
+
+ In case of dual boot with Windows,in EFI-setup the boot order must me changed.
+ Surprisingly, there was a menu entry in NVRAM, even the configuration via
efibootmgr is impossible, caused by missing efivarfs driver in the 32-bit kernel

[Bug 1650074] Re: Default on battery APM level causes SSD runing very slow

2016-12-14 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1650074/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1645698] Re: [SRU] network-manager 1.2.4

2016-12-14 Thread Aron Xu
@jbicha, would be nice if we can have 1.2.4 first, as backporting the
patchsets to xenial could take a bit time sometimes (becasue we switched
to git-pq in later release, thus noises of the patches).

[Bug 1649077] Re: OSK appears blank in the lock screen

2016-12-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Verified that OTA-14 still contains the same Mir release as OTA-13 did. So Mir
has not changed:
   https://launchpad.net/mir/0.24/0.24.0
   http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ota/ota-13.commitlog
   http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ota/ota-14.commitlog

Not a Mir bug unless you can reproduce the same problem in OTA-13.

[Bug 1649662] Re: resizing a gtk+3/mir app makes it unusable - pixels get stretched and input stops working

2016-12-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes I can see some GL code in GTK's Mir backend. However I also notice
the proposed new version of GTK in zesty got promoted yesterday. I've
just tested it and can't reproduce the bug yet, so it seems unlikely to
be caused by that.

[Bug 1649736] Re: unity picks poor hidpi scale factor defaults

2016-12-14 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Can you attach a screenshot of the "broken widget rendering"? Sounds
like it's a separate issue and we should fix it properly.

In the meantime, I think we can add an extra knob for something like
"integer-scaling", to make scale-factor always round to 8 or 16. But I
doubt Unity upstream would like it though.

But we should fix broken things as well.

[Bug 1650093] [NEW] GusetVM can't detect and mount CDROM with virt-install

2016-12-14 Thread Takaaki Suzuki
Public bug reported:

I had an issue when installing ubuntu-16.04.1-server-arm64.iso with
virt-install.

[My commands to reproduce the issue]

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/16.04.1/release/ubuntu-16.04.1-server-arm64.iso

--ram 4096 --cpu 2 --cdrom=/root/ubuntu-16.04.1-server-arm64.iso --disk

[Bug 1648649] Re: Ubufox is broken in Firefox Nightly, due to using no-longer-supported "for each" syntax. Error console now shows "SyntaxError: missing ( after for UpdateNotifier.js:217:8"

2016-12-14 Thread Daniel Holbert
Great, thanks Chris!

Note: I am not a JS expert, so my suggested replacement in comment 0
might not be exactly right for all cases of this pattern. (I believe
it's correct for code that's iterating over a JS array, but the
semantics might be slightly different for other structures, e.g. whether
you're iterating over keys vs. values, etc. This definitely merits a
sanity-check test (e.g. logging each iterated entry before/after the
change) to be sure the conversion is valid.)

Do you know why it is behaving this way? Can I help by testing a suggested
fix or by providing more logs? I've tried new firmware, hacking around with
bluetooth settings, and manually changing pulseaudio card profiles during
calls. Unfortunately, nothing that I've tried has fixed it.
