[Bug 1672424] Re: Cannot install Debian files outside of the repositories

2017-04-20 Thread Robert Ancell
Found it - the .debs are loaded by GNOME Software but they are not
marked with a "management plugin". This cases the apt plugin to reject
them when installing (it only installs apps marked as owned by apt).

[Bug 1683105] Re: Installation of DMRaid should automatically add necessary modules to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules

2017-04-20 Thread David Lee
Phillip Susi I will give it a look tonight. I suspect you may be right-
I have never seen the dm-mod module even since when I started using
RAID, nor has it ever shown up when I do a 'lsmod' on my RAID-enabled
systems. I will investigate tonight, and if it is indeed the case, I
will try to submit a patch.

[Bug 1685054] Re: Merge 2.2.5-1 from Debian Sid

2017-04-20 Thread Simon Quigley
It seems to me that if you were to force sync 2.2.5-3 from Debian
Experimental, that this delta would be no longer needed, but I'm a
little skeptical because it's Debian Experimental and it wasn't uploaded
to Sid. It also doesn't include the same changes we made, and I'm not
familiar enough with the package to make a call on whether or not the
delta would still be needed.

I'll leave it up to the reviewer to decide whether or not to force sync
from Experimental or wait until it's uploaded to Sid and take my patch
for now. If you decide to take my patch, it's attached.

Thanks!

I have exactly the same. can't access my University's vpn on my new

I am wondering if I can rollback vpnc and the necessary packages back to
14.04? need to use vpn to connect to work computers.

using the above workaround (leave Gateway blank), I get the following
error when trying to connect via vpn:

Make filename passed with --local-filename absolute.

If you already have gnome-software running this filename is passed to the
existing process which is likely to be running in a different working

[Bug 1685051] [NEW] grub-installer fails to install during installation

2017-04-20 Thread Hans-Florian Moukeka
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo Flex 2-15 and I recently installed Ubuntu Studio on it.
After many tries, I was able to successfully install it. After a couple
of days, my computer was acting weird again, so I would have to boot
from live cd to try and reinstall Ubuntu Studio again. Everything was
going smoothly until it came time to install the grub2 package, and that
is when the installer crashed.

[Bug 1672424] Re: Cannot install Debian files outside of the repositories

2017-04-20 Thread Robert Ancell
The reason this is not working is the gnome-software you are running is
not the process that actually shows the package. You will already have
gnome-software running so it just passes the string to the existing
process. Since this process is probably running in your home directory
it doesn't work on non-absolute paths unless you happen to be in your
home dir.

** Summary changed:

- Cannot install Debian files outside of the repositories
+ Installing .debs from the command line fails for non-absolute paths

[Bug 1672424] Re: Installing .debs from the command line fails for non-absolute paths

2017-04-20 Thread Robert Ancell
Note that --local-filename=~/filename.deb doesn't work because '~' is a
shell expansion that doesn't occur. It would have been substituted if
the command line was --local-filename ~/filename.deb.

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout

2017-04-20 Thread Ivan Larionov
simosx, Super+A/F/M/C/V are not adapted and do not work in Russian
Layout. I even tried Greek and they do not work in Greek as well.

Another example is Ctrl+Q. Open unity-control-center and try Ctrl+Q in
English and Greek. In Greek it won't work. In English it will close and
app.

[Bug 1652504] Re: Recent updates broke Ubuntu on Raspberry Pi 3

2017-04-20 Thread ted
I spent most of the day last weekend re-writing my sdcard over and over
again trying to come up with some magic apt-get upgrade combination that
didn't brick the pi. I ended up accidentally overwriting a card I have
stuff I care about on. I want to personally thank whoever added the code
that broke boot after upgrade. Post #16 did work for me, but whoever
wrote the code that broke it deserves a gold star. you sir/madam are a
winner

It would be good if the legacy drivers (nvidia-367) were reinstated and
not made transitional. Maybe they should be named appropriately to
reflect that they should only be used for grid GPUs or that they are
legacy - `nvidia-grid`/`nvidia-grid-legacy`.
