[Bug 1512120] Re: [SRU] thunar crashes on file renaming
My OS is Ubuntu 16.04, with XFCE version 4.12.1 installed, Thunar version 1.6.10, which is the latest available in the repositories. All updates are installed. I'm experiencing this issue multiple times a day. sudo apt-get install thunar Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done thunar is already the newest version (1.6.10-2ubuntu1). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. If it's fixed in 1.6.11 on Xubuntu 16.04, the patch should be present on ALL versions of Ubuntu. I experience this bug at least 5-10 times per day, sometimes a lot more when working on projects with lots of files that have similar names. It does happen often enough just renaming other files, like maybe a 1 in 20 chance, but I have yet to loose data as it has successfully renamed all of them. It crashes so much when working on said projects though, that I'v actually went to using the terminal using "for i in filename*" loops wiht various regex matches and the cut command to mass rename files instead of Thunar. I will be building Thunar from the latest source and overwriting the system version to see if that fixes it, as it appears regular Ubuntu dosen't have the latest version of Thunar in the repos. Someone please get this fixed asap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512120 Title: [SRU] thunar crashes on file renaming To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunar/+bug/1512120/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1671991] [NEW] init 1 locks you out of system immediately when run from virtual console
Public bug reported: I don't think it's just me, as I'm able to reproduce this on 2 physical systems as well as a vanilla qemu/kvm instance, immediately after fresh installs from both ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso and ubuntu-16.04.2 -desktop-amd64.iso When I run 'sudo init 1' or 'sudo telinit 1' from any virtual console, the system never gets to single-user mode. Instead, I am presented with a non-functioning login prompt and no way to actually interact with the machine except Ctrl-Alt-Del, which luckily still works. The login prompts look normal, but only appear on two virtual consoles: tty1 always, plus the one I was using (if it wasn't tty1). All others are blank. Typing my username results in the message "System is going down," instead of a password prompt. After a couple of minutes, it will clear the screen and draw a fresh prompt, with the same results; otherwise, nothing changes until I give the three-fingered salute to reboot. I've attached a screenshot from the VM. This happens regardless of whether I first log out of my desktop, stop the lightdm service entirely, or neither. The truly bizarre part is that if I enter the command from inside a gnome-terminal running on the desktop, it works as expected. It's a little unbelievable, but seems to be reliably reproduceable. [Bug 1640320] Re: FTBFS in zesty
I believe that the failed builds were re-run since the first report by Dimitri and then failed due to googletest. After fixing the googletest issues then we end up with another FTBFS caused by missing 'vector' includes. I have added a merge proposal with the fixes in place. ** Branch linked: lp:~tdaitx/location-service/lp-1640320-ftbfs-fix ** Changed in: location-service (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640320 Title: FTBFS in zesty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/location-service/+bug/1640320/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1600753] Re: System Settings missing icons
If you set XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME and then run gnome-control-center from the command line you're just running unity-control-center instead. This isn't making gnome-control-center work, it's just running a different app. When I go to /usr/share/applications in Terminal I see two separate files: gnome-control-center.desktop and unity-control-center.desktop In PCManFM they both show up as "System Settings". You don't see the unity version in non-Unity desktops because it has the line "OnlyShowIn=Unity;". I created a new version of this file and called it: unity-control-center-LXDE.desktop Then I modified it so it would show up in my LXDE menu. I also added it to my task bar, so now whenever I want systems settings I run the unity version. Now all my bluetooth problems have gone away as I can run "Bluetooth" from the Hardware section of system settings, then go right to "Sound" and switch to my headset speakers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600753 Title: System Settings missing icons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1600753/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 362875] Re: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset
Reporting in from 16.04LTS, this bug still exists and Bug #1388416 appears to be describing the same bug and is marked Confirmed. I just signed up to post this so I'm still unfamiliar with the platform to find a way to link to it here. I have the same issue, though it appeared to change behaviors after a recent restart-required update. Before the behavior was that after dropping, hot replugging resolved the issue 90% of the time; after the recent update hot replugging does nothing. At first I fell back to rebooting every time and then dug around for a bit and eventually found a more palatable work-around. Issuing a restart command to the network-manager service often works, though you may need to restart your browser. Sometimes rfkill likes to soft-block the device especially after hot replugging so if it still isn't working try checking there. I did notice the errors issued by ieee80211/rt2x00usb would be a quantity of 110s, then two or three 71s, and finally one or two 19s. This leads me to believe that something is hanging in the works or maybe the supplicant, that leads to the protocol error and eventual bailing out at the end. I'm not entirely qualified to guess, but I'd say it's possibly an issue in the kernel or systemd, but maybe network-manager. I doubt the module itself is to blame (since it worked in the past), but this is all my own conjecture and I have zero visibility deeper than the logs (I'd poke the guts but I moved from Arch to Ubuntu to avoid this kind of thing honestly). Incidentally back on 2.6.x kernel contemporary with the initial bug report up top, this problem existed on Arch so it perhaps is a chronic kernel issue. The entities at play seem to be ieee80211, rt2x00usb, rt73usb, the kernel, and network-manager in some capacity. lsusb: Bus 002 Device 005: ID 148f:9021 Ralink Technology, Corp. [Bug 1671977] [NEW] Inconsistent splitting of results of $(Command Substitution)
Public bug reported: The man page says, under "Word Expansions", that output from Command Substitution will be later split into fields (unless IFS is null). Therefore the statement foo=$(echo xxx bar=yyy) should expand to foo=xxx bar=yyy and when executed, set two variables foo and bar. However dash does not do this. Instead, the Command Substitution output is not split, and the result is the same as foo="xxx bar=yyy" which sets a single variable. HOWEVER, inside a function, dash *does* split the result of Command Substitution if it is part of a 'local' variable declaration. This seems inconsistent: One or the other case must be a bug. Comment: Despite what the man says, splitting Command Substitution results is probably not desirable and would be incompatible with bash (which AFAIK never splits Command Subst output). I can't say what POSIX mandates about this. #!/usr/bin/env dash func() { echo "IFS='$IFS'" gvar=$(echo "11 y=22") local lvar=$(echo "33 z=44") echo "gvar=$gvar" echo "y=$y" echo "lvar=$lvar" echo "z=$z" } func # RESULTS: # # IFS=' # ' # gvar=11 y=22 # y= # lvar=33 # z=44 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: dash 0.5.8-2.1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-66.87-generic 4.4.44 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-66-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Mar 10 16:33:07 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-01-19 (50 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) SourcePackage: dash UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: dash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671977 Title: Inconsistent splitting of results of $(Command Substitution) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dash/+bug/1671977/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
